Like that 16 year old kid saying it to that elderly man 15 times and ASSUMING he uses the word too (because all are the same right?) The show did more harm than good imo. @Horror It's no coincidence that all non-black people have enough self-respect to not let you say racial slurs around them; but we say our slur to each other and allow others to say it around us and to us. This is a direct cause of black american actions, and for the many things that aren't our fault, this is something that we just refuse to take responsibility for. This is our doing. The fact that these large companies don’t realize the massive cash cow they have in their hands is insane. A show like this would be easily clipped up across all social media platforms.

The easiest replacement for Granddad is his son JD Witherspoon who is spot on as his father and wants to do it to honor him. Charlie Murphy's part can also easily be done by his brother Eddie who also has him down cold. The Boondocks definitely needs to be back in this current climate, either bring The Boondocks back or do a spinoff The Uncle Ruckus Show.

It get cancelled because of too many creative differends between HBO, the production with its mistreatment of John Witherspoon's son and Aaron McGrudger. The fact that their unapologetic satire might stir up a lot of violent backlash from the W*ke Twitter kewboard warriors minority from HBO and Warner Bros seems to care a lot more over _anything_ , lately, didn't help.

It was real sad to find out John Witherspoon died a while back. This show is always been one of those shows that talk about controversial topics I thought what they could do is send Huey and Riley to the foster care program. Riley goes Tom. Huey we go to uncle ruckus. i’ve been through the program myself and it’s not good. the homes I went to we’re not good and most social workers don’t care that was the first time I went through it. Second time, my mom died and my family decided to abandon me. Luckily I made a friend who I would consider my brother he begged his dad to let me stay with them that was some of my happiest memories being with them

"Taking too long to get made" ...did-... did they know who they were working with??? Aaron was and probably still is the embodiment of "you can't rush art," which I say with both frustration and love. Like I still remember the sitting and yearning for new Boondocks, and in retrospect, I'd have waited a lot longer if it meant the second two would match the first two. Hell I'd wait another decade for a GOOD reboot. Maybe not that long actually. I'd be old.

I have accepted that boondocks was a once in a life time thing. The two seasons are a classic, You just had to be there. Luckily I was alive during this time. Lightning stuck once. And yea it was beautiful let's let go. *I know there was a season three but didn't hit the same as 1 and 2.

Two things that will always make this difficult. First of all, Granddad was a HUGE part of that show and you can’t just replace John Witherspoon in that role. Second, most fans aren’t going to accept a new Boondocks without Aaron. I think I watched one episode from the season after he left (something about the kardashians). It wasn’t the same, I haven’t seen another episode from that season and I probably never will. Aaron was the brains of that operation and the moral compass behind Huey. Without him, it doesn’t work right. I know he was onboard for the new series but he doesn’t seem like a dude who likes these kinds of “shelved reboot” shenanigans.

Growing up in a household of a silent man and loud women, John Witherspoon was the perfect Pops and Granddad that I needed to see on TV. They'll never be another one like him and even with a reboot, his iconic voice not being there will always not sit well with me. RIP John, I hope you still got on them shiny shoes and moving and grooving in that dinner

We really need this type of show. I think Atlanta did a fantastic job of creating commentary on black America and the society of America in general. But the Boondocks was special because it really had a telescope into the future. Sometimes things were so dead on it wasn’t humorous at that point. Brilliant show. RIP POPS.

It get cancelled because of too many creative differends between HBO, the production with its mistreatment of John Witherspoon's son and Aaron McGrudger.

It was real sad to find out John Witherspoon died a while back. This show is always been one of those shows that talk about controversial topics I thought what they could do is send Huey and Riley to the foster care program. Riley goes Tom. Huey we go to uncle ruckus. i’ve been through the program myself and it’s not good. the homes I went to we’re not good and most social workers don’t care that was the first time I went through it. Second time, my mom died and my family decided to abandon me. Luckily I made a friend who I would consider my brother he begged his dad to let me stay with them that was some of my happiest memories being with them
I worked on the reboot. Revealing the real reason why this couldn't get made might destroy my future career.

