Hey Jeremy, I always hear the polyphony mentioned and how it can cause issues with more complex pieces, but I never see anyone actually show what that means or examples of it being a problem. I would love it if you could show that off in a video. Like by showing a piece on a high polyphony keyboard, and then showing the same piece on a low polyphony keyboard to demonstrate "note dropouts" for those of us who don't have experience with the issue.
I guess the limit only occurs when you are playing with 10 fingers, use chords massively and use the sustain pedal where you should hear sustaine sounds as well as actual played notes. And drums in the background, … I guess you need to play like Jeremy to see the difference. But i also want to hear the difference as i don’t know how much is enough 16? 32? 64?
I have been playing the Go Keys 5. I recommend downloading the full user manual to learn all the features of this great keyboard. I have been using headphones because the onboard speakers are not robust enough for this great keyboard. This keyboard is a joy to play and I am discovering new sounds and features all the time.
Excelent piano-keyboard -synth! Bought it a month ago looking for budget digital piano, but with limited space room. The keys are non weitghted ,but with the same size like normal piano and stiffened to give You fine playing. All Yamaha's keybord have so light and slippery keys gives you fell bad. Although have good sounds like this Roland. And GO Keys 5 has very good, strong with bass sound!!!! Absolutely recommend this Roland
Wonderful review. You covered the arranger function better than any of the other videos I've seen about this keyboard. Your pros/cons about this series had made me take another look at it.
I bought the go keys 5 and love it! I wish they put midi pin in outs on the back. Even my old $300 casio from 2001 has that! I want to be able to connect it to my Yamaha Reface Cp.
I like the spec's of the Go 3 Keys but interested in the organ sounds & wondering how good the leslie sounds are and how they are controlled with speed up & down. I had a Korg Microstation that hade a wicked "dirty B3" sound that I loved and did a passable job with Leslie sounds.
I tried the go keys 5 in the music stored the other day, and no doubt it has the best sound engine among all the keyboards of this price range. I'd even go as far to say that some of the voices (such as EP and strings) are better than those on my Yamaha CK61, which is twice as expensive. Too bad that I don't like the feeling of the keyboard action.
I use the GO 5 with my mpc one plus in standalone mode. I use the usb audio from the keyboard to take some of the load off of the weak processor in the mpc. The speakers on it really surprised me too.
Hi Jeremy, hope all is well with you and yours. Looks as if you have talked me into buying one of these (the 5). And right when I thought I had finished with keyboards, being content with the Yamaha G.P. and computer-sourced music. But this looks fun and musically rewarding - still a bargain, even though dearer here in Oz. Thanks Jeremy.
I got the GoKeys 5 recently (already have the GK3), but I am noticing some weird faint cracking sound coming from the speakers. I didn't have this issue at all on my GK3. This happens with several sounds such as acoustic and electrical piano playing at low volumes. I have posted a sample of the issue on my channel. Can anyone confirm there's something wrong with my Keyboard before I send it back?
For me, the chord sequencer alone makes them worth the price. I don’t need an onboard sequencer, I record the content of the keyboard to my MPC One (multiple track audio and/or sampler).
you should try roland go keys 5 because it came with mic input so you can sing + play piano + and record it in one time. if we can do that with go keys 5, so it will be a great tools for songwritter. can you test it for us
A very interesting instrument at a good price. The expansion capabilities are great. I also like the KORG i3. Very good sounds and styles, reasonable price.
I just purchased a GoKeys 3 for the quality sounds and price. Can to learn it has Bluetooth and I can easily connect it with my iPad and the soft synth apps I have loaded onto it. Only criticism is the very weak User Manual. I am still trying to find how to access drum patterns!!!
Hi, JeremySee. I hope you're doing well! I wanted to ask your opinion about two keyboards: the Roland GO Keys 5 and the Yamaha PSR E473. In your experience, which one would be better suited for a beginner music producer? Thanks so much! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
Great video as always👍 I have been extolling the virtues of the Go Keys 3 & 5 for some time now. At the moment, they are unbeatable in their price range and probably competitive at double the price. This is a good review. On the plus side the Roland Zen Core sounds are professional quality Yamaha can't compete and any Casio I've heard can't compete with Roland either. End of comparison, the most important thing is sound quality. Would have like to hear a sound comparison of Go Key 3 vs 5 speakers. This is the best Piano demo for Go Keys 3/5 I've heard, was this through the audio out (likely) or a mic to the speakers? The Zen core sounds are incredible but how well the piano sounds is the baseline to compare. One thing I don't like is the headphone output has a plastic ring gap its a bad mechanical design the audio jack is smaller than the hole in the housing. I'm trying to decide Go Keys 3 vs 5. The sound engines are identical, but practicing vocals and better speakers and 1/4 audio outs count. First review that mentioned half pedaling for Go Keys 3/5, worth getting the DP10 pedal for that reason. Roland advertises 128 polyphony not 256 but 128 is plenty and I believe other video mentions possible 256. Polyphony matters using sustain pedel and fast compositions.
