@Truthfears Guilty well they do have some of the best movements in watch history such as glashutte original and a lange & sohne if you have 15k to spare
Junkers has also automatic watches in the Bauhaus and Bauhaus 100 Jahre series. Also, Zeppelin watches are made by the same company and can be found on the same website as Junkers watches. They’re essentially the same watches with different dials and branding. Love the Bauhaus series!
Thx Teddy! The Stowa ticks off the things I'm looking for in a watch for dress & everyday. Heritage German brand, 38 or less, lume, no date, ETA manual and not too "sporty" to me; plus under $750. As you mentioned, looks like I can use a bracelet, leather or NATO on it. If I get the new job this week I'm buying myself one as a present! The Max Bill manual was a very close second!! Thx again!
Teddy Baldassarre I got the silver dial (looks white) with the numbers. I considered the black but I wanted to try a bright dial for once. Worth it! Only minor con is the movement has loud ticks.
I own a Junkers Hugo chronograph white dial with Ronda quartz and I love it. Is such a great affordable watch. It may have nothing to do with the old company but who cares¿ I felt in love with it. I also plan to get a Bauhaus automatic from them or Zeppelin. They are under the same umbrella.
Great video as always! I have a Graff Zeppelin Hindenburg series, rose gold case with a black dial, black band, and a Miyota 9015 series movement. It is absolutely gorgeous, my co-workers ask me about it all the time with someone even commenting that it has steam punk vibe to it. It definitely has a early 20th century design element to it. I paid $300 for it. Wish I could share a pic of it on here, but its becoming one of my favorite watches in my collection
This video is exactly what I was looking for and I knew you would have it. I really want a Nomos but am looking at other German brands also. I just love the simplistic and thin design a lot of them have. Thank you.
Much needed content in this area for watch enthusiasts. Some of these German watches are real sleepers and are likely to increase in value like Nomos. Would be great to see your picks at the next price point.
Some amazing German brands .. A word of caution though some of the cheaper brands featured are almost certainly not German made . Acquiring the names of defunct brands with heritage is a trick often favoured by the Chinese in attempt to add prestige to what is often junk...
Thanks to your channel I have gotten back into the watch collector game. I don't have tons of money to spend, so these videos help alot. Great video. Keep them coming.
Great video as always! I’ve fallen in love with German watches as of late. I guess I need to brush up on my correct pronunciation of a lot of these brands by the comment section here😳
Difficulty for Americans: In the advertising here the company pronounces it "brawn", presumably because "brown" does not sound *European* enough. It blew my mind when I first saw a Braun ad in German, and I realized yes: "au" in Braun is pronounced as 'ow', as Donau River.
My favorite German watch right now is the Junghans Meister Telemeter. I love the vintage inspired look and coming in at 40mm for a chrono is a winner for my wrist. The Nomos Zurich World Time in midnight blue comes in at a close second in my book. While both watches are over the $1000 mark, Junghans at $2k USD and the Nomos at $6k USD, I believe they embody the spirit of German engineering and form.
I think 'Steinhart' watches have a great value for the money. Like the GMT Ocean One 39. ETA 2893-2 Elaboré, Ceramic Bezel, Sapphire. For just under 600$. Or the Ocean One Vintage Chronograph, if you want a great looking Daytona lookalike for under 1000$ ^^
Dude it’s sad but Russian watches are total crap. Saying that as a Russian. We can’t deliver any good mass consumer production since the Revolution, only heavy-duty like submarines or anti-air missiles. And some high-end handcrafted stuff too, sometimes. Not mass one.
You guys shouldn't be so negative about your watches... Yes, the quality of Russian watches varies quite a bit. But the point of getting a Russian watch isn't its perceived "quality" but its charm, that very special "cool factor" you don't get from others. It's the exact same thing with your military hardware: mostly ugly as f*ck but always very functional and robust with the same "cool factor"! I'm a sucker for your watches and I'm also Swiss by the way. My 25$ Komandirskie has way more wrist time than my Submariner. You don"t need to understand, but be glad that there are people out there that genuinly like your country's watches!
