A day out in Chandigarh | Vlog 1 | Chandigarh UT | India | Sixty and Travelling
A day out in Chandigarh ( Vlog 1) is our attempt to present to our viewers a peep into the life of one of the most beautiful and well planned cities of India. Chandigarh itself is a Union Territory of India, and capital of two Indian States, Punjab and Haryana. The political and administrative importance of the city is unquestioned, and so is it's place as a well planned and beautiful city.
We started our tour of Chandigarh with the iconic Sukhna Lake. When you talk of Chandigarh, name of Sukhna Lake is bound to come up as it's most illustrious ambassador. It's a huge sprawling Lake with beautiful lawns and gardens around it showcasing multicoloured flowers of all hues, lot of aquatic activities, walkways around the Lake etc. Sukhna Lake spread over three square kilometre is a rainfed Lake created in 1958.
When we reached Sukhna Lake it was late morning with scorching sun blazing overhead, but still the Lakeside was quite pleasant with cool breeze and omnipresent greenery of multicoloured flowers. We actually strolled around some of the stretches inhaling lot of fresh invigorating air.
Our net stop was the nearby Chandigarh Bird Park at Nagar Van behind Sukhna Lake. It was inaugurated for general public on 16th Nov. 2021. Despite having been opened so recently, the park has already become very popular amongst visitors to the city.
Some of the main attractions here are, African Love Birds, white Swan, Black Swan, Golden Pheasant, Green Wing Macaw, African Grey Parrot, Finches, etc etc.
In the Winged Wonders section of this park, the bird are placed in enclosures in their natural habitat and we can have a close look at these birds. It is specially educational in its value for children and even the grown up people.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable and educative outing for us.