keep practicing/playing, and you'll get there. It's all about "time in the saddle" (as we used to say at the bike shop). Never thought I'd get above simple playing either, but just keep at it
Jeremy, Thank you for all your great reviews. I played Trumpet semiprofessionally, and due to my disabilities, will probably never play close to the level I once had. Due to my limitations, a fully weighted keyboard is probably out of the question for me. These new Roland keyboards are intriguing. Because of my situation, whatever I buy, will have to due for a long time. A few people have mentioned the lack of a multi track recorder might or might not be a deal breaker for me. To be honest the new $199.99 Yamaha keyboard you reviewed last month, may have features I may never fully utilize. It seems that the differences between the go keys 3 & 5 are not significant for the price difference. A $50 to $75 increase would make sense. Advice?
Wanna hesr my advice? Get Keys 5 ! Much better bassy speaker . You may easily practice and even perform for samll group of people. I bought it month ago lookin for digital piano ,but have limited space in my room. This one is the best for the price! It's non weighted keys ,but have the same width. It's also stifer and close to a real piano! It's stunning in this price range and no competition
"Calm down puppies!" Hahaha, that's awesome. I'm going to use that the next time I get in an argument with somebody! 😂 But seriously, thank you for this. I'm not in the market for an arranger keyboard right now, but it's good to know that Roland is not asleep at the wheel.
Hello Jeremy, I have watched so many of your videos. I have a bad right hand. My little finger and ring finger have nerve damage. I try and get by but will never be able to play full chords with my hand. I was thinking can you answer one question or do one short video on this. I have never seen anyone talk about the proper distance you should be from the piano height wise. Weather standing or sitting. I play guitar and many people show proper distance and wrist movements. I was curious on if I should sit or stand higher or be level with the keyboard.
Hi, sound amazing… In which GM sound does is operates? GM our GM2?!… Simple question only need to answer if the previous answer were GM, if it’s comparable with the Korg Sounds I were thinking about getting the Korg EX-50 L to play mainly my personalise MIDI File, but then I saw this Video, is it our not a better choice this Roland… I’ve just returned the i3 from Korg because of the sound quality, and I’m a bit worried about what to buy now…
@@JeremySee Damn, you're right. My bad. It's impressive how the price went up in a couple of years. I was outdated local pages here at chile because none have it on stock
Jeremy, what is the name of that classical piano piece you always play at the beginning of your video's? I recognize it but can't remember the title....G#+B+A+Ab+Eb+C#+D#+E+B... Thanks.
Your keyboard reviews are great, but I really hope your working to fix the way the first joint of your fingers collapse/bend backward so often. I believe it leads to less control and even a greater risk of tendon injury.
Hey Jeremy, Do you recommend me this one or the Casio CTS1 ? Not need rhythms or a lot of sounds, I dont care about that, I want a portable one that can be used with logic using midi (usb) for virtual instruments, and the one with less plastic sound in the keys while playing and singing to avoid my condenser mic to grab the keys action plastic sound, just need basic but cant find which one (GO Keys 3 or Casio CTS1) is better
I'm oversaturated with piano reviews. I'm old, and want to learn piano. But I like the idea of a lot of sounds. Beyond that, should I be learning with 88 keys, and the more traditional weights or is a keyboard like this just fine? It's very attractive price and capabilities makes me think it will be more than enough.
It all depends really. For me personally, I am in a band and I often play chords and some melodies and I don’t really need 88 keys. However, if you’re playing for yourself at home it will probably be beneficial. Also, weighted keys and unweighted keys come down to preference. Most pianos will have weighted keys, so if that’s what you eventually want to have then get them.
Great video!! 👍 Jeremy, could you help me choose MIDI-keyboard? I love to experiment with sound and play different instruments on my keyboard. I haven't had any MIDI-keyboard yet, only had (and still have) training 61 keyboard, so I'm planning to dive into MIDI world. So I have 3 keyboards that I have an eye on: Arturia Keylab Essential 61 MK3(1) (I've seen your video, it's great); M-Audio Oxygen Pro 61(2); Novation Launchkey 61 MK3(3). What I like about 1: lots of positive reviews, looks great, has a lot of different sounds, relatively new. What I don't like about 1: only 8 pads (is it enough?), pads on the left and sliders on the right (some people wrote that this keyboard is better for left-handed people, but I'm right-handed) What I like about 2: a lot of pads, has all of 1-st keyboard functions and integrates with every DAW easily. What I don't like about 2: lack of information about keyboard quality. What I like about 3: a lot of pads. What I don't like about 3: lack of information too. Which one would you recommend? I really can't decide because I'm only able to choose them online and order one. Thank you in advance!! ❤😊
Excellent review of these two powerhouse Keyboards! Amazing flexibility jampacked with sounds. Like the Keybed, will have to check one out locally. Thanks Jeremy always enjoy your reviews.
