Small comment on your vrs suggestion. The sw20 and the vrs are not in same price range because with the vrs you have to buy the bracket etc and ends up on around 100-200 euro more than the sw20 package to get the same content. But good review.
Well the Vrs one costs 1k€ with both the wheelbase mount and shaft clamp. pretty much the same as the simplicity without the discount if you order it from stock. Prices for Uk though. don´t know otherwise
Hi Laurence. Surprised you didn't know much about these guys. They have been around for years. I've used them tons and service has been spot on. Of course with every bad instance of customer service there's likely thousands of happy customers. Buy your review of the product itself is spot on. Blind test vs simucube 2 and you wouldn't know the difference.
This is exactly why I love your reviews! Straight up, nothing between the lines! LOVE IT! You leave us with the most important task and that is to make the final decision. Which is so much easier to do when you have unbias and true information and impressions. Thanks LD!
Thanks so much Chris. Yeah I don’t want to put words in people’s mouths but do have a duty to tell people about my experience. Writing the script for these reviews takes quite some time
Simplicity was, and I think still is, the simplest way to diy a osw setup. 5 or so years ago, you either had to buy a leo bodnar wheelbase or diy your direct drive wheel. There was a long list of component to source out and compatibility to be aware of. Simplicity just source and bundle the component for you, it was a great service at a competitive price. It's hard to recommend now days since the DD wheel market is much wider now.
Agree till this day I still want one. Although I have a simagic mimi, I love the old school 30nm osw. I went to the website and it's still active. Call me crazy but I still want one of this. My only Concern is the update on the software.
Been waiting for this review for a while! I have never tried another DD myself, I bought the SW20 and was looking for someone to confirm the ffb compared to other high end bases out there. Completely agreed on the customer service and the recommendation to go VRS instead. I regularly suggest the same to those who ask me.
Yeah it’s a shame in ways. The bundle is good and it all works well too. I would love to see a small company like this thrive, but simply can’t recommend the product without a. If disclaimer :(
I've had the SW20 V3 for a year now and it's been great once you get the setting to your liking....one issue I did have was the controller box would drop out mid race so not ideal! I upgraded the USB 2.0 cable and it's been perfect ever since
the little rod included in the kit is needed for certain types of quick release, for example the Simracing coach one, or in general all qr in the style of "bike clamp"
Great review!! I've had this base for around 4 months now and I absolutely love it !! Took me a while to get it to my liking but I'm sure that's the same for every new wheel but now it feels amazing. My base and control box did arrive 2 days which was a little frustrating. I did send them a email and got a reply literally within the hour, so like you say they may blow hot and cold on that front. But all in all I'm very happy with my purchase. Thanks again Stu
Have been using the SW20 (V2) happily since 2017.. when i bought it, i got one hour of tutorial by Ollie, and i actually didn't tighten the bolts enough either. Since then, 3 of my friends have tried, 2 of them have bought the second they got home.... it is just thát good. And yeah, i'm not a hardware expert, and even i got it sorted in the end. I'm using a Wooden Nardi 350mm 4-spoke round racing wheel on my DD wheelbase, bought an adapter from the hardware store to fit it. Also bought a button box for it, but i'm not too happy with the cabling for that. I love how the steeringwheel(base) can let you turn 2160 degrees maximum, too much fun when driving truck sims, but, the cable for the button box wont like it. I just wish someone would make bluetooth or wifi button/flappypaddle boxes with just an on off switch and aa-battery that has to be replaced once a year. Oh well, evolution evolves. Wish i could still get the V3 encoder somewhere....they were sold out quite rapidly.
Good to hear your point of view (I've been watching simplicity for a while). I guess for those in the UK, these make a bit more financial sense (£737 within 28 days vs £990 for the DFP). It does seem like it's something that's done on the side which could somewhat explain the slightly dodgy customer service
I've already ordered one before watching this video and thought through my research this was by far the best option for price against the others when comparing the extras like the bracket and shaft adaptor. also the VRS was going to cost me an extra £170 in import taxes on top, (being located in the uk). Regarding communication I've had no problems, obviously its a small company and my emails where responded to at a normal time as other company's would.
Great to have some positive feedback on the comments too. I’m sure there are plenty others like you. It’s just a shame there are many who didn’t have as good an experience

I have their older SW20 with Simucube boards. I don't have any issues so far. I love and support small sim racing company. We are now at a time where sim racing might be at its peak but we won't be here without these small companies.
I've had my SW20 V3 for going on 2 years now, and it's been great. I recently replaced the USB cable with a higher quality one due to the controller box disconnects and haven't had any issues since. I purchased mine in 2019; my experience with customer service was great whenever I dealt with them, and both boxes arrived the same day. I wonder if many of these issues are due to the world being shut down and the sim racing explosion - scaling their business model to a shortage of parts and an abnormal increase in orders would be hard. That said, some social media presence or something would give more confidence in their company's survival. I do worry that if something goes wrong, now I may not get the support I need, even though my experience so far has shown otherwise. Also, I LOVE driving with this wheel. Great review.

The Simucube Granity software provides for detail technical tuning of the the controller/motor - you don't have to use it, but it allows one to tune out the motor cogging typical of Mige motor and from what I read a well set-up SC1 system is pretty hard to distinguish from a new Simucube Pro.

I just came here for the music 🤣
Hahaha I hope the music was good for you 😅 it seemed to suit the review I thought
@@LaurenceDusoswa but seriously I have had the DFP for almost a year now and love it. VRS nailed the marketing, functionality and consumer info...plus the components look pretty nice IRL. This thing just looks cheap and nasty because they haven’t put any effort into it. Sad because it probably does the job quite well.
Value of money is only value if the customer service is good
Yeah I definitely agree. Being treated well is difficult to put a value on. This company is so close in ways. Other companies often market well and have a shitty product. It seems the opposite here 😂🤣😂
In terms of raw performance, it seems like a great wheelbase, everything else though seems rather bad - very clunky looks, a lot of cables, a lot of total space taken up, awful customer service. Really hard choice to consider when others do a much better job in general.
Yep it really is for the budget conscious person. I would love to see them succeed :(
Interesting - I'd rather pay a few hundred extra for a more established company just in case something goes wrong.
Yeah that’s how I feel too
its not the best way to save a €150
Yeah I know what you mean.
Sounds great until you realise the owners are pillocks😂
Is that from experience?
@@LaurenceDusoswa nope, they just seem like they don’t care about their company or customers
@@marcusss.carsss5096 seems to be a common occurrence but many customers also experienced really good service, from Emmy communications with owners
