all that hornby anniversary stuff and the beetles themed stuff is pure unimaginative tat.
It’s great that Hornby is making Locomotion
Perfect for the 200th Anniversary of the Stockton & Darlington Railway in 2025
I was really hoping they would because the work of George and Robert Stephenson should not go unrealised
@Trainrhys Well. . We’ve had worse
@Trainrhysye it is £170 but id say its better than well a £220 loco right?
Any danger of 375/377/387 EMU’s rather than remodelling models that you already had?
I'll have to find somewhere else to ship anything I want from the 2024 range now Hattons is closing down
Is it actually?
@@bowser515 yup. Officially closing up
Good news about Hattons, isn't it? Can't be happier. I've had no end of trouble with them and abusive emails back when I've complained.
Rails of Sheffield has brought Hornby back into stock beyond pre-owned items. Otherwise The Model Centre also stocks Hornby. I’ve already preordered the GWR King Class 6029 “King Stephen” and the Rovex Anniversary 7 Plank from through TMC.
@MachRacer4 yes but It'd be easier to have someone VAT registered with the Irish taxman to avoid double taxation
Looks like a catch up year. I can't say there's much that's caught my eye.
I thought last year was a catch up year 🧐
2 Years of catch-up!!!! I placed an order for a loco immediately after the 2022 Year announcements and there is no mention of when those products are going to be manufactured or released.
That's an improvement for the Flirt. 2x 5-pole instead of 1x 3-pole that was listed on the website last year. 😍
At the very least, it’s nice to know Hornby’s coach line is still going. I’ve got the LNWR, LSWR and GNR sets and they’re beautiful. I’d like to see Hornby cover more liveries, perhaps Furness Railway blue or North Eastern maroon.
Nowt there for me personally. I was hoping for some HM7000 profile announcements.
Alot seemed geared towards collectors more than modellers.
The trainset side could use some innovations and serious thought if they want to appeal to the next generation
As for Skaledale why not re-release some old favourites like the gas works etc.
Just bought 2024 catalogue, though I was looking at last year's!!!
I hoped for a S & DR Locomotion Number 1 - THANK YOU Hornby - order placed in time for the 2025 200 yrs aniversary
It would be nice to see an E2 in the LBSC livery 🙂 and the return of the LBSC 4 wheeled coaches
Hopefully some good news after Hattons. Something green with southern on it would be nice.
Catch up year by the looks. Maybe Locomotion for me. I have LNER Coronation set and a Streamline B17 coming. Hope it goes well for the company.
As a BR (SR) modeller (1955 to 1965) there is nothing for me. Going by comments of other contributors the prices are horrendous. The last time I checked coaches I would like to buy they were around £75.00. Translate that into NZ dollars, add GST at entry and that would be about $NZ200.00. Also allowing for VAT off, and the ridiculous postage prices these days, I can’t justify the purchase.
Glad I collected most of what I wanted over last twenty years, but something Southern would be nice!
Wow that FLIRT is a lovely model. Ill be waiting for one of those I think - great trains. A 153 might also come my way.....
Thanks for sharing ! Hope prices will not explode even more... My favorite is Mayflower. It was a great model when first launched and we keep our fingers crossed it will be up to today's standards. Success for 2024 and Happy Model Railroading !
Excited for the 9f No.92203 'Black Prince', B1 No.61306 'Mayflower, Britannnia Class No.7001 'Lord Hurcomb', the GWR 1000 'County of Merioneth' train pack, and finally both the king classes. (I am excited mostly for Black Prince).
I would like to know how much each of the locomotives that I listed above will cost, does anyone know?
Nice to see Connie, Nellie & Polly (seem to vaguely remember that there was a fourth named variant?) back (for many their introduction to model railways via the Pickup Goods Set which could also make a welcome return) but it's a shame you couldn't use a body more like the original. Conversely, I can't see the point of bringing back the old Jinty with solid wheels when they are so common/cheap secondhand especially with the correct period couplings, etc. At what point do Hornby collectors realise that novelty items, eg the Beatles range, are just a waste of money/not realistic investments in their lifetime? Bring back BattleSpace, eg the Turbo Car?