@@Sdfsoepvmsywocmzyw Sorry but I have to counter that. I've got a Russian automatic dresswatch that's incredibly thin (about 6mm) and it's still running perfectly after after about 20 years. I honestly don't know what they're making now but I am quite impressed with what they have done.
Awesome! The kind of range I’m spending right now. I just got a tissot T055.427.17.057.00 for me and a tissot T035.207.36.031.00 for my wife. Will be nice to see couples watches
Teddy, you might want to tackle the social media sponsored watches for upcoming videos. They are on my face everyday. Like filippo loreti and such. Lots of ads on fb.
Fantastic review. Great job. Which top 3-5 dress watches (from any country) would you recommend, which meet the following criteria: 1) white dial; 2) wearable with business suits; 3) wears well with larger wrists (maybe 40+mm); 4). black leather strap, 5). clean/classy, and 6). under $1k. I seem to fancy Hamilton, Junghan (sp?) Max Bill, Defakto, Breitling, but DEFINITELY open to others. Thank you for your feedback.
Hey guys! Have you heard of "Sternglas"? Also a German watch making brand :) I own the naos automatic with a black dial and ,damn son, I love it! It's antireflection sapphire crystal is truly better than from my Certina caimano. @Teddy what is your opinion on this brand?
I love German watches... And I love Junghans... Please talk about Sternglas... I know it is a new brand but they've got such a good looking watches... I'd like to know more about them... Great video
Great video as always Teddy. Love German watches but im less familiar with German budget options. Has the price on that Defakto changed? I looked into it being new to the brand and saw it listed for 915 instead of 500ish putting it more in line with max bills and stowa anteas.
About Junkers: First of all, it's pronounced YOONKERS. Second, much of the appeal of the brand isn't just the style. Junkers is a legendary, historical aircraft company. the current Junkers watch brand was established by members of the original Junkers family and the watch designs elude to the aircraft designs. This is especially notable with the Tante Ju (a nickname for the legendary JU52).
I like the Aristo watches because there are a variety of sizes. In bought the 47 mm blue starburst with a 2824-2 ETA movement. I don’t like it... I love it! Great show.
Hello ! Thank you for your nice video ! Please , tell me where is the Germany watch brad Windgassen ? Today I buy one and will be interesting for me what I bay. Thank you !
Another excellent video Teddy. Love German watches and a Laco could be my next purchase as I have no pilots watch in the collection. Some great brands there I have not heard of so will be checking them out. A Sinn and a Damasko will be in there one day too at over a thousand dollars or pounds most of them so another episode on higher priced ones would be very welcome also.
Teddy, what is your opinion on saving to buy a watch? I am 16 y/o and really want to get a junghans max bill (automatic). Is it really worth saving up for? I already have a skx013k2 and a bambino open heart. Very conflicted on if it is worth saving up for.
Definitely more along the lines of what I’m most interested in, the more affordable watches. Like you, I appreciate German styling, and will look further into the Red Baron.
My German watches that I own, Zeppelin gmt quartz, Stowa 1919 Antea, Stowa Marine 41mm with Roman numerals, Sinn 104 with black dial red seconds hand. Still need a flieger and a laco to add to the collection.
It's ok. Oh, there's a youtube video "How to pronounce German Car Names" with a guy pretending to be an angry German ranting on pronunciation. We need something like that but for German and Swiss watches names. I wonder how an angry Swiss guy may look ranting on how it's [ˈʒeʒɛʁ ləˈkultʁ] or tæg hoy-ər with ər like in "Get to zə choppər!"
I liked this video since it provided a lot of content on German watches at affordable price points. I will forward to future episodes similar to this video.

