    Blue Spot is incredible. I just wish it was more available. I have to jump on it whenever it comes to my area.

      I hope I catch it when it's released this year. I missed it last time. The tag was on the shelf but no bottles.

    Great collection, for just starting your whiskey journey.

      I kind of went all in. As soon as I realized I liked tasting whisk(e)y with my brother in law I decided the next step would be to document the journey and stat this channel. It has been a blast!

    Great review and 100% agree with the score. We’ve enjoyed it a lot but haven’t been enamored with them and probably do prefer RB12CS.

      It's so hard to beat the RB12CS. That bottle has a whole lot of special flavors going on in it.

    Big fan of Spots, all of them. Love Blue Spot so much that I have 2 backup bottles, lol. Madeira is Portuguese Desert wine, too sweet for mine taste.

      I hope I get lucky and hit the store in time to pick up another bottle of the Blue when it comes out this year. I missed lasted years release by 2 days. The tag was on the shelf but the shelf was empty.

      @@whiskeyisajourney You still can find it online. I think I saw it for $180 or so.

    Green Spot is the only one I see consistently here, so I may have to look for some of these on my travels.

    Blue Spot is my favorite of the spots that I’ve had (green, green CL, green CM, and blue). I find Teeling to be much better with the Single Grain beating many Irish and Scotch offerings in blinds. It’s also available and priced right.

    • @whiskeyisajourney
      @whiskeyisajourney  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not had the single grain from Teeling. Sounds like I need to at some point. Cheers!

    Haven’t had the Blue Spot. I’ve had some of their other offerings and they have all been good.

      @whiskeyisajourney  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think they are all good with the exception of the Gold Spot. In my opinion that one just does not hold up with the others in the line up. My review of the Gold Spot comes out July 17th. Cheers.

      @@whiskeyisajourney thanks for the heads up. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever seen that one. I’ve definitely seen the blue spot in the past but did not get it.

    Peter, per Mitchell&Sons, the 2020 was the first release in the US and was at 58.7% ABV. The 2021 and 2022 releases were both at 58.9%. Loving that 58.7%, haven't cracked the 58.9% yet. Cheers!!

    If you start doing some battles, you should see if there is a way you can blind it to remove bias. Would be very interested in watching that!

    • @whiskeyisajourney
      @whiskeyisajourney  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was thinking of putting the battle samples together and then have someone number them so I don't know what's what. I think that should work.

    • @travismorita2236
      @travismorita2236 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@whiskeyisajourney As long as they are similar in color and proof as to not give away which is which. If you end up battling two whiskies with big enough differences in proof, it might be worthwhile to measure water with a syringe to proof them down equally.

    • @whiskeyisajourney
      @whiskeyisajourney  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@travismorita2236 I have black Glen Karen's so color won't be a problem if the color is that much different. And as I look through my collection, I'll start matching them up based on proof so I don't have to worry about proofing one of them down.

      Blinds are fun but they also aren’t gospel. Palates change day to day and the sip you take before another sip will influence your palate, as well. When you get into cask strengths, the palate is also quick to get overwhelmed and nuances get lost pretty quickly. They are fun and interesting though, just not objective.

    I am a Single Pot Still whiskey fan, yet I'm somewhat reluctant to pick up a bottle of Blue Spot ($129 to $180 here in SoCal) knowing that Redbreast 12 CS can be had for as low as $90.
    Madeira finished whiskies remind me of ripe figs baked in honey..!!! 🥃

      Based on a comment from @neilrobertson6849 I am going to get a a few bottles of sherry so I can reference the notes a little better and see if I actually like sherry. This will be fun.

    I’m not sure the batch/year version but i saw this earlier in the week for $179.99 down in gilbert….
    Is it even remotely worth it at that price point and or whats the max you’d pay now for a follow up bottle?
    Thx Peter! Nice vid!

      That's a tough call. I love the proof and if I had the money at the time I'd probably buy it. Is it worth it... probably not, but I've paid more for less so?????

    Thanks for another great review, Peter. Don't think I'll be interested in this bottle. A bit too much money, and it seems that Green or Yellow Spot is more my cup of tea!

      When I start my head to head battles in August I am going to put Blue Spot up against Redbreast 12 CS and the Yellow Stop up against the the regular Redbreast 12. They will be blinded so it will be interesting to see how that goes.
