That amazing feeling at the end, you can see it on all their faces... "Did I just do that???"... yes, you did! From a Cadet alum, Congrats BD, you guys were phenomenal all season.
The feeling of performing is like no other. Brought tears in my eyes and memories that I'll always cherish. I might have done a different drum corps, but the spirit and the love of the performance is just the same as it was back then.
@Sam B. I disagree a little. I am not a fan of all the GoPro shots because they kept cutting away during sections where I felt an overhead view of the field would have been better to see all the spatial imagery. That's just my opinion. But the audio was perfect and the performance, phenomenal as always!
I'm a classical musician, though not in a band instrument. I agree with Sunny mostly. An area like marching band, especially BDI which relies heavily on the synchronization of movement, really should be watched as a birds-eye view. It is cool to get the GoPro shots, but this video had waaaay too many camera changes to get a sense of how the show went. I'd want to watch the show from the wide-angle camera a few times before moving on to this. In watching this, though, you can definitely get a sense of how happy these guys were.
I'm a freshman in marching and this just makes me wanna continue to work on my marching!! Edit: Andddd here I am a year later to update!!! My band director said I was a great player for my age and a good marcher, so he made me section leader and I’m sophomore representative!! This year was a bit rocky, but we eventually got through it and exceeded our expectations! Hi guys! I’m back! It’s junior year and I’m junior representative as well as a drill instructor this year!! I get to yell drills at the top of my lungs at the 9th graders now lolol I’m so excited for this year and our marching show is called Firebird (which a lot of you should be familiar with) our stand tunes are fun too!! I look forward to this years marching season🥳🥳🥳 oh and we got new uniforms this year 🤩🤩🤩they look amazing!!! Sooo question 🙋🏾♀️ does anyone know the basics of euphonium ?🥲🥲 UPDATE AGAIN: I MADE IT TO HEAD DRUM MAJOR AND WE JUST GOT OUR MARCHING SHOW IM SO EXCITED NEXT YEAR(senior) WILL BE EVEN MORE FUN!!! And I made the TOP choir at my school I’m excited 😭✨✨ Update: so after a little negotiating with my directors they all agreed for me to compose a piece combining band, orchestra, and choir! So far I’m 40 measures in! I’m very new to composing, but I need help with transition from like a melodic angelic sound to a dark mysterious sound. I’m not really sure on how to do it I have to do more research 🧐 I totally forgot to update this lol 😂 I just finished my first year in college lol and music theory/sight singing are KILLING me but I love it so much!! Yall might be a little disappointed, but I decided to work with the string side of music education 😭 a lot has happened since the last update and it’s been a roller coaster but I’m doing really good with the cello and my professors are amazing!!
I'm a senior getting ready to audition for my first season of DCI. First thing I will tell anyone is to not let your first 2 or 3 years go to waste. Take those 4 years seriously and grow as much as you can to prepare yourself for DCI. Good Luck!
Bro I am a freshmen as well and practice today was brutal it was like 110 and I almost passed out like 3 times also pur music is a ton harder than middle and we have to memorize it which is a lot harder than it should be for me
I'm a Crown fan at heart, but Blue Devils had a damn good show this year. I really enjoyed the music and how it was put together. Excellent job Blue Devils! Can't wait to see DCI return next year!
I cry every time i watch this show. This truly is a statement to the progress of marching band. This show is amazing and full of energy and emotions. This makes me love the Blue Devils even more!!
You love to see it. It’s just sad how the virus is spreading and all DCI shows are canceled, it makes me feel like I’ll never be able to see another DCI show again. At least this will cheer me up. Man it’s been a journey.😔
YEAH I’m in my feels today, and watching all of these dci videos is making me nostalgic and craving marching band. I hope my high school season isn’t cancelled this year as I’m gonna be a senior 😔
This makes me miss marching so much, such great times. Even the shitty days are memorable. My favorite memories are when it started to rain and the brass, winds and color gaurd would freak out while us (the drumline) got hyped
our band does the opposite, the wws and brass get hyped while drumline hurry to get their drums out of the rain, we got rained on and winds blew it under our tent and the drum heads for ruined right before our first comp
rewatching every BD vids and it made me realize that they will be the happiest people that could ever live knowing that they've made a spectacular music and show. BD are my dream band to watch, I love you BLUE DEVILS!!!
I never cease to be held spellbound by these shows. From show concept to final performance, the unfathomable amount of time, energy, effort, and talents that make these productions blossom into fruition is mind-boggling. Bravissimo to all! And Brandon doesn't seem to have changed much from his early videos...except for the whiskers...
Such a great show! Truly enjoyed seeing this in person. What a joy to see the happiness of all the BD members... ending the season with another championship!!! Well done BD!!! I look forward to next season.
Excellent video to showcase what I feel is the perfect show. And this displaces cabaret Voltaire as my favorite blue devils show ever. Brilliant. Just as SCV set a new standard in 2018 this show does the same in 2019. I ask every year can they possibly get any better and every year I’m blown away by the artistry and talent of all the corps. What a wonderful activity we have to enjoy.
There are songs, and there are bands, and then there are listening to bands in person, and then there are DCI bands. Out of all the songs on my playlist, those that are played by DCI bands make me consistently smile. The professional marching bands always sound so amazing and are just so good at what they do. For example: this show has so much story and emotion, that every part of you feels. While the last song is ending, you can feel the satisfaction in everyone. They are giving all they have to make it a great ending! Not many songs or bands have this, but when they do, they are amazing. Thank you for reading my mini essay.
7th grade year discovered the blue devils 2017 show, became a front ensemble player fell in love with dci in general, 8th grade year became obsessed with drumlline, have crazy chops for my age, found this show learned the break, cried when I heard some of the brass hits, and now freshman year im center snare for my highschool drumline trying out for dci soon keeping y'all posted
