    I now own this particular boat thanks to this video. Thanks Nick! Very happy with it - perfect for river cruising, get 12 hours at river speeds, the silence is lovely and the roof makes life easy. Am looking into getting solar fitted. Named her “Electric Dreams”!

    This is a lovely boat. It looks good, and for most of your day trips the electric motors should give enough range. I would love to see a diesel range-extender (just a generator, providing enough power for, say, 3ktn consistantly) option though. That would make it more versitile for multiple days cruising up a river for instance. And I think would be nice to eliminate range anxiety for longer day trips.
    Some solar panels on that hydrolic roof might also be a neat idea. If you live in a sunny climate and go out on it maybe one day a week that would mean jou might not have to plug it in at all.

    • @AndrewCZ47
      @AndrewCZ47 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Maybe LPG instead of diesel. With longer range you'd want cooking and hot water, so why not run a generator off the gas bottles as well...

    I've always thought the electric river boat seemed feasible. That roof is BEGGING for some solar panels though - considering most boats sit out not being used for days at a time, it would probably charge itself for free ready for the next weekend. The roof mechanism is very clever, and I imagine could make it very usable in mildly naff weather. Very cool!

    • @bigbegad
      @bigbegad 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I thought the same thing with regards to solar panels on the roof, as long as they are lightweight then surely it would be a large enough area to generate some meaningful power.

    • @AlenMecan
      @AlenMecan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the "canopy" was enlarged to cover the entire back, you could get a lot of solar on it! Meaning you could charge lot more batteries. And before people ask about covering the sunbed, how baked do you want to get? Here in Spain, I guess 10 minutes tops. I'd rather have solar.

Getting to the ocean not going to happen for me however I'm about 30 minutes from Lake Erie, 45 minutes from Lake Huron ( the great lakes- that have excellent beaches), if this would be a perfect boat for me-very little work, a place to lay out, a place to go to the bathroom, a place to do a little cooking and if I get tired I can have a nap. For quite some time now I've had the idea of a retractable/folding roof on flybridge yachts to lower the height and cover everything. Nice to see it finally become reality, although it's on a small boat with straight down pistons. Hopefully this will become more common on all size yachts 🙂

    While many won't like it, that will be the future. Although it'll more likely be fuel-cell enabled instead of battery powered, and eventually boats will use solar/wind to separate hydrogen from the water and compress it themselves, but electric it will all be. This, along with Silent Yachts, is a wonderful step in the right direction.

Get some more powerful pods that can either spin faster or move more water to get better speed! Don't go for the power canopy and get even more room and less weight in the engine compartment.

The top speed is quite enough for those trips or to do a little fishing, or to pop into a beach in the summertime. Electrisity is cheap here, so the fuel cost is minimal, and 8 hour travel time is plenty for me. Could even bring a generator for emergencies, if we ran out of juice. Yes, absolutely a boat for me.

    Now that is a seriously cool party trick, for the security conscious that is a game changer, when you put the roof down I fell in love ❤. This is the ducks nuts, brilliant.
    Thanks for the excellent tour. Take care and stay safe. 👍👍👍🛥🛳☠🚤⛴🏴‍☠️🚢⛵⚓😎

    Electric propulsion for river boats makes so much sense, especially now that battery tech and charging infrastructure is developing in the right direction. My dad (who lives in Holland) bought an electric boat more than 10 years ago, had it custom build because there was nothing in the market. The boat builder had no idea what he was doing though. The range was just awful and he ended up switching the engine to gasoline again, just to be able to actually go somewhere. Seems like he had his idea too early.

    That hardtop seems a good place for some solar as well. Would love to see them put some renewables in this as well, if not a larger battery bank to allow for a bit more time on water. Fantastic boat overall as is though!

      Hi Chris,
      I’m glad you like the boat, I’m the UK dealer for the boats and we’ve had a lot of positive feedback. The boat is available with more batteries giving you around 10-12hrs, you can also spec the boat with solar panels and an onboard generator to increase your range should you want more.

As alway keep up the good work can’t wait for next one as we in Ireland are an lock down and it good to see your tour pop up as there only so much Netflix you can watch

    This one is more intriguing to me even than those super yachts. Electric motor is the future that more and more cars are powered by electricity. In china, the sales of Model 3 has already reached 13000 per month, which is already level-pegging with its competitors like Mecerdes C-class or Audi A4. Due to a smaller scale of market, yachts fall a bit behind cars but still, electricity would be a trend in the near future.

    8 kts? Double the speed at Cruise 20ish for top. Maintain the 8+ hour run time (looks like plenty of space for additional batteries throughout boat) and add solar panels on that snazzy retractable top and I am in.
    PS can rear deck submerge into the water and/or accommodate a jetski?
    This boat is SOOOOOO close to perfection.

    The Maritime Museum here on the Hudson River in Kingston NY has an electric ferry boat that holds about 20 people and recharges from roof panels. It can go all day and night. No shore power required. Definitely the way to go for rivers and lakes.
    BTW the Hudson here is an estuary (100 miles North of NYC) and current can get to 6 knots, both ways. Before steam, the Hudson River sloops 'tided' up and down the river if the winds did not cooperate.
