    Just seen this but I went for AP over Artis down to a few reasons...
    1. Price and availability.
    2. Previous experience with Artis. They are owned and run by Element Games. I've always had good service from Element but my Series S brushes were AWFUL. Cleaned and conditioned them as instructed but they all split and lost shape. Their customer service was rubbish, asked me to send the brushes back, which I did... And never heard anything back ever again and didn't get my brushes returned. Ignored all comms too. Moved over to Broken Toad brushes and they wipe the floor with Artis.

      good to know as I thought about getting the regular brushes but not if the service is that sketchy to be kind

    It'll be interesting to see a comparison between these 2 companies and a set of decent make up brushes. I got a set of cheap make up brushes off ebay and they were crap, but I taxed 2 of my missus's decent make-up brushes and they're bloody amazing. The smaller of the two works amazing for washes and contrast paints 🤫

      I guess there are also immense differences in make-up brush bristle characteristics. But yeah, a comparison Armypainter vs Artis Opus vs Make up brushes would be nice

    Ordered my series D set but been told there are delays but they won't say how long a delay🤦🏻‍♂️ so had to order the army painter set for the mean time
    Thanks for making a great honest video

    Thank you so much for this!! Extremely helpful.
    Did you notice the army painter getting deeper into crevices due to the softer bristle? Or the softer bristles didn’t impact the final product much?

    • @fluffhammerpaints
      @fluffhammerpaints  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks mate 🙏 no i find them very similar in coverage and crevices, i do find it easier to get smoother work with the artis opus.

    I never use brush like this for dry brushing but I will do it I buy the Army painter ones befor I pay so much money for the Artis Opus

    • @fluffhammerpaints
      @fluffhammerpaints  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I recommend these style brushes over flat/chisel brushes for drybrushing! If you like the army painter ones you will love the Artis Opus ones !

  • @qzl9

    The artis opus seems better generally, but where i live, they cost literally 8 times as much as the army painter set. Maybe it depends on where you live, if they were only 3 times as expensive, i would be on board with artis opus any day!

    • @fluffhammerpaints
      @fluffhammerpaints  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah 8 times the price is crazy they simply aren’t 8 times better.

    I picked up a set of AP "masterclass" drybrushes - they don't retain their shape as well as my Artis Opus set, and they often shed bristles (onto/into my work). The Army Painter brushes are, in my opinion, inferior to the ELF makeup brushes I use. Overall, I'm unimpressed by any of the Army Painter brushes, at all.

    • @fluffhammerpaints

      I agree. They did not age well

  • @czaczaja
    @czaczaja 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Very good review! Hows the bristle quality on them? Will the Artis opus last 4x times longer than AP or is ot better to maybe get AP every time they wear out?

    • @fluffhammerpaints
      @fluffhammerpaints  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks mate! The Artis Opus is definitely better made, 4 x longer im not so sure but definitely will last longer, the artis opus are softer but seem less synthetic..

      @@fluffhammerpaints Brilliant. I was having a dillema which one to go for but I think I'll give AP a go for now and test them thoroughly

    My army painter brushes are trashed fairly quickly. Also the quality control is kinda shit. My medium brush is almost cut completely flat and not rounded. They are ok, but I'm already looking to replace them after painting a few units.

    • @fluffhammerpaints
      @fluffhammerpaints  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah further on after making this video my artis opus are still in very nice condition the army painter ones are pretty wrecked

    • @kamiladamczyk2469

      My small army painter brush literally died after painting 2 units of 10. So id say they are garbage. Id love to buy maybe another small one because that mightve been problem with that particular one but they dont look like will last very long

    Hello from Germany,
    I want to give my boyfriend new brushes for Christmas.
    Series S is already ordered, as well as a brush from Series M (Size 0).
    I would like to order 2 more D series brushes. Which would you recommend? Which of the D series do you use the most? What sizes are a must have.
    He paints terrain as well as BlackTemplar and Bonereapers.
    Thank you for your review. :)

    What do you think these are made out of?

    • @fluffhammerpaints
      @fluffhammerpaints  ปีที่แล้ว

      Artis opus are made by rosemary and co so -- Made from the finest quality goat hair, these are designed specifically for smooth coverage and a realistic result. Model painters will love these as they are the ultimate dry brushes.
      Goat hair for them. I don’t know about army painter

      @@fluffhammerpaints I'm launching my own line, and I'm having a really hard time deciding if goat hair is the best because it can shed and sometimes small ends can break. Let me know what you like, and maybe you can help me out!

    Got pack of Army Painter Drybrushes... it's a hot garbage: too soft, too fragile (lol), bristle is in scarce (lol 2), hard to control. Avoid this cheap trash at all cost. 2 dollar makeup brushes works better than Army Painter onces.
