That lume totally surprised me, thanks for that. Your video on how to set moonphase watches got me to look into your Graf Zeppelin watches. The Hindenburg moonphase is still one of my favorites. When people are looking for 40mm sizes, I typically recommended Graf Zeppelin ( usually Hindenburg, Flatline and Big Date ).
I just got myself the LZ-126 Los Angeles and what a beauty this is! The pushers really add to the look and I love the dome. The band is sterdy as well.

to each, their own i personally only get a quartz if there's a quirk like for citizen you get solar, and mind you one of the best solars out there. If not, the best for Casio, probably the most versatile and rugged watches. for Seiko, somewhat unattainable at the moment but, the Grand Seiko spring drive is probably the best quartz regulated movement ever made. extra smooth sweep. for Bulova, well that precisionist movement is great, smooth sweep on a quartz if bulova supplied precisionist movements to these guys... man this would be epic
You are right - these lovely pieces deserve more camera-time. Please do review the Zeppelin 7037M-1 Series LZ129 Hindenburg & Junkers 6089-5 Series Bauhaus! They seem like very interesting alternatives to Oris Big Crown Pointer Date and Junghanses respectively.
Good review, Mark. However, for $349, I don't think it is a good value - quartz, mineral crystal, snap back, not automatic, sapphire screw back. Lume is great, though, and I'll take your word that the strap is great.
@@islandwatch Not a fan of quartz, but i own 2 automatic watches from Pointtec and their attention to detail and build quality for the price is awesome. Their watches really do look like much much more expensive watches. It is so very true, until you will have their watch in your hands, you want understand the value it represents.

It has a beautiful dial and I think the watch is simply pure class all around from the case back to the case itself, to the dial. The squared pushers are very unique. I like that it has 22mm lugs, as well, since I have loads of straps to switch it up with, although the strap it comes with looks like a true quality strap. Keep up the videos, Marc!

All these dials are really awesome. Although a 38-40 mm case diameter would fit many wrists a little bit better. In my opinion the only bummer is the snap case back of the first two watches you showed and maybe the lack of a sapphire crystal. But oh man, those dials and straps... Well done Zeppelin! My favorite is the 1st one, that contrast between black and off white is amazing .. and that lume !! I prefer if it was an automatic with a see through case back plus sapphire crystal👌 .. Mark is there an auto version of it or a close model? Wonderful as usual 👏
I don't understand. You can get great looking chronographs with good brands for $100 from Casio etc., if they are quartz. What justifies high prices for quartz movements in general is a mystery to me.
Different watches for different people. You cannot show me a Casio chrono that looks anything like these. It will be a cheaper looking resin watch. This watch exudes quality and class. IMO
I really like the look or the zeppelin watches however the company seems to have its head right up its a^^. what do I mean by this? I find a watch I like but its quartz, I find the same graf in an automatic and its 1000$ more. for what? they are not making their own movements. it is possible to get a good auto movement for 200$ and put it in the watch and have the auto version at 550. the case and dial looks like it has lots of work put into it but looses appeal with quartz or overpaying being the only options.
I am not sure you looked enough, they make plenty of Miyota based watches under $400. The ones you looked at were likely auto chrono based. They are still pricey, but worth it (IMO).
Hi Marc! Great vid and beautiful watches! I really like the 7618 but I had the same thoughts. It looks almost identical w the 7680 and it’s a grand more expensive. I know it has the lovely valjoux/eta movement, but does that alone justify the big difference in price? Is the 7618 actually made from better quality materials or the only difference is the movement?
If most watches run at either 6Hz or 8Hz, why are the markings between seconds divided into 5ths? Shouldn't each second be divided into either 3 or 4 tick marks rather than the 5 on the ring? Maybe the quartz movements oscillate at a much higher frequency, but are they converted down to a standard Hz for the second hand and chrono sweep hand? Does that frequency ever come in denominations of 1/10th second (or 1/20th) so that the tick marks between seconds are useful and accurate?
The last watch with the vertical sub dials; the dials cut off the tick marks at the top and bottom, making it difficult to read between 57 and 3 seconds at the top and 26 and 33 seconds at the bottom. At the 3 o'clock position, you can just barely see the ticks between 14-16 seconds. Not very useful functionality for a chronograph. Regarding my previous posting above: Citizen Miyota movement 6S11-Quartz = 1/20th of a second accuracy? How is that read from the 5 tick marks/second scale on the dial?

Mineral crystal and quartz movement , 350 usd. They went CRAZY. I can get automatic Seiko Presage for this sum.
Right, but made in Hong Kong or Malaysia. This is Made in Germany. Maybe not worth it to you, but to others it is.
Long Island Watch Mark, you should know that all Presage watches are made in Japan. They have no Chenese or Malasyan versions.

My guess is, watches made in China are usually cheaper too buy. I have noticed that higher priced watches are also manufactured in lower quantities.

Movement is only one of the components of a watch. Breitling, Tag Heuer and others have quartz watches for thousands of dollars.
