    My MYLR costs about 4.8 cents per mile in electricity. So if you charged 25 cents per mile, it seems you could make a profit and it would be much more convenient than a bus. It might be more expensive than a bus ticket if you go far, but it would take MUCH less time and take you right to the door, not 4 blocks away. Plus you could go when you want without knowing the time table or correct bus to catch.

      The longer the distance the LESS you need fast charging since you must stop to eat and such anyway. Range for years now is no longer a factor, most people don't drive 100 miles in a WEEK. It takes about 15 minutes to get 200 miles on a Tesla supercharger - if that's not acceptable then you have bigger problems than being slow and old.

    So the problem with eliminating buses which it doesn't seem like Elon understands is that you need 60 two seat robo taxies to fill up the same amount of people one 120 person accordion bus can hold, buses are just more space efficient. Then the next step up trains, subways, monorails are even more efficient than that. Realistically you'd want all 3 as a part of a public transportation network. Rail for high speed, high volume, bus to branch the arteries further and taxi for specific last mile, time sensitive or privacy.

    Rideshare and public transportation is a finite market and it's size is already known. People don't just use cars for moving a human from point to point. Some cars are never used just for that. People who do the shopping need a place to put the stuff they bought. People with some type of employment need to be able to have a car standing by to respond quickly when needed. There are also some situations when it's not safe to have to wait for a taxi, you need to have your car right near you at all times.

    I'd love for the Robo Taxi program to succeed, but I just don't see it happening, partly because I just don't see a day where a car can autonomously drive people without any issues. Getting it right 90% of the time isn't good enough. It needs to never need to be rescued by a human being. Or at a minimum, allow a human to remotely save it if need be. I envision too many scenarios like we saw in San Francisco, where autonomous Chevy Bolts were stalling in the middle of the road, causing chaos. And I really don't want my Tesla MYLR driving people around. Any money you get will be countered by the worth of your car going down because of all of the miles being up on.

    Robo-taxi isn't going to replace buses or trains... The economics of mass transportation are undisputed, lower net cost of running the service, far more efficient use of space to move the same number of people. Trains are already electric... if you make a bus with the same technology as the car, its not even remoted close.

    Robotaxi is best looked at with cities that geographically sparse like LA. Here buses may have long winding routes to get to your destination. Point to point transportation at a slightly higher cost than buses and half the price of Uber will definitely work. Also work quickly. What way o go to San Fran LA and Arizona ? Easy they don’t have a smaller higher public transport system, like New York. So robotaxes won’t be as popular in places like London Paris Tokyo or New York but definitely places like LA, Chicago, Texas Chinese cities Sydney etc.

    Love your channel! I pre-ordered 3 x cybertrucks due to the initial value. At $80k for dual motor I have decided to buy a diesel truck. If the Cybertruck becomes reasonable to my standard I will reconsider. I’m thinking $60k is good value so I expect I will never own the Cybertruck.
    I rate my Tesla model y 8/10 and could easily be 10/10 if Tesla increased range and made sears larger with ventilation. I struggle with daily recharging up to teslas recommended 80% and returning over 20%. That gives me far less than 200 miles a day. So I find myself using two vehicles a day. If my Tesla had a real world 350 miles after all charging limitations and larger, more comfortable ventilated seats my Tesla would be 10/10. For this reason I will wait on the updated model y.

      Employers and others demand we be in a specific place at a specific time. Public transportation does not meet that requirement. Oh, maybe you mean before you charge... well 250 miles at 60-70mph is 3.5-4hrs of driving. Most people also eat while on road trips. So stop, plug in, recharge the car and your body. 15min later you're ready to drive another 150miles -- or ~2hrs. Why do you keep on going into 'charging'. Living in Europe, in The Netherlands, basically, every sizable gas station includes high speed chargers, often there is another, larger, charge station next to many gas stations. And 11-20 kW street charging is available at just about every strip mall or in neighborhoods. Many employers have fitted their parking lots with a number of EV chargers (11-20kW) - which they often maximize for about three hours so all can benefit. No need to charge at Tesla except for their pricing, but pricing is mixed. Cannot imagine that the US gas stations won't install high speed chargers - there is money in these. Tesla is just a brand which you constantly mention, Shell however is the global market leader in chargers (as an OEM, they organize the 'back office'). You seem to not mention that. And don't forget, Tesla produces a lot in China and Elon is extremely politicized. So, really sell your soul for extremist dicatorship (best friend of Russia) ? I don't get why you don't offer the whole story and still say so Tesla-oriented. Tesla's market share in the EV world has dropped and many brand do include ergonomics, Tesla does not.

    • @wj9494
      @wj9494 4 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@nas4apps “…there is money in these…” there really isn’t, in the US yet. When I was in Europe a couple of years ago, the DC charge cost was at $0.60 (€0.55) / kWh. This is considerably higher than in the US, where it’s about half this, thanks, Elon!
      At the high speed chargers rate in the US, it’s not cost effective to run a high speed charger network. EVgo has been trying to do it, for several years, only installs chargers in busy areas (no rural chargers) etc., but still can’t make a profit. There isn’t money in it here.

    Wait a minute, did they adapt the testing to the cars and now out of nowhere they have more range so we sing praises as if the battery tech was updated and you get 200 more miles, not what is stated here. I'll tell you about the real world, I rive my Model Y LR AWD, always the same rout, and it's a great circuit of 24 miles and I have a third highway, a third suburb, and a third city driving, and I newer came close to the range estimate of 330 miles, and I drive at the speed limit or 3-7 miles over the limit, that is real world. And the most I got was 236 miles, and I ran down the battery from 100% to 2%. Also tested it on the highway driving to the sea, and it was even worse. I cal BS on this video and changing the testing. Why do you think so many people are disappointed about the range when they start to regularly drive the car. Or we live in a different universe and the real world is complete different for you than me. Also, the argument you need to drive an electric car differently then a gas powered one is BS, if I need to overtake someone I use the power of the car, I don't say: Not today, today we are driving the electric way (Insert Faceplam). Also we need the M3P battery from CATL in the Model Y refresh, but not at the 77kw, just to eak out more profit and stay in the "we will give you 10% more range, but we will make more money, and you will b ecstatic. Tesla should not skimp on the battery, if M3P is more energy dense and cheaper to produce, they need to push the technology boundaries and not become the Intel of EV's, who gave us 3-5 % improvement in CPU power for 13 year, and then AMD just rolled over them. I love Tesla, but I don't want them to become complacent in the most important area.
