- Well I'm sick as a dog IRL right now so videos/streams are gonna slow, but I'll be posting some backlog and trying to edit when I'm not in bed. As for this video - this gamemode was actually pretty great fun. The players in Holdfast are always the best part of it, and we had some good times in this. We actually just ran into Corn and Squiders on accident, had no idea they were playing.
Extra shoutout to the devs who were just really cool and showed up and chatted during the stream. Cool dudes who solved the mystery of my magic repeating voice live.

There is something so uniquely WW1 about a man yelling "Forward!" Firing one shot and immediately getting shot in the face.

Ah, but here's the thing. We also lost WWI the least.
The US got the most benefits out of the war for sure, compared to how everyone else just lost in some way.
I think it's a reference to Congress being so slow that Versailles was formally recognized by US only in 2010's.

@@flapjack6828 Mostly with Congress and Senate being against President at the time.
Versailles sucked and was openly antigerman for reasons not even connected to that war, but not ratifying it wasn't done out of protest to what was in it.

I can't get over that the devs agree that their game is cursed, and then are able to figure out what is causing it while he is still streaming.
That indeed is an awesome job from them, and it also really helps when you've got the exact problem on the exact position really helps to narrow down where to look
agree with voron. it's very easy when you got the exact problem & specific location right in the livestream where you can interact with the reporter. by then they only need to contact the section that handles sound design

As someone who's played Holdfast for a few years now it's an interesting change of pace with the new WW1 mode and I'm glad more people are looking into the game

Makes melee basically impossible, and sniping is less of a thing. But it's pretty great and good arty can truly make or break your team.

HMS Gloworm did that too while charging KMS hipper , they'd steer the ship to the place the cruiser's shell would land , so effectively in fact , that they managed to ram it
Unfortunately Hipper was a heavy cruiser so the armor belt stoped the destroyer from causing any serious damage
Funny enough in the game the shells Actually can land at the exact same spot
@@legiovictrix5118 I hope you realize that, in real life, a shell can absolutely land in the same place twice and is not just a product of game logic...jeezus.
Neat, I always wanted a WW1 game that had some pretense of melee combat that wasn't just "Press melee button to poke enemy, that's all you get.", because it's not WW1 unless you're able to brain a German teenager with a sharpened shovel.

The editing is definitely a lot better in this, its toned back a lot more compared to the previous editor that overused a lot of sound effects and memes and feels a lot more like a video that rimmy would edit with only a few telltales that its a different editor with the sound effects and transitions. I personally would keep this editor if you can since he seems to have followed in a similar path to you for editing videos!
P.S. The editor seems to have done the subtitles really well for particular points of the vid when emphasising certain points so bonus marks on him for that!
I actually think the older videos were better. This editing still looks fine i don't have problems with it but it is certainly way less edited then the other videos. I actually think the editing was really good this videos editing feels really weird tho. The older ones were better.

Engineers are Aussies because if you can condense fortifications while having a spider the size of your head biting your left leg, a koala giving you clematia on the right leg, and a roo kicking you in the nads.. well constructing a pile of sandbags or digging a hole under gunfire seems refreshing.

I'm not really a fan of Holdfast but I think it's an interesting idea to go into WW1 with a Napoleonic era game. Can really drive home just how much more lethal weaponry became in the space of a century.
Certainly the most authentic 1914 experience as they themselves failed to realize that until thousands had died
When you think about it, it is an advanced form of line battles, but inside trenches.

The bloody lessons that defenders could easily repell double or triple their numbers when set up right, took over a year to be fully understood

2:58 AnvilGames, I know you are watching Rimmy's video, keep that ghost bug in but turn it into an easter-egg which will do a jumpscare of a ghost of a soldier appearing in front of you, if you hang around the spot and talk in voice chat for x amount of time.
As someone who played in the large regiment battles of napoleonic war in mount and blade warband(which several holdfast developers came from).This games melee combat is behind NW in terms of what can be done and how long it lasts. And I do like the rest of the game and the ww1 update which bridges between the two time periods
that counter against the alies needed Sabaton- Stormtroopers, because it was so violent and Rimmy was one of them.

Honestly, even with the occasional goofiness of Holdfast this looks like a much better WW1 experience than BF1 was ever going to be. Really thinking about getting the game just for this!

4:09 - Aaahhh the classic 0 0 coordinates bug. Happen a lot in code even on big corp program, there a reason some stuff get send into 0, 0 coordinate on google map. Its mainly because NULL most the time seen as 0 on those program. There bunch of reason why coordinate can get send NULL, empty, or 0. So yeah, weird stuff but pretty common.

I absolutely love the WWI mode they added. The pacing of the game is changed quite drastically from the Napoleonic era. .

I played couple hours of holdfast. While nice the reloading times made me feel... useless.
