  • What is retraumatisation, is it real, what is flooding, how does it occur, and what can we do about it? All of these questions I aimed to answer in this video. I also touch on a few other topics such as EMDR, CBT, and generally how therapy for trauma/ptsd works.
If you have any questions about trauma, flooding, retraumatisation, or any other concepts discussed, please leave a comment and I'll be sure to read it.

It’s like memories are MP3’s and Trauma being saved as is, is like a WAV or FLAC lossless file. This message really resonates with me as I lost my wife tragically almost 10 yrs ago and have indeed avoided the areas we frequented among other hobbies we shared to avoid the sharp vivid reliving of the tragedy.
    Thank you for this video!

I appreciate the video and I would love to go see an actual professional to work through these issues, but what are you supposed to do when you can't even afford to survive, let alone pay for a therapist? This is a genuine question. I'm at a loss.

Depending on where you live, most countries have some form of free support, some on waitlists, others available immediately. Otherwise there are some decent self-help communities and resources in the trauma space. I would recommend starting with resources for stabilisation and look into DBT distress tolerance skills and general emotional awareness and tolerance (Peter Levine's Healing Trauma is an audio book available on TH-cam, entirely free and is a good starting place for emotional awareness and tolerance).
