@@alittlebitofhistory when you said that he had no fire wood to burn to heat water up to make a cup of tea did you mean that he had run out of fire wood? I don't think burning a wooden flute on its own would give enough heat to boil his kettle
How I love to hear about those folk who have unforgettable ‘ Character ‘ ! What a great story to listen to , I look forward to more 😊 What a dear old boy he was . 🌹
Wonderful! A man who very much seems on The Spectrum who succeeded greatly and made life work for him instead of him having to fit in with people. Thankyou what a hopeful story x
In my opinion your telling his tale is a far better "marker" reaching a much broader audience than a stone in a church yard might ever do. Thank you, very interesting.
@@alittlebitofhistory I'm far away in British Columbia, Canada and not likely to come across all these lovely stories. You've brought them to the world. Thanks.
What you might be missing here (or just not mentioning) is that John Fransham was clearly what we would now describe as 'neurodiverse'. For those of us who share that affliction, your approach, research, and delivery is interested, neutral, and accepting. This is a very good video - thank you.
A truly well-documented tale and superbly narrated. From the moment you started and pronounced the word 'Norwich', I was captivated. Thank you for sharing.
What a great guy. I wish l could be more like him!! 😊 This is how we should live our lives. To the full, gaining knowledge and adapting to what comes your way. My favourite saying is...life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain. ❤
Wonderful story, what a really interesting character he was, we all have our ways, eccentric I can relate to , he did sound a good man, with all his unusual ways , he didn't hurt anyone, god bless him, thank you for telling some of his story ,really enjoyed it ,what a pity you couldn't find where he was laid to rest 🙂
Loving these little snippets of history from a familiar place to me... Any chance of an upcoming film about Billy Bluelight? As you have shown in this and other films, there is much to be discovered in Norwich... Thanks for sharing!
Fascinating! I think if I were his parents I would have been worried sick about him - but he seems to have done alright for himself. 23:30 That remark about the apple pie and a beautiful young woman is hilarious. =D
What a guy!! Loved this story, thank you very much. Perhaps it’s quite fitting that his grave is gone. Maybe even in death he just upped and left! Good man John 😁👍
Wow! Many thanks... what a life. I'm enjoying all your well-researched offerings, especially Borrow who I'm told I am related. Just an aside ... "gaol" is the same as "jail" (no hard G) ... gaolers are jailors and pronounced the same, sorry for nitpicking x
I find it off-putting and annoying when TH-camrs start to beg or sell out to commercialism. I tend to drift away from them when that happens. This is a very personal channel borne of love of history, location and research. It would be a great shame to spoil it. I know art for art's sake doesn't pay bills but it is enriching in other ways.
I remember one telling me I should become an insurance agent like my dad who did ok. Sons often follow father's but that choice seemed rather boring to me. But with hindsight it was probably good advice - never met a poor finance industry worker.
What a wonderful man you brought to us. However did you uproot such detail about his life? Eccentrics are to be treasured, they show alternatives to the boring norm. My wife and I are both a little "quirky" and that is possibly what brought us together later in life than most. Eccentricity must be cultivated and nurtured, beautiful alternative plants might grow.
I believe there are libraries of them for sale, or, as in this case bespoke writers. Too busy was a bit of a misnomer, too lazy or incompetent more likely. Not much is what it seems in religion, I saw through it many years ago as a teenager.
I really enjoyed this story. Well told I must say. I like the shoe part of the story. He was right about the Greeks, in Oregon they lowered the standards in education again. They just pass you through, no matter the effort or the grades. I don't think he would have approved.
I can't really judge that myself that is how school is in the UK anyway, you can't get held back, but no I don't think he would of been happy about things working like that.
I would not be shocked in the slightest if he did, I did think about bringing that up but as I know next to nothing about it I didn't want to get it totally wrong.
Great work again. Was I the only person who felt a red flag with the 'churchman' taking a liking to the young teenage John Fransham and gifting him with enough cash buy a horse? Maybe I'm getting to cynical, lol.
I don't doubt your suspicions. We now know a lot more about the goings on that can occur in the clergy and religion generally. Not at all like the image they like to cultivate.
Due to my work its difficult to arrange we don't get our weekly schedules until Sunday so I can't plan weeks ahead but if I am able to I thinking about Sat 12th I will make an announcement in the next couple days if so.

I found this very interesting, a life of a man I had previously not known. He lived his life on his own terms. Thank you for sharing this upload.

Fascinating character. Imagine the conversations you could have.
Indeed, you would even move your loom to facilitate them ;-)
Your fried from SE TN here. Great stuff! Thanks for finding this and bringing it to light.
Again I was glued to the the story.
Well presented and I thank you.
With regards and best wishes from Loutraki Greece.
I love Norwich - it's a great place to visit. And I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Brilliant!
Brilliant video. Extremely entertaining. Many thanks for making this.
Sounds like a very practical impractical man. Or is that an impractical practical one? Eccentrics make life a little more fun. Stay safe.🤗
That Quaker exchange is hilarious 🤣, thanks for a fantastic video

Thank you. This was an amazing video of a strangely amazing man. Loved it.

They Certainly broke the mould when they made John.

Excellent that going to Scotland is what a turnip-eater thinks of doing.
