Your right, there are limits in place in the factory programing on the ECU of the Triumph Rocket 3. I picked up a 2021 Rocket 3GT last month, and if you do your research via the forums, you'll stumble across new ECU maps and methods to which you'll be able to reprogram the bike. The new ECU maps will remote the power limiters on the first three gears, and likely the top end, although I don't have a need to do over 130MPH on any of my rides, for purposes of testing, this bike can absolutely go much fast than 130. Needless to say, this bike is not short on power, anywhere.
I test rode the lastest gen Rocket three in Thailand. Top end is limited but still more than any sensible rider would need. The lowering of the centre of gravity has improved the agility and handling no end. My ride took me into the twisting mountain roads of Northern Thailand, I was impressed. The thing that won me was the effortless highway cruising , the smoothness and enough torque to pull a house down.

Aerodynamics and upper-body strength are the key Factors in sustainable cruising speed. My old XS850 could get to 130mph (210kph) with me, (1.83M, 90kg) crouched as low as humanly possible. Hanging on to a bare bike at 146 mph (236kph) is for the strong and determined. My later FJ1200 (faired) would do 130mph all day long in comfort, with very little effort; a 60kg weed could do that easily. I'd love an R3R, but I'm now old and weedy, so missed my chance. I can still listen to that glorious 'basso-profundo' of a departing one.

There has to be something limiting the top speed of this bike. My old 93 Vmax did 145 mph before it felt like the shaft drive connection right by your foot was going to explode. My 04 GSXR750 has taken me 168 mph shown on the gauge. Hell even my 95 Harley springer softail has gone 125 mph but it sure wasn’t happy about it 😝. There has to be more in that huge motor that is being held back by gearing or electronics

I had a 2003 GSXR 1000 that routinely did 150 mph and on occasion 170 mph in a very short stretch... that's 250 - 275 kph.... that was on the street... there was an on ramp to a dual lane that was slightly downhill and it was about 1500 ft to the off ramp to my house. On the occasion that I hit 170 didn't attempt to make that exit went on to the next one

you can't claim that it keeps up with the speed kings when it's only doing 236km/hr. (I say "only doing" ... it's far faster than I ride ... but it doesn't compete with the 299 km/hr speed shown on Panigales etc., ... which, we all know, the display stops increasing beyond). Still a damned sexy bike though. Just cut out the hype.

Everyone is right the bike looks very strong and power but what is the top end speed test the bike on a flat track or quarter mile will it be available in the US or other places
About 15 years ago I had a 1990 yamaha fj1200. My mate bought a rocket 3 and you couldn't shut him up, as far as he was concerned it was the faster bike ever produced. Not far from where we lived at the time there was a 10 mile long virtually straight dual carriageway and one day I told him to put up or shut up. About 8 mates came along to witness his humiliation, not only did my old fj annihilate it on acceleration but it was at least 20 mph faster on the top end aswell. To his credit he took it on the chin and didn't even try to make any excuses.
Not really, a CBR125 accelerates faster than a 40 tonne lorry. Acceleration is all about power to weight, just compare the power to weight figures for a 600cc sport bike compared to this fat monster and the reasons will be obvious. Top speed, given enough distance to build up speed, is a different matter, and is all about wind resistance. Again, the 600 sport bike will be far more slippery at high speed. But this is not what these fat muscle bikes are about anyway, they are all about presence, arm wrenching low speed torque and bragging rights. Definitely winning on those points.
All that build up for a feeble 236kph?! I've done 20 better just on a Sunday afternoon ride around Auckland City mate. And I've never heard of kmph FFS. Is there a electronic speed limiter that needs disabling on this beautiful piece of engineering?
I think I recall John Bloor’s demand, way back, to his designers to create the world’s fastest road bike. The never seen publicly prototype was so scary, that it was reputed that Bloor reckoned that there could be intervention from government. So, it was discarded……………..I’m of the opinion th😮at it wasnt. It became a ‘cruiser’. Therefore, it became nearly respectable. Now, with the “ Storm” edition, it’s morphing into its true colours. Triumph are being shrewd, with top speed limitation. If the public want something that will take off, with the addition of small wings, they’ve got it.
Geeez I'm....... Underwhelmed ! I've got a Honda VFR750 from 1988... It will top out at 230 km/h. I took it to 180 km/h about 4 months ago, and it had still way more in it... I didn't tho'. It was windy as hell

Sorry you had so much trouble. My 09 had the clutch lifter shaft break and tach stopped working with 1 in warranty and the last 1 out of warranty but both paid for by Triumph. Paint was good on mine. Fork seals go from wheeling the heavy beast which can be unintentional but happens. Mine were ok but I tried hard to keep the front end on the ground. No other trouble and had a great dealer /owner that was also a great mechanic. Fun bike .
@@HighGear7445 in my eyes a engine rebuild at 14,000 miles is a recall it's not acceptable with all those staff could rectify it but it has to be large numbers reported. All the parts are stupid expensive. The paint was flaking under engine the forks were all frosted . So much was terrible apart from the ego and traction
@@urbanwarior3134 what year was yours mine was a 09. 14k and needing a rebuild is terrible

