Ah, but why would a normal person even choose to use that at all? The convenience of and just because others do shouldn’t be enough to trust any stranger alone especially nowadays. But we tend to accept anything especially if it has anything that is related to moving forward. Which in my book is the worst saying ever.

This happened to me at JFK, I politely declined and told the person I already called a ride. He said he could discount my trip by $10, I still said NO. I'd rather take the safer option than try to save a little cash getting a ride from someone who is not verified.

I had to make a call to a different states police investigation unit after randomly finding some driver forum where I was seeking an answer from. Long story short....I ran into a driver (for both uber & lyft) that made my bones freeze because of the incredibly disgusting and strange comments he kept making. I felt pretty certain I was reading the comments of either someone who has killed before, or someone who definitely would in the future. I did as much digging as I possibly could on this individual, and what I found was even more concerning than my initial thought. I called uber and lyft and that states police and reported everything I had seen and everything I had found on that individual. They placed me on hold and when a different investigator came back on the line and asked me to please email him a screenshot of everything because the name I gave them pulled up a very concerning and sexually violent background (against a minor), I felt sickkkkk and was in disbelief that this was a driver people like you would just blindly trust thinking that you're safe! You need to understand that many drivers have turned out to be scumbags. An app does NOT make you safe!!!
I drive for the rideshare companies, but only if I absolutely HAVE to (which is mostly never, honestly). I do most of my rides to and from the airport and definitely OFF of the apps!

Meanwhile, rideshare DRIVERS are being preyed on by people pretending to be riders. Many of these riders are criminals trying to carjack and rob drivers, using the app to lure them into areas. The app is more dangerous for drivers than people think. That's why many of us drivers are getting our own private base of clients, taking them to dinners/clubs and airports. SAFER than trusting a random rider who's using a FAKE NAME to get into my backseat behind me. These folks walk up with hats on and with baggy clothes and backpacks, acting like legit riders. The app doesn't care and will send a driver to their grave, all for $9. That's why we do private rides for people we trust and know (or who have been referred to us). These apps are dangerous.

We as drivers know the truth. The apps take 75% of our earnings at the airport and charge riders an exorbitant amount of money because they're at the airport trapped with no other choices if family or friends can't pick them up.
These people do need to get permits to give rides at the airport to drive legally. I do believe they should. Why they don't, I don't know why. But 99% of them are just trying to compete with Uber's high fees and low driver pay.

This is people just trying to make a living . My father used to do this as working for Lyft or Uber cannot sustain a family. The airport just helps these monopoly companies keep all their business.
Prior to this they would do the same thing for taxi’s .
Its all to keep business flowing to these company’s and for no one to take there business
