Too bad. I've tried like all of these and still nothing because the sad reality is that we're too poor. Edit: I just want to say that all of these replies have warmed my heart. It's good to know I'm not alone
Hang in there- I wanted a horse SO BADLY my entire childhood... never got one. I even worked at the barn in exchange for my lessons. I had to grow up, get a job, and buy myself a horse! I got my first horse at age 35 :-) It's never too late!
When I was 6 or 7 I made a Christmas wish list with 12 horses and tack and supplies for all of them. And I had glued pictures on the list too😂 I was going to do lessons as a child, and I thought Santa was really going to come through! The list was literally a giant trifold poster board. I eventually got my mom to lease me a horse for Christmas years later
The end... 🤣 I would like a horse, and I started to save the money. Now I am very close, and probably I am going to make it this summmer. I am so excited! I love your videos.🐴
10, 11, and 12 would probably just get me in trouble 😂 I've got a job helping out w/ carriage rides and I'm currently saving up to feed-lease the horse that I lesson on... My resolution this year was to save up 3 months of lease (1,000+) even if I don't actually start leasing her yet. :D
When I started riding we already had a farm and my grandma had always wanted a horse so one I became skilled enough we started building. It’s not finished yet but we have a few horses. I’m so thankful that I have this opportunity and I hope everyone here eventually gets to the pony of there dreams
@@Jerry_the_cat I would like an Appaloosa or a paint, but my trainer said they were stubborn, so now I really really really want a dappled grey, possibly named Star, show name Make a Wish
Another small suggestion don't go directly into asking for your parents to buy you your own horse start leasing or just simply helping out at your local barn. My parents weren't completely on the idea of buying a horse but they allowed me to lease a horse that they soon assisted me in buying (Still have to pay monthly fees for boarding). Or something that worked for my friend she worked at our local barn and had a few side jobs and eventually got a decent amount of money to the point where her parents paid the rest of the cost of a horse.
Well I'm gonna work my way up to getting a horse, and not beg my parents. First I start get books about horses(which is the stage I'm on ), then next year start riding lessons when the spring starts in March (Mum said she would sign me up ). After I have reached the stage where I cant progress more with the lessons horses (which are normally older ), I will save money to loan/lease a horse and when my lease has ended, I save up money to eventually buy one that is right for me!!!!! I also talk a lot about horses to my friends since I loveee horses they starting to hate me. :( But...... that not stop me from loving horses.
It's not just getting the horse! It's feeding, cleaning stalls, buying tack, learning to ride, vet checks, hoof care, and the list goes on. Leasing is a good way to prepare for all of that responsibility. Your horse will love you for it.
So I don't have a horse but I really want to do lessons! And I think that doing chores will make my parents let me do lessons! But throwing a tantrum will make it way worse and they will never get you a horse.and thanks for the tips😀

I cannot get a job as I’m only 13. I have 7+ years of riding experience but I just can’t convince them! I have asked for a horse before and it ended in tears! Please help me convince them! What day I say, do or anything like that? Thanks!

