- The recipe came about from many attempts to get the taste right.
I have tried the other flat bottoms but prefer the Apex (Conical) for it's taste.
I would say the OREA V4 is not an easy brewer for a beginner, but if done right the coffee can taste really good.
In this video, I would emphasize:
1. Having good extraction during the bloom
2. Moderate agitation during the pour
The Melodrip is optional but I use it because it is a wide brewer and it would give an even spread and clarity. I gave a slight stir at the end to smooth out the extraction process at the bottom of the brewer.
Why didn't I use OREA's filters? This recipe is made for those who want to use normal V60/CAFEC filters.

Preparation:
OREA V4 Wide with APEX +CAFEC T-90 Medium Roast Paper Filter
Grind Size: Coarse (85 clicks on 1Zpresso K-Plus)
Water Temperature: 92°
Brew Ratio: 1:15~ (13g, 200ml)
Pour Sequence: 40-80-80
Note: The brewer can handle up to 36g. This is a 13g recipe which you can size up in 1:2 - 1:3 ratio.
Brewing Method:
1. Pre-wet the paper filter. Even out the air bubbles around the paper filter.
2. Add 13g of coffee and poke a deep hole in the middle of the grinds.
2. Pour 40g of water for the bloom. Wait for 40 seconds.
3. At 0:40, pour slowly in circles around the coffee bed and then towards the center for up to 1:00.
4. At 120g, allow the coffee to drawdown for 30 seconds
5. At 1:30, pour with the Melodrip or in concentric circles for up to 1:50.
6. At 1:50, give a light stir in NSEW motion.
7. At 2:00, allow the coffee to drawdown for 30 seconds
8. Remove the brewer and stir the coffee before serving

How would you scale it up to 26/39 g of coffee? Same pouring structure (3 pours doubled/trippled) and same timing as for a single cup?
Did you try holding your paper (with your cupping spoon), then fold the paper accordingly? I think you can avoid the air bubbles with that technique!
Thanks for the input ;) I’ll give it a try. The tricky bit is the Apex creates a narrow cone shape so if I’m not careful during pre-wetting, it might mess up 😅
Nice recipe! I notice your negotiator has an apex tip, and also a handle... did you get one of the first negotiators that used magnets?
Hi! Yes it is, i guessed it has changed when I saw their website recently.
