I like how he's constantly complaining about the button configuration and everytime he accidentally opens the pause menu he doesn't see the option "BUTTON CONFIGURATION".

I beat Megaman 1 a couple years ago using the pause trick, but somehow felt dirty for winning like that. I finally got around to playing it again today and beat it without the pause trick. Feels so much more rewarding.
how do u beat the orange devil/yellow whatever without the pause trick, plasma? or do u use one of the boss powers? (elect, ice man etc?)
I'm not a fan of the pause glitch so I never use it, I prefer to play the game the legit way.

Complains that the select button isn't pause. Hits select button that brings up the screen that lets him remap the buttons. Instead of changing the buttons, closes the screen and complains about the buttons again.
I don't know, this was pretty painful to watch.

That Yellow Devil is a cakewalk for me. I never used that glitch code. In fact, I beat the game without realizing it existed. I wouldn't have used it anyway. Where's the fun in that?

I like these streams but Mike needs to not do them alone. The pauses for checking the chat are kind of irritating, and he gets distracted when he does it (hence his not switching from Magnet Beam back to the blaster).

I guess mike isn't very experienced at Doom. Not strafing, doesn't have auto run on, turn sensitivity is really low, and he isn't playing on ultra-violence.(the only way to play imo)

I'm sure "P" means *Player*. In old 2-player games, "P1" and "P2" would often appear next to the score or health bar. In a single player game, it's "P" and in this case it's next to your health bar. Since your default weapon has unlimited energy and since you don't have anything else in your inventory when you start out, the "P" also acts as the default weapon selector. It's just strange legacy Capcom style. This is only my opinion, but it makes sense. I always had a feeling this was the reason, and I called the default weapon the "regular shot"; nothing to do with "P".

What's the fun of playing games with cheats? I didn't expect this from Mike. Especially in a classic game like this one (Mega Man).

I like these live streams, but I stopped watching this one after you kept abusing the pause trick. I find it ironic to say how MegaMan does not hold your hand and letting you figure out how to do things in part 1 of this stream, but yet rather than than actually beat the bosses by figuring out the actual mechanics, you just abuse a glitch. Just reminds me of modern gaming where there's almost always an easy way out.
A trick with the robot dude, theres two times you gotta jump over the two blocks by moving forward with your jump. Once you get that the pattern is easy... well easier haha. Cheers
Mike, why don't you just remap the buttons? There's a button configuration in the menu. Put the pause wherever you want it (I guess).

It was kind of a bummer that you used the glitch! I was really looking forward to watching this as well! It's so much more rewarding to beat this game without that glitch and would've made for a lot more entertaining episode as well I think!

I know this is an old live stream but in case you read this on wily stage 3 boss notice how the little light and the life meter changes each time a the boss appears? I think you are supposed to use different weapons to match that. It's funny the things you notice when you are watching instead of playing. I beat the game years ago and never noticed until now.
Hey Mike, if you set up your gamepad/contoller in Doom 3 it works for Doom 1 and 2 also. Works and plays great!
i was playing this once on a emulator for NES. the 3rd wily stage. I was at the boss, and i got against the shutter door to shoot the boss, and it opened and i got teleported back into the room before the shutter opens for the boss, the boss was all distorted and messed up but i still beat him, i had to chase him around though. LOL
I always thought P stands for plasma gun. But obviously it's a person gun, shooting ... persons.

i'm playing the Xbox version but you can change the controls to whatever you like to make it like the NES so maybe you can do the same for the steam version

Hey Mike, have you ever tried playing DOOM with both the keyboard and mouse? It's the way it's meant to be played. Let me explain:you use ASDW keys to move forward, backward and strafe left to right.you use the mouse to turn and aim, which, as you can imagine, gives you a lot of control. You can turn around instantly and yet have pin point accuracy.I can see using a mouse on the coach might be awkward, though.

doc hendrix Maybe Mike was going for the "authentic" experience by insisting on playing on the keyboard (with no mouse), but the 4K resolution, native widescreen support, and surround sound presentation of BFG Doom II throws the authenticity out the window.

is it just me, or did they change the sound of the super shotgun for this version? (from the original PC version)
EDIT: I realize now that all the sounds have randomized pitches, but I still don't understand why the super shotgun has a completely different reload sound effect.

I just beat Mega Man I and I thought the end was very difficult because they let you fight all the bosses without giving you anything. Without the pause trick it's almost impossible. I wonder if they designed it so you'd have to use the pause trick, which would be weird, because if you use it the bosses are fairly easy to beat and without it it's a nightmare.
It really isn't that hard once you figure out what to do in each boss...I just beat the game without using the pause trick (even once!) myself.
Has there ever been a Megaman game where using a Robot Masters own weapon against it was optimal?
For sure, in particular Metal Man in MM2, who dies in 2 hits to his own weapon

Beating games with cheats feels rewarding to you? If not, why bother playing them? That run was so cheap that nobody believes you have ever beaten the game legitimate way.

Ugh keyboard to aim, such a noob. Mouse is much better. Left & right to strafe. Circle Strafing FTW,
Hercule S Mouse and keyboard is only really necessary against other players. You can still sprint and strafe and with the KB and Doomguy moves so damn fast you dont really need to be precise. There really isn't a single encounter you need circle strafing for even on nightmare with respawning enemies. Death matches get insane though. Kb/mouse is not optional for those.
