Dude I love your transparency throughout your videos! It improves the quality of your videos by a mile. Especially compared to any other reel comparison content creator (cough cough, thereeltest)! It increases your authenticity a lot as well! However, one thing that tips me off. And it’s the usage of emojis for the titles. I understand you want to adapt to the TH-cam algorithm. Though I would watch your videos nonetheless! Keep up the good work!
@@C0ldB3er hey cold! I really appreciate the kind words! I believe that transparency and honesty are really the only way to go in terms of sharing information and thoughts on these items. Since my channel is on the smaller side I can’t quite turn down free product for review quite yet but the goal is to basically have the channel fully fund the items that are reviewed on the channel. As far as the emojis are concerned haha yea I totally get what you mean but it beats me putting my face with a fake expression on the thumbnail imho. Imho, I don’t need to bring attention to myself just to the products being tested and reviewed. I’ll try playing around with not including emojis in the title though as I understand it’s a bit childish lol. You are right though it’s an attempt to get the algorithm to push the title up and get people to look at the title of the video haha. Anywho, thanks so much again for the kind words and support! Cheers my friend!
Hehe, funny you show this, today I was testing a new rod and the Purelure SilverFeather Air was smacking a small tanta on a with a 0.2 gr bead, so around this weight and it's very consistently. For people complaining about the usefulness of sub-1 gram casting ability. if you are outside big predator areas this opens a world of possibilities for everyone like XUL, you can go and have a good time casting for EVERYTHING that is on water, from silver fish to sun fish. Today I was catching mullet with the Supercontinent 2cm plastic and a 0.75gr cheb lol and you can "only" catch them on small white presentations, but they fight like a truck. Thanks a lot by the sharing of this valuable information that shows that you don't need to break the bank to have access to crazy performance on casting gear.
Hey Ricardo! I’ve been using the test lure setup I showed in this video for a few years now and it’s produced some really good sized bass for me. It’s odd because on one side you have the UL spinning anglers saying they can outcast bfs and can cast lower but in all actuality I don’t think I’ve ever heard of an UL spinning angler casting sub 1g. Then on the other end, you have bfs anglers saying that you don’t ever need to cast sub 1g… my arguement is that it is a tool to have in your toolbox and should and can be used whenever you think it might be needed. I think at my super pressured lake the use of the 5cm supercontinent worm is a presentation that has probably never been seen by the fish and is why it works so well. Yes, I do catch dinks but at the same time I catch big fish as well. When I see other anglers not catching anything well… I have absolutely nothing to complain about and perfectly happy catching dinks and big ones all the same. Anyways, it’s nice to have the ability to cast this low and pretty amazing imho. Cheers my friend!
That was a lot of work you did. Thanks so much. It's amazing that all those reels came out so close to each other. Spend the big bucks if you want but it's certainly not necessary.
Hey Ron! I completely agree with you and it was my pleasure! It’s encouraging to see people really responding to this video and the information it shows! It sure is an awesome time to be in the world of bfs if you are a newcomer. Don’t need to break the bank as you said if you just want to experiment and see what bfs is all about. Cheers my friend!
Absolutely agree, we’re very lucky with what is available to us at the moment! Thanks for taking the time to do this test. As an avid user , I appreciate the information a lot.
Hey lime! It’s my pleasure! Hope you were able to get some good info out of the video and it’s really awesome to see that most reels nowadays cast quite close to each other and can get down to the sub 1g weight range. Cheers my friend!
A highly informative and scientifically conducted video! The small variance in casting distance observed was not unexpected by me, since my testing with 1 gram lures showed a similar pattern with the top contenders in that category. Still, one never knows until one actually tests. Thanks again for the work you do, my 5 week BFS fishing trout fishing trip this summer was a big success thanks to the purchases I have made based on your videos. Hey perch! Yeap one can only hope that the jdm will not just sit back and rest of its laurels. The CDM is innovating and manufacturing at a blistering pace. Really exciting to see and get to be a part of! Cheers my friend!