I would also highly recommend the microbrand Sternglas and their Naos 2.0! Just bought one and I’ve been really enjoying it, great bauhaus watch and value for $200
I'd love to see a video with one watch from each continent, or each region of the world. I did buy the Junkers Bauhaus after seeing it on one of your videos, and for the money I really like it.
Hey Ted! Great vid! I really like your content as i come across more variety of watches unlike many guys tt focus only on the few brands eg rolex,AP.. i am currently still considering to get the junghans chronoscope but i’ve just gotten the hamilton khaki field mechanical. Any advice?
What about Waldhoff? I know you self and many watch people don’t like skeleton watches, but I just recently bought one of their basic republic model and I am pretty happy and impressed by it......btw, I do love Nomos, Yunkers(Junkers} and Junghans very much! Cheers.
I have a black 34mm Junghans from ww2. Handwinding, black dial hesalite. I bought it for £30 recently. It's identical to the one my father had when I growing after the war.
I am looking at German watches for a while, what i don't like about them is the printed/painted dialnumbers. I wasn't attentive enough, is there at least one on Your list, that has a bit more sophistication in that area? I mean it's probably ok at the 200 end of the price spectrum, but at 900 still painted or printed? I think that is not necessarily Bauhaus spirit :D
Teddy, thanks for making these great videos, this one is excellent, German watches are of my favorites. Hopefully I’ll be able to get myself a Lange Terraluna one day.
Very informative on German brands. I am surprised there not very making their own movements. I own a vintage style Trias, automatic with a coin edge case...and I love it. I do not anything about the brand, nor who makes the movement in my particular watch and would like to know more about it. I do truly like the German styling, most of the watches you displayed in this video, I like very much. Thanks Teddy!
Great video Teddy! I am fortunate to own two Lange's. I enjoy most of the German offerings. Now we need you to look at the $1,000. to $5,000. market. I really enjoy your channel. What sources do you like for straps and accessories? Much appreciated!!
a compare and contrast between the hand wind Max Bill and Nomos Orion please. I am digging the style but a new Max Bill and a preowned Nomos are i the same range.
Hi Teddy and everybody! What do you think about MeisterSinger watches? It's relatively a new watch brand (I think less than 20 years of existence) and has some special concept of single-hand watches.
What do you think of Dugena's Minor, Dessau and Sigma-especially the chrononograph versions-as a starting point? Still dreaming of the IWC Portuguese chronograph line IW3714XX.
My wrist circumference is a little more than 7 inches. Can I wear a 38mm watch? I think it will look really small. I realy like the Max Bill otherwise. Please do a video for best watches under 1000 for people with Large wrists. I think only 41mm-44mm will suit my hand.
Great video. I didn’t even know that some of those brands were German. That Defacto looks awesome. Defacto, Archimede and Limes are related, if I remember correctly.
As a German, I can recommend Seiko! It's a japanese brand that has nothing to do with Germany, which is just exotic enough for me
Doc Milersky hahaha I love Seiko
Yeah Japan and Germany has nothing in common ;)
Just buy a japanese watch then, problem solved lmao
@Truthfears Guilty well they do have some of the best movements in watch history such as glashutte original and a lange & sohne if you have 15k to spare
Hellsing Tepech NOMOS watches use Glashütte movements as well and they don’t cost 15k but still about 1,5 - 4k
It never ceases to amaze me how many watch brands exist all with their own history and style. Informative and entertaining as always. Thanks Teddy!
I would definitely put the Sinn 556 on the list as well!
I thought it would be a stretch to include it under a $1,000. You can find some used for that, but they retail over that. The next video for sure!
It would be a Sinn not to mention it? Lol
Junkers has also automatic watches in the Bauhaus and Bauhaus 100 Jahre series. Also, Zeppelin watches are made by the same company and can be found on the same website as Junkers watches. They’re essentially the same watches with different dials and branding. Love the Bauhaus series!

I got myself the Max Bill hand winding last week. AMAZING!
Awesome! What color?
Teddy Baldassarre I got the silver dial (looks white) with the numbers. I considered the black but I wanted to try a bright dial for once. Worth it! Only minor con is the movement has loud ticks.
What is the lug width?
Pilipinazz the lug width is 18mm, so that’s very nice. The lug-to-lug length is only 37mm
Got it a few days ago! My first real watch purchase, loving it!
I completely agree, if I had to limit myself to one country for watches, it would be Germany.
Function, design and quality. Can’t be beat if you ask me!
I limit myself to watches that use Chinese parts. Oh wait that's 99.9999% of them

I did a women’s watch video just a little while back. Can definitely expand on that though!
By couples I mean his and hers look alike watches. Wife loves that .... my wallet doesnt

That Laco's on my grail list!
Zeppelin needed more time! It has more way better designed pieces, I believe it's one of the classiest designed watches. Love your work, keep it up!
He just zoomed past that one, haha

I believe you are correct. Totally agree on the Defakto as well. Possibly my favorite from the list.
Teddy what do you know about Anonimo watched?
Nice video. Given the bauhaus style of most of the watches listed I would have thought the Laco Dresdon would have made it on.
Good job Teddy!
