Onewheel S-Series Rally Edition: The Best Trail Board Ever?
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 27 มิ.ย. 2024
- Introducing the new GT S-Series with Recurve Rail and the new GT S-Series Rally Edition. Join Jack, Kyle and Factory Team riders Austen and Mercedes Silva as they discuss the development behind the rail geometry for the new Recurve Rails. The team spent months to achieve the ideal asymmetric rail geometry to give riders more leverage and better handling without sacrificing clearance, or stance comfort and flexibility. We would CNC a set of rails, test ride, make tiny adjustments and continue the process until we landed at the Recurve Rails we're releasing today. They are unbelievable on trail, we know you will enjoy!
Recurve Rails will be available as an option on S-Series boards and on the new Rally Edition, which also comes with the 6" motor hub installed stock from the Factory.
Lastly, now that S-Series is in mass production and we're not shipping parts next-day-air to fulfill orders on time (we've been known to go to such lengths) we've achieved some cost savings and we're happy to pass it along to riders. Going forward, the base model S-Series will be $2,900, a $300 cost reduction. It's always been an amazing deal for the riding experience, and now it just got a little sweeter.

I feel like this would have been a great opportunity to allow people the ability to level the board the way they want. Even in the video we accept that other types of rails exist and yet we are still locked out from adjusting this on our own. I think its great that you guys are making these new additions. Youre offering new rails at a pretty competitive price. Lets keep the momentum going. Lets keep the stoke rolling. Letting the riders adjust this on their own would be a real game changer...
They have been doing so many things right recently. And it makes this all the more frustrating that they dropped the ball like this. Pretty anti-competitive of them.
@@Notlocllewopso true brother… very disappointed in FutureMotion. When I first started the video I was stoked… now here I wait still for releveling…
@@Notlocllewop I completely agree. I really want to support them. I want to be able to defend them and promote the product. Lately I feel like I'm telling more people about what I can't do with my GT rather than the things I can do. It's stuff like this that I feel like really draws the line of you have been heard but also ignored...
Appreciate the comment. We’ve been JAMMING on a lot of new things (and have some more) so that has not been a top priority. Always open to thoughts and ideas. Agreed, lets keep the stoke rolling!
@@Onewheel it’s a top priority for us
+1 for supporting auto-leveling for self-install of non-straight rails. Y'all are making great strides in earning back the trust of the community in recent months, please please keep that momentum going and answer the requests seen on every recent onewheel video for board leveling.
They have not done that or agreed to do it. They offer it only for their re-curve rails as a service.
Let us re-level our board please!!! Besides being a bummer that I just paid 3200 a week ago for my S Series I love the look. I would really appreciate being able to re level my GT though.
The Humble Savage has a video on youtube on how to level your board using an app.
I love what you guys have been up to! Thank you! When we have the ability to adjust our boards level at home, I’ll gladly purchase these rails. Cheers!
I am excited to see this but the biggest miss here is not selling the rails separate and updating the app to allow for adding them. I want to re-level my board as bad as the next person and I still hope they add that feature, but as interested as I am in these rails, to send my board away during peak season for a rail install I could do at home in 30 minutes is..... a hard choice to make. That's 10-12 days without my Onewheel for me if the turn around is 1 day. I dunno.
Yea we hear that. The challenge is that the rails are serialized so they are the ‘identity’ of the board. It’s how we track warranty, repairs, ect. which is why it’s currently offered as a service so we can re-serialize.
@@Onewheel Sweet 6-12mo warranty preventing this for the life of the board.
@@Onewheelit would seem that we could level through the app by inputting the new rail serial number to “unlock” the re-level and have it register the new rail an to the board when we did it. Or, we could just use the original SN for warranty with the new rails if it’s written to the controller and get blank rails we can install. We would all have our old rails with the SN on them for reference. I really don’t want to give up my old rails. It would be sweet to switch between them when we wanted. 😁
@@Onewheelwould it be possible down the road to have certified one wheel shops do them. I believe we just got one in our town.
@@Onewheel customer suggestion for future customer flow :) it's pretty easy to get out of warranty like time or miles. so maybe in the onewheel owners portal when ordering the rails have the owner acknowledge that their board is out of warranty and then require them to send in the old rails to get the new rails and it can still be self-install. saves on shipping costs since it's just shipping the rails vs a round-tirp of the whole board. And have the app be able to relevel to board. 🤙
Awesome! Im secretly hoping next we will get digi-tilt, more range and power for gt-s, flared footpads that come stock, carbon fiber hybrid fender and hopefully suspension!