Can’t thanks you enough for what you have done for the community man! I like your opinions on it all comes down the the experience you want when using it. This is very true. I like my aurora casting distant but it’s fragile body and dodgey QC is putting off on getting a second one for my creek creatures hunting rods. I like it and will use it but the experience overall cannot compare to my VEII and Acura. Looking forward to either a MIIEC, SF or VEII pro. Gonna see what other reels the CDM brings out towards the 11.11 sale 😀 Thanks again man for doing this ❤
Hey bedok! My pleasure =). I had fun putting the reels to the test and seeing how closely they all performed. Was quite surprised to see that going below 3g spool weight doesn’t really do all that much. Anyhow, thanks for the kind words and cheers my friend!
I have 3 of these coming the 1.37, 1.68, and the 1.98 to check them out. I need to upload more videos just been to busy, glad you showed me what I was getting! Looking forward to trying them out, still looking for a great creak rod without having to go to a huntsman
Hey dbb! Right on! I don’t think I showed too much of the rod as it wasn’t the focus of this video. I think that the rod is decent but not really worth the price Histar is asking. Would I recommend it? Probably not unless you’re really only looking to cast below 1g. I think there are better rods out there. Also, a split grip on a sub 5’ rod is a bit odd imho. Anywho, thanks for stopping by! Cheers my friend!
Great Video !! Just watched out of curiosity ?? I will never cast anything close to that lightweight size. As a Bass fisherman I seldom go below 2.5 grams.. but I enjoy all your videos and the channel is very informative and honest !! Keep it up !! and thanks !!

Excellent and very valuable…I‘m right now in the market for a BFS toy for a backup rod of mine. The Histar Air, which I bought some time ago, doesn‘t fit although it casts pretty well. I want something with significantly more quality as this is the main reason the Histar failed my judgement. So your point concerning the Histar is absolutely true in my opinion….
I agree with you. I bought the Aurora Air and ended up sending it back. I know it was only $28 on sale when I got it, and most people wouldn't have bothered, but I didn't think they deserved a cent of my money. Maybe I just got a bad copy, but it felt like a Geary, plastic toy that Matel would have made.
Hey arne! Yea… it’s really awesome to see that the performance is definitely there but sad to see the QC all over the place. I did pick up their latest version of the aurora air called the Aurora AirCF and I’ll be putting it through the paces when I get back home from China. Cheers my friend!
@@danspanoshey Dan! Yea… sounds like you got one of the unlucky ones sadly… of the two Aurora airs I bought one was geary and the other not. Both still had issues that needed addressing though. Hopefully this “new” Aurora AirCF model helps them get their QC in check… cheers my friend!
I must of been very lucky and got a very good quality one 🤷 I’ve put about a week of time on the water and it by fare better than the DC reel that’s silver feather one. I just can’t get dialed in and the Histar air easy to dial in feels so much better and performers better too. Right now it’s in my top of the arsenal of reels I use 👍
Great video. Have just realized (last week) that I was falling into the “…got to get the lightest and best casting bfs reel…” only to find out that they all seem to cast about the same distances. It’s just a matter of quality you want. Watching your Seasir M1 video I recently purchased that reel also. And while it’s good, I don’t feel it’s any better than the Soloking HICC or the Aurora Air (my favorite so far). It just made me realize what you stated here about your decision should be based on price and or quality and not distance.
Hey Cutley! Thanks so much for the comment! That said, I think you may be getting me confused with another TH-camr? I haven’t made any videos on the Seasir m1, in fact, I never made one because I disliked my copy so much. Imho, it falls into the “made poorly” category and I would never recommend it to anyone. I’m glad you were able to get some good info out of this video though! Cheers my friend!
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL Oops…my bad. Was someone else. But do agree with your assessment on the M1. Not too bad for the price I paid ($30) but not as good as some others.
@@cutley2b hey cutley! No worries haha =). Yea the m1 is not that special of a reel imho. Feels so poorly built and some really odd choices by the manufacturer… I should do a “do not buy” reels video sometime. Cheers my friend!
