    ERRATA
    1:37 One day, all TH-camrs will learn not to quote prices that don’t match what’s shown on screen. But it is not this day!
    5:01 I meant to say “127 FPS”, obviously
    9:20 I wrote “around 500 FPS” in the script, but “above 500 FPS” came out of my mouth. Oops.
    12:35 Yes, that was an opportune moment to drop a So Solid Crew reference, and I missed it. Sorry, I dropped the ball on this one.
    NOTES
    This was all written before I learned about the 5700X3D. Right now I consider that chip to still be a rumour, and - if it is a repeat of the 5600X3D situation - then I will continue to ignore it after release. While I understand AMD needs to shift old silicon, products that are only available in one store in one country might as well not exist at all. All that being said, if it does get a global release, I look forward to reviewing it!

    1:13 the 5700X actually has the B2 stepping that is better binned than the earlier Zen 3 CPUs. It's how it manages to be so great despite its low 65W TDP. I got mine in September this year for the equivalent of 150GBP. I used PBO to get 5800X performance while avoiding the 5800X's heat issues.

    Been running one for a few months with a 5700XT, and it's an excellent 1080p budget combo for about £300. AM5, DDR5 and all that is great, but latter-end AM4/DDR4 is just too acceptable to justify the immediate jump for me. Before this I had a 1700X, and it lasted me just over six years before I really felt the need to jump ship. (though keeping in mind, I mostly play fighting games and more e-sports-y FPS). I reckon this generation of Ryzen will probably end up the CPU form of what Pascal was for so long, just sitting at the top of Steam component charts for the next half a decade because it's very affordable and "good enough" for the vast majority of people.

    I run a 5800X3D and 6800XT now and it's monstrous at 1440p.
    Anyone looking at getting the 5700X CPU as an upgrade will be very satisfied imo. I didn't overclock it, but it self turbos to about 4.4 GHz (according to Armory Crate and NZXT Cam at least).

Single-Player Tarkov runs very well for me even with a bunch of mods installed, and the Modern Warfare 1 & 2 reboots run near flawlessly. Most of my other games are indie games or somewhat unoptimized JRPGs, but those run beautifully after a few graphical tweaks.
      Disabling VSync actually helped me with frame stutters, and I barely notice any screen tearing if it's there. Don't doubt the combo, friend. This CPU and GPU are incredible and will make it through at least two more generations imo.

      7500f can work absolutely fine on any motherboard, even cheap a620 per 80$.
      The only difference is price of ddr5, anyway, for really good performance you need 6000 cl30 memory, but, anyway, this is just maybe 40$ more than good ddr4 kit.

    So I need to point at some things..
    1. The 5700X's PPT is ~76w at stock
    2. You let the Ryzen Master OC the cpu to the max which means it will hit up to PPT ~120w and will operate at much higher temps
    Testing the 5700X at stock ~76w and OC ~120w will make the 1-2% difference in gaming.. a lil bit more in all core workloads.
    I also have the 5700X and I'm cooling it with Phantom Spirit 120 and the CPU barely hits 50 degrees (cinebench), ~45 degrees in gaming (stock ~76w PPT).

    10:15 The newer call of duty games are notorious for not utilizing the proper amount of threads that a cpu has. I have a i5 11th gen chip and it defaults in the config to only use 4 cores. Not sure if this is at all related to your issues, but it is worth checking out. What I have resorted to is go in game set all the settings to my liking, then close the game to desktop. open the config file and set the correct amount of core usage, then set the config file to read only. For me it says
    //Thread count for handling the job queue
    worker_threads = "4" // 2 to 4
    And I change it to
    //Thread count for handling the job queue
    worker_threads = "6" // 2 to 6
    I did some experimenting with putting my actual threads vs physical cores..seemed to work better just using the core count for me. If might also differ between intel and amd cpu as I have heard. Sorry for such long message but this is pretty infuriating that call of duty can't even utilize CPU properly.. its absurd.

    I received my R5 5600 2 days ago and the performance of the 5000 series cpus has left me speechless.
    A few months ago I was also commissioned by a friend of mine to also build them a brand-new system and I snagged a 6950 XT and a 5700x alongside it which was extremely impressive for his 1440p heavy gaming needs.