Bro just let us by the rails they aren’t hard to put on nor are they difficult to take off why would I send it back and pay shipping on top of that $450 might as well just buy float life rails
You cannot properly re-level WTF unless your running old firmware or VESC.
@@benlay750 That is something FM could fix very easy.
I'm a fan and a supporter, I love everything you guys are doing, but I think not letting us re-level our own boards and install the rails on our own is a miss. I won't be buying any rails until I can level my own board properly at my leisure. Hopefully this gets reconsidered in the future. Still stoked on the new things you guys are doing and excited for everything coming next!
THanks for the comment, we hear ya
@@Onewheel sure doing a lot of listening today
@@OnewheelYou keep saying “We hear ya,” but you really don’t, and that’s the thing. Love for you to prove us wrong, though. 🤷🏻♂️
We called in some of our paid team riders and asked them, "What idea should we steal this time?"
These riders literally came from us(we the community) who improved their skills to race level and then joined Onewheel to help improve the race board. Good stuff happening there!
So why are we sending our boards in for someone that we should be able to purchase and install ourselves again? I think y’all left that part out
asked the same question like 👀 ⏳️
convenient huh
Hopefully they are reading this and understand how important this is to their customers. We are paying for the boards, let us customize them like we actually own them. I just want to buy their rails and install them at home. So wants to be without their board for weeks when they don’t have to?
Because you could put these on GTs. They only want them on GT S series.
I just want to add on, I love what y'all have been doing for the community recently, and would be stoked if board re-leveling was a top priority!
That sucks that you have to send your board to get the rails changed
I think the fact that we would have to send our board all the way back is a big turn off just buy some float life rails. They are just as good if not better or get some mustache rails mustache rails are pretty much the same thing as that.
@@Grace_580 you can’t level them with the new firmware though.
@@skoolynugenator1802 why do you need releveling when you have gradient track
I’m sorry but $3500 is kind of insane. 😮
LOL I feel bad for the international GTS owners out there, going to cost a pretty penny more than $450.
Wish you would allow people to re-level our own boards. It would be sick to put ANY rail you want on your board. Not just stealing IP from the 3rd party market and putting it behind your FM paywall.
What about international customers that alreeady have straight rails?
So you're not enabling tilt control for end users, we have to ship the board into you to do it?
I just bought myself a pint X for my birthday in July and it comes in today. I’m so excited to try it out after work!
WELCOME TO THE FAM!!
You know that to change a tire (which you sell), to change out the entire hub (which you also sell), or doing any number of other repairs/upgrades that you are finally supporting (and thanks for that, truly!), people have to remove and reinstall the rails, right…?
So it’s obvious people are capable of this.
So why does swapping out the rails have to be a send-in service?
The answer is also obvious: you don’t want us to have (back) the ability to re-level our own boards unless it’s paired with a purchase of your rails. Really, really lame sauce, dudes.
Heck, I might even buy a pair if I had that ability. I like to swap, try out different rails for different conditions. But until you’re willing to make that part of the process easy again, it’s a no from me, dog.
It's just so telling that they are still fighting this. That's the issue. They aren't doing these things because the community and Pro Team want them, they are doing them because it's legally required. Show us you actually care, FM.
Re-leveling would have been released WITH these rails if foresight and the actual desire to make these changes was involved. Of course they'll continue to keep that under lock and key as long as possible, as well as keep us from seeing our individual cell voltages. Those are really the keys to FM's intent alone: Voltages and Re-level.
just listen to the community, PLEASE let us relevel our boards, you guys have been great about adding app features, so why not ad it!
They listen to the community so they can recreate the most loved 3rd party products, and call it "innovation" for the next 3 years.
We hear ya
@@Onewheel you hear us? But no deal for those of us your company scammed with a $3,200 GTS a couple of weeks ago when you knew an updated one was coming? Not even a reduced price upgrade? You guys are scumbags.
@@mikepass8981Product transitions are tough. Grow up, dude.
@Onewheel is there a reason you do not want the community to level their rails? Seems pretty straightforward that the entire community is asking for it. Would love to hear your thoughts.
There’s no $$$ in it for them to give us this feature. It seems to be the only thing they care about.
