Have both the dk100 and the Calcutta bfs 2023 model. The difference is noticeably in smoothness but surprisingly the dk100 doesn’t feel that far behind in smoothness. Calcutta is 10/10, the dk100 is about 7.5-8/10 in smoothness. As for friendly user, the dk get that on here as it is easy to tune where the Calcutta you definitely need to take your time to mess with. That said, certain part of the Calcutta does fit the dk internally and theoretically it should help make the dk way better and smoother.
Man, I'm on the fence on this DK100. But even after I purchase one, I'll probably still want to get the CC. With your experience, was getting the DK good enough, or would you still want the real thing?
@@bosconian91 honestly I am fine with the dk100, the Calcutta is my friend that I borrowed for the month. It really smooth and premium built but there were some issue I believe his model and a few others had some clutching issue but Shimano fixed that awhile back. It honestly up to you, if you want the premium quality build or save some money for other gears and slowly upgrading/customize the dk100 with some Calcutta parts. All in all these reels aren’t that much different in performance but built wise you will see a difference but just know that you can get these part to input into the dk100. Just know that the Calcutta is not friendly to use and it can be frustrating to adjust/tune due to the silent O rings. Only reason I wanted the dk100 was because I want to try a round reel for bfs, the main reason why I won’t get the original Calcutta is because it not a upgrade from the aldebaran as they share a lot of similarities, so no new innovations was added, besides making it more smoother to use than the aldebaran.
@@bosconian91oh also I plan on abusing the dk100 on some hybrid white bass and small-medium size gars lol so that the other factor I didn’t want to get the Calcutta in case I break something expensive I don’t want to spend another 100 bucks to fix it.
This reel is really impressive. Never fished a CQ BFS, but other than some smoothness in the gears (and maybe drag, I haven't caught a nice fish on mine yet) I can't imagine a reel being a lot better. The only thing I would like to change about mine would be to remove about an ounce of weight from it somehow. Compared to Loongze B100 Air it feels rather heavy. I think it is an even better caster even though the Loongze is no slouch at all.
Got mine 2 days ago and had the chance to play around with it over the weekend. I like it so far other than the line guide having some play on it. The fit isn't great and there's some wiggle to it. Maybe the new improvements remedy this but who knows
I got this reel. Had it for about a month and some change. I got so many big fish on it. It took some time to break in. I didn’t put oil or grease on mine. Will do so soon.
I have a Shimano Cardiff 301A that casts flawlessly, is tough as nails, handles big swim and glide baits great, zero backlash, smooth and cost me $150! It’s simply a workhorse of a reel! 🎣
Thanks for sharing, I agree that left handed reels just aren't right. It's like Golfing LH, not correct. However I'm all about to each their own and make the comment in jest! Cheers to cranking nice gears!!!
Have you tried any of the Bates reels yet? I just got Two of the Bates Hundos and they only weigh 5 oz with 14lbs of drag. It’s smaller than all my shimano and Daiwa reels too. They claim it is for finesse fishing. Thought you might find it interesting.
I received a dk100 last week that has a flaw: the cast control knob is frozen and will not move. It is stuck close to Min. I was able to cast a 4g lure with no problem but it should work on a new reel. I have contacted them
Hey man! I’m not sure if you’ll see this but I’d really appreciate a reply if you do. I’ve watched your videos on it and all but I was curious as to if you think the 21 scorpion dc 150 can efficiently cast a 5 in senko weightless? With hook I believe it is about 9-10 grams
Liked. But can it be tested head to head with the conquest? It's nice to get most the original for a lot less, but all they do is copy and not innovate. If it weren't for all the R&D Shimano put in, this DK100 reel wouldn't even exist. Cheers!
Unless maybe you want a beater to leave under the seat in your car, in a backpack, in a golfbag, or in the bottom of your tacklebox as a backup. It is perfect for that.
@THEREELTEST I just can't tell if he's referring to the reel weight or lure weight. BFS at its core is using bait casting gear in finesse situations where you'd typically use spinning gear. The weight of the reel/lures (to an extent) is irrelevant. Do you ever go on the BFS subreddit?

Just bought one because of your video. Looking forward to getting it soon. The one in the link had a huge discount. Thanks.
solid reel for the money

@@Zz-id5qp Yeah, it seems like a very good deal considering you’re getting a fully machined Aluminum reel for very little money.
@@Zz-id5qp Good point!
recently picked up HANDINGs new MAGIC L AIR BFS reel ....super stoked to try out their first bfs reel
theyve been emailing me, just dont see anything they offer that I would like to review yet
Great verse, brother!

Line guides are designed to have some give or "play". My conquest line guide has a ton of movement
@@THEREELTEST this actually makes me feel a lot better about this reel

I agree with the original commenter but to each their own
inferior people worry about what superior people are doing lol
Of course left handed reels are not right... they are left. Why make such an obvious statement?
@ lmao nice one!!!
Why don't we just call it what it is; "Knock-Off" 😅🤣😂
Nice video bro. But that thumb bar gave me OCD. Hahahaha
yeah, not sure why they just didnt cover the whole thing
i saw this reels even engraved ones now are they any good ?

Great video! Did the retrieve have any geary feel whatsoever ?
Compared to the Conquest yes, but so do most other reels. I would have to have a right hand model to give a more complete opinion.
@ thankyou

Are you gonna test the histar GUI?
I got mine last week but Im doing the Valiant Eagle Pro first
how is it compare with ifishband tendershoot??
Brother can you do a review on this reel?

should be, but ask Dankung Fishing

How’s the line cap
typical BFS
И все а тест где?
I tried to give you 300 likes but it only lets me give one 😅 lol
Imitation or original, for a BFS please cut the weight.

the DK100 actually weighs .1 oz less than the Conquest lol
