From the moment this concept was revealed until just now, I really had no idea just how massive this ship is! I'm my head i always imagined it like a slightly bigger constellation for some reason
@@italydude515 tbf, in the game's own size classification the connie is a "large" ship. And it's no slouch. now that said, I can understand how it can be easy to misjudge scale before actually seeing something up close. I think the Polaris' total internal volume is about equal to 10-12 connies though. So it's a very clear delta between "large" and "capital".
@@luistigerfox The connie is a size 4, so "small large" I suppose. Carrack/Hercules is a size 5, which is the largest before we get into "capital" size 6 ships. Though with persistent hangars and other development moving forward of the sizing could be subject to being redefined.
I have a new favourite star citizen channel, your perspective on this ship really does highlight the size and i agree on a lot of your takes, keen to see the interior progress next week!
I highly agree with the elongated cockpit. I liked how it looked in the concept much better. They may have had their reasons, like visibility, but it looks much less aggressive and sleek. They don't seem listen to ship aesthetic feedback, take the MSR for example. Still, this is my dream ship, I'm very excited to fly it this year. I would also like the yellow glass!!!
Blast shields with a Tevarin-style display would be phenomenal. A great mix of the cultural and technological heritage of the UEE expressed in their most modern warship design. Darn I hope they incorporate that but I really don't expect it.
amazing video, keep it up! these videos are worth so much to us, i have an small org but it helps me visualize what the ships can potentially do for the org and future concepts of the game and o understand the true scale and support the ship might need to be fully utilized . again thank you for this
I imagine it will fit a Nova Tank, Centurion, and a Cyclone. At least I hope so. That would be excellent for bringing in a ground force to hold Jump Town for example. Especially with the fighter escort it can bring in the hangar. A great initial holding force which can punish ships in the area on the way in.
I think from what i have seen of the polaris on invictus the armorplate would slide/ move to the left or rightside where the turret is hidden. It looks like there are some sort of tracks to move the covering armor plate
@synthetictv5340 - Once the game is released, you will be able to buy it with in-game money. Will Polaris be expensive? Yes, and to be able to buy it in the game, you will have to work hard. Eventually your dedication will pay off and you will be able to purchase that ship. All you have to do is just play the game :)
Could the cockpit be made out of the same transparent non-glass material the 600i cockpit is made of? Apparently the 600i cockpit is made from really expensive metal like material and not glass. Could see RSI using that material.
I'm sure if anything you could raise the hangar up, but you'd be putting the hangar ship outside and vulnerable to access it that way. Guess you wouldn't be getting on top the ship if you're getting shot at though
which, same with transparent metal, is the laziest lore explaination there ever was in any sci-fi medium (besides diamons are very fragile and will shatter extremely easiely if you hit them with a simple hammer, virtually any construction and engineering material is tougher than diamonds, just as a sidenote). Just add deployable blast shields which are far more visually appealing when deploying and giving actual tactical depth as a bonus, even the Carrack is supposed to have them (not implemented yet) for better protection and thats an exploration ship, not a military one. Even the Cutter has them and thats a flying coffin held together with paperclips and bubblegum.
The hangar was shown at CitCon - it has a smaller floor than ceiling, same as the artworks, for sure. Some corridors are shaped inverse, thats true, but that is not directly around the hangar and not to enlarge it.
iirc the armor glass in this universe is equal in armor/structural strength to the steel, so any glass you see is just as strong as the rest of the hull, the only difference is thickness.
to me that is a lazy canon explanation to get away with more visibility. If that is the case, why are there NO other windows on the sides of this ship, or the galaxy?
and yet we still have steel support struts right on eye level for the cockpit glas, thats a lazy lore excuse that doesn't even make sense in star citizen.
I love the work you did with this! Hoping you can do a part 2 sometime with a close-up of the airlocks and cargo ramp doors. :) Question! What music did you use in the background for this video? It sounds very serene and futuristic, something I’d like to use for ambience when I play Star Citizen sometime.

How are you getting all the animations and such to work? I've datamined SC for years and make lots of renders of unreleased ships, but they never export from Starfab with their animations functional and most doors are static.
Yeah, I'm not a fan of the cockpit design either. I wanted it more flush with the rest of the ship. It sticks out like a sore thumb, literally. Still, I'm so excited for this ship. Nice work on this!
Hey man! I am looking for the new model of the RSI Polaris for my 3D resin printer. Sadly the only ones I find are old models from the holo viewer model. Would it be possible for you to let me get my hands on the new model (possibly as an STL file)? As a thank you I could send you 3d printed model upon success. Cheers!
Sorry mate, there is avery strict "don't share assetts" in the community, cause the moment we do that, they will have to enforce it and we can't do projects like these anymore.
Do you have the total opening height of the cargo door from your model? We can probably extrapolate if we're Ballista/Nova excluded from that. Should take Storms no problem though.
It's really hard to tell, as there are some elements on the inside that I can't identify, not sure if they move or not. Something between 4.8 and 5.6 meters.
Hey, yes, that part looks suspicious, but in the files, it is just one big piece with the main hull. Everything supposed to move, like the doors, or wings, are easily noticable and also clearly labeled as such - this is just decoration. HOWEVER - they just said in the ISC, that the hull is not completely finished, as we thought. So they might still flesh that out, but RIGHT NOW, double checked for you, It's just decoration :)
on the showroom floor version they had a green light on the belly and it looked like it was hiding a door? thoughts? its not glass its transparent aluminum lol,
Oh yes I saw the light, too, but the model has absolutely no openings there. Could be a placeholder, but honestly it looks to good for that. And the indistructable aluminum glass - to me that is a lazy canon explanation to get away with more visibility. @@RobertP-zk8vh You mean the material? Can you point me to what it is called? interesting - but I stick to my point.