I called it Peter hahaha!!! I know that 2024 top reel would change lol😅. Great video as always, I will probably learn toward the DMK elite feather model mainly because it hard to find the ff01 cormorant these days. In all fairness I like to have a reel that is very versatile in throwing weight easy since they all throw about average distance.
@@Zz-id5qp hey zz! Haha 😂 I mean… the cormorant is still amazing but credit where credit is due. The silver feathers are more attainable and they, as a family of reels, cover a wide gamut. However, on the other hand the cormorant is just one refined reel. I will likely never part ways with my cormorant just on the notion of how nice it is… the silver feathers miiec exa is probably going to be another reel I won’t part with and will likely become a daily driver for me. Cheers my friend!
Awesome video, Peter! I have to say that your copy of the Cormorant makes me sad. I was so excited to get it, and you already know the horror story that followed. Ugh.
Hey Dan! When I get back we will have to try and get that sorted. The cormorant has been one of my, if not, my most favorite reel for a good long while. The DMK silver feather miiec exa has kind of taken that place just because it’s so versatile and fun to hear the whine of the dc brakes but magnetic brakes reels def have their place as well. Cheers my friend!
You have to put a washer of 0.1mm on one side of the spring of the inductor. so the inductor to move less out/right. On some old Daiwa SV spools there is already a washer between the spool wall and the inner plastic ramp that tuning is similar to manual setup of the inductor in Haibo reels.
@@veskostam3523 hey vesko! I actually shimmed the side plate with a 0.1mm to push the spool away from the magnetic ring. Shimming the rotor also seems like another way to accomplish this but is not as easy to do. I can’t recall why but I have already removed the inductor and spring from the spool just to see what the spring looks like and to compare it to a sv spring. It is very weak vs the sv spring this means that the rotor engages quite easily. Cheers my friend!
@@jakubpoplawski3218 hey Jakub! I would have loved to include the Aldebaran but it didn’t meet a few criteria. First, the reel has a slightly larger spool diameter and this test was limited to 28mm. Second, when I had the 22 Aldebaran it was not the most adept at casting 1g and using a KKR aftermarket spool made it cast most consistently but I do not believe it would have been that great at sub 1g casting. The third criteria is that I have actually sold my 22 Aldebaran bfs as there are many reels that I try to test and I can rarely hold onto reels for the sake of owning them. Also, imho there are “better” reels on the market that suit my personal needs. Hope that helps explain it and thank you so much for the kind words! Cheers my friend!
Great vid! Will help greatly to choose among all the CDM reels available now. Just one remark and one question : - It feels a bit odd to compare the Loongze and MIIEC EXA with classic non assisted reels. - Why not including at least one variant of the famous DWU ? Cheers mate! :)
Hey Maurice! The reason I included the two dc reels is that they both have 28mm spools and both claim to cast below 1g. Regardless of the braking system if the reel claims it can cast a certain weight then I think it should be included as the end result is the lure weight being cast. Regarding your DWU question, I have never been able to cast any of those reels below 1g very far vs these 28mm spool reels. The only version I have experience with that can go below 1g is the Soloking Acura pro and it can’t compete with these reels. I think at best I was getting maybe 20-25ft with a 0.8g lure with that reel vs these reels getting 35ft+. Quite a significant difference in distance. Hope that helps explain things! Cheers my friend!
Hi Peter! Great work as usual and kudos for going "where no one has gone before" ♫, sub 0.1gram. Any possibility of your testing the PURELURE Aluminium Body Silver Feather? I guess the chances are rather low, with the two other Purelure models already tested. Would you venture a guess as to the quality of the Aluminium Silver Feather? Do you think it's worth the extra price over the plastic/graphite original. Don't tell me to get the digital version! LOL
@@Fishingelbow hey fishing! Tbh I don’t think there will be a huge difference between the air and the elite but it might be worth looking into! From my understanding the elite is made quite well and probably in line with what you experience with the EXA. As far as low end casting I am not sure if anyone has explored that yet but I will highly consider looking at the elite. Cheers my friend!
Daaaamn. I think I'd also be more confident casting that light on BFS of a shorter rod, even though it should hamper distance I feel more confident controlling the cast with a short rod.
