I have a manual wc and it's a pain to try to gry it at every stop and I need it becuz if they put u in one of theirs you cant go anywhere. It's such a pain.
You probably dont care but does any of you know of a way to get back into an Instagram account? I was stupid lost the password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me.
@Henry Cannon i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and Im trying it out atm. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
First I love you for exposing the normalcy of inter-able relationships, and now you go championing air travel for disabled people in their wheelchairs. Bless you both!
I honestly didn't even know this was an issue until I started watching ya'll. Thank you for opening my eyes to the discrimination that still exists in the world. This has to change!! Signing that petition now!
A few weeks ago, in my country (Switzerland), a man in a wheelchair with tubes hanging on him, was denied access in a restaurant, because they didn't want to disgust the other guests...The only thing I see that is disgusting is the owners of that restaurant!!!
That is not right, I'm a nurse not an engineer but it seems to me that all you need to do is put your wheelchair in a place where seats belong and up up up you go I have a slight disability, and I do mean slight,I smashed my tib and fib in a bad accident, it's hard to fly we go first class we can because it gives me more room.No attandant has ever asked me if I am comfortable which I usually am. Shane,I can't even imagine how hard and not fair this is for you. I can get up and walk around so I am lucky that way. Wishing you the best. I'm from fleetwood, pa. I know you use know the area. We moved last September back to California, the wine country .ridiculous, no its bull shit. Don't excuse my mouth cuz I mean it. You have a wonderful mother in law to be.✌🏻💜💐
Katie Marsh Not really. If there would be more disabled people than „normal“ people it would be the other way around. And then the „normal“ people would complain. It seems like for airlines its all about money and they care less about a few people with special needs, cause they have enough costumers who are satisfied.
The airlines can lie to you and say it's about safety all they want; we all know it's really about greed and money. Having space on planes for wheelchairs that might not always be filled would mean fewer seats that would likely always be full. I'm sure the idea of not having every possible square inch of every plane crammed full of paying customers at all times gives the greedy folks at the top of the corporate chain severe heartburn. Like everything else, I'm sure it all comes down to money money money. Such a shame, and so unacceptable that it means disabled people can't go wherever they want and need to go.
They could have regular seats that could be designed to clip into place if no wheelchairs were on the flight. Minivans have removable seats, it can be done. Plus if airlines allowed wheelchairs on planes more disabled people would fly and I bet there would rarely be an empty wheelchair spot.
Great to see light being shed on this topic! I am a C5 quadriplegic. In the last year I have flown seven times. None of which have been a smooth or easy process. The worst situation took place following a crash landing onto the runway. Resulting in significant damage to the plane and requiring immediate evacuation. The airline had absolutely zero preparedness for getting me off the plane. I was asked several times “can you take just a few steps“. Once I was off my wheelchair was not accessible until late late later. The complete lack of preparedness for someone of my situation continued. They tried to put me in an aisle chair which I refused. My best option eventually was a general discharge from the hospital after a knee surgery wheelchair. Important medical equipment for my evening and morning routine’s remained on the plane until afternoon the following day which created in myriad of problems. All along I was assured and reassured everything would be returned to me shortly. As the day progressed into the evening and it was evident the airline had no plan for me paired with escalating pain due to inadequate seating I was taken to the ER. All of this took us back to the drawing board to rethink how we should better prepare ourselves for these situations. However, it takes two....Airlines badly need to improve their accommodations for our population
Liz is just amazing. What a genuinely kind person, to spend hours of her day fighting to make it right. Shane and Hannah, you're very lucky to have her :)
That must have been so frustrating. Liz has the patience of a saint. I'm afraid I wouldn't have been able to keep it in as well as she did. They are going to start letting miniature therapy horses on planes, but not wheelchairs for the disabled. Makes no sense. Petition signed and shared this video to my FB page.
Therapy horses?!?! Gaa! I miss traveling so much. I have a condition called Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, which is basically extreme allergies. When they started allowing pets on planes, I started going into anaphylactic shock more and more often when I'd fly. And they make me- who has absolutely no say in my condition- wait around for another flight rather than the person choosing to bring a pet. There is no person on this earth who is well enough to fly but not well enough to be separated from their miniature horse for an hour.
