It’s interesting that younger people don’t realize we used telephones to connect in the beginning of the internet. That’s why they need the phones 😊

    • @steved1135
      @steved1135 วันที่ผ่านมา +8

Interesting indeed. But that's not quite accurate as to why they need the hardline phones. What's needed is an access point that's native to the Matrix system itself. Thus, the phones. Later on, as system technology 'within' the Matrix advances, a local WiFi access point for example would be required...

Almost everyone from the dial up ages also had those speakers that could detect an incoming phone call. So you could be ready to hang up and try to reconnect to your game.

Yeah, in Eastern Europe, the internet only became a thing after 2005, and it was just like it is now. So we don't know how it was in the 90s. Even to think that there was internet in the 90s is so unusual

"There are no bullets". Thank you for understanding what happened at the end. So many reactors roll their eyes thinking that Trinity's kiss somehow brings him back to life like some disney princess movie. When in reality, that wasnt it. The Oracle even told Neo that he or Morpheus will die, and that Neo is "waiting for something. Maybe the next life". She prophesied him dying.

AI and it's possible threat is nothing new. It's first mentioned in a book back in 1872. Then you get 1968's "2001 a Spacy Odyssey", 1970's "Colossus the Forbin Project", 1984's "Terminator" and it pretty snowballs from there.

This movie did a great job at giving away subtle clues that Neo is the guy:
17:49 The Oracle telling Neo that she understands why Trinity likes him.
23:45 Trinity telling Neo "It can't be true." And he asks her "Why?" But she doesn't answer.. (Because the Oracle had already told her she was destined to fall in love with the one, which she keeps to herself. )

How well it's hold up also shows how quickly things were developing in the 90s. Never before has 25 years in cinema seemed less aged, whereas if you went back 25 years from 1999, 1974 would've seemed ancient in every respect.

Neo is an INTP/ Logician. One of the 16 MBTI personalities. Trinity is an ISTP, Morpheus is an ENFJ, Cipher is an ESTP, agent Smith is an ISTJ, Tank is an ESFJ, big bro Dozer is an ISFJ and the Oracle is an INFJ.These are just a few of the personalities that exist. Google and TH-cam, the 16 MBTI personalities. Also the Matrix is loosely based on Plato's Allegory of the Cave written 380 b.c

As the film points out, they are unplugging batteries. Basically enemy NPC's in the Matrix that are all potential agents. Most of them would choose to stay in the Matrix rather than get unplugged. These are folks that are actively working for the machines, so these are not their allies in the war for humanity.

    Great reaction. Thank you!
Of course, we thought about and discussed the effects and dangers of AI. We`ve been aware that governments and the Deep States used it to their advantage and have had plans to use it to control us.
Mega Computers had already been a thing since the 70s. And that`s why "The Matrix" resonated with many of us.
For those of us who have watched The Discovery Channel (during and up to the time it used to provide us with relevant and intelligent content) AI and its development was an important issue.
We`ve also discussed the probability of living in the Matrix even before the movie came out.
But just like today, the majority thought very little about AI and its effects on society, and they couldn`t care less. Many didn`t even understand the movie and described it as "fairytalish" rubbish.
Of course, you`re right in saying that times have changed and that nowadays, we are (evidently) much closer, more exposed to and involved in AI in our everyday lives than we were in the 1990s.

This movie has a notorious gun mistake in it, during the "dodge this" part. Trinity shoots him in the side of the head, but when the body falls the bullet hole is right between the eyes. A spot he never got shot. It's up there with Dirty Harry and End Of Watch, where they're great movies but goofed up as well. Each of them have a scene that is notorious in the gun community for a mistake, but also held in very high regard nonetheless. It's an interesting paradox they fit into.