I just bought a Go Keys 5 and it is an amazing instrument for sure, but I have noticed pretty severe distortion/vibrations in the built in speakers playing using certain patches even at normal playing volume. I am wondering if this is an issue with my keyboard/manufacturing batch or if this IS how the speakers do sound (construction/design issue). I'm wondering if Mr. See noticed this when reviewing the keyboard?
Why do they have 5-octave keyboards running from C to C and not F to F like 5-octave Viennese fortepianos? This would instantly make them way more versatile, due to being suitable to play classical music on them, which is mostly impossible due to lacking range in the low register on a C to C 5-octave instrument.
So essentially, if all someone wants is a reasonably priced Keyboard to simply mess about on then go for the Go:Keys3, but if it’s going to be used for anything more serious than this with the option to plug it into an amp or the desk at any stage, then the Go:Keys5 would be the better choice between the two. Therefore as a guitarist and Bassist that wants something reasonably cheap that can be used by a gigging musician who wants to expand their tonal options at either gigs or simply recording, then the Go:Keys5 does look like a reasonable option. One question, are there any suitable patches on the 5 to emulate the sound of Bagpipes or Northumbrian Pipes ? As a British folk Musician this is a sound I would be looking for, for any keyboard to produce. And maybe some of the classic late 70’s early 80’ Tubeway Army/Gary Numan thing, to add another string to that keyboard bow.
Hi, Jeremy. Thaks for this vid! As for me, One of the most weak side about Roland keys is that fact that their piano sounds pretty attractive in advertisement by ear, but when you decide to buy roland keys, they are absolutely unacceptable in playing - so rude, so bricky, so unresponsive for dynamics that it just could make angry, however the timbre still sounds same like in Advertisement (no cheat). So maybe the problem is in lack attention to better dynamics response... This problem last for years. (do not know how it with modern keyboards) I called that 'Roland Piano curse'. Meanwhile other brands such as yamaha, and even cheapest keyboards with poor piano timbres much more drives you to play, since worked with dynamics fine. Now looking this vid I catching myself going same wrong way. )) I love the demonstration and piano sounds. But I am afraid that it will be bricky and with bad response at piano and pianissimo which is important about piano timbre. Its pretty evil joke to make good piano timbre be as responsive as toypiano. Some way as I was tricked by Roland Lucina' piano which sounds good but completely impossible to play any piano pieces for me. So when I see piano keys I look if it Roland, and if it is - i'm saying myself "No, man! You already have one unplayable Roland piano" Today is hard to be shure you are getting good tool.
Love you jeremy, calm down puppies xD. If I had the money I'd get, for now tho going to try an get laptop to record clear music here in the future. Keep up videos! Also love how your fingers just kinda dance as you play, what is that button your hitting with left hand randomly? Lastly you hitting that roller ball peddle thing was epic..never ever saw that b4
Please I'm from Africa and i cannot do without african styles. One thing i love about Yamaha keyboards is that Yamaha has tacken Africa into consideration by bringing in african styles in their keyboards like the Yamaha PSR e,S,and SX series. I love everything about this keyboard but my question goes thus; are african styles available in this keyboard or in Roland's website?
I still have a yamaha psr and mm6, besides that also a korg pa50sd, but I have bought a roland xps10 because I used to have a roland alpha juno 2, for me the sound of the roland keyboard is heavier than the others.
Kudos to Roland for making an affordable keyboard that isn't utter trash. All they need to make is a 76-key version. All budget keyboards like PSREs and CTX are so toyish and horrible. Yamaha really needs to stop recycling and facelifting their early 90s keyboards and start making the PSRE decent and appropriate at this modern times. I own a EW425 and it's based on E473 and the other sounds like electric guitars were annoying. Almost all Super Articulation Lite is muffled like a low bit rate MP3 files. Style controls are limited (Can't intro again). No mixer when changing the voices. I hope in E473 they will adress the problems especially in sound quality and features.