Years from now I’m going to look back at this show and remember it being extremely underrated. Its great all the way through! The opener is extremely powerful and demanding, the ballad is heartwarming, and the closer gives off a euphoric or reminiscent type feeling 🙌🏻 #19in19
Wow my heart aches watching this and remembering marching days... such progression in the programs such showmanship and passion. So amazing so proud of the new generation and where they have taken DCI go BD!
6:12 they were just feeling it with all battery they were just groovin especially Brandon and the quad next to him (idk his name) as a front line/pit/front ensemble I really wanna be on battery next year
Man, watching this from the field perspective really brings me back to my marching days. When you're on that field, there is nothing that can take you off beat. There's absolutely nothing like it.
At first I was upset about the “robbery” from the Bluecoats, but this show definitely deserved to win. A lot of DCI shows are super hard to love at first, but once you find one good part, you rewatch it until you love it all- never until you’re annoyed with it. I find it to be this way even with high school band, the show seems iffy at first but after a while it really grows on you. Great job to this talented group of individuals this summer. Great work, can’t wait to see how they come out next year after another win.
This show is so amazing!!! I saw this very run live at Indianapolis with my dad and I can feel the power and emotions through this show!! Hopefully I will be able to do something like that in the future. Thank you Blue Devils!!!
That was one of the best edits I have ever seen for DCI. Captured the main audio, but also layered the audio of which ever camera they were capturing at the moment. AMAZING!!! And the Oscar goes too....
The person that runs my drum line in my high school marches Blue Devils. I believe she’s in this video. Edit: 4:50 if you pause it’s the woman on bass drum on the left.
This is absolutely fantastic! As a band parent, and a former sousa player, this is so inspiring! Well done video production team and of course congrats to the Blue Devils on the championship!
Like BD or not this show was super creative and so well performed-watch the end as the instructors are cheering and jumping for the kids-Man I am going to miss this the summer of 2020
I really think this is my favorite marching arts video. The edit is incredible at capturing all the personal moments and individual responsiblities involved in putting together such an incredible show. Add the pure joy radiating from each of the members in this uninhibited encore performance, and I've not seen anything so eloquently communicate the thrill of performing in this activity. No matter your level. It's busy and messy, and I don't know how easy it would be to track without prior knowledge of the activity, but even with my marching days now a couple decades in the past I still well up a bit every time I watch this one through.
This show is just so good. They made so many moments through out this show. As soon as one moment ends there's immediate transition the the next and the tension continues to build. It was just so exciting. I'm not even a huge blue devils fan, but, the earned the hell out of this years win. Congratulations.
I saw this live, and even though my heart was with the Bluecoats, I had to begrudgingly admit to myself… BlueDevils won the field this day. Magnificent performance, I will remember it forever.
I am absolutely in love with this show! I have loved the Blue Devils ever since I was introduced to them 20 years ago as a High School Freshman in Color Guard (my instructor marched for them in the early days)!! I have watched it every day since i found it and I have high hopes for the 2020 season!
People like to rag on the Blue Devils because they win a lot... I'mma let y'all in on a little secret.... It's because they DESERVE to win a lot! They have really figured out the formula and it isnt that hard really... Number one is staff retention. They attract the best designers and educators and they RETAIN them. Those designers design INCREDIBLY intelligent shows that are designed to highlight the group as a whole at all times. Anything individual is just the sugar on the top. The educators there are absolutely the best in the business and they do not compromise EVER. And it is THAT reason that the Blue Devils always attracts the best talent. They are not a destination corps by accident. Number two is style. They have a style that is all their own that simply cannot be replicated. Nobody MOVES like the Blue Devils. They have such a visual style that is just so pleasing on the eye. And as far as brass goes, You could blindfold me and play me a dozen hornlines playing the same chord and I would be able to pick out Devs ten times out of ten.
This made me soo happy the blue devils have always been my favorite❤️❤️❤️I thought it was soo funny when he was announcing second he was like blue................... coats. Y’all deserved it amazing job I wanna be apart of this organization someday ❤️❤️
And the tap shoes on the props combined with the violin at 9:55 is absolutely stunning! Really ties the show together with a super fun hit that streams into a ballad with the violin and the mellophone leading off the rest of the band. It's all very exciting not only fun to watch but very interesting to hear. Gotta say the charging at the audience in the end really grabs your attention. Very cool show!!!

This is AWESOME. Thank you for sharing!
Nope me too!

Bobby I do it before I go into band
I watch this before performances as well. For motivation but generally because the Blue Devils are my heroes.
Seeing the pure happiness in the beginning basically sums up marching band and how it feels.

I saw this live, and even though my heart was with the Bluecoats, I had to begrudgingly admit to myself… BlueDevils won the field this day. Magnificent performance, I will remember it forever.
I saw them perform this at Corps Encore 2019. It was magical to see them in person
I am absolutely in love with this show! I have loved the Blue Devils ever since I was introduced to them 20 years ago as a High School Freshman in Color Guard (my instructor marched for them in the early days)!! I have watched it every day since i found it and I have high hopes for the 2020 season!
It’s still so weird to think I’ve preformed on the same field as these guys
When the snares and quads were next to each other they all looked super happy😪 best moment ever
Congratulations Blue Devils! In memory of CF.
An AMAZING performance by AMAZING young musicians! I loved your show this year! A well deserved win!!!!!!
Kudos to the folks that edited this. This is one of the best.

3 contests left in my marching season. Im a freshman in hs and I’m enjoying band a lot. I might not be that good, but I love watching videos like these.