Hey Jacob! Actually I really enjoy casting low weights with my longer rods as well. The 632 zero and 592 cedan are quite capable as is the 762 zero and the 752 elf. All great rods capable of the sub 1g casting capability. However, like you said shorter rods are a bit more manageable. Cheers my friend!
Hey Michael! The silver creek is a 28mm spool reel no doubt but I kinda meant for the SS air tw to represent the jdm fishing reel world as I believe it can cast lower weights vs the silver creek. I could be wrong though. However, one thing stopping me from reviewing that reel is the age of the design. I am guessing that daiwa I will release a new updated version in a year or two or three so I will keep my eyes peeled for that. Thanks so much for the suggestion though! Cheers my friend!
I'm looking for the best value that hardly ever backlashes and casts 1/16 oz 25 yards MINIMUM! I haven't bought a bfs reel yet because I haven't found one that casts farther than a spinning reel and when you don't have a boat, most of the time, casting distance plays a big roll
Hey Andrew! Thanks so much for the question! Ok let’s do some conversions first 25 yards is 75 feet, and 1/16 oz is 1.77g. So, you are looking for a reel that can cast 1.77g about 75ft. While the reel plays a big part in casting I would also say the rod does as well. What rod would you be using Ooc? Also, what is your budget for the reel? Finally, while I have not test cast 1.77g with a spinning setup vs a bfs setup I will argue that bfs setups have something that spinning setups do not have and is something that is very hard to master with a spinning setup which is accuracy. Anywho, I look forward to hearing your responses! Cheers my friend!
@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL your absolutely right, the rod plays a big roll. I'm still doing my research, and love and appreciate people like you that do the experiments and testing videos to compare. I really don't plan on fishing anything less than 1/32oz or .8 grams, and I want a short 1 piece rod that's still capable of casting to the middle or opposite bank of the river I fish which varies between about 20-100 yards or 60-300feet. Either way I want a bfs reel because I prefer them to spinning rods. I wish someone would put as much time and effort into a spincasting reel as they do baitcasters and spinning reels because the efficiency of just pressing a button, no bird's-nest, not having to flip a bail and hold the line is ideal for problem and stress free fishing. I think the bfs reels using 2 micro bearings on a short shaft and light shallow spool with symmetrical magnets (not 6 on one side) and tapering line guide is what I'm leaning towards with a 5 and a half to 6 and a half rod. I like the kistler lite medium heavy rods and the Shimano alderbaron mgl 50 if money wasn't an issue, budget I'm looking at the mavlos delicacy and soloking bmc100 or micro monster pro and mavlos ultima
I think the most surprising thing that I learned from this bfs reel shootout is that the bfs reel with the lightest spool Daiwa claims it has ever made casted the shortest distance in comparison. 😂 I still think I’m going to choose the Daiwa SS AIR TW for short distance power finesse paired up with a short Extra Fast action rod. 😎 Maybe the SS Air TW was overbraked?
Hey Kenneth! Yea… I mean it’s understandable a bit as the magforce braking system relies on a rotor that’s a part of the spool which adds weight. The JDM brands don’t seem to be too into sub 1g casting anyways so for one of their premier bass finesse reels to do it with a relatively simple modification is pretty awesome imho. Outside of sub 1g casting the SS air tw is a stellar reel and you definitely feel the higher fit and finish of the reel vs many of the other reels listed here. You do pay a bit of a price premium for that though which is to be expected I think. Anywho, thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and cheers my friend! PS I’m not sure if the SS air tw is overbraked as it has outcast the 22’ Aldebaran and the Haibo arise air when I tested a 1g lure weight. The braking profile is very controlled though so it’s hard to say whether it is or not as I don’t have sophisticated equipment to fully test these theories.
