I own a 2014 IS350 F-Sport in Silver Metallic with Red/Burgandy interior. I love everything about the car except for the infotainment! I owned a 2018 IS300 4 cyl for about a year and a half. It was a great little car. Only downsides are interior room and maintenance costs. It ran through a set of tires in about 15-20k miles since the wheels are staggered, turbo regulator valve was stuck open and replaced under warranty, 4 cyl calls for spark plugs every 40k miles, and water pump started failing around 65k miles. Traded it in since depreciation really started taking a hit and got a 2009 Acura TL. Definitely a different feel, but it’s sporty enough.
@@little123456788 I’m not sure if turbos models are more problematic. I have the 2018 Lexus IS 300 AWD ( V6) fsport and it comes with staggered wheels too. Heads up the 8 speed in the non F models is the AA81E doesnt have nearly as aggressive gearing and internally weaker compared to the AA80E 8speed found in all F models. RR Racing a popular tuner for Lexus vehicles has confirmed this with their boosted builds on 350 and F products.

The reason why the es doesnt have rear folding seats is to preserve the road noise from coming in. Most road noise comes from the trunk area. So non folding rear seats provides more noise canceling than folding ones
I'm about to hit 125k miles on my 2018 is350 F sport. I replaced tires at 40k miles and at 60k and at 90k miles. Due to my fun driving. I replaced the spark plugs at 75k. Runs like a champ.
It’s a shame they got rid of the Yamaha Sports Bike exhaust tips from the 2017-20 models. Instead, they replaced them with some ordinary looking round tips. Also there’s a big difference between the F SPORT and non F SPORT models for 2017-20. The seats, suspension and driving dynamics are so much better on F models. The car feels so much eager to go faster and more stable at speeds on corners. The non F Sport is too relaxed and it’s always trying to stay in the upper gears. I’d like to try the 2021 models for comparison:)
Lexus IS is one of the vehicle that can’t compete with its competitors when it comes to the performance (such as BMW 3 and Merc C class) but you can still appreciate it thanks to the refinement.
Only thing I am wondering is why the 300h never got mentioned (or maybe I missed it), because that is the one I am interested in buying. Yes is it a hybrid and yes I am a car guy, but tbh I love that amazing consumption it can get.
Change your oil sooner than they tell you in owners manual. If it’s DIrect injection 250 or 350 where it gets help from port where it still has DI. DI is brutal on oil.

I have MY2018 IS 300H F-Sport with AVS suspension, moonroof and ML sound & premium Nav. I still love this car even after 150k km. There is some magic that I can´t explain, robust interior, excellent sound system, in dark when I walk by to take out garbage it illuminates mirrors I give look on it. Build quality is awesome and everything works like charm even I got 220k km on ODO. I have big problem because they end selling it in EU after 2019, what to drive next, I don´t want ES or SUV, this is last RWD Lexus in market.. Maybe I go with Corolla because it´s all same to me after all :(. But I have still 100-200k km left to run. I have driven many MBs, Audis, BMWs but something is missing, German made cars are kind of a cold, too engineered and complex. I also hate touch screens. Lexus IS MMI is crappy, I learned to use it pretty good after all, but where Lexus beats all competitors are physical buttons, basic functions are separate and material quality is very nice. I bought it just before Covid-shit and interior is like new, materials are true quality, hot summers and very cold winters, no any rattles or squeeks. Many German made cars door panels are annoyingly loose in before 150k km. Greets from Finland!
@@2002champ13 if you are looking at the IS line I definitely recommend getting the IS350. The IS200t and IS300 are basically the same. The 300 replaced the 200t. Considering IS or RC. While IS isn't as exciting as RC coupe - it is lighter and lsd was part of F-sport package, while on RC it was an option. Therefore, for RC you need to check additionally the option list or axle code. Kevin! I know you drove them both, is there a huge difference? Back in April of 2022 I was able to sell my 370z that was breaking down for a good price to get my 2014 IS 350 F-Sport. The 370z made me drive aggressively because of how fast it could go and how it can take corners. Although the Lexus wasn't as fast and agile as the 370z, it made me feel good even when driving at slow speed cause it drives so smoothly lmao. My grandmother approved of it as well, as she was worried of my 370z from making all of that road noise when I used to give her rides to places and when I first got my Lexus, she was in prayer position thanking God while the car sales guy was laughing his ass off 😂 I also want to mention that my monthly car insurance went down from $212 a month to $84 a month when I made the switch(I've been driving for around 10 years with a clean record besides 2 minor accidents towards the beginning of my driving years both which wasn't my fault)