@@jennhoff03 If you want something that lives longer than a dog and is used for more push / pull or counterbalance work then mini horse is a smart choice. It does suck that people with allergies and service animals don't necessarily mix but a mini horse is a perfectly valid service animal.
@@xx-yd5mm I'm not saying it's not a service animal. I just think it's not fair that I get booted from a flight when I was born with Mast Cell. I have zero choice or say in it. But people have a choice to fly with or without a horse.
@@jennhoff03 People don't have a choice when they are born disabled or have a terrible accident but here we are. I really don't think a blind woman is out to get you with the fur of her mini horse because she would like to fly any more than a child's seizure alert labrador being bought specifically to give you anaphylaxis while taking the bus. It can be super frustrating for sure but how many timed has this really happened to you? I think I have flown on a plane with animals maybe 3 times in the last 20 years both domestic and international.
I understand what is the problem. Smaller airplanes don’t fit in the hold. I have got the same problem when I want to fly with my powerchair from the UK to the Netherlands and will be using the high speed trains instead. Europe has got a very good train network, you might want to look into that in the future.
I thought the same too, trains are definitely the way to go in that part of the world + they are accessible and affordable (booking in advance is better).
Well if they have to do a 24 hour layover, the 13 hour train from Amsterdam central to Berlin, then Berlin to Poland would be less of an inconvenience. It’s just a pain that the planes are too small
@@deborahbaulk9874 not to mention you could end up with weight and balance issues as well also you can not turn a powered operated wheelchail on side for many reasons not to mention the battery neefs to be handled different as well. So many factors to be considered a/craft type etc.. It may not be fair but Safety First if a plane were to crash then there would be many lawsuits so i don't know it may not be fair it's going to take a much larger aircraft to accommodate those types of trips
wow Europe's not fun for the disabled in the United States it would be the airport's job to make sure you get there with everything medically necessary! which might involve you getting on a different flight and then having to arrange transport from One airport to another but it's there responsibility because legally they were supposed to have that stuff. in the u.s. everything needs to be made with handicap accessible options....
I can't believe they did that to you. My son is in a wheelchair too. He's almost 24 but is small like a ten year old child. I couldn't imagine how it would feel to be denied a plane ride just because of his chair. The laws need to change!
wow, this is insane!! I can't believe it's that difficult for someone like you to travel in 2019! I'm definitely signing that petition. also, what an angel Liz is, y'all are so lucky to have her help! glad to see you made it happen!
Signed. Thank you for bringing attention to these brutal realities of traveling with a disability. Kudos to Shane, Hannah, Liz and family for advocating so powerfully for accessibility. Love your channel for so many reasons!
Liz has way more patience than I do. I hate being put on hold and I've scaled a phone across the room on a few occasions. The petition has been signed and this has been shared.
This is totally unacceptable and is without doubt a discrimination issue against those with disabilities. It has to stop and one way to start this process is to sign the petition mentioned. I encourage each and everyone who watches this to do so.
Imagine what the world would be like if every mother was like Liz💕 My mother would never do anthing even near all this work for my sister and I, and especially not our spouses- and we're all able bodied. You are a true angel, Liz. Much love from Sweden🇸🇪
Your mum is amazing to be sooooo supportive, I became disabled in 2012 through chronic illnesses and my husband’s mother told him he should leave me and find someone else as I’m not useful to him anymore!!!! I had always had a good relationship with my MIL up to then! You are such a great couple and Shane always makes me laugh
The best airline around Europe for wheelchairs personally has been EasyJet. All my holidays around Europe are with easyJet. Including my flight in two days to Budapest!! Hopefully this is helpful also the Boeing planes are not suitable as the cargo doors are smaller. Airbus airlines are better around Europe with wider cargo doors etc, hope this helps! - Uk
It is good to know that they are improving. I know that airlines damaging wheelchairs is still a huge problem in the UK. Have you had any damage occour to your chair? Staff listening to the disabled person & following their instructions on handling the wheelchair & their own body would prevent a lot of issues... When there is a member if staff around & the disabled person is not left stranded!
