To quote the great critic Bill Needle: "I thought this might be one of those "women shows" you know where women who have no problems sit around and talk about their problems". But it wasn't. Great stuff, and good to see Dave is still going great , eh? As hosers go, he's still 1 of the best. #GreatWhiteNorthRulesEh? (p.s. the hockey sketch Dave references is Johnny playing Sittler & Joe playing Montreal Canadien great Guy LaFleur.."you want some Pepsi with that Guy?"..lol. Classic)
Three years later, I'm finding this channel. I swear, is there ANY character on SC-TV that isn't outshining the best of hyperboles? Dave THomas - from Walter Cronkite to Bob Hope and a kajillion others. And creating greatness each outing. Just amazing.
I LOVE your show, Jen, but please do something about the sound. I could barely hear Dave. I think this was the same problem with Martin Short. You are loud and clear but it's difficult to hear the guest. Thanks SO much for sharing your talent AND your amazing friends, my heroes, SCTV alumni. :)
@@CouchCandy Yes, I enjoyed seeing you and Dave immensely. Thanks and please keep the videos of your wonderful guests coming. Such a joy to see you and your guest having such fun...contagious!
I've heard the scraped sketch featuring John Candy as Elvis mentioned frequently, but I don't know if it's been noted that he did do a variation of that sketch much later on in SCTV as Pavarotti falling through the stage while singing an aria, which was aired. Also John played his insane taxidermist character referred to in the interview not only on the stage but also in a first season episode.
I found this show following Joe Flaherty's death. The skit Dave is referencing at 9:15 is from one of the first half-dozen episodes in Season 1 of SCTV. Fake ad for Cornabix cereal. Flaherty is Guy Lafleur. Candy is Darryl Sittler. As kids, my brother and I couldn't pick up our hockey sticks without saying, "I use a Darryl Sittler hockey stick" in a really bad French accent. And then, "And I use a Guy Lafleur hockey stick" in a squeaky voice. The fight at the end was always optional.
John Candy is the greatest sketch comedy actor ever. He made you happy as soon as he appeared on screen. Watch Paul Fistinyourface build a table for kids or Yellow Belly shoot a kid and his Mom in the back or Johnny Larue grovel one minute then angry as hell the next. Thanks to John Candy
I grew up with this stuff. I still love it. Great seeing these stellar comedians a mere 2 years ago. The hostess is awful, interrupts/talks too much, and the audio of her and the audience drowns out what Dave is saying. Still glad to see these comedians despite the vehicle. SCTV was/is awesome!!!
Jen, I just want to say that your father is my idol. He brought many laughs to our family, some that have been immortalized in our gatherings. ❤️
Texan who loves SCTV here. Long live SCTV!
Dave is a comedy genius.
Bob Hope no one did a better imitation than Dave Thomas

We love you DAVE
That laugh 4:16. John Candy lives on in Jen Candy's laugh, mannerisms and looks. :)
It’s like watching a female John. Wild.
@@DJ-bj8ku Right? It's uncanny. Wow!
John Candy was a VERY special person! Dave Thomas is really great, too!
This show is really neat! Thank You for posting⭐
Looking forward to lots more episodes😎

Great interviews with my favorite comedians!

Technology and 🎤. You can never get them to fully work when you want them too . Tried our best to fix in post. Hope you still enjoyed .

such happy memories
I think Jen would be a fun person to hang out with.
Mic up people
I knew when I saw that big window in the sketch somebody was gonna get defenstrated.
Rick Moranis?
Love the show and of course the Candy man, but you cant hear half of what Dave is saying here :(
Something wrong with the audio on this show...
What was his favourite candy?
The audience is louder than Tom
I feel bad now. Dave Thomas played so many angry characters so well I assumed he was a jerk in real life. Glad to see I'm very wrong.
I was just thinking that Ramis was probably the biggest perv at sctv. That's what got me searching sctv.