      No 5800X3D on the commissioned build to assist with 1% lows? That's the one people keep saying is like the GTX 1080 Ti of CPU's. Well, there is still an over $100 price difference, so if there's a tight budget in mind it makes sense... Just saying since the 5800X3D will probably be relevant until AM6 releases.

      @K.C-2049 I have a 5800X3D, allow me to let you in on an open secret: it is such an excellent undervolter that you can adjust it down to, say, 1.0275V and it will still auto-overclock with PBO to 4.4GHz. This massively brings down temps from stock- about 10°-15°C both idle and under load with a decent cooler. A $40 Thermalright Assassin or the like is more than sufficient for cooling. It does not require an expensive cooling solution. This also reduces actual wattage draw of the 5800X3D to 50-60 watts, which brings it within the 65W TDP expectation of the 5700X at stock.
      The only reason to choose the 5700X would be the lesser base price due to having a limited budget, which is perfectly reasonable. But those other factors are in fact, non-factors with minimal and uncomplicated tweaking. Its almost criminal how high the voltage setting is at stock on the 5800X3D, because it is utterly unnecessary and the culprit of its perceived energy inefficiency.

    The current levels required for 1080p and 1440p gaming are unlikely to change much, and haven't for a while. True, new hardware comes out and games get more demanding, but what you can get for your money has been pretty stable for years now, and with people less willing to spend money for the latest hardware the majority of Gamers work with ... :
    PC GPU: RTX 1050 Ti to RTX 3060, which about matches the Radeon RX 6300 / 680M (R7 7735HS) to RX 5700 XT / 6600 XT
    Consoles: About the level of a RX 6700 XT or RTX 3060 Ti
    VRAM: 8GB to 12GB
    CPU: Zen 2 Ryzen 8 Core ( like Ryzen 7 3700X ) / Intel 12Th Gen 10+ Core ( like Core i5-12500H )
    RAM: 16GB to 32GB
    With AM4 supporting up to Zen 3, this means it is and will remain an interesting option for low- to mid-range gaming for a pretty long time.
    The Ryzen 7 5700X isn't the only interesting option here, just the best compromise. If for instance you want a strong gaming PC, you might want the R7 5800X3D instead which gets you near an AM5 in gaming performance, or if you want additional multithreading computation power there also is the R9 5900X .
    Aside from that there are many options for simpler Office to low-tier CPUs such as the Ryzen 5 4500, and AMD intends to release two new CPUs on top of things: The Ryzen 5 5500X3D and Ryzen 7 5700X3D - AM4 is far from obsolete.
    Honestly, if I had any say in this I would keep the AM4 around as an entry level solution even for the foreseeable future.
    Back to topic:
    For everything up to mid-range, just get yourself an R7 5700X with 2x16GB DDR4-3600 and pair it with either an RTX 3060 12GB or RX 6700 XT 12GB and you are good for years to come.

    Something I'd like to point out. Yer missing out on some additional performance (and temp headroom). Proper BIOS setup is key (instead of using crummy software). You'll want to go in and set up an undervolt via curve optimizer (I have mine running -20 on all cores). Also, you want to push the PBO2 max boost to as high as it'll go (should be +200 MHz). With this setup, my 5700X hits 4.85 GHz vs. yer 4.75GHz and averages 80C in a Cinebench R23 (15,600 multi and 1,570 single) 10 min loop on a 240mm AIO.

    I upgraded to the r7 5700x from the r5 2600, Massive difference in performance in newer cpu intensive games and well worth the 160 dollars I spent on it.

    most of the time it provides little more performance than the 5600x, so it isnt a great value. Jumping to the 5800x3d is the worthwhile purchase if you want more performance than the 5600x

      That’s fair but games are continuing to utilize more cores.
      Depending on your OS (bloated down) having the extra cores might not be a bad idea.

    As a 5700X owner, I would agree. I have mine undervolted, it runs cool and efficient. One of the best value CPU's of that generation.