Sammy Ariel I generally fly into airports like Manchester and Liverpool. They have not damaged my chair, I fly 3 times a year and have been so lucky not to have damage. Most damage was caused by me lol. Which airport are you thinking of going to?
CONTACT JOY that’s what I meant, the height. Which is smaller than a airbus aircraft. Being that also another reason the doors on a Boeing are lower which makes it harder for the ramp to access it etc thanks for correcting me btw.
Uggggh flying is terrifying for those of us in wheelchairs. I'm 6'3" 200 lbs with muscular dystrophy. My legs are long as hell and sitting in anything other than my customized wheelchair just flat out sucks. We've avoided flying since my permanent transfer to my chair. Thanks for putting out the good word!
I'm a 6'2" lanky wheelchair user who struggles with finding suitable space too. I actually got a custom made shower trolly recently as standard models were too short & when it arrived it is still a good foot too short for my long legs! When I got support stockings the nurse phoned up to check the measurements were right, I confirmed they were. Then another nurse from the company insisted on coming out & measuring my legs as they thought I couldn't possibly have a 38" inside leg with UK size 11 feet (12 us)... Turns out I do actually know the size of my own body & they just wasted my time & theirs.
My uncle had muscular dystrophy and he was no small guy either. The first ever time I went on a plane was with him and my grandparents when I was about 4 or 5. Seeing him being strapped down and brought into the plane was horrifying
@@NotAnotherKuromi for my dads pressure stockings he needed a different size for each leg and the "off the shelf" ones that the insurance covered didn't fit properly. So my parents went through a family friend who worked directly with suppliers to get him two pairs (one pair of each size) custom fitted and they surprisingly didn't break the bank compared to the issuance company's quotes. It worked out because he wanted a spare set anyways. I just wish more companies realised not everyone fits perfectly in to a small, medium or large.
rewatching some older videos and this one is so infuriating and frustrating. i’ve signed up for emails, signed the petition and shared on my social media. i hope this changes soon. thanks for sharing your story.
“Customer care, this is Jayden, how can I assist you this evening?” “Hi, I was calling to see what information you could give me on transporting a wheelchair for a disabled person in my party on an upcoming flight to Krakow. I’ve had to deal with loads of hassle with this issue before, and I know some planes have different sized cargo doors so I wanted to see what was the maximum size or weight limit for a passenger’s wheelchair?” “Well I’m glad you asked. Just to give you a heads up, there are a number of things you have to do, but I’m here to walk you through all the procedures and it’s really nothing too difficult, you just need to follow a simple series of steps, does that sound alright?” “Um ok, so where do I start?” “First, you must abandon all your worldly concerns and leave Earth’s gravity on a trajectory to Jupiter. There, you will be intercepted by a black monolith which will bend the fabric of spacetime, teleporting you to a cosmic realm of pure chaos, eldritch mysteries and dark energy which will irreversibly fracture your psyche and awaken the long-forbidden senses of the mind. You shall awaken in a room wherein you shall have to face your greatest foe of all: a living incarnation of your own frail mortality. Ye will be reborn as a star child and hurtled toward Earth, but an unfamiliar Earth from a sister dimension. This world will be a dark phantasia of horrific wonders and beautiful terrors, of dreaded monumental cities and tombs of Elder Gods buried betwixt the waters, but you mustn’t let yourself be led astray from your sacred quest. After 99 successive virginal and ascetic lifetimes of pure and noble deeds, you will at least be approached by The One Guardian of the Threshold and given a golden amulet. Finally, you must thrice perambulate the Aetherworld portal widdershins before a bridge troll will ask of you three riddles. Answer wisely, and the golden amulet will open, revealing the Vespertine Gem of the Undying. Cross the bridge, defeat the dragon inside the lair, rescue the crystal princess, and place the blood of the dragon and the holy Vespertine gem into the Chalice of Uhltroar. If the wraiths of the fallen kings of old deem ye worthy of spirit and of deed, then, and only then, may ye be granted the passage ye seek for your disabled party member and successfully arrive in Krakow without having to cancel your hotel reservations and other plans.” “….So he can’t just bring his own wheelchair onto the plane and sit in the goddamn thing? And....did you say widdershins?”