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL Awesome! I agree 100%. BFS was developed in Japan to fish primarily for small native trout. The only sub gram reel I have is a Daiwa Silver Creek and I modded it with a roro spool and ceramic spool bearings, otherwise half gram lures was a struggle. Honestly, the only time sub-1gram lures are necessary is when you are fishing the tiniest of creeks and streams. Otherwise BFS fishing with 1.5-2 gram lures is perfectly acceptable BFS fishing. If you do require sub gram casting and don’t want to spend the time and money modding a JDM reel then just buy yourself a good CDM reel like the Flight Feather etc, and cast sub gram perfectly out of the box without breaking the bank.
@@kennethfriedl3428 hey Kenneth! Haha you’re gonna laugh but I actually use the lure I showed in this video at my local lake to a great degree of success haha. For a very pressured Southern California lake presenting lures that are not often seen by our bass is a successful technique. I’ve managed to pull quite a few fish over the 14” mark using this lure. Anywho, as I always say it’s another tool to use in the toolbox =). Cheers my friend!
@kennethfriedl3428 hey Kenneth! Haha I’ve yet to hit up puddingstone. Gonna have to give it a try! I normally fish balboa which always has people fishing and tons of pressure… 😅 any good spots at puddingstone? Cheers my friend!
Hey bernet! You are correct and the reason why is because centrifugal brakes add weight to spools. So… in order to have the lightest spools to help with overcoming the moment of inertia of a spool most manufacturers have turned to magnetic brakes. You’ll see this even in companies that aren’t trying to cast 1g or under. You will hardly see any bfs reels with centrifugal braking systems for this reason. Hope that helps explain it and cheers my friend!
Hey Michael! I couldn’t agree with you more. Oddly in my experience the b50 just couldn’t cast the 0.53g lure nearly as well as the EXA. Also, your assessment of the refinement of the EXA over the b50 mirrors my sentiments exactly. Cheers my friend!
great, would like to see a test on their darg, 4kg really? and how reel body do when under the max darg, one thing really want to know is, are they strong enough at this kind of weight even the JP expensive reels can't do
Hey vvvv! I can def look into this as I recently got a drag gauge. As far as frame flex goes though I’m not sure how I can quantify that but I don’t think it would be a big issue with a carbon frame reel. Nylon, on the other hand, might as the flex will be a bit more. The other thing is is that high end jdm reels tend to use different materials like magnesium and at that point you’re comparing apples to oranges. That said, you can indeed find magnesium framed CDM reels like the FF01 Cormorant. Anywho, thanks so much for commenting and cheers my friend!
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL looking forward to your test video, it is true that max 4KG reels don't need a strong frame to function but a good frame makes them work smoother and last longer, there are some AL frame reels on Taobo(ali) in the price range of 40-50 US oh ya, i am from HK, i read chinese and always buy fishing tools from taobo, thats why i never trust the specs
Man something about that kastking speaks to me! Im currently using the kestrel bfs (non elite) on ceramic hybrid roros and i cant complain. You think the valiant eagle pro would be an upgrade??
@@jskip69r hey js! Yea the kestrel bfs is a decent reel for sure. The main difference you’ll notice between the v2pro and the kestrel bfs is that the v2pro will cast under 1g quite easily whereas the kestrel struggles a bit. Additionally, imho the star drag and drag is set up much better on the v2pro. The turning the star drag is much easier but isn’t too loose and the drag is very smooth. Would the v2pro be a big upgrade? Hm… probably not but if you are wanting to try and cast under 1g then yes it would be no doubt. The drag clicker also sounds a bit better in the v2pro imho. Ooc what are you looking to do with your bfs setup? Cheers my friend!
Great test! I will choose all of them beside the Daiwa (I own one). If I want to spent more than 300$ I will choose the Alderbaran 22 or Conquest. Budget Shimano or Daiwa is waste of money.
Hey Chan! If you are trying to cast below 1g then the jdm reels are definitely not where I’d point someone to look at for sure. I also agree that the price to performance ratio of the lower end jdm reels just isn’t really there vs what you could get with a CDM reel and the same money. Thanks for stopping by and cheers my friend!
Thank you for video! Cormorant have a 30mm spool, but it's work better them some 28mm...So,it looks like the race for UL fishing is not only about smallest and lightest spool, what do you think?