The 2024 range looks fantastic and the 66 looks fantastic and it's fantastic the you are bringing out R30358 class B1 as I have seen it on many railtours through Chelmsford over the years.
I have been on the class 755 406 flirt from Marks tey to Sudbury on my ovations last year and seen it at Norwich as well
Chatting to Karl was interesting. I wonder how many of those era 1 coaches my Rocket will be able to haul!
Great video Hornby, those new models looks great as well. Cheers Josh
Great to see Locomotion being produced. Coming from Darlington got to get one or possibly two 😉can’t wait! Well done Hornby! How about a train pack ? But please don’t make it Limited Edition as so everyone can get hold of one and enjoy them.
Happy new year Hornby
On your YGH Sealions, how come you haven't fitted the protective foot bar over the two vacuum cylinders? Bachmann did it on theirs.
Rest in piece hattons
PEACE*
Looking forward to this I wonder what will be coming ?
Lovely. Thanks for sharing.
When will the Strathclyde railroad Class 101 be released? I have had it on pre-order and it was supposed to be an xmas present but oh well
Wonderful to see that 47606 Jinty is back in the range! I had one of the original Tri-ang 1950s models, and drove it almost to destruction 😂
Pre-ordered a class 08 and a few other bits. I can't resist yet another shunter. Tempted with a few others.
Not a single item in that lot interests me, nothing in the new TT120 scale is interesting, my guess is it's not the raging success Hornby (SK) hoped for. Too many toys like the beatles loco etc, good luck Hornby you are going to need it.
TT120 announcements will be in April I believe.
The next range announcements for TT:120 are being made in April. It’s an exciting time in TT:120, so many new models to be announced and so many more to come. It’s fair to say the uptake took everyone by surprise and 2023 ended up a race to keep up with orders. In these difficult times, thank goodness TT:120 came when it did 😁
I've just passed a class66 sitting in Haywards heath station. 👍
So looking forward to the flirt i see these pretty much every day go on them multiple times a year. The model does look amazing and cant wait to see it running on my layout.
Have to say, some nice looking new locos,
Will definitely be pre ordering Mayflower. A loco I’m excited to add to my collection after seeing them in real life as well.
Also the flirt looks cool, glad to ear there are going to be 2 motors at each en dog the u it’s, honestly feel that’s what Hornby should have done with all their trains like this (Pendolino, Southeastern 395, Eurostar) etc.
Good choice!
Research shows no part of Locomotion No 1 dates from 1825. It wasn't even called Locomotion No.1. Its original name was Active.
The Stockton & Darlington Railway was NOT the first public railway. That was the Lake Lock Railroad of 1796. Nor was it the first public passenger railway: that the Swansea & Oystermouth Railway of 1807. It wasn't the first railway to be worked entirely mechanically: the Middleton Railway in Leeds in 1812 was but that was a conversion and upgrade of an existing route. The Hetton Railway of 1822 is considered to be the first railway designed for mechanical working.
Nor was it the first railway to use locomotives: steam locomotives had been first commercially used at the Middleton Railway in Leeds in 1812.
Nor was it the first railway to use locomotives to pull passengers. Richard Trevithick's Penydarren locomotive had pulled wagons full of workers in 1804.
The one-off opening day of the S&DR, however, did see passengers on a public railway pulled by steam, but - and this is crucial - it was not a public passenger service. The public passenger service on the Stockton & Darlington Railway was worked by horses until 1834, four years after the Canterbury & Whitstable or Liverpool & Manchester. The ticketed guests on the opening day was a one-off event.
Info from NRM and On Historical Lines.
So, did those loco’s actually wear those jubilee liveries? If not, it would be a strange call to produce them now
They did/still do, not a made up livery
Was hoping for the 4VEP in BR blue or NSE livery, but my hopes were dashed.
Same here
Is there a vid about upcoming TT120 releases?