Omg! Props to Liz (and all of you!) for hanging in there. That must be really freaking frustrating. I was in customer service for a few years and the best way to get anything done with a rep who acts like they have no idea what’s going on is to escalate the call. Ask to speak to a manager until you get as high up on the chain as possible!
This is definitely an issue for disabled humans , because they obviously need their wheelchairs or what ever they might need to get around and it’s way safer and comfortable for them and also common sense for the transporter so they won’t struggle with the disabled person. We should all have the WILL to travel with our Accommodations needed . I hope y’all can get the right help to make a change .. #WESTANDFORTHEFUTURE ✊✊✊
I signed the petition, wrote a narrative and then posted it on Twitter. My husband just recently died (July 26) and wasn’t able to return to his home in Kenya because of the same malarkey. His accident happened here in the States. It wasn’t fair that he wasn’t able to go back home to see family when his chair would have been safer than a airline seat. Great job advocating all of you!❤️
That is so unfair and frustrating , but you guys handled it in an fantastic way . Also , you guys are such a wonderful couple , and I enjoy seeing your videos .
The Air Carriers Access Act only applies to US airlines and any foreign airline that has flights to or from the US. If KLM never touches the US, then the ACAA doesn't come into play. It is indeed sad that wheelers are excluded in the EU. But until they also have their own ACAA, there's not much USAers can do except be squeaky wheels who speak only in terms of money. A Google search shows that the airline DOES have flights into the US so they should have to comply with the law. Doesn't mean they will. Could also mean that they only use the bigger, more "accessible" planes for those flights. Their smaller planes would not apply. I think. Regardless, major PITA.
Passenger ships, including cruise lines, must comply with the ADA. Which they fought in court for many years. Even now, 14yrs after the Supreme Court ruled against them, it is still not totally accessible. Tenders, ports of all, etc are major blocks for wheelchair users.
So Thankyou for making the airlines aware of their discrimination. I’m glad you’re joining in on the fight, I’m glad such a strong couple/family are fighting. This is my story: I travel all over the world. When I get home I need 2-3 weeks of rest for my mental health. Otherwise I’d have a breakdown with what I have to deal with... accessibility and discrimination. I got back from a 5 week trip around Portugal and cried for a solid 5 days, I was that exhausted. Plus I had broken toes from Emirates airline banging my feet into the walls- so I had to recover mentally and physically.
This is so upsetting. Thank you for sharing this information so people who have not experienced this first hand will understand. As a wheelchair user, I relate to this well. I didnt catch everything as auto CC sucks, but I know damn well I'm signing that petition and spreading the word!
Its lots of airline issues. I've used KLM as a wheelchair user and they've been excellent. I've also used United Airlines and they've been useless! Lets not over-simplify all this.
The only problem is that they fly often with smaller planes on the short distances. I had always excellent service from the KLM staff, but I cannot say the same about airport assistance staff. They are not always as helpful as they should be.
I once had my chair taken by a random person that needed to run to the washroom while I was still not out the plane. My chair was found in a washroom on the other side of Pearson Airport in Toronto where I live
@@RichP879 I'm not my friend they have a shitty reputation you only have to look at the reviews I do agree it can happen with other airlines to but KLM have shocking customer service for people with disabilities.
Something that happened at dinner today: Mom: Yeah, I got those at Bon-Ton Me: Nope Mom: Oh, right it was Kohl's Me, in my head: Too much Squirmy & Grubs. Nope. No such thing. We all need a Liz in our life.
I can't believe this nightmare exists in 2019! The airlines won't allow people to stay in their wheelchairs because they'd have to get rid of a seat or two to accommodate a chair, and they aren't willing to give up the few dollars they might lose when there isn't a wheelchair on board :/ Liz is amazing!
