Something I was told a long time ago is if you’re going for a meaty throw (or in general a throw), never assume it’s going to work so you can react faster to any escape attempts.
I highly recommend practicing shimmy spacing against Zangief since he has the longest reaching normal throw. Nothing hurts quite like getting the muscle memory down for a universal situation to then find out some characters are built different.
The only man in the FGC that just does dense content start to finish of the video with no filler. I've been following your drills since I was bronze and now in master trying to push through to 1600 MR for the first time I am still getting great help from your videos with stuff that is in my notes that I need to work on.
This format for drills is awesome, and super digestible. You make it really easy to understand how to set these drills up in training mode which is something I really appreciate! Hoping for more quick drills like this in the future.
Great tips, especially the corner shimmy one! And, thank you for sharing that Guile tip- I had actually figured that out a couple of weeks ago, but I had forgotten about it until now!
I basically just find the extremely high mental stack to be fatiguing. Having to be ultra locked in to check drive rushes all the time makes it hard for me to get into the fighting game flow state and then sometimes I still get hit by a drive rush I'm anticipating which I find frustrating. Been playing Gran Blue fantasy vs which I don't find nearly as draining.
Good info for corner shimmy & DRC pressure. Glad you mentioned characters without a DP or throw loop. My main doesn't have them, though my sub does. 🙂 Got to silver 3 yesterday, but play far less than I'd like to (and play other fighters). Only had time for counter DI, AA & combos in training. 2-3 minutes is solid info of how much time to spend on each (after setting up wakeup & block reversal slots). Not sure I could get 10 in a row in ever, but can try to get at least a few. Impressive stuff. Thanks.
The shimmy drill is just what I needed! It's been a thorn at my side for far too long. I'm tired of getting clipped by cr Mk Lol. Have you done any training drills for dealing with unexpected Drive Impacts?
@Chris_F Both really, execution and combo choice after the different responses from the opponent and also situations to use raw drive rush, when it’s less likely to get checked and options for mixups after etc. Thought it might be a good idea for a video and it’s something I don’t really use in my gameplay at the moment.
The step by step is very helpful for me. I have seen these referred to before but being extra explicit leaves no doubt on everything I should do and in what order. Thank you!
If you don't know a technique that will allow you to get a better rank, then you don't deserve that rank. No one deserves a better rank without education, training, and hard work.

I totally agree with this!
always b redy to autocorrect dp, dp, or aware of backdash/tech throw from opponent

I appreciate the kind words, and congrats on Master! I love getting comments like this. I feel lucky to have been part of your journey!
W comment, congrats, best of luck

I'm glad you enjoyed the format, I'll definitely keep it in mind for future drills!
Just started my sf6 journey, and im glad to have found this. I need a break from strive.
Strive was my first fighting game but I enjoy sf6 a lot more. I hope you have a good time!
Welcome to the SF6 community! Glad I could help
Great tips, especially the corner shimmy one! And, thank you for sharing that Guile tip- I had actually figured that out a couple of weeks ago, but I had forgotten about it until now!
Guile gang💪🏻
Tonight, I played a couple of matches, and I hit someone with that Drive Rush throw attempt-Flash Kick the jump out setup!
Currently stuck in low 1600MR and love your video help me improve and actually learn the game dynamics keep it up!
Hope the drills are a good starting point to raise your MR!
Hey man, long time follower. Nice to see how far you've come. Keep up with the good stuff, you're amazing!
Appreciate that! Glad you're still enjoying the content.
This channel is pure gold, wish you the best dude, keep up the good work!
Thanks a ton!
I'm not even actively playing SF6 lately but your content is great so I watch it anyway. Good stuff!
Thank you so much! If you don’t mind me asking, why aren’t you playing anymore? I feel like a lot of people have stopped lately

@themeager6748 got it and yeah that’s totally valid. Glad you found a game you enjoy!
@@Chris_F Thanks keep up the great content! :)
Love this so much!! Im gonna implement and finally push my Guile to Master! Thanks for the charge tip in the corner 👀
From one guile main to another, good luck! Hope it helps with the grind!
I got to masters with Jamie, and I'm sure your videos helped a lot, keep it up!
Congrats on Master! Hope these drills help you continue to improve.

Congrats on ranking up! Small improvements add up fast I’m sure you can hit gold soon
@@Chris_F Thanks. I've been trying when I can. Hopefully weekend after next, & adding this to training.
Great guide. I also have lots of troubles against people who set up a jump in and bait throws with neutral jump, is more annoying than a shimmy.
I'm tired of being stuck in the low 1600s, I'm incorporating this today!
Let me know if it helps
Wow I didn't know I could choose do nothing on block reversal to practice block strings. Man this makes it so much easier
It's a little known trick, but it's so useful!
Would you recommend pushing a button like 2mp or 2hp over like a 5hp to whiff punish since we’ll be crouching beforehand?
Depends on your character and your reactions. I can stand HP with Ryu pretty consistently
Great drills! Thanks a bunch!
You're welcome!

Glad I could help! Try fighting against lvl 7 CPU Ken bc he throws out a lot of random DI
Great video, gonna lab these tonight for sure. Any advice about labbing raw drive rush pressure, as in not cancelled from a normal?
Hmmmm do you mean practicing your execution or practicing the different uses?
@Chris_F Both really, execution and combo choice after the different responses from the opponent and also situations to use raw drive rush, when it’s less likely to get checked and options for mixups after etc. Thought it might be a good idea for a video and it’s something I don’t really use in my gameplay at the moment.
GOOD VIDEO. Super helpful!
Thanks!
Amazing video!
Thanks!
el jefe with another one ! thank you Chris!
I appreciate the support, thanks for watching!
We reaching 1800 MR with this one

Thank you so very much!! Greatly appreciated
@Tassadar4Ever sometimes I feel like I’m too thorough but I’m glad my style works for you!
Brilliant video! Thank you.
Glad you liked it!
First of all Tks for the tips and tricks. Do you have any tips or drills to improve defense?
I have many! Check from earlier when SF6 released in my video history
Sir, since you’re a guile main I would love to see guile specific videos exactly like this!
I’m working on some guile specific stuff!
@@Chris_F oh boy can't wait!
Hey great tips and vids but what about characters that does not have a meaty throw eg Chunli and Honda? Cheers!
You can set this up off of combos that end with good oki knockdowns for characters that don’t have meaty throw setups from throw
Good day to you, Chris! I am one of your students here.
Would you ever recommend doing a parry on an opponent's wake up medium kick?
No bc doing a meaty attack gives you much better reward
No drill on earth can fix my impatience. I just press buttons or move all the time. Cant crouch block on wake up too (im 1500-1600mr)
You’re right, drills won’t fix that but playing with active intent to fix your bad habit will!
first !