@@vandn100 hey vand! You know you’re absolutely correct. The cormorant is a 30mm spool that outclasses many 28mm spool reels haha. I think you are definitely correct in that the spool dimensions/specs alone isn’t the whole equation. The brakes and how they interact with the spool and a myriad of other factors definitely also play a role. There is also the weight distribution of the spool and inner spool diameter, aka where the line starts to lay, that make a difference as well. Thanks for pointing that out and cheers my friend!

Just that, between getting out to destress and making videos I think I need to prioritize destressing. I really do appreciate you checking in though! Happy to report that there are no problems just life saying that I have some other priorities to attend to at the moment. I am still around and will find some time to get some information out soon! Also happy to say that I managed to get into a 15” and 17” bass on the silver feather MIIEC exa this and last weekend and it handled them admirably. The reel is amazing. Hope all is well with you and cheers my friend!
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNELHey Peter! I'm glad everything is fine with you. The Silver Feather MIIC is indeed a nice light and compact reel. I also got one, the no app version, a week ago from Dankung. The only thing I don't like is its drag clicker sound. It makes a plastic-like clicker sound. Not a big deal though and probably it can also be updated.
@@upstreamer1661 hey up! Yea the clicker is a bit on the muted side. I think the flute ring is nylon which would explain it. The upside is that there are kits to upgrade this but they haven’t made their way to aliexpress just yet. I picked up two and have been meaning to install one in the EXA. Cheers my friend!
I don't understand it either, what do you want to fish under a gram, complete nonsense and iam a perch fisher and most of my perch on the pond i fish 95% bite only on 2inch and below baits so rly only small stuff but under 1 gram 🤣🤣🤣
@@sorenk9962 hey Soren! I use sub 1g lures all the time. While it’s not something that everyone will use having a reel that can cast that for some people is important. It’s great to see that there are so many reels available that can and are capable of casting under 1g. If you don’t need to cast that weight in your fishery then more power to you but fishing tackle is a tool that should be used to fit your needs. Hopefully this video was able to show how great it is to be in the bfs genre right now as we have so many choices available to us. Cheers my friend!
Great job as always, Peter. Kinda surprised, that EXA does go toe to toe with the Cormorant for you. I mean the EXA is great, but I didn't think it could square up to the Cormorant. 👍
@@oxyuran5998 hey oxy! Yea the EXA is quite a surprising reel. In all fairness, the cormorant did outcast it but the spread isn’t very much. I’d probably keep the cormorant for doing sub1g as it can eek out the EXA by a bit but the EXA is just so versatile and a pleasure to use. Both reels are great reels and there definitely is a difference in the materials and manufacturing but DMK has really done a bang up job with the EXA imho. Cheers my friend!
Mullet! That's impressive! I've only heard of people catching mullet on the fly since the required presentation is so tiny.

@@Zz-id5qp hey zz! Haha 😂 I mean… the cormorant is still amazing but credit where credit is due. The silver feathers are more attainable and they, as a family of reels, cover a wide gamut.
Hey h! Thanks so much for the support! I hope the videos give you good insight and knowledge!
Thanks for the work!
Hey kusland! My pleasure and I hope you were able to get some good knowledge out of this. Cheers my friend!
Awesome reels...
Hey Chris! You know what this means haha. You need more 😅😅😂. Cheers my friend!
great video, lots of time put into it. I wish Shimano Aldebaran was also tested...
Just one remark and one question :
- It feels a bit odd to compare the Loongze and MIIEC EXA with classic non assisted reels.
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL You clarified everything! Thanks!

Any possibility of your testing the PURELURE Aluminium Body Silver Feather? I guess the chances are rather low, with the two other Purelure models already tested.
Good video. I would like to have seen the Daiwa silver Creek in this competition. It's meant for trout fishing and casting lighter lures.
I still think I’m going to choose the Daiwa SS AIR TW for short distance power finesse paired up with a short Extra Fast action rod. 😎
Maybe the SS Air TW was overbraked?
Thx again for alot of information...but isn't there any bfs reels with centrifugal casting control...thx again
The loongze might have a nice shell but the silver feather meeic is somehow so much more refined .