When will we be getting GWR sound profiles for HM7000
Im really hoping to get some modern EMUs and DMUs especially the class 377
A model of Locomotion no1 ....YYYEEESSS .. It's absolutely magical....you beauty...where do I order...Thankyou, Hornby..👍👍👍👍👍. By the way ... on the 200th Anniversary of Stockton and Darlington (2025), there's one loco that was at the 50th (1875 when new) , 1925, 1975 and still exists today...Fletchers 901 class No.910.
My credit card is still recovering from the Standard 2 moguls I bought recently, and is very grateful for the sparse nature of the 2024 Hornby announcements.
Cool
That means 7pm tonight Australia I’ll have to miss Dads Army it better be worth it.
Hopefully We Get New Train Sets
I got the only thing I wanted out of the Hornby 2024 range, the GNER HST. My Favourite powercar too, 43096 Stirling Castle. It was lead powercar in the first HST I ever travelled on, and on the first and only HST I have ever driven. Hull to Doncaster. Couldn't be happier.
Hi, I noticed the vid frequently had small jumps in the picture. I assume these were edits. So did you accidentally edit out the new GER T26 / LNER E4 2-4-0, easily made by mating a 2-4-0 chassis to the boiler, cab and tender from your existing J15? There were 100 T26 / E4s built, they operated from 1891 to 1959, and No.490 is preserved in magnificent GER Blue. But I expect you said all that in the portion that was accidentally edited out! It is, after all, Hornby's best chance to rival Bachmann's Improved Precedent 2-4-0 and plug that vital an very obvious gap in the Hornby range.
Just dreaming,
Best regards,
Bill.
Im looking forward for that FLIRT to be released
Good video , but how about some southern uk emu, class 405/4SUB & 415 4EPB.
YOUR MISSING A HUGE SALES COUP by not making these models. Cheers.
It’s an unfortunate shame that we’re losing Hattons this year.
Dear Hornby
Please focus on the railroad items.
There is a real need to encourage younger modellers into the hobby.
This hobby needs to become cool again and Hornby could be the face of that.
Eventually older models will stop illness etc
The hobby needs rejuvenation .
I hope that Hornby can take this consideration.
Many thanks Mark
Love the Locomotion. Miss Simon Kohler
I think it’s good you tell us which quarter your models will be released not which year.
I quite like the FGW Class 153 and GNER HST
Well they look good. Just hope they work as well as they look. But I guess it all comes down to price which probably don't look too good.
Fingers crossed for some Great Western sound profiles with HM7000.
I did give them some hints on GWR sound profile ideas. I said they need to get a driver to play a tune on the two tone whistles found on most GWR locomotives.
@@bentullett6068 I’ve sent several emails over the years suggesting a pannier sound profile, back when TTS was new.
I really hope we will get some more modern northern trains especially a class 333 😊
Suggest it to Revolution Trains mate. They do listen unlike Hornby. They're going to do a Class 180 and 175 DMU packs 😊.
Please bring back the Hornby Thomas Range! ( although I think Mattel chooses who uses Thomas merch )
👍😍❤️ Coming soon Hornby 2024 0o gauge

I think it would have been nice to feature the models you’re catching up on, seeing how little new projects there are, just to remind us what they actually are and how they are going
Thanks for the feedback Alpha, we will be shining a light on the models that will be released this year throughout our monthly Signal Box's to keep you informed off all the models being released in 2024 :)
Love 61306 Mayflower, wonderful you've made my day 😊
A Wartime Black Hush-Hush!!! I need it!
looking forward to April. can we have containers and mayflower please
Wonderful rolling stock. I wish it were just a bit smaller though, most of your locomotives and wagons don't very well fit on my H0-layout. They look huge in comparison to my H0 rolling stock and to large in comparison to the gauge. I have the Hornby Peckett W4 and the Terrier Bodiam and these somehow fit on my H0-layout and seem not to big for the gauge. Bigger than these small steam locomotives I dare not go. I have one Prairie and it looks gigantic, as if running on narrow gauge, so I don't very often use it. I wish TT had been a available when I started collecting a few years ago, it seems like a better fit between gauge and scale, and has more layout on the same amount of place. However switching from H0 to TT would now be an expensive thing to do 🥲
Fun fact this symbol is a peace symbol form Asia which is over 200 years old and in the 1930s the nazis used it but flipped it so it’s not a hate symbol but a peace symbol and if you look at google maps in Japan you will see it
Keep the amount made low so the prices are high
Please start selling these beautiful products in the US
I appreciate the difficulties but that isn't Nelly, nor Polly nor Connie. They are a totally different model and even lack the livery embellisments of the originals. They are not even a homage to the originals. Makes me sad because memorabilia is all about childhood memories and these locos are not part of it. I do wish you well with all your releases and a very succesful year. Some beautiful models.
