I would have put atleast a killer B pickup, baffle and windage tray in. Never will see it but good piece of mind. Even a better oil pump. Not quite “purity” but oh well
Nice to see some progress guys! I remember rebuilding these a lot back in the mid 2000’s! Funniest story I have is I remember one NA lump I rebuilt, I managed to install the heads on backwards onto the block…. No harm done but funny! My work colleges had a laugh! 😂 Need abit more lube on the threads Spence, sounded like My wallet!
The heart of the beast,I had to go back because I didn’t think I had watched as much I just couldn’t remember how it was 🤦🏻♂️nice job and look forward to the next one
Since the last episode I've bought my own classic Impreza ('97 UK2000). It's a clean and original car for its age but your videos have given me the motivation to continue doing the odd jobs it needs. Great to see an update and top work as always
Great series this and a great company, Torque GT. Glad to know my car that you sourced for me and I love so much is safely in your hands at the moment for some tlc. Best wishes all atTorque.
Absolutely stunning. Beautiful!! 👌😎 I love building motors up. It must be bliss when everything is in the condition. Enjoyed that. I didn't know the P1 came with an open deck block. You'd have thought Subaru would have at least put the semi closed deck block in it.
Amazing content so detailed and so clean! I always come back to check on this build as I have a mint 2000 2.5RS and 2007 STi with 19k miles. Do you know the song used at 16:00?! This was such an excellent choice!
Great work Dan, glad to see this build still getting attention it'll be on the road in no time with the Lada! When are you getting back on the telly? Dave re-runs aren't enough! Also are you going to be improving the locks/security on this one? I'm sure you know how easy these cars (and most cars this age) are to get into and we don't want any of this goodness going missing! Cheers Leo ;)
Great video! I’ve been waiting for this video go so long! Can I ask which digital torque wrench you guys use? I need to upgrade mine ready for an engine rebuild I’m starting.
Looks great but I'm very concerned about those flywheel bolts! It looks like you plated them? Plating bolt significantly lowers the strength of them (i did a similar replate job with my partners ej and i snapped quite a few bolts reinstalling them due to them being weakened) I would not trust replated flywheel bolts, if they break and that flywheel breaks loose you could loose your legs. Please please replace them with new ones! I would also replace any mission critical bolts such as engine mounts bolts, case bolts etc. With new.
@@markrwyatt don’t the factory 2.5 na and most Subaru engines have a out line around the head gaskets as an adhesive apparently those give around 150 to 220 kms duno if the turbo motors have same head gasket
Why are you putting in an open deck block. Even a semi-closed as a minimun or get a closed deck should be a sure! I'm shocked by the choice you've gone with.
Given what they're known to do, it makes absolutely no sense using a standard rod and piston. Even a very light upgrade in this department would be very sensible, and to think that the best offerings here are British too. Silly. And when the 257 lets go, which it will, you will end up going 207 anyway.
Great to have you back, the gap was big and I was worried Project Binky might finish before this series 😂
No other car project on the internet will ever finish after Binky😁
😂😂😂😂I've been watching binky for many moons and it never seems to be even close to finishing 😅😅
I heard he's feeling unsatisfied and taking Binky bk to bare chassis 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@beargraham5245 u got jokes 🤣 😂 😒 😐 😆 😳 🤣
Loved it see u in 4 months then
Best video from drivetribe!
Finaly!!! An update for the P1 Project!! Im so happy
It’s been a LONG 10 months!
Stoked for another video ❤
Looks fantastic! Keep up the great work! And please don't go away like first time, you guys have killer JDM content.
I would have put atleast a killer B pickup, baffle and windage tray in. Never will see it but good piece of mind. Even a better oil pump. Not quite “purity” but oh well
Glad to see some news about the P1.
This is petrolhead therapy. Amazing guys!
You'll never know just how happy I am to see a new episode of this - car looks AMAZING!!

BEAUTIFUL! That stock oil pick up scares me. Not sure on the failure rate, but it does happen. Fingers crossed for you guys! Keep up the good work...

