    I'm coming from SolidWorks with 15 Years of Experience and I've also been using Blender for several years now (for the tasks that were impossible in SW). Now I have to admit that this CAD Sketcher Addon (along with the tutorials from the awesome Blender community) is pure GOLD. Of course, CAD is not only about sketching, it needs robust cross-part referencing, static and dynamic mating, data management, etc etc... But still, this is becoming a game changer and I'd like to see it grow into maturity - the 'big CAD players' are sooo annoyingly restrictive and expensive. For example, I can't even have two different Versions of SolidWorks on the same OS!! (which MUST be Microsoft Windows 10 at least). Seriously? Blender, however, doesn't give a **** and I love it for that.

    Just wanted to say - with your videos + the jewelcraft addon, I was able to make 3D resin prints to use in a lost wax casting for an engagement ring and wedding ring for my now wife. The rings turned out amazing, and its your videos that really made me believe it was possible. Thanks so much!

    I've been struggling to learn any cad program out there, and not really sure which program to go with. Your videos sealed the deal for me for blender. The other programs out there may suit my needs better but there are no good tutorials for any of them that I've found. You do a great job explaining every single step and it's mind blowing how well you do it. Thanks for the content!

    Very cool workflow! For the Merge By Distance, if you want that operation in your original object, nondestructively, don't forget you can make that a modifier via Geometry nodes.

    oh my gosh, this is everything I've wanted.
    I'm primarily a B3D guy, but 3D printing means good dimensioning and I use fusion 360 for that, but it's a pain for everything else - I've tried a few janky addons but having CAD-like numbers and sketching right there natively saves so much time and annoyance

    I really like what Cad sketcher is becoming. I've been creating 3D printable objects in blender for around a year now, infact ive learned a bunch from your channel. Its been such a struggle to get measurements precise in blender. Lately to counter this ive been learning freecad using the RealThunder FreeCad fork, so learning that has helped me instantly understand how Cad sketcher works, so this is extremely cool. However some of the short cut combinations you were using, (even you you're self are having issues remembering them all). I hope that most of these will have their own dedicated buttons at some point. Until then I have no problem using some sticky notes stuck to my monitor with all the shortcuts. :)

      From what I'm aware they all have buttons apart from the selection ones. I'm just a bit of a shortcut fiend 😅

    The Bool Tool is one of the best addons in Blender. I usually parent the cutters to the main mesh that way if i transform the mesh, the cutters follow.

    I always have a problem with the trim tool, most of the time it doesn't work at all, probably should check for updates. I also don't worry about applying modifiers, you can set that to automatically apply them when you export stl files. Thanks for the work you do it's appreciated here.

    Im struggling with creating 3d parts that can be assembled with snap fitting, screw, dovetail...joints. I dont see any tutorials on your page regarding these. Can you please make a video on creating snap fitting parts for 3d print including how to create the clearance between the parts to make sure they actually fit without having to sand them to make them fit together?

    • @DG-hw5zy
      @DG-hw5zy 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      you will find more tutorials to design assemblies with mated surfaces for 3D CAD packages.
      personally I use FreeCAD but any 3D CAD might work. Here are a couple relevant tutorials. Good luck!
      joko engineering
      th-cam.com/video/sA9K3N-WiN0/w-d-xo.html
      mango jelly - if you so desire
      th-cam.com/video/_GFoU0SIVG4/w-d-xo.html
      PS the quality of the 3d printer plays a huge part in the part quality, not just the 3d model. we printed up a batch of mating covers that were designed in catia. they still required extensive sanding, cutting and epoxy touchups. one or two out of 50 got scrapped because they were a couple mm off. it's not easy and takes a lot of iteration. that's why everyone I know in manufacturing uses CAD not mesh modeling...

Seem like the dog chasin their tail. The promise is trumpeted until it isn't leaving people wondering if it is worth going down another rabbit hole that might be a dead end.

    from build123d import *
    with BuildPart() as p:
    with BuildSketch() as s:
    Circle(36/2)
    Rectangle(36+3+3,3)
    orig = s.sketch.faces()[0]
    offset(amount=2,kind=Kind.INTERSECTION)
    with BuildLine() as l:
    m2 = Line((0,23),(19/2,23))
    m3 = JernArc(m2@1,(0,-1),11,45)
    m4 = mirror(about=Plane.YZ)
    m5 = Line(m3@1,m4@1)
    make_face()
    add(orig,mode=Mode.SUBTRACT)
    extrude(amount=30)
    with BuildSketch(Plane.XZ) as s2:
    with Locations((0,10.5+4)):
    SlotOverall(8+15,15,rotation=90)
    extrude(amount=30,mode=Mode.SUBTRACT)
    with Locations(Plane.XZ.offset(-37/2)):
    with Locations((0,15+5),(0,15-5)):

    CAD sketcher's manifolds painful fixing is the main reason you should switch to onShape despite its steep learning curve. You'd then appreciate the waste of time you spare vs using CAD sketcher.

    • @novmikvis
      @novmikvis ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The problem with onshape is the possibility of a rug-pull at any time (see Thomas Sanladerer video). Why invest time in a tool that could be sunset for any reason, when you can learn to work around blender quirks and have the working workflow forever.

      I hope Ton R eventually accepts the CAD community. Now that UEFN is unleashed there will be a huge surge of people leaving Blender and jumping ship to Unreal - especially as Unreal's modeling tools evolve. Blender needs users of all shapes and sizes.