If my 2014 minivan can make four built in car seats disappear in hidden under feet compartments with the expertise of none other than a chunky 36 year old housewife(me). Then a high tech plane company can figure something out too. They just don't want to. No wasting money on seats that have to be permanently removed causing loss of revenue. And no wasted space for when there is not a need for a wheelchair spot. And before I had a 2014 minivan I had a 1998 minivan where the whole back row unlocked and could be removed from the entire car. It was heavy as crap, but removable and returnable without damage or safety issues. So if Dodge can figure it out so can Boeing.
Joni Thompson yea my dads van has seats where you flick a lever and they lift out. Leaving a flat floor (except some recessed connectors- which wouldn’t interfere with a chair.) 🙄 it’s so possible- just not wanted by these corporations.
As someone semi abled (can use a walker around the house and short distances but need a wheelchair for anything more than a couple minutes of walking) this is infuriating! I am so sorry you had to deal with all that. I got a headache just watching so I can’t imagine how bad they were for you. I hope you had a safe flight and everything works out!
Another several hours of binging today. About 18 hours so far. Since I discovered your channel I am absolutely addicted. Love you guys and pray for you. You’re both very special.
What a huge nightmare. And, pouring down rain, on day of flight. Liz is so patient, during this mess. She has a heart of gold. Hannah and Shane, I am so happy that you two found each other in this messed up world. I love watching your videos. You are so good together. I really hope you have a more positive outcome, in your future travels.
I'm a leukemia/bone marrow transplant survivor six years out. So many hours on the phone with insurance, hospitals and doctors. If I could only have a Liz. Your struggles make mine look like a cake walk. Inspirational indeed! 😎😎😎
I just went to All Wheels Up website and signed the petition. I hope they find a wonderful solution! You guys are great 🤗 That was ridiculous what u all went thru for this....ugh so frustrating; I was frustrated watching this 😧
Thank you, thank you, thank you for bringing this crucial issue to everyone and using your platform to educate your audience. Also, my grandma was born in Poland, so it is also part of my family history. I am so excited that you were able to visit.
That actually affected my breathing! I don’t know how dear Liz kept her cool. Well done Liz and shame on you to the airlines who are discriminating against people in wheelchairs. It’s the 21st century guys so pull your finger out and remedy this situation. Grrrrr
I’m watching this in 2020. I started from your first video and I am now here. Whatever traveling you have done I’m glad you got to do it before COVID-19!!! I guess you could say I am binge watching considering I’ve only been watching you a few days!
If you don't make anything accessible, you don't get people with w/c on your flights, and the airline avoids the 'hassle' of us disabled people. Simple. In USA the ADA act is a 'mere suggestion'......Europe, elsewhere have nothing comparable. Some Nordic countries are WAY ahead of all of us, some countries (India, South Asia) are soooooo far behind they don't even have hand rails on stairways for regular people. YUP, experienced what I have written here.
If everyone was talking about this and this was getting the news coverage of the chicken sandwich war, solutions would be made easily However the people are more interested in which chicken sandwich is better, than caring and tending to our kind. I’m sure if a famous person or a celebrity had a wheel chaired abled person they cared about, it would spread everywhere and they would start making planes accessible to wheelchair users No one cares though, that’s the sad part
Hey guys. I discovered your channel during social distancing and I am hooked. I heard Shane mention KLM and it brought back memories. I am a paraplegic. 25 years ago I went on a trip to India with my family. Got to India fine. Managed to get around India. Got on the plane to come back to Canada and KLM did not put my chair on the plane. They kept my chair. I haven't gone on an International trip since.
Wow, this is just crazy! Im so sorry that y'all are having to go through this. And I am just so sad for the many other people who are not allowed to travel because of a disability. It's not right.
I tried to watch this last night guys and I was still already furious over the Bathroom incident that I’ve not really gotten much sleep that I knew I wouldn’t sleep if I’d seen this last night. Shane/Hannah/Liz I love you guys and it kills me when something doesn’t go right when there should be problems and there is. All my life I’ve had either family or friends that have had disabilities from Muscular Dystrophy to Cerebral Palsy so having this connection to you guys is very Heartfelt! I advocate constantly for causes I feel should ALWAYS be WORTHY! GOD BLESS YOU ALL! Love you guys and never change!