Yes skip it and get a 350 F sport and most importantly, no point in messing with the used car market for a semi new car, just get a brand new one. Autcompanion is offering 11% off msrp on new Lexus IS 300 & IS 350 and additional incentive for leasing. Literally ends up costing the same if not even less to buy new in this market
@@MeynMotorGroup I see. Although CBU , I wouldn't worry too much of all the maintenance is done properly and up to date. There's no record of any problem like that in IS models in my country. Also, the gasoline here(regular one) has higher percentage of ethanol, which helps not to formate the carbon. I heard opinions for long time owners as well, and if the maintenance is done regularly, there shouldn't be a problem. Regarding the power, that's something to think about, but I think it would be enough. Let's see. 😀 But thanks for replying. 😀
Came from both c class and g20. Those cars were stiff. Seats were too firm. Mercedes nowadays have too big of a screen which looks very cheaply built. On the other hand, g20 has a more better well thought out and built interior however the ride is not comfortable on any road surfaces. My current IS300h has a smooth power delivery. Soft enough for rough roads. The double wishbone geometry also helps a lot when cornering which makes the cornering feels very flat due to consistent camber even though the car is soft. The interior is super dated. But it’s the most well put together. Very good material. As long as it has apple carplay and cold ac i’m good
I personally wouldn’t recommend tuning a car as it voids warranty. I think the best thing is paying up for an IS 350 F sport AWD as it will have better resale value as well. Also I forgot to mention the IS 300 RWD is a turbo 4 engine which I don’t recommend

I took delivery of a '23 IS500 & recently had a '22 IS500 Launch Edition. It's a very special fun car plus it's the last n/a V8 sedan from Japan. I told myself If I decide to sell it will be for a '23 GX460.
Yea I thought the no contract thing was fun especially between two big corps. I noticed IS 350s are becoming decent lease deals now but that 500 for sure is the one

I own a 2014 IS350 F-Sport in Silver Metallic with Red/Burgandy interior. I love everything about the car except for the infotainment! So I swapped it out for an aftermarket display that looks identical to the factory setup. Android Auto/Apple CarPlay made a world of difference and makes the car feel modernized.
I also own a 2014 IS350 F-Sport. Do you mind if I ask where did you get aftermarket display setup? I agree the infotainment system is useless unless you have 2020 model and up.

Happy owner of IS 350 sport , perfect , beautiful drive, reliable, sporty, no intention to change it any time soon
Had my 2014 white on red awd f sport just over 2 years now. One of the best cars I’ve owned as a daily driver. Sporty enough to not be boring with an amazing, reliable engine, and it gets sideways if you turn off the traction control in the snow. Only issues I’ve had is that my infotainment and sound went out so I’ll have to get that fixed /replaced. Otherwise I’m happy. I’m tempted to lease the new model, but I really want the IS500, so it’s better to just save for that.
What was the issue, how did you fix?
@@Pablolargo. haven’t found a fix yet, will update here when I do

I’ve watched your IS videos before. I started looking for a 350 F Sport and managed to get a test drive on a 2019 IS300 awd F Sport at one point. Went back and started looking at pricing for a 300 awd F Sport and realized I could save $4000 for a apples to apples comparable 350. Ended up buying a clean history 2017 IS300 awd F Sport with 58,000 miles for $21900 in late February 2024. I just turned 64,000 miles on it, love driving the car, perfect so far. I quickly performed the 60,000 mile service and Installed the F Sport air intake system and got e tuned. Loving it, thank you because listening to your videos made me get out there and look for my IS.
Hey if you don’t mind me asking what’s the maintenance cost come out to a year? I was thinking of a similar car importing from Japan s
Oh wow thanks for sharing this
Should've gotten the V6 model. Turbos are garbage
@@little123456788 I’m not sure if turbos models are more problematic. I have the 2018 Lexus IS 300 AWD ( V6) fsport and it comes with staggered wheels too. I haven’t had any problems with tread wears like the guy mentioned above. But I did replace DRIVE DRIVE belt at 40,000 miles which I thought was strange. The car has 49,000 miles now and I haven’t changed spark plugs. The dealer hasn’t recommended me to as yet. I have, however, performed brake fluid flush and battery replacement.