Agreed
They've put together a supercharger kit for this Rocket in the UK, now. Basically doubles the power or some such.
Yikes: why?
an engine that size and it only goes 146mph? It must be heavily restricted.
It should reach close to 180-200 mph if it’s breathing freely. Must have a speed limiter or something similar.
@@markflitz1772 yeah I reckon it's probably not very stable higher than 150, it's got no fairing so it would snap your neck back anyway. Probably just as well. It's for posing anyway. lol
It has no aerodynamics at all though..
No, its Always between tourqe and Speed. This is manly Made for tourqe Like all Cruisers. And its also not needed, its more of a showbike. No one goes 220kph with that Bike in normal trafic, wht its Made for.
Also, it depnds how the engine settings are Made, Sure U can let this Thing goe 300+ but its the Same Like the American Cars 5-8l engine and doesent goe 300
@@hologponar9137 Captain obvious is obvious
3 beasts are rocking like universal boss....
The trophy 1200 when it first came out in 1991 could do 170 mph since then triumph have dumped down the top end on all their bikes to please the eu who wanted all bike restricted
Was expecting a bit more. My 2015 R1200GS adventure once maxed out at 238 on the speedo which turned out to be 225 on the GPS
Had the 1985 Yamaha V Max and it was a rocket !
I've got a 1985 vmax, and, yes, it is a rocket 😜
85 Max was a serial killer
It's stunning looking and one of my favourite bikes but for a 2.5ltr I would expect more power. My Yamaha MT10 which is 1000cc kicks out 158 bhp and will do 165 mph. It's shit scary fast to be honest.
The engine just needs tuning, and possibly a turbo fitted, one engineering firm were trying to fit a supercharger.
@@kevinbarnbrook4728 you can now buy a supercharger for the rocker 3
@@woodster66 That's good to know that they have finally delt with size issue of the engine to fit a supercharger, and that superchargers are being manufactured to fit this engine, the vid I watched a few years ago, about an engineering company trying to cope with size of the engine to fit a supercharger, without it hampering the steering and control of the motorcycle.
Wounder how rocket3 would compare to the Miliard 6cylinder both bike's have 2.500cc INTERESTING?
what backpack is that ? where can i get it ?
thank you., great video.
what a beast of motorcycle very good street bike from triumph company.
Diavel V4 enters the chat
Sheesh ! I might buy one of these my WLA 1949 Canadian Harley did an amazing 39 MPH last year whoosh that was fast the sidecar just about took off

I had a rocket 3 it's a great ride not like anything else you will ever drive
Won't be doing these fast top end speeds for long though, sure the bike can do them no problem, completely physically draining for the rider..
Horsepower and torque aside.
R3 Generates more HOLY SHIT!!!
Everyone who reviewed it early on either said “Holy shit” or “Fooking hell!” When they rolled on the throttle. It just pulls FOREVER.
Most underrated TH-camr with high level of knowledge ⚡😭
Amazing channel
👍 keep up the good work
Not much of a rocket more like a Hummer of a motorbike. Still with such a large engine plenty of crazy tuning potential.
I have ridden one, they are surprisingly easy to drive. It does not feel anywhere as big as it looks.
Why they hell are they wearing back packs going that fast? They trying to create as much drag as possible or are they trying to make the rider fly off?
They are wearing parachutes just in case they have to eject 😂. But it can also provide back protection.
@@rocket3man371 eject from a motorcycle 3 feet off the ground? That makes no sense. If they open a parachute that close to the ground go that fast it will literally slam them into the ground.
@@adamcrux6829 it was a joke bro LMAO! I ride too I know!
That is an extra fuel tank :P
I am strangely attracted to this bike.
180 kph ? my GSXR1000 does 299 kph on the speedo and stops at that, but, the rev counter keeps on rising, and it doesn't weigh as much as the titanic. i do like the Rocket though and would love to ride one !!
the most powerfull crusier with best accelaration and top speed is the V-max 1700.
Did you know it's one man's job to repaint the white lines at this test track. He does it by hand with a 2inch paint brush and it takes him two years then he starts again. Bit like the fourth bridge. Job for life. He says it's the best job in the world. The scenery is amazing he said..
I love the colour trim, is this custom finish?
Love that indian Auto Videos competing like international standerds
Love from Nepal 🇳🇵 ❤️
It means its almost able to keep up with a 600 inline four sport on a straight track.
so the rocket made it to a converted 146 mph??? thats its top speed??? WOW, its slower than my 2005 636 ninja!!
My old 2005 ZX636R showed 175mph on the speedo.
I'm sure it's electronically governed.
Yup rev limited on two top gears, first three gears limited to 70% throttle WOT max leaving only fourth open, I ride mine a lot in fourth 😉 looking to get a gen 1 vmax, the poster bike that made me want to ride in the early 90s, 😎 ride safe brother
They made a motorcycle that rides like a freight train lol
It's called aerodynamics.it's a bit of a brick.
"How fast does the Triumph Rocket3r go, LEGALLY!"