Better quality control please
Hornby's models are good quality.
Nice
Can you please bring back the thomas models or at least explain why you stopped producing them
They do not have the "rights" from the brand owners to make Thomas products.
@@martinsurridge7390 oh
Loco's from my childhood still being cranked out, and I'm 73 !
Nice models but something does have to be done to get new blood into the hobby. The railroad range is good but some of the prices are not newcomer friendly for example £50 for smokey Joe, 30 for passenger coaches etc. Some of the train sets are decent enough prices but there does need to be affordable ways to add to the collection for those taking their first tentative steps into the hobby.
I don't want to moan, I'm raising it because I don't want Hornby to fail.
No TT120 news till April?? Why .is it ending due to poor sales or too expensive like all hornby.
Hardly poor sales 🤣 and Hornby TT:120 is not ending anytime soon. April isn’t long to wait and it’s going to be pretty impressive 👍
Does early April mean April 1st? 😜
Probably. I hope its good news.
@PebblesChan
@HighFell I hope your right .but we'll see in April. We need more suppliers in this scale .
@@triangttvstilligtt1184, I don’t understand why there is such negativity towards a genuine success in the British model railway scene. Anyway April will soon be here 👍
Some great looking models coming in OO, Locomotion 1 is so superb I have had to order one! Looks like a second layout in OO is on cards in addition to High Fell in TT:120
The 'joke' about Richard Hardy's name was ill judged given the provenance of what he meant to most railwaymen.
Here’s hoping for a bumper year, and even the ability to get it all out the door on schedule! Happy new Year to Hornby and all
I bought the azuma set
Where is the promised coach set?
Please an OO Electrostar! Some more modern image! The TFW Flirt, the 398’s and the 197’s!
Im dissapointed with the flirt changes motor wise tbh..
Having a motor each end is just a pain, double the decoder cost also.
Other manufacturers are managing to use powered couplings to allow just a single decoder and you could have also put a big motor inside the generator car.
The decoration and detail on it looks fantastic however, so that is a big plus.
Where’s the pretty one who normally announces the new stuff?
Is that the best they can do?
Will you have new Thomas and Friends range in their Railway Series looks for the 80th anniversary?
Hornby lost the production rights to do Thomas items. Bachmann are the only model railway manufacturer who make the Thomas range items now.
@@bentullett6068Then why couldn't Bachmann make the screen accurate replicas of the models in N scale, HO scale and G scale?
@@johnylitalo4163 theirs aren’t that far off.
I'm pretty sure they do. 🤷🏻♂ @@johnylitalo4163
@@johnylitalo4163you would be better asking Bachman. FYI, The licence fee is astronomical for anything Thomas related.
When are you guys going to get the licensing back for Thomas the Tank Engine
Hornby can you please add RHTT pls 🥺
With the collapse of hattons. This doesnt bode well for the manufactures.
Glad to see locomotion. And happy to see the lner trout wagons again.
I wouldnt be able to afford this hoby if i didnt have the job i do
I understand that this is your "catch-up" year, even though this you mentioned the exact same thing last year, so what on Earth has been happening? Over 40% of the range you announced last year has not arrived during the original annual scheduele and is now going to take until at least MID 2024 to arrive. It's just not good enough, at least an explanation to us on your blog/news would have sufficed into telling your waiting customers what's been going on.
Your strategy of announcing a plethora of locos/rolling stock/scenics all in one go just doesn't work properly anymore simply because you can't fufill all of them within a year timeframe, it's been like this for 3 years now and god knows how long this might take moving forward. I'd suggest to start changing to a quarterly range announcement like Bachmann does and it's a FAR better system.