Hey Michael! I couldn’t agree with you more. Oddly in my experience the b50 just couldn’t cast the 0.53g lure nearly as well as the EXA. Also, your assessment of the refinement of the EXA over the b50 mirrors my sentiments exactly. Cheers my friend!
great,
would like to see a test on their darg, 4kg really?
and how reel body do when under the max darg, one thing really want to know is, are they strong enough at this kind of weight even the JP expensive reels can't do
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL looking forward to your test video,
it is true that max 4KG reels don't need a strong frame to function but a good frame makes them work smoother and last longer, there are some AL frame reels on Taobo(ali) in the price range of 40-50 US

@ZestWhite hey zest! Ooc how are you measuring that distance? Is it just an estimation? Either way that sounds awesome! Cheers my friend!
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL I measure using line that change color every 10 metre
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL just some update after use it for a while. the range dropped to around 12-13 metre (43 ft). gotta reclean and apply proper bfs oil later.
I was about to say how you do so many reels under 16 minutes. I see now.
Hey earl! Haha yeah testing method was to allow 5 minutes for each reel and then do three casts but that 5 minutes times how many reels would’ve just made for too long of a video. I didn’t want to bore people with a long video. Was hoping to make this even more concise but I feel like I would miss out on sharing more information. Cheers my friend!
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL I see I see
@@The_Multi-species_Angler =)
would like to see a price comparison of them all ...prob gunna pick up a Histar Aurora AIR to pair with my Mavllos Delicacy
Hey tbudget! I’ll likely make another buyers guide to cover the different price ranges but I’m not quite sure when I’ll get that video out as there are some reels I’d like to check out and potentially add. The AA is a decent pick if you’re ok with potentially having to fix a QC issue or two but the reel does cast quite well. Cheers my friend!
I have a Doviello HICC50 and i accidently dropped the side cover and 4 of the magnets popped out . Could you please give me information on how i can get replacement magnets .
Hey Greg! I believe you’ll want to source some 4mm diameter and 1mm thick magnets N52 magnets if I’m not mistaken. I would suggest reaching out to Soloking before buying the magnets separately though as they might be able to help you out with magnets. Hope that helps! Cheers my friend!
the japanese dont care for under 1g because its not a efficient way to fish.
but i understand not everyone cares about being proficient so to each their own.
@@IronMikeyT hey iron! It’s just not a way they normally fish… yet… I think there’s a small subset of Japanese anglers that have looked into as the shim mod idea was actually found on a Japanese TH-cam review channel. I would’ve never thought of that idea on my own haha. I should credit the TH-camr but I don’t quite recall what the channel name was. I’ll have to look for it… There are also jdm lures coming out now like the jackall elise that are definitely under the 1g weight mark. Anywho, yea casting sub 1g definitely is not something that everyone needs but it is nice to have no doubt. Cheers my friend!
Yea personally I never cared about casting under 1g, very rare to have the scenario in my area where I would want under 2g
Hey Jacob! Def a tool to have in the tool box! Also, being able to cast lower weight lures is never a bad thing to be able to do with your setup. Cheers my friend!
@@yep.fishing theres probably been only 2 instances in my life where a 1g lure was required to get bit.
it was sight fishing super finicky stocked trout which is something i dont fish for anymore. nowadays i fish for wild trout in rivers and there aint no way you can fish a .5g lure efficiently or effectively in these conditions. 2-3g's seems to be the sweet spot.
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL definitely nice to be able to cast tiny lures when the bite calls for it.
BUT. if someone put a gun to my head and said catch a legal size bass..... a .5g lure would be my last option. imo regular finesse lures like shakey heads, neds, and drop shots work way better than tiny lures. for bass atleast.
i will admit fishing tiny lures is super fun because you never know what you gonna catch. and bragging rights also adds to it.
After you get back home test the new reel the same way so we know where it would fit in.
Hey Patrick! Will do =). I have a feeling it will be quite similar though. I don’t quite think going lower than say 3g on a spool does all that much. In my experience, it seemed to make casting less consistent as well oddly… thanks for the suggestion and cheers my friend!