    I upgraded my GPU to a 7800XT, but something didn't feel right, it wasn't performing as good as I expected.
    Turns out my 3600 was holding it back, upgraded to a 5700X, now it gets is full potential.

    ye i like this cpu. mine runs all cores 4800Mhz . the difference between pbo and all core is like 2000 points in cinebench r23 . that is like 13% more !
    i get over 16k and i have seen the new am5 7600 that is a six core cpu that gets like 14.9k . cheers!

    Im still running a 5700g that i sent to the moon with pbo. Got it running 4.65 all core and 4.85 single. I would push it further but it reverts to 4.65 if i try to push the boost any higher.

    And here I am in the market for a new CPU, upgrading from a 1700x.
    Have looked into the 3600, but the prices were increasing from September.
    So I started wonder about 5600.
    But it also increased up to the black friday, but didn't get a discount, where I live. And the prices haven't dropped since.
    5700X on the other hand is starting to look very very tasty.

    I upgraded from a ryzen 5 3400G to a r7 5700x and literally 2x-3x my fps on average on cyberpunk, insane performance on cinebench too, my 5700x outpaced an 5800x in points with a good cooler it never even dipped into 80°C at like 4.8-4.9GHz.
    Using a Thermalright 120 peerless assassin.
    And If you research on Undervolting your 5700x people have been reporting fps improvements while using less power and running cooler. Fps increases are very very minimal but measurable.

    my dearest's pc got an upgrade.. 5700x, mobo and 2x16gb ram cost just under 300 pounds :D added a 28 pounds peerless assassin 120 se. perfection, imho.
    locked at 4.2 and undervolted. it is beautiful!

    I am actually thinking of doing a new build with this 5700x... AM4 mobo's and DDR4 are at an all time low, and i'm not a fan of the temps of ryzen 7000, my mates 7600x is on a 360 AIO and still runs 80c+ when he pushes it. Thinking of just building one with 5700x 32gb 4000mhz ram and a 4060 or 6650xT

    Great CPU, only I am getting almost 16k in cinebench r23, I'm using it for more than a year, have it paired with 6650xt and cl14 ram. Everything OC'd. Will be good enough for years ahead.

    Back in April 2023, I bought an new RTX 4070 but still had a Ryzen 3600, I live in Southern California and when I was scrolling through offerup, a guy locally was selling an unbox new Ryzen 5700x for $100 USA , I messaged him asking why so cheap and he said it’s cause for his birthday he was gifted the cpu as well as a 5800x, so he selling other for cheap, I got extremely lucky lol

    On the 7500F, I believe the 5800X3 is faster in games, and the total platform cost will be cheaper. As for longevity, well, it'll last so long that you might jump to socket AM6. ;)

  • @Dingbat1967
    @Dingbat1967 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Decent modern chip. Yeah, you're stuck on AM4 but if you want to make a decent budget build and pair it with an RX 6650 XT or RX 7600 ... it's a pretty damn good value.

    • @Flyon86
      @Flyon86 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's still the ryzen 5800x3d you could upgrade to eventually if you get a more powerful gpu down the road, so it's not a completely dead end platform. 5600 or 5700x with a decent Radeon is definitely one of the best performance per $ you can get right now.

  • @couriersix2443
    @couriersix2443 ปีที่แล้ว

    See, I really wanted the 5700X when it dropped alongside the 5600. However, I couldn’t really justify it due to the $229 cost (at the time) vs $139 for the 5600, so that’s what I went with. Said it a ton but it’s been great, holds 4.8Ghz easily and temps are hardly a concern even with just a Wraith Prism cooling it. At its current price though, it’d be hard to recommend the 5600/5600X when they perform the same in any game that doesn’t scale with 8+ cores but the ones that do would see the benefit of the extra cores/threads for barely $20-30 extra at this point

    Thought about getting one last month but 5800X was only marginally more expensive so I ended up with that. After some fine-tuning, the temps doesn't skyrocket and it boosts up to 5GHz.

    I like my 7950x
    But I hate UEFI bios, and getting DDR5 to work with 4 sticks. Memory training takes forever. Sometimes you'll wait 10 minutes for your system to boot if it has to retrain because you changed a setting, screwed up, had to clear CMOS (get good at doing that), and back step to last good configuration.
    UEFI is pretty and well designed, but there is absolutely no Help or instructions telling you what every setting does.
