Just bought MT10, very fun and agressive motorcycle! Had a testdrive on s1000r previous generation 2018y- excellent motorcycle, but too legitimate for me, little bit boring and not giving emotions. Maybe new one is different.
I have a S1000RR and I'd chose the MT-10 myself. I have a Bandit 1250n as well. I prefer my nakeds to be less refined, more snatchy and aggressive. I have never ridden the S1000R but if it's as linear as it's brother then they're missing the point. Ride safe friend
True that is getting long on tooth yet save some optics what does it lack? I worry I'll buy it only to see new gen at icma for 2024 ....that usually means you just wasted a bunch of money as the old gen is soon to go on super sale especially in the used marked which REALLY crashes down hard particulalry Japanese stuff! Can mean a used example old gen had for 50% of scalped new gen if dramatically improved (as is typical and more insult to injury)
On the other hand? Waiting to buy an old gen low milage garage queen for $7k loaded down with extra stuff? Could be so sweet! Maybe a seat an akropovic a windscreen a tune and who knows what else? Be like xmas compared to paying list plus added markup on a whole new gen 2024 MT10 18k out the door my guess or more for the standard non sp I was very interested in 23 mt10SP but just msrp alone plus tax and registration (california) is almost $20k I bet the semi active Ohlins are awesome but maybe not 20k awesome....I KNOW I can find a NICELY appointed S1000R for that! And dont laugh at my 7k prediction! Old gen prices PLUMMET if the new is dramatically improved ....too many all go on sale at once supply and demand
I just picked up a garage kept 2019 MT-10 owned by a 70-year-old still with the original tires in good condition and without a scratch on it. also about $1,000 in accessories including a medium height Yamaha windscreen, comfort seat and a really nice tank bag for $9,500 bucks. I'll do a cheap 3/4 exhaust and get the ECU flashed, maybe add some frame sliders some heated grips and hand guards for riding at night in the winter. The throttle is honestly not good. rolling back and forth on the throttle at different RPMs with the throttle in different positions gives different results. sometimes a centimeter or two in either direction will cause rapid engine braking or quick bucking acceleration, other times it'll roll on smoothly. hopefully this can be corrected with engine mapping
😂😂😂 excuse me but aren't MT10s notorious for blown engines ?, owners on forums are crying in tears about their stories how their engine exploded like domino cards , these people are disperately advise people to stay away from mt10 , if that's so bad then what kind of reliability are u talking about?
@@dmrtagge6274last I checked they were exactly three people on the forums who said they had a blown engine. Yamaha has been using that engine platform for a very long time with minimal issues.
The comparison table had conflicting info and wrong info for example it has s1000 having IMU and MT10 not when in fact the Yamaha DOES have 6 axis IMU I dont trust anything in the comparison I feel it was intentionally warped to give bmw bias
@@lovelessissimo Correct, but the Vmax is 1679cc. Heard most Vmax owners can’t get 100 miles to their 4 gallon tank. The MT10 with a 998cc engine should do kore than 30 mpg. Makes me grateful for 200 plus miles with my Bandit 1250 which has a 5 gallon tank. That bike has a 1255cc engine and currently running full exhaust, open airbox lid and a Holeshot SuperTuner dumping up to 12% more fuel. Rear wheel horsepower is similar to the MT-10 at ~ 130 hp but grunts out 95 lbs torque from 3500 - 8000 rpms.

Yamaha mt10 with a ECU flash and tops the bmw most likely. The looks and the tech of the bmw though are superior. I might tend to the bmw.

The first generation didn't have a six axis IMU. I think it was 2022 that they started including those.

@@joflewbyu2377 I think it's hilarious that Yamaha has a Touring Edition of the MT10, but the same size gas tank. Maybe it's just a euro thing.