As a wheelchair user, taking a plane is a non-starter for me. I don't have a beautiful Liz to figure it all out for me. Plus I worry my chair will be damaged. Hope the trip was wonderful with very few glitches along the way!!!!
I just love the two of you as a couple. You can tell how much you love eachother when you look at eachother! Wishing you both a long life of love and happiness. Soulmates for sure and anyone can see that.
I know this is a bit late but I am going to start heavily advocating it with my partner and I'm going to advocate for this on my podcast channel. As a wheelchair user I understand how it feels to go through this. It is always a hassle dealing with airliners on getting my wheelchair onto a plane. It's a pain in the ass.
This is the second night in a row I was planning on watching a movie and just ended up binging your videos instead. You guys are just such pleasant company.
Wow😒 That’s frustrating as hell. Glad you were finally able to figure a way to get there, but that shouldn’t be a problem in the first place.....off to sign the petition 😉😊❤️ *shared on Facebook too🤞🏻
Thank you for sharing his with us. I’d never have known the crap you have to go through. It’s disgraceful. I had actual tears in my eyes when you came in with your July update. This is so frustrating. Thank God for Liz!
So sorry you had to go through all that frustration. Letting wheelchair users use their chair during the flight is such a simple solution. Would save a bunch of headaches for all. Definitely going to sign the petition!
There is no space, not even for an average children's buggy. They would have to remove one row of seats for it. They could offer first class as hardly booked out. SWISS is good.
Military planes aren't loaded with people. Military planes house cargo and personal in the same space sometimes. The Military isn't subject to being sued non stop by every solider serving...
John Wick People aren’t often willing to accept that the world is not built for everyone, but yet the majority, which is more than reasonable and fair. Reality is harsh and this young man, Shane, needs to accept it. All this coming from a wheelchair bound paraplegic who also struggles with reality but it is what it is.
jeremy wells the thing is, the word CAN be built for everyone? Especially something as simple as wheelchairs. I’m a wheelchair and that seems like giving up to just completely throw out the idea of society accommodating people. Makes it sound like you get pushed around and bullied by people because they think it’s an inconvenience.
Great video! Keep bringing these vital issues up. Only when we ALL speak up and insist on fair accommodations will things change. And, we all win when this happens. Love to you both.
I'm sorry you had to go through this, and I'm 100% supportive of your advocacy for people in wheelchairs to be able to stay in their chairs in the cabin of the plane. I'm an electric wheelchair user myself and an experienced international travel. Can I tell you a couple secrets? 1. Your chair can be placed on its side. My chair is much larger and heavier than yours and it will fit on Boeing 737s, Airbus A319s and everything from those manufacturers with a higher number. 2. You can remove many vulnerable parts of your chair. It's obviously a huge headache, but you can do it. And you can use the airline's tools to reassemble your chair when you arrive at your destination. 3. Wrap your chair in colored masking tape to identify the handles and the places of your chair that must not be touched by the baggage handlers. 4. Tape pictorial instructions on how to use your chair to your chair so that the baggage handlers know how to move it and treat it. Don't trust the people on the phone. Trust the baggage handlers to follow your instructions. But make sure you give them really good instructions. I know this is an imperfect (maybe even a horrible and unfair) solution. But it works. Obviously, the best solution would be for airlines to be required to let us sit in our chairs in the cabin. But until that happens, you might have to do what I wrote above. Good luck in your travels and your advocacy!

Liz, you are the LOVELIEST mother-in-law to ever walk this Earth. 😍
Hannah, you are a spitting image of your mother! The situation is frustrating, but I loved seeing more of her sassy personality.
Hannah and Liz have the same laugh! 🥰
Jenn Hoff its a service animal, but it has to be a miniature horse. I’ve seen it happen lol.
How lucky is Shane in having such a great mother in law in Liz 👏

This is TERRIBLE. I am so sorry you had to go through all this. I signed the Petition
Wow, your mom has a lot of patience. I would have thrown the phone against the wall after waiting for that long.