How does multitrack recording work on this keyboard? Does it need to be hooked up to a computer? My current keyboard is really old, so I'm looking for a replacement. It's a Casio WK7600 with a 17-track recorder, which facilitates convenient music creation. How does the Roland Go Keys 5 compare, in terms of ease of building a song track by track? Also, is there a 76-key version of the Roland Go Keys?
Hello Sir ! Thanks for uploading this video. I'm a middle aged man and just started learning to play digital piano. I'm not sure which one to buy between Roland Go Keys 5 and Yamaha DGX 670 . My fingers and Palm are small in size. My budget is US Dollar 1000 . As Yamaha DGX 670 has many features it would inspire playing for many more years and no need to substitute another digital piano as learning progresses, thus cost savings in my opinion. But if Roland Go Keys 5 helps learning significantly easier and learning curve becomes shorter then I would definitely buy Roland Go Keys 5 . So I need your suggestion in this regard. Greetings from Kathmandu, Nepal 🇳🇵🙏❤️ .
GoKeys does not make learning easier or faster. No keyboard features make learning faster. You simply have to practice a lot to train your brain. There are no magic shortcuts to reduce learning curve. Some available training is better than others - depends on what your piano goals are though.
If you are going to be a serious learner, DGX-670 is the way to go. It’s a digital piano, so the key action mimics an actual piano. GO:KEYS are purely musical keyboard. DGX-670 also have 88 keys which would be better for learning.

Roland is back into their "original" arranger keyboard, instead of rebranding Chinese keyboards like the E-X models

Jeremy your videos are extremely beneficial, very good to see them before making a purchased ,you explain everything very well !
the green looks so calming
It seems to me that I already fall in love with these keyboard. Thank you Jeremy
Great review. I'm really considering the Go Keys 5 as a portable option to supplement my big Yamaha DGX-650.

Thanks Jeremy for a great, honest review. I am wondering is it possible to make your own styles? And how about midi files, through USB?
Hello! Will this keyboard allow you to play the song “Lazy” by Deep Purple?
Need better organ patches. And add a separate modulation/leslie control. Otherwise, pretty damn cool.

Nice. I hope we'll get soon a comparison between this one and the Yamaha psr-e383. which one is your favourite?
i say the main issue might be the keybed..i am not a fan of the roland spring action. its too stiff for me.
I prefer my Yamaha PSR e373 over my Roland GoPiano.
"Calm down puppies!" Hahaha, that's awesome. I'm going to use that the next time I get in an argument with somebody! 😂 But seriously, thank you for this. I'm not in the market for an arranger keyboard right now, but it's good to know that Roland is not asleep at the wheel.
The industry needs to move away from these small, low-res, monochrome screens.(at least for 250$+ models) Navigating trough these is terrible.
And also, 90s sounds like they really, really need to get away with that. It's sounds annoying.
they still using those lame screens cause they cost .99 cents to them, robbing the consumer in the way. yeah they SUC!!!
Love the sounds and the keyboard action. Wonderful instruments worth twice the price.
Is there a way to turn off the speakers? I've connected two cables from output sockets to my external device but don't want to hear the speakers 😊?
Insira um plug na saída de Phones.
Yes I think there should be the option in the settings. Maybe look into the full Manual that you can find online
How does this compare to the Casio CTS500 or the yamaha CK61?
I am always surprized how good my good old PSR-520 sounds 30 years ago.
I have no money for such keyboards but I honestly just like how you play haha
Hi, sound amazing…
In which GM sound does is operates?
GM our GM2?!…
Simple question only need to answer if the previous answer were GM, if it’s comparable with the Korg Sounds I were thinking about getting the Korg EX-50 L to play mainly my personalise MIDI File, but then I saw this Video, is it our not a better choice this Roland…
I’ve just returned the i3 from Korg because of the sound quality, and I’m a bit worried about what to buy now…
Ok which one to get for best sound and performance? Roland GO Keys 5 , Korg EK-50L /50, or Yamaha PSR e383?
It's 339 euros for the gokeys 3. is it a good deal?
4:12 to be fair, Korg Kross 2 also have expandable sounds which costs a little bit more than this Roland Go keys
Sweetwater prices. Kross 2 $929. GoKeys 3, $349. "Costs a little more"? That's almost 3X.
Thanks.
Because the GO:KEYS 3/5 have Zen-Core sound engine, I am veeery interested in comparing the sound of them with Fantom-06.
I love my Yamaha DGX 670 it’s cost around 700$ but you can’t beat realistic sound and I bought because of Jeremy See
Which external speaker should i use for this please?
Thank you, Jeremy. Could you please compare them with the Casiotone CT-S1? Specially in sound and key action.