I currently own a 2018 Lexus IS F Sport Turbo version. I Love it and have put around 45K miles on it.
I do agree it has some issues I didn't like so I made it better by
1) Retrofitting the entire 2023 Lexus RCF Center Console
2) Added Wireless Apple Carplay/Android Auto into the OEM Multimedia System
3) Retrofitted the Lexus RCF Big Brake Kit
4) Swapped out all lower Suspension arms to harsher Poly bushing + harsher LCA Bushing to correct its suspension/ lower its Wheel base a bit.
5) Added the Full LED Headlight Triple Beam/ Rear Turn Signals that Europe and Japan got.
6) Added the OEM F Sport Performance Axleback to give it a low growl but keep it OEM+
The difference is night and day compared to how it was stock and love driving it everyday, of course its extra money to add but I never plan to sell it and its been an easy car to maintain and take care of past 4 years of owning the car :)

Had a mint 2014 is350 rwd f sport that I loved but sold it when the covid prices went thru the roof.

Lexus IS is one of the vehicle that can’t compete with its competitors when it comes to the performance (such as BMW 3 and Merc C class) but you can still appreciate it thanks to the refinement.
Straight line performance maybe, but it leads its class as soon as you turn the steering wheel.
Only thing I am wondering is why the 300h never got mentioned (or maybe I missed it), because that is the one I am interested in buying.
Yes is it a hybrid and yes I am a car guy, but tbh I love that amazing consumption it can get.
IS 300h wasn’t available in US or Canada, it was only available in EU and Australia. I have a 2020 EU IS 300h since new and it is a great car!
The GS rear seats do not fold down. Despite being a larger vehicle, it cannot carry as large items as the smaller IS with folding rear seats.

Considering IS or RC. While IS isn't as exciting as RC coupe - it is lighter and lsd was part of F-sport package, while on RC it was an option. Therefore, for RC you need to check additionally the option list or axle code.

My grandmother approved of it as well, as she was worried of my 370z from making all of that road noise when I used to give her rides to places and when I first got my Lexus, she was in prayer position thanking God while the car sales guy was laughing his ass off 😂
I also want to mention that my monthly car insurance went down from $212 a month to $84 a month when I made the switch(I've been driving for around 10 years with a clean record besides 2 minor accidents towards the beginning of my driving years both which wasn't my fault)
The two isn't even comparable. One is a Japanese muscle car and one is luxury with quality fit and finish.
Wait what happened with the Nissan 370z? What kept breaking down on it?
Thank you for this.

Yes skip it and get a 350 F sport and most importantly, no point in messing with the used car market for a semi new car, just get a brand new one. @@MeynMotorGroup Because of the lack of power? Reliability?
Lack of power and carbon build up since it’s only DI
@@MeynMotorGroup I see. Although CBU , I wouldn't worry too much of all the maintenance is done properly and up to date. There's no record of any problem like that in IS models in my country. Also, the gasoline here(regular one) has higher percentage of ethanol, which helps not to formate the carbon. I heard opinions for long time owners as well, and if the maintenance is done regularly, there shouldn't be a problem.
Regarding the power, that's something to think about, but I think it would be enough. Let's see. 😀
But thanks for replying.
As long as it has apple carplay and cold ac i’m good
Also came with 2.0 I-4 turbo (IS200t) engine.
So overall , no serious problems with these cars ?

Carbon buildup due to Direct Injection. Putting additives in the gas tank do nothing as the gas never hits the back of the valves. Shame they just keep doing it over and over and over. The IS350 has duel port injection so they are not affected by carbon buildup issues.
