The following did: Claude de Silva (closer to this song, especially the thamattama beat - and there's an ancient gem from 1945 - with thanks to GooneWJ). The 1945 recording is really interesting.
"Sumihiri Pane was first sung by Eddie Jayamanne in 1943 in B A W Jayamanne's production 'Sangawunu Pilithura'. This is the first recorded version of Sumihiri Paaney. Recorded by Wilfred Perera & V P Anulawathi for the HMV Gramophone Record Label in 1945. Lyrics by W D M Albert and Music by B S Perera who also played Piano for the recording.