the speed limit. )
There is no limit on that track duh
@@ekimandersom4478 duh, really ?
Why do you ride top speed test with backpacks on?
New a fella a few years back had one heavily modified and superchargered it
at the time it was pushing 300 bhp
What the hell...
Comfortably cruise at 180 all day? Not on a naked bike. Or are you calling a couple of hours all day. This is obviously a PAID COMMERCIAL.
I remember triumphs return and people were saying things like..they won't be as good as the original machines. They can't make good bikes there. Exactly what is being said about China now.
Well..... feck me. That's fast.
Cheers from my Speed Triple to his bigger brother - The Rocket 3.
I had a '92 750 Trident that did 125 with my lardy ass on it! So I'm sure this beast will go a lot faster, given the opportunity!
Love from jharkhand 💙
First view
I wasn't impressed one tiny bit by this bikumentary. My 60's 750 Trident was the balls (except for that crappy oil pump) .
ok boomer
you can't claim that it keeps up with the speed kings when it's only doing 236km/hr. (I say "only doing" ... it's far faster than I ride ... but it doesn't compete with the 299 km/hr speed shown on Panigales etc., ... which, we all know, the display stops increasing beyond). Still a damned sexy bike though. Just cut out the hype.
What ever the speed limit is, thats how fast LEGALLY you can go
So?

"the largest motorcycle production engine" aaaaah BOSS HOSS
That is not an actual motorcycle. They don't handle well at all. A Honda 350 will outrun one on a mountain road. Apparently you don't know much about MOTORCYCLES.
Also this isn't a motorcycle engine, it is a car engine. Dumb***
Can't deal with those ridiculous headlights.

To me I will enjoy it's sound and looks that's it, heat? I can't take it man
Surely you don't buy this bike for top speed? It's about the torque!!
I still dont see the practical point why I would buy it.
It is an expensive overkill.
The design is nice, the powerplant is strong.
So aging western males have the option to pose in front of twenty -thirty years younger mail order russian females.
Or so they imagine.
Nice vid. How about a Rocket vs Diavel comparison ??
Everyone is right the bike looks very strong and power but what is the top end speed test the bike on a flat track or quarter mile will it be available in the US or other places
What clothing are you using, looks very protective?
Here in NZ legally it goes 100kph.
wow, thats the only piece of road in india without potholes ive seen
Feels like a big bike,… until a Boss Hoss pulls up next to it.
Just being a smart ass. Rockets are awesome!
Strange how a 600cc supersport is faster and accelerates quicker than this 2500cc bike.
To be fair the power and torque figures are bad for a 2.5 litre engine even most 2 litre car engines make more horsepower.
@@jonm7272 not really, my mate has a 1988 VMAX, half the capacity of the rocket 3 and almost as heavy but faster acceleration and top end.?
Don't care, I love the unique look and sound of this monster cruiser!
I have seen a 300 HP turbo Rocket in Australia.
Lol what was the deal with the naked guy jumping up and down?
Geeez I'm....... Underwhelmed !
I've got a Honda VFR750 from 1988... It will top out at 230 km/h.
I took it to 180 km/h about 4 months ago, and it had still way more in it... I didn't tho'.
It was windy as hell
They should be comparing this to the Yamaha V Max thats a rocket ship cruiser
Which is 138.6 MPH for those of us who don't understand KPH
Turn the music down eight notches and this would be a great vid.
At the Brazil, the guys go to 310km/h in a highway
there are bikes in the TT Races on the Isle of Man doing over 200mph (not kph).
True, but they're not wearing license plates.
Ye effing gods. I feel like quipping about, does it come with a flushing toilet? but I’m not going to. This why aliens want nothing to do with us.
146mph? vs H2? Apples and oranges, surely?
The exhaust pipes are bit scrached.....right foot is on heat all the time......
😂😂😂 wtf was that mankini up down?!?? Main character much
Never heard of the BOSS Motorcycle company have you….
*mass production motorcycle. And i have ridden the Boss Hoss quite a bit. The video is there on my channel.
It has an unfortunately low electronic speed limit of ~142 MPH on mine, that I've hit on several occasions. There is a way to remove that now.
How it can be removed ?
ECU flash I guess. Not a big deal but illegal. Which is not much of a prob as long as you don't run into an accident or so.
Awsome bike i would love to have one in my garage that triumph is a wet Dream.
How fast does it go LEGALLY?
Well in the UK that would be 70mph…
Legally the national speed limit for a motorway…
