    As a young flute player I really appreciate the flute content you make! I personally felt you were playing more comfortably with your Sankyo flute. I’ve never got my hands on an alto flute before but I would love to, and if I could I think I’d try to arrange the second movement of the Sibelius violin concerto, since alto flute’s tone color seems fitting for that piece.

    The song that you played is one of my favorite songs, its called "The girl from Ipanema" I love that song I cant believe you played it!!! And that flute looks really cool, now I want to play it. Today I had an 8 hour band rehearsal because we were the only middle school in the state to get selected for the UMEAs in Utah. Its next week!!!

    Thanks for sharing. I have a Brio alto flute, and love it! I've had it for 10 years or so; it was a bit less with only the curved head joint. It sounds lovely, and is good enough for me. I'm thankful for it and have done a lot of transposing for it! ~ I enjoy your channel.

    Nice flute! I can't really afford to lash out on alto flutes, but it's something I always wanted, so I've landed an ancient vintage alto, which is going in for complete overhaul. Straight headjoint only, but it looks like I'll have no trouble reaching that low G. I hope it fixes OK 🤞🙏

    Instrument pricing is really wild. $1700 would get you a higher-end, professional-level electric guitar or bass, but the same money gets you what's considered a cheap, entry-level alto flute.

    So with the alto flute not being a concert pitched instrument, would I be able to read regular flute music with it or would it sound weird? Because I still can’t grasp that concept on transposing instruments.

    • @Terrasylum
      @Terrasylum ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on what you mean by "read regular flute music." If you mean just playing by yourself and reading C flute sheet music you'll do all the same fingerings like a normal flute, it will just sound lower. If you are playing with others then it will not sound correct because the music you are playing should sound higher than you would be playing it at. Playing Left Hand first finger C on a C flute sounds like a C. Playing Left Hand first finger C on an alto flute will sound like a low G on a normal flute. I have no idea if this helped you or not I'm not the best at explaining.

    Where does it ever stop? I mean, why even bother? All I know is guitar, because that's all I've ever been around my entire life. I know the critical functions of what's required of it. And I assure you. EVERYBODY, their brother, their brother's sister, and their aunts and uncles, have an opinion on the matter. Obviously, EVERY MUSICAL INSTRUMENT IN THE WORLD, has an involved approach and construction to achieve the desired results of sound and tone. As per Edward Van Halen: tone is EVERYTHING. Take a close look, if you can, at a violin or cello. What one detail, what one thing or single aspect of just those two instruments alone, would be easy to craft and construct? Answer: Nothing! What about Ludwig's or Gretsch's drum kit ensemble? I wouldn't even begin to know where to start. Or, quite literally, finish. As in the finishing processes. When it comes to guitar, I've seen, and heard,.. it all. So, you could dance, pun intended, around this subject for so long the cows would give up, refuse to come home, and go somewhere else. There's really no point at all in doing it. To put it mildly, you can thank the craftsmen, who actually came up with the concept of whatever instrument you play. And then, actually bring that concept, known as the musical instrument, to a functional entity to begin with. And then, and make it available to the likes of you.
