    Right on.
    Fan of the .450 master of bushes.
    One idea i had after seein some vids bangin on the .35 legend or goin off on the "urban effectiveness" of various calibers in the ar without even mentioning it.
    Was that the hunting and urban parameters of 2 to 3 hundred meters overlap and
    .350 hits a sweet spot in capacity and bullet weight 5hat would lend itself well to frangible loads.
    Food for thought

    The original intent for .450BM was to be specifically fired from an AR platform.

      @FullQuiverOutdoors  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Yup. That was before many states adopted limited straight walled cartridge laws that favor the 450 BM. Now it’s way more popular than ever imagined

      Because of the bolt action rifle remaining completely locked until the bullet has left the barrel and no gas from firing the bullet being used to operate the action @russr

    When you shoot a deer with the 450 Bushmaster does it damage a lot of meat on the deer. I'm just curious because I just purchased a Henry Repeating Arms single shot rifle chambered in 450 Bushmaster and my furthest shot, I will have to take is 30-50 yards?

    • @FullQuiverOutdoors
      @FullQuiverOutdoors  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you hit a major bone like a shoulder blade or something, it will cause more damage than if you hit just ribs. So the answer (like most quality ammo) would really be, it depends on the shot location. Behind the shoulder, not so much. In the shoulder, expect more damage.

    • @Concerned502
      @Concerned502 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gas guns require specific pressure curves for port pressure and extraction timing .
      Too much pressure would beat the gun and result in parts breakage.
      While an adjustable gas system might help in some ways, you are still left with accelerated wear of the bolt and premature breakage possibilities, as well as potentially (most likely) higher pressures in the barrel/chamber upon unlocking.
      You may only break an extractor. You may rip right though the case head as it is still stuck in the chamber from still too high pressure for the design. You may break bolt lugs (the ar bolt can only be hogged out so much before you have to move to a bigger platform).
      Bolt action guns can have much larger locking lugs, and need no consideration for timing of auto unlocking
      If the ammo is designed specifically for manual bolt actions, would not recommend running it in a gas gun with different design parameters.

      The High Velocity ammo will not work in an AR because it is too long. The cartridge overall length is too long. It says that on the website.

      Try they 105gr MKZ from Cavity Back. With a stout charge of N530, I'm getting over 2800 fps with them out of a 24" upper. They've always expanded beautifully for me, and I get sub 1/2 MOA. Farthest kill was just shy of 700 yds on a prairie dog. Farthest deer was a decent Indiana 8pt that dressed out at 180 lbs. He was quartering away heavy. Hit just behind the back rib and exited through the front of the opposite shoulder after going through one lung and the heart. Based on the wound channel, expansion looked good and total penetration was over 30" before exiting.

      In my guns they are less than 2”. The bullet is still rising at short ranges. As long as it doesn’t exceed 2” or so from point of aim, I don’t worry about it. I set up my guns for maximum point blank range. Then I don’t have to worry the range out to around 215yds or so. Just shoot. Anything longer and I can dope the shot

      @@FullQuiverOutdoors My preference has always been to zero a hunting rifle at 150 yds. If the MV is relatively slow (~2,00 fps), it puts my 100 yds POI at 2" or maybe a little under. If the MV is higher, the POI might be closer to an inch. Not enough difference to worry about, but being 1" closer to "perfect" from an accurate rifle gives a little more room for error in the field. At 200, my POI is low by roughly the same amount. 200 yds is relatively easy to judge, and you can be off a little without making a bad shot.

      I don’t know. I can tell you from experience that the big difference in their 240gr load is the bullet. It expands at any range and penetrates extremely well. Short range you get large exit hole but the bullet stays together. No shrapnel in the meat. Long range we’ve recovered some bullets and they always look like an advertisement. Perfect mushroom. We haven’t recovered a bullet yet from their loads that haven’t been beautiful.