Absolutely mind blowing! I make a point to always call out businesses that are not accessible. It is unacceptable. Signed the petition also!!
This is why your channel is so great! Social justice!! Know your laws and keep fighting for what’s right! Change will come ❤️
Hannah's mom is so nice and caring. You can really tell that she has a passion for making sure that they can go everywhere with no problems.
"Also, Hannah's not wearing pants right now." 😂🤣😂🤣 My life!
Liz, you are amazing and kind!!! Support is so amazing. You need to be in more videos!!! Love you all!!!
Your mom is amazing Hannnah. Helping Shane 😭
I signed the petition. Every one who love you guys should!
This is totally unacceptable and is without doubt a discrimination issue against those with disabilities. It has to stop and one way to start this process is to sign the petition mentioned. I encourage each and everyone who watches this to do so.
@@issadraco532 what in the meth???? That was the most incoherent and nonsensical diatribe that has ever been written as a TH-cam comment.

Imagine what the world would be like if every mother was like Liz💕
My mother would never do anthing even near all this work for my sister and I, and especially not our spouses- and we're all able bodied.
You are a true angel, Liz.
Much love from Sweden🇸🇪
There needs to be an ‘I love Liz’ t shirt
Wow, that is maddening. You 2 are so lucky that Liz is so determined and helpful. You have a great mama Ms. Hannah!
Liz is amazing. I'd like to start a petition to officially make this page 'Squirmy and Grubs and Liz'
Adam :D The width of the doors isn't the issue. The issue is the height of the doors.
Unbelievable!! I was frustrated just watching Liz on the phone. Liz ROCKS!!🙌🏻
I signed the petition! I don’t know anyone that this affects but it still pisses me off!! Hope you guys have a wonderful trip!
Sammy Ariel long legs!
I love the two of you, And your videos...... I hope your trip is very safe, and you all have a great time.
rewatching some older videos and this one is so infuriating and frustrating. i’ve signed up for emails, signed the petition and shared on my social media. i hope this changes soon. thanks for sharing your story.

“Customer care, this is Jayden, how can I assist you this evening?”
“Hi, I was calling to see what information you could give me on transporting a wheelchair for a disabled person in my party on an upcoming flight to Krakow. I’ve had to deal with loads of hassle with this issue before, and I know some planes have different sized cargo doors so I wanted to see what was the maximum size or weight limit for a passenger’s wheelchair?”
“Well I’m glad you asked. Just to give you a heads up, there are a number of things you have to do, but I’m here to walk you through all the procedures and it’s really nothing too difficult, you just need to follow a simple series of steps, does that sound alright?”
“Um ok, so where do I start?”
“First, you must abandon all your worldly concerns and leave Earth’s gravity on a trajectory to Jupiter. If the wraiths of the fallen kings of old deem ye worthy of spirit and of deed, then, and only then, may ye be granted the passage ye seek for your disabled party member and successfully arrive in Krakow without having to cancel your hotel reservations and other plans.”
“….So he can’t just bring his own wheelchair onto the plane and sit in the goddamn thing? And....did you say widdershins?”
Omg hahaha this is the best thing I've read in a long long time!!!
God people complain. So much, it’s a simple process 😂😂
BEST COMMENT EVER
Im crying for gratitude that you are taking on these horrible inequalities. My dad had ms all my childhood and was in a wheelchair for most of that
Bless your hearts! I signed the petition. Always keep fighting!
I hope you both signed and shared!
25 people who really need to reevaluate their lives. How do you give a thumbs down? Sad really.
On another note, I love you guys! This is wonderful.
I can't believe that in this day in age we STILL cannot accommodate persons in wheel chairs.smh
I love you guys!
Ever heard of a boat?
Passenger ships, including cruise lines, must comply with the ADA. Which they fought in court for many years. Even now, 14yrs after the Supreme Court ruled against them, it is still not totally accessible. Tenders, ports of all, etc are major blocks for wheelchair users.