As per usual Mate, you are doing my job for me. I will be heading out to get this keyboard. You really are the best
Your keyboard reviews are great, but I really hope your working to fix the way the first joint of your fingers collapse/bend backward so often. I believe it leads to less control and even a greater risk of tendon injury.
Do you know if I can hook this up to my PC and use it with FL Studio? Many thanks
Most pianos will have weighted keys, so if that’s what you eventually want to have then get them.
if you want to learn piano, get a 88 key one with weighted keys.
Keep it SIMPLE. I am also over 60.
I looove my kawai 88key ES920.
Does the Roland Go keys teach beginners how to play the keyboard?
Beautiful challenge to imagination and creating emotional experience
Original Roland GO piano had a weird velocity curve assigned to the keys
Go keys 1 keybed sucks too!
Roland go keys 5 or Roland xps 30?
What I don't like about 1: only 8 pads (is it enough?), pads on the left and sliders on the right (some people wrote that this keyboard is better for left-handed people, but I'm right-handed)
What I like about 2: a lot of pads, has all of 1-st keyboard functions and integrates with every DAW easily.
What I don't like about 2: lack of information about keyboard quality.
What I like about 3: a lot of pads.
What I don't like about 3: lack of information too.
Which one would you recommend? I really can't decide because I'm only able to choose them online and order one. Thank you in advance!! ❤😊
I also love the nord stage 5 I know it is not a practice keyboard but it has the best sound engine i ever heard.
Err... $3K for Nord Stage 5 vs $350 for this.. 🤔
No, kidding I have the Nord stage 2 and 3 bundle for Kontakt. 40.00 vs 3 to 5K, Maybe not as warm as the Hardware? But sounds like a Nord to me
One thing I can't seem to figure out...does it support MIDI in?!?
Excellent review of these two powerhouse Keyboards! Amazing flexibility jampacked with sounds. Like the Keybed, will have to check one out locally. Thanks Jeremy always enjoy your reviews.
lookin good i may consider switching to this after the ct-x3000 in the future
A great review thank you
I just bought a Go Keys 5 and it is an amazing instrument for sure, but I have noticed pretty severe distortion/vibrations in the built in speakers playing using certain patches even at normal playing volume. I am wondering if this is an issue with my keyboard/manufacturing batch or if this IS how the speakers do sound (construction/design issue).
I'm wondering if Mr. See noticed this when reviewing the keyboard?
I want to buy a midi keyboard, that can connect to my Org 24...please help me to find a best midi keyboard...
Why do they have 5-octave keyboards running from C to C and not F to F like 5-octave Viennese fortepianos? This would instantly make them way more versatile, due to being suitable to play classical music on them, which is mostly impossible due to lacking range in the low register on a C to C 5-octave instrument.
Again you have a new favorite 😅
Roland nailed it with this one ❤
Northumbrian pipes.. try the tobacco shop😊
As a Geordie born first time I have even heard of them
(do not know how it with modern keyboards)
I called that 'Roland Piano curse'.
You already have one unplayable Roland piano"
Today is hard to be shure you are getting good tool.
What is the name of the song at 2:21 ?
Which one semi weighted keys better, go piano 61 or go keys 3?
Good day. Would like to know if this is better than the korg i3 and psr 425
Some says the speakers are not strong for loud sound output. Is this true or not
I still have a yamaha psr and mm6, besides that also a korg pa50sd, but I have bought a roland xps10 because I used to have a roland alpha juno 2, for me the sound of the roland keyboard is heavier than the others.
I only have a 37 key set up Jeremy but upgradable to 88, I think. Dx but options could be CP as well as YC serie?
Bad is: only channel 4 can be played by music software..so no 16 track realtime plays..so sad not to play my many Midi Songs😢
i thought everyone have approved the durable metal modular box that is midi to an Arturia control key? or M audio semi weight controller??
Great demo!
Cts400 vs go keys 3? Which one? I was looking to upgrade from cts300 .. the sound is horrible... hmmm
Good keyboard I was considering to buy but i went with Medeli AKX10. tbh If this keyboard would have Joystick probably i would go with this one.
Buy the Yamaha DGX 670. It has alot more better features, sounds & styles and will last you a life time.
If you are going to be a serious learner, DGX-670 is the way to go. It’s a digital piano, so the key action mimics an actual piano. GO:KEYS are purely musical keyboard. DGX-670 also have 88 keys which would be better for learning.
DGX all the way.
I'm an old school Roland User and Finally they made 2024 Expandable sound canvas in a portable keyboard to gig with. Sweet!!
Hey can you use this keybroad for a big gig with other instruments am looking for a pro keyboard at a good price
The E-68 days were great