I've tried everything apart from putting up messages around the house.. my parents would just get mad. And the nearest stable is only like- three miles away! And there's two near me! It's really sad. I've been trying for years and the most I can ever get is lessons, and I even had to quit those due to breaking my wrist. It's really sad! I just want a horse, but all I get is a solid no. Like, not even an 'I'll think about it.' It's always no. I'm still young but it's a good experience, right? And I could get a rescue from a meat farm or something. Save a horse's life. And I don't even want to show! Just trail ride and general stuff.... anybody have any more tips for how I can get one? I'm desperate.
First off, I'm so sorry! I feel your pain. I have wanted a horse since I was 10 and I didn't get to get one until I was 26!!!!! I did all the things in this video but the reality is I didn't get one. Well if you are desperate I do have a few real ideas for you depending on how old you are. If you're old enough to get a part time job (even if its under the table like babysitting or walking dogs or washing cars or anything!) get one NOW! You should figure out: 1)how much board is at the barn that is close to your house. 2) how much hay costs in your area (that might be included in the boarding fee). 3) How much do hoof trims cost in your area 4) How much do shoes cost (if your horse needs shoes) in your area? Your horse will need about $1000 (minimum) for teeth floating and vaccines each year (MINIMUM). Figure out all that cost and then start saving. If you want a trail horse you could get a nice one for $3000. Alot of mustang makeover horses sell for alot less than that but they are good horses. Add all those prices up and figure out how much it would cost for you to own a horse for an ENTIRE year. Then start working and saving. ONCE (not before) you have enough money to own a horse for a year present your plan to your parents. Heres example of what I'm talking about: Hay: $10 per bale 6 bales a month = $60 + $40 of supplements = $100/month Barefoot trim: $50/ month Vaccines / teeth float for year: $1,000 One time Horse cost $3,000 (thats a great budget - Kazi was free!) Board: $600 / month (this is a very high board! I hope yours is more like $300) Add it all up: Board 600 + Hay 100 + Trim 50 = $750 / month 750x12=$9000 + Vaccines + Float $1000 / year =10,000 Horse cost $3000 + Care for a year $10,000 = $13,000 $13,000 divided by 12 months = $1,083 If you got a job right now and made $270 a week you could save up in one year! Just think: this time next year you could be buying yourself a horse for Christmas! Of course most people won't do this. Or they'll tell their parents the plan and their parents will say "no" and that'll be enough to stop them from living their dreams. BUT you don't have to take no for an answer. Of course you have to respect your parents but MOST parents would end up saying yes (they probably don't actually think you'll do what it takes thats why they say no) to the horse idea if you presented it like this: "Mom, Dad. Here is the math. For the last 12 months I have been working hard saving up for a horse. Now I have $13,000 saved. Thats enough money to spend $3,000 on a horse AND pay for ALL of the horses needs for an ENTIRE YEAR. YES I'm that dedicated. And of course I'll keep working so that I can continue to afford $750 in monthly care for my horse BUT I've worked hard for the last year so YOU COULD SEE that I am dedicated and passionate about owning a horse and I'll do WHATEVER IT TAKES." Lets say WORST Case scenario they say "no." Even when you have $13,000 saved. Well I don't know how old you are but I would keep working and saving and then when you move out you would be able to definitely afford a horse! I know this was long but I am SO passionate about girls making their horse dreams happen. I wish I would have done what I'm telling you to do. I could have but I didn't know it. Please don't wait for your parents to give you a horse on silver platter.. they won't. You have to work for it if you really want it! And don't wait until you're 26 like I did!
I am happy that people can ask there parents for a horse but on the other hand some can’t afford what they want most and the comments of this video showed me that a lot of people are also not able to afford them

2) how much hay costs in your area (that might be included in the boarding fee).
3) How much do hoof trims cost in your area
4) How much do shoes cost (if your horse needs shoes) in your area?
Your horse will need about $1000 (minimum) for teeth floating and vaccines each year (MINIMUM).
Figure out all that cost and then start saving.
If you want a trail horse you could get a nice one for $3000. Alot of mustang makeover horses sell for alot less than that but they are good horses.
Add all those prices up and figure out how much it would cost for you to own a horse for an ENTIRE year. Then start working and saving. ONCE (not before) you have enough money to own a horse for a year present your plan to your parents. Heres example of what I'm talking about:
Hay: $10 per bale 6 bales a month = $60 + $40 of supplements = $100/month
Barefoot trim: $50/ month
Vaccines / teeth float for year: $1,000
One time Horse cost $3,000 (thats a great budget - Kazi was free!)
Board: $600 / month (this is a very high board! I hope yours is more like $300)
Add it all up:
Board 600 + Hay 100 + Trim 50 = $750 / month
750x12=$9000
+
Vaccines + Float $1000 / year
=10,000
Horse cost $3000 + Care for a year $10,000 = $13,000
$13,000 divided by 12 months = $1,083
If you got a job right now and made $270 a week you could save up in one year! Just think: this time next year you could be buying yourself a horse for Christmas!
Of course most people won't do this. Or they'll tell their parents the plan and their parents will say "no" and that'll be enough to stop them from living their dreams. BUT you don't have to take no for an answer. Of course you have to respect your parents but MOST parents would end up saying yes (they probably don't actually think you'll do what it takes thats why they say no) to the horse idea if you presented it like this:
"Mom, Dad. Here is the math. For the last 12 months I have been working hard saving up for a horse. Now I have $13,000 saved. Thats enough money to spend $3,000 on a horse AND pay for ALL of the horses needs for an ENTIRE YEAR. YES I'm that dedicated. And of course I'll keep working so that I can continue to afford $750 in monthly care for my horse BUT I've worked hard for the last year so YOU COULD SEE that I am dedicated and passionate about owning a horse and I'll do WHATEVER IT TAKES."
Lets say WORST Case scenario they say "no." Even when you have $13,000 saved.
In like a couple of years when I’m great at horse riding my mum said I could loan a horse for now!
Does this actually work tho?
Not my dad being gone 💀🖐🏾
Thank you so much I got a horse for Xmas!,!,!!!’!:
I am happy that people can ask there parents for a horse but on the other hand some can’t afford what they want most and the comments of this video showed me that a lot of people are also not able to afford them