If they have flights into NA they NEED to comply with ACAA. none of this wishwashyness
💕 Liz 💕 Everyone needs a Liz. But seriously... what do people do who have no one to advocate for them??
we rot.
@@kookoo4pandas oof
Many advocate for themselves.
Well if they can’t advocate themselves then. Nothing gets done, people that need help fall threw the cracks.
I'm a person like that. We just don't get access.
So Thankyou for making the airlines aware of their discrimination. I’m glad you’re joining in on the fight, I’m glad such a strong couple/family are fighting. This is my story:
I travel all over the world.
Thank u for this video. Will share like mad! All my love and support
This is so upsetting. Thank you for sharing this information so people who have not experienced this first hand will understand. As a wheelchair user, I relate to this well. I didnt catch everything as auto CC sucks, but I know damn well I'm signing that petition and spreading the word!
I love how sassy your mom is
How did you all stay so calm?? Hannah, your mum is a gem.
KLM are a Dutch airline they have a really BAD reputation for disabled people complain, it's a disgrace to be treated so badly.
It all depends on who working at the time.
Just like most businesses a shitty employee can ruin everything.
@@RichP879 I'm not my friend they have a shitty reputation you only have to look at the reviews I do agree it can happen with other airlines to but KLM have shocking customer service for people with disabilities.
Far too often accessibility is more of a concept than a reality. Your advocacy makes a difference, thanks!
Something that happened at dinner today:
Mom: Yeah, I got those at Bon-Ton
Me: Nope
Mom: Oh, right it was Kohl's
Me, in my head: Too much Squirmy & Grubs. Nope. No such thing.
We all need a Liz in our life.
Even though this video is a year old, I would like to give Liz the biggest virtual hug for helping SO MUCH!! :)
I can't believe this nightmare exists in 2019! The airlines won't allow people to stay in their wheelchairs because they'd have to get rid of a seat or two to accommodate a chair, and they aren't willing to give up the few dollars they might lose when there isn't a wheelchair on board :/
Liz is amazing!
ANTieT more than a seat or two, if they have multiple people that need space for wheel chairs. As the demand would be higher than the supply
Auntie Teeshka They need to make it where a couple chairs can fold up and down or something.
itzsykez ah yes the scenario that isn’t common and rare should be taken into account when asking for wheelchairs on planes lol.
Wow! Wow! Wow! Liz was incredibly patient and understanding in this process!! No one should have to go through this!😡😡
As someone semi abled (can use a walker around the house and short distances but need a wheelchair for anything more than a couple minutes of walking) this is infuriating! I am so sorry you had to deal with all that. I got a headache just watching so I can’t imagine how bad they were for you. I hope you had a safe flight and everything works out!

Oh my goodness I just don’t understand have they never had a person in a wheel chair flight there ever 😳
I asked myself exactly the same!!
If everyone was talking about this and this was getting the news coverage of the chicken sandwich war, solutions would be made easily
However the people are more interested in which chicken sandwich is better, than caring and tending to our kind.
I’m sure if a famous person or a celebrity had a wheel chaired abled person they cared about, it would spread everywhere and they would start making planes accessible to wheelchair users
No one cares though, that’s the sad part
Please can your mom start bottling up and selling her calm and patience

I know this is a bit late but I am going to start heavily advocating it with my partner and I'm going to advocate for this on my podcast channel. As a wheelchair user I understand how it feels to go through this. It is always a hassle dealing with airliners on getting my wheelchair onto a plane. It's a pain in the ass.
Liz has the patience of a saint! You all do. I would have been screaming at those airline people.

I signed the petition it literally took under 60 Seconds
So sorry you had to go through all that frustration. Letting wheelchair users use their chair during the flight is such a simple solution. Would save a bunch of headaches for all. Definitely going to sign the petition!
How hard is it to strap a wheelchair IN a plane?? All they need is some space and boom. 😑
I know right?! Military planes transport freaking vehicles in the planes. Strapped and anchored of course. Ugh.
Shared this message on my social media and texted out the link to friends. LETS GET THIS DONE. Love you guys!