The original idea was that human minds would be harnessed as extra RAM (processing power) for the computers, helping them think their thoughts for them, which would result in sensory input flowing through human brains. To keep the humans from trying to get out of the system, the computers made sure that the sensory data looked only like “real life”-what human brains are used to processing anyway. This kept the humans calm and compliant and let the computers get on with their stuff without any human interference.
Unfortunately, the studios couldn’t understand this, and certainly didn’t think the moviegoing public would either. So they went with “batteries.” Which leaves the question, why have the dream world at all? Why not just leave them all brain dead in lifelong comas? The reason is they needed active brains, but again they got rid of that plot line.

"You hear that Mr. Anderson?... That is the sound of inevitability... It is the sound of your death... Goodbye, Mr. Anderson..."
    "My name... is Neo."
Fun, deep film. This movie is about free will and breaking free of the machine. Unfortunately, the second and third movies (while watchable) are philosophically inconsistent with this movie. The fourth movie is absolute garbage and completely unwatchable. I can't stop you from watching them, just be prepared to be disappointed in them.
Fun Fact: Theatrical movie debut of Tamara Brown.
Mythology Fact: In Greek mythology, Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) is the god of dreams.
The One Fact: To prepare for the scene where Neo wakes up in a pod, Keanu Reeves lost fifteen pounds and shaved his whole body to give Neo an emaciated look.
Set Malfunction Fact: After the lobby shoot-out, the camera pans back, showing the aftermath of the gunfight. A moment passes, and a large chunk of one of the pillars falls off. This was not planned, but was left in for a comedic effect.
Not A Snowflake Fact: Carrie-Anne Moss twisted her ankle while shooting one of her scenes, but decided not to tell anyone until after filming, so they wouldn't re-cast her. Carrie-Anne Moss performed the shots featuring Trinity at the beginning of the film, and all the wire stunts throughout, herself.
Sunglasses Enthusiast Fact: The iconic sunglasses worn by the Matrix characters are from the "Blinde" label, which prides itself on producing handmade glasses. The company's founder, Richard Walker, had to tender against large companies, such as Ray-Ban and Arnette, to win the film's sunglasses contract, and set himself apart by scratch-designing pairs of glasses based purely on the characters' unusual names. When his tender was successful, Walker was flown into Sydney where he spent the duration of the Matrix shoot custom-designing sunglasses for the cast in the back of an Oxford Street optometrist.

I'm always fascinated with the "eye triangles" that women paint onto their faces near their eyes, its such a strange look IMO and every younger women paints them on their face now. I feel that in 20 years we'll look back at this 'eye triangles' fad and laugh like we do with afro and mullet hair cuts and all the other crazy fashion trends throughout history. I don't get to meet many women wearing the eye triangles but I think if I ever met someone who had them on their face, I don't think I could stop staring at them. Women wearing lots of makeup has always been strange to me, but these eye triangles that all the women paint on their faces might be the strangest fad. I just can't believe that women actually paint little black triangles at the ends of their eyeballs. Actually... the "three inch long eyelash" trend might be stranger than the "painted-on eye triangles". I'll never understand humans. Anyways.... Cloud Atlas is an almost epochal film and you should have seen it and V for Vendetta. Why you can't find any reaction videos for Cloud Atlas (2012) is a mystery to me. @@seanstinchfield-mp2xm It was by far the worst part, I was also disappointed, just average. If you hadn't seen the first three, you would say, you can take a look, but nothing special, one of the Wachowskis probably didn't feel like it yet to shoot a fourth one, but there are probably people behind it who put a little pressure on it and that's perhaps why it was implemented so carelessly. However, if you have watched the first three, you would still want to know what happens next, but there are also messages in them that need to be interpreted.
Since the 4th was so bad, the person responsible for the fight scenes in the first three parts, a luminary, was also scared away, the age of the actors is noticeable..., Morpheus was replaced, etc. That's why I have doubts as to whether there will be a fifth will give, but ultimately I have no idea, but one thing is clear, then we really have to step on the gas again and at least step it up a notch. As good as the first or the first trilogy... or something completely new in terms of technology and content, but that would definitely not happen. This level is no longer reached.