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL I was surprised actually because I thought the VE2 pro would be the better reel but it's probably because I put orange ceramic bearings In all except silver feather
@@patrickhartman6818 hey Patrick! Yep that could definitely be the case. Also, bear in mind that this is a test that is based off my casting ability and has variables that I cannot control. Finally, the differences in distances is actually quite small and almost not significant. Cheers my friend!
Where could the Genius/Elf reel be positioned in this ranking? Can it also cast sub 1g lures?
Hey Stephan! I don’t really think the genius reel is capable of sub 1g. Iirc it was ok at 1g but would be a bit difficult to do so with it. If you are wanting to cast sub 1g I suggest considering picking up one of these newer reels. Cheers my friend!
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL Thank you from France, your channel is very very useful for starting BFS 👏
@stephan7587 hey Stephan! I really appreciate your kind words my friend! Glad my videos are able to help you and if you have more questions please don’t hesitate to ask! Cheers!!!
What about Aldebaran 22?
Hey Sergio! I mentioned why the alde wasn’t included in this lineup but basically the tldr version is it struggles at casting 1g and so sub1g is highly unlikely but more importantly I have sold off my Aldebaran as it’s not nearly as good at casting as many of these CDM reels here. Imho, even the SS air tw is a better reel than it. Also, it has a larger spool diameter. Hope that helps explain everything and cheers my friend!
Daiwa 23 SS Air?
Hey Slava! Yep the SS air tw was included in the test =). Did you have any specific questions regarding the reel or the comparison? Cheers my friend!
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL Would you buy the Daiwa SS Air TW for yourself as the best BFS reel? Or would you choose a cheaper Chinese reel?
Thank you my friend
Hey slava! If you are asking me personally, I would get a lower priced Chinese reel. However, your wants and needs might be completely different. What do you want and need from your reel? What lures will you cast and how much do you have to spend? Cheers my friend!
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL I would like to purchase the best BFS reel in terms of comfort with the lowest possible weight lures on the market today. The price doesn't matter.
Thank you!
@slavalex4277 hey slava! I would consider the FF01 Cormorant, the DMK Silver Feather Air, or the DMK Silver Feather Elite if you are looking for the lowest weight lure casting. Cheers my friend!
I supposed that you have haibo air...i think it casts 0.5 better then all of this reels..
@@MrAntinsk8 hey Antin! I sold the arise air but have the gravity bfs which is the U.S. equivalent and for some reason I could not get it to cast 0.53g well or even consistently. I was spending way too much time with that reel trying to get it to cast that eventually I just got fed up with it and did not include it in this lineup. Actually, it would make sense that the other reels cast 0.53g better than the arise air and gravity bfs as they do not use a rotor with dynamic ftb style brakes. Just my findings… I can give the gravity bfs another try but I don’t think things will be different. =\. Cheers my friend!
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL hm, Admin of the one russian bfs group casts 0.8 hard bait about 17 meters with it on camera. You can find it "Haibo ARISE Air заброс воблера весом 0,8 грамма" I was sure that it can cast 0.5..but..
@MrAntinsk8 hey Antin! Yea I think the gravity can cast 0.8g without issue but 0.53g it really struggles with… I think the rotor really hinders the reels ability to go that low. Thanks for sharing that info and cheers my friend!
Wassup?
Hey upstreamer! What’s up my friend! Did you have a question? Cheers!
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL You haven't checked in for a long time and I was thinking that there's some kind of problem with you or around you, that's all.
@@upstreamer1661 hey up! Ah man. I really appreciate you checking in with me! Yea… ever since I returned from my trip to China work has been really overwhelming… I’ve been managing to get out to fish still but just haven’t had any time to sit down and crank out a video. I have that aurora AirCF and another Histar reel that I need to make unboxing videos for and then other topics I have in mind.
@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL Is the EXA like the SF Air, in the way that we have to "break" them?
Hey ricardo! Nope not in my experience. The reel works well out of the box in my use. Cheers my friend!