I think they give hilarious takes on movies and other things that they cover, and although they do cover black things, it does seem that it has to be mainstream for them to cover it and so I’ll admit that I do wish they would cover more black things as well.

Lol, She's a pretty great actress. Anyway, it's not even if something is mainstream or not when it comes to Black films, but it seems they criticize them harder and neglect the fact that there's a large amount of our community which likes the language and such of the films they have reviewed. Like, I'm all about folks having preferences and having an opinion, but myself and a few other Black guys have pointed out under certain vids (most recently, a review of Babyboy) that Korey seems extremely biased and comes off like he has a disdain for the Black community. Maybe it's just us though, but I know Cosby was the same way. Folks gave him A LOT of crap for it as well, reasons why so many didn't have a problem turning on him once the allegations came out. Especially fellow comedians. That last part is a slight tangent, so pardon me. Just putting things in perspective. 😅

Like I still remember the sitting and yearning for new Boondocks, and in retrospect, I'd have waited a lot longer if it meant the second two would match the first two.

I still remember when the Boondocks hit the Sunday paper. I was a comic strip kid. Calvin & Hobbs, Garfield, Kathy, Beetle Bailey & The Boondocks. Id never seen a hood comic strip. Plus they were still wild. 🤣 Rileys letter to santa was funnier when you read it. So is Santa's reply.
I am glad it got cancelled. They removed the original creator and also John Witherspoon's son wasn't used to replace him even though he had a pitch perfect recreation of his father's voice, and intonation. Don't take my word for it, use Google and see for yourself.

I would love a boondocks reboot.the episodes are timeless.But John Witherspoon son should definitely be allowed to do his voice and Eddie Murphy can do Charlie Murphy damn near identical. They have so many topics to cover like rappers, snitching, rappers who can't rap, and uneducated voters.
I have accepted that boondocks was a once in a life time thing. The two seasons are a classic, You just had to be there. Luckily I was alive during this time. Lightning stuck once. And yea it was beautiful let's let go. *I know there was a season three but didn't hit the same as 1 and 2.

Two things that will always make this difficult. First of all, Granddad was a HUGE part of that show and you can’t just replace John Witherspoon in that role. Second, most fans aren’t going to accept a new Boondocks without Aaron. I think I watched one episode from the season after he left (something about the kardashians). It wasn’t the same, I haven’t seen another episode from that season and I probably never will. Aaron was the brains of that operation and the moral compass behind Huey. Without him, it doesn’t work right. I know he was onboard for the new series but he doesn’t seem like a dude who likes these kinds of “shelved reboot” shenanigans.

I dont think the world can handle Boondocks, too sensitive and soft now. This show predicted and exposed so much that went unnoticed due to the great comedy it offered. Reboot wouldn't ever hit right without John Witherspoon. Rest in Peace to the legend, such an underrated comedian.
Unfortunately Aaron McGruder (sp?) sold all animated rights of The Boondocks to the cartoon network, which is owned by whoever now. As far as I know he only has rights with complete control of the comic strip. my fave boondocks ep was "lets nab ophra". hard to beat that

Crazy to think Sony who knows how long Animation takes is complaining how long a cartoon is taking to be made. These aren't generic Cal Arts animators nor do they have the manpower do crank stuff out.
Side note: Gary Anthony Williams has really slimmed down over the years, pretty outstanding.

Growing up in a household of a silent man and loud women, John Witherspoon was the perfect Pops and Granddad that I needed to see on TV. They'll never be another one like him and even with a reboot, his iconic voice not being there will always not sit well with me.

We really need this type of show. I think Atlanta did a fantastic job of creating commentary on black America and the society of America in general. But the Boondocks was special because it really had a telescope into the future. Sometimes things were so dead on it wasn’t humorous at that point. Brilliant show. RIP POPS.