She’s a thing of beauty 👌
It’s absolutely stunning keep up the fantastic work
It's fantastic to see the build back. Great job by everyone, and it looks stunning. Missed this build so much
It looks so good just even that this stage! Imagine a man sitting in public smiling watching a P1 being built 😁
Top job! Something very satisfying about seeing freshly zinced bolts on an older car. 👌.
Good things come to those who wait. Great to see ye back. That build it just eff'n lovely.
EJ do have engine hoist points. One is AC compressor bracket and other is intercooler bracket.

Was literally thinking about this build the other day. Awesome to see it's still progressing!
I’ve just seen the entire playlist today. Gorgeous project mate! Excited to see this beauty running on his best form.
This is like a mighty car mods episode epic guys

Absolutely stunning!! Great to see the vlog back
Looking fantastic! Just caught up on the series this morning (meaning I binged the last 9 🤓) Can't wait for the next one!

One of the best series I've had the pleasure to watch. Thank you for the huge effort.
Thank God ,,, love this build , thanks so much 🐻💙
Incredible attention to detail. Love it 🤌🏼
I was looking just last week on your channel to see if i had missed an upload. Glad to see you back and glad to see the car coming together.

Great stuff Seann! Would you mind emailing some pics to hello@torque-gt.co.uk?
Have been waiting so long for the P1 build but have to say worth the wait.
11 out of 10 work as always.
Well done.
Didn’t need to wait months for cam covers ICP always have them in stock, I’ve not long got some myself
Next video in the series will be January '25 :P
Good to see the progress! Awesome build/resto

EngineTuner 👌
Nice job on this beauty, love the vids 👍
Waiting ages to see this 😀
I just added a EWG to my exhaust collector. I may have a spare heat shield that you're looking for. Reach out!!!
Great to see you back at last the car is looking Fuckin amazing can’t wait for the next video 👍🏻
🙏 wow, you are back. 🤙
Welcome back
What's the cover you're after? I couldn't quite see in the vid.
Been waiting for this 😍 looks beautiful. Cant wait for it to be fired up
Just perfect!!

Omg there's so many JDM hero's you don't need to focus on the P1 with all the other metal there.
Nice build,,Hope you primed the oil pump with Vaseline 🤙
Hello, I would like to know what spark plugs they used in that engine, greetings from Chile.
Can anyone tell me the name of the song that plays at about 11 minutes in? It's amazing. As is the video!
What did you use to paint the engine block and cylinder heads??
Whens next one on?
When is the next video coming out?
You forgot the pitch stop mount on the gearbox!
I wouldn't worry about what the outside of the engine looks like ol boy.
Yeeeeeeees finally.
No cyl 4 cooling mods?
So good to hear a uk man say impreza right👍🏻 and not impretza. 14:40
P1 open deck block?
Finally!!!
Right spark plugs aren’t actually that bad to do on a Subaru
Those head bolts did not sound very nice being tightened up.. no lube?
Nice bB!
P1nky is back!
So your putting the factory Subaru head gasket not a mls
I’m actually curious.. what do you know about Subaru head gasket issues besides them becoming a meme?
@@markrwyatt don’t the factory 2.5 na and most Subaru engines have a out line around the head gaskets as an adhesive apparently those give around 150 to 220 kms duno if the turbo motors have same head gasket
And that’s just what I herd is have a factory Subaru head gasket it’s just a matter off time so time bomb
The factory AA483 headgasket that the EJ205/207 used is a MLS. The AA633 that the EJ251/253 used had the issues with the head gaskets.
What’s the song 15:50 ?
Sooo…when’s the next episode???
Its a shame that its worth more standard than with a upgrade EJ25
Shame about the engine bay I would have thought it would have been original Matt colour
19:32 Uhhh....what?
AC Compressor bracket and the engine wiring harness bracket...
My thoughts too....unless it was removed from the P1?
Баце ако си беше цъфнал тиквата в скоростната кутия щях да ревна от смях.
What happened to this build
Why not just buy a new OEM shortblock? Its not like they are that expensive from Subaru.
To keep it original more?
Never hit play do fast.
same
Yep, ditto.
Why are you putting in an open deck block. Even a semi-closed as a minimun or get a closed deck should be a sure! I'm shocked by the choice you've gone with.
This car is going to be better than the over priced P25 that is anything but a ‘classic’ Subaru 🙄
Crikey! There's no 't' in 'Impreza', ya silly Pommy bastards! 🇦🇺🚗
