My grandmother's brother was named Stanfield after that property, which was supposed to belong to the family but had been "stolen from us".
She never told me of any murders there, I heard only recently that there had been shootings after a tea party there, but this is the first time I find out that in addition to the murders, it had created an entire sensation at the time.
    This is fascinating, thanks!

I love the writing and narration, and the well-timed pictures for reference, especially the ones specific to the case. Lots of work goes into these, and no time-wasting "branding" or pushy, preliminary requests for comments or subscriptions. So glad I found this channel.

The fact they made ceramic houses of the mansion made me think about the same thing being done for The Red Barn murders in 1827. Now I'm curious about how many different cases with these little ceramic models are around.

The videos on this channel are just so good. I follow a number of similar-ish TH-cam channels, and obviously I only do this with ones whose output I enjoy, even so, I find this gentleman's to be particularly good.
He writes notably well. Fluid, clear writing, which always serves the story being told, and never falls into the common trap of being too ornate (something I do myself far too often).
The pictures and photos are all excellent. Such work and research must go into each one And while the stories are interesting in and off themselves, he always explains the wider significance and /or importance they had.
He is also very good at quickly explaining all the historical elements that come in to the narratives, but doing so briefly, so the flow of the story isn't lost.
This man's writing is deceptively artless. It takes a really skilled writer to write something of such quality and to do so over and over. I wonder what his background is...he may have explained it in one of his videos which I haven't yet watched.
(sorry if there are typos or weird mistakes...my vision is dodgy and my cat likes to stand both on the keyboard and in front of the pc screen, even when they're 10 feet apart, breaking the laws of physics in that way cats have)

Thank you so much for all the comments you have left. It is always great to see this little hobby of mine is appreciated.
I try to make them something I would want to watch so keep them largely focused on the topic, adding bit of extra context where needed but not too much as to bog the video down.
As for my background I don't really go into it in videos as the way I see it the channel is about history not about me. The best way to put it though is I am a fan of history who thinks that Norfolk and Suffolk is rather under represented so is trying to change it.

Not only was it from idle
      and morbid curiosity, but
      also to teach their children
where they could end up if
      they strayed from the straight
      and narrow path.
In the 1810's there was a children's book titled "The Fairchild Family".
      It was about the adventures
      and misadventures and moral
lessons that the children would have and learn.
It was so popular that it remained in print throughout
      the 19th century.
There was a scene in the book
where two of the brothers were fighting over a toy.
The father (instead of just confiscating the toy so nobody would have it) took it one step further. He took all his children into town to view the body of a
man hanging in the gibbet, he had been hang for killing his brother. That scene disturbed many parents (and the children as well) so when the book was in it's next edition, the editors had removed it.
So not a whole lot of people liked seeing or reading about something so gruesome.
Also, like it or not, a public execution WAS entertainment for the masses as was the trial. 😐