Regardless, most of this does not really matter to me as I hardly bought anything from Hornby last year anyway!
It's all Triang, Hornby died in March 1963 after 25 6:47 years of 3 rail & from 1959 2 rail. Triang didn't know to do with Hornby leading to Bachman, Dapol and others muscle in and catch Triang in a pincer movement. Using the Hornby moniker, Triang has struggled and still doesn't understand what its customers want. Flounder is the word which comes to mind😮
Any idea when we'll get the class 43 TT120 set? That's when I'll be joining the scale. I was looking forward to seeing more here, bit disappointing.
Any of these models actually made in the UK ?
No
Virtually no models of anything are made in UK or Europe. Skills are in China these days for volume model manufacture.
Was hoping for a cross country hst pack been waiting for years ☹️😥
I no what it's like to wait I've been waiting for a class 310 for 41 years
Wasn't there a cross country hst pack rerun a couple of years ago.
@@chrisj6321 last one was power cars 2010 the new tooled coaches was 2019
To be fair, unless you are issuing the Tri-ang and Hornby Dublo engines with the original motors, branding them as the old models is just a marketing ploy.
The original 1950's models are still running today.
Will the latest Hornby motors have the same track life??
Unlikely
Still waiting for Queen Mary
Still waiting for LNER teak coaches
Still waiting for Pullman coaches
Still waiting for LMS coaches
But it’s ok if you like a rehashed Thomas model with the Beatles on it…..
Just like the good old days when we'd wait for the real models while a continuous stream of thomas dross was available. We've just swapped thomas for the beatles and this somehow offends you more?
Try getting someone who actually knows a bit about model railways to present, might actually generate a bit of excitement around the new range.
Unfortunatly manufacturers seem to base their releases more to collectors these days with prices to match, I used to spend a few thousand a year on this hobby but have not bought anything new now for the last couple of years, Prices now are pure madness I wouldnt mind so much if they made them in the UK at least you would get proper quality control rather than the rubbish from China. There is no way with prices now you can justyfy that China is cheaper with the increased shipping costs, Manufacturing and energy. Unfortunatly if things do not change this hobby will die for the many.
@robstrains8711 It's still MUCH cheaper to produce models in China. Prices would increase five fold if manufacturing was moved to the UK. Hornby's Airfix brand are actually moving production of their Quickbuild kits to India because it's too expensive to manufacture them in the UK.
We really do need more of those beautiful 0-4-0 steam locos. At £49 they are an absolute bargain. I would expect to pay at least £189 for a model like that with so many great features. As for more music related models why not consider the Bee Gees or ABBA? I love your Coca-Cola range of models especially that massive coke bottle on lowmac wagon that you are selling for £30. I can't say I've seen a full scale prototype on the network recently. On the food/drink theme, why not do a train set that has a goods van for each flavour of Pot Noodle with an 0-4-0 steam loco with the Pot Noodle logo on the sides of it? I'm sure the factory would not be able to keep up with orders. I'd buy a set for every member of my family, we all love a Pot Noodle!
I like a bit of sarcasm, lol!
Models are expensive, erratic running, difficult to double head, lack of spares for much of the range and too many issues to mention. Would not but again
That and same as every year I’m hoping for a twin set railcar.
2 Years of catch-up!!!! I placed an order for a Hornby steam generating loco with sync sound immediately after the 2022 Year announcements and there is no mention of when those products are going to be manufactured or released. My brother also placed an order for a different steam generating loco at the same time he is in the same position, We've ordered coach products which were shown on the Model World TV series no mention of these products either. Do Hornby care about information flow to their customers???
What true railway modeller is interested in the Beatles Products, the unreliable running 0-4-0 tank locos (no stay alive) in garish liveries, and plastic cranes on flat wagons? Why not concentrate on producing quality reliable running products (stay alive as standard) and less on the gimmicks and ridicules colour/graphic schemes.
Another year of catch-up, high prices for old designs, and no communication with the modelling world/customers...... no change at Hornby and they are likely to go the same way of Hattons and Warley Model Exhibition at this rate.... its a shame that this household name is being steered so poorly.
Some great models there.