This board looks to be level with a 3-3.5 degree in the front. Sounds like standard WTF rails or even tech-rails 357’s would function nicely with this particular controller.
Hey guys this is a good option but surely you need to let everyone level their boards it's crazy how we have to send it back to you. We should have the option to digitally level our own boards.
Can we please have the ability to re-level our boards from home? 🙏
They hadn't heard about this issue until today. But they "hear ya" now
@Onewheel couldn't you just send the rails out instead of consumers having to ship their boards back have them call support with board ID and let them relevel the board through software and support? 👏 on everything you've been doing and trying to improve and impact the community.❤🤙
So basically you’re just hiding digi tilt behind a $450 pay wall???????
Always thinking how to make more money while still screwing us.
@@English-J a for profit business that does what it can to maximize profit? That reminds me of the time when TFL came out with WTF for XR and made you pay an additional 250 for a piece of plastic that leveled the controller instead of including it with the rails….
When can we level our own boards
👀
Whenever they get around to it it seems. If you read other comments they replied to they constantly say it's not a priority.
Allowing us to level our own boards doesn’t make them any $$$. So it’s not a priority.
The onewheel pro rider team is a making such a big difference. Please keep listening to them and give them the freedom to speak open and honest. Only good can come from listening to the riders.
Yea absolutely. It’s been awesome to see the squad working together on a bunch of cool new gear. More to come!
Need to offer the curved rails separately for purchase on your website for the DIY’s out here. Great move in the right direction pushing this sport forward!
Thanks for the note, chipping away :)
They can't without giving users the ability to relevel the board. But please understand that this is only the first time @Onewheel is hearing this issue they created.
@@hoboman444 no they know about it they just don’t want to give away their power and control. Vesc for me
I love hearing all the little parts that go into making a product a reality. Austin’s way of telling us the reason why the angle is the way it its on the rails is so good. Can’t wait till I get a chance to ride. They seem like the right way to go. Rally all the way.
Thanks for allowing me to re-level my 4209 XR, excited to try some new rails! 💯
What about UK customers, is this going to be a service provided by your suppliers here?
Are you going to be able to offer the hub upgrade at the same time?
PLEASE OFFER THE TRADE IN PROGRAM AGAIN . WITH THE NEW RAILS AND 6" HUB IT'S ACTUALLY WORTH DOING. THANKS!
This is a huge leap forward!! 🤩👏🔥 Thanks for making it happen!! 🙏
I do agree with other folks in that opening up digital tilt in the app would make this even sweeter and would solve the loudest complaint right now, but I get that there are more challenges to solve to make that happen. Hopefully in the future! 🙌

Greetings from Germany
I ordered the Onewheel Performance Tire from a German dealer back in December 2023 and unfortunately have not received it to date, stating that Future Motion would not ship the tires.
Does the market outside the USA mean so little to Future Motion or why is that?
I would be very pleased to receive an answer, I have been an enthusiastic Onewheel driver for three years and have an XR & GT and have already infected many with my enthusiasm for this vehicle.
Best regards
Daniel
Let us level our out boards with our own rails!
Hows the rails ride setup on the original Gt-s hub if we opt for the 450 upgrade service, i assume your not throwing in the 6” hub, or making the rails available separately. Im sure a lot of people are going to be in this boat. (I only ride trail on stock 3 gts’s)
Still get the handling benefits of the rail but miss out on extra absorption of the smaller motor
As a casual rider I'm confused about the 6" hub. I thought the GT-S already had a 6.5" hub, are they making it smaller?
For the first time I regret being an early onewheel adopter. The S series should have started with the Rally Edition.
I get a little of the same feeling. But this just makes me more excited to get my next board.
Can the Onewheel S series Recurve rails be installed on a GT?
I think you’re on the right track here! In Canada we don’t want to be shipping our boards back for some rails so I hope the future looks bright 😉
Let us level our own rails! Please! And come out with a long range version of the GT-S.
I guarantee it’s coming. An adventure edition or something. So stoked. Now I can happily wait with my mostly stock gt. Future is rad
weighing in at just under 50lbs 😂 i’d be cool with it tho
This is awesome hopefully the rails can be done by official onewheel shops so we don’t have to spend them in !
"After much arm twisting" 😂 Thank God for the factory team! This is your best work yet. Keep listening to them.
We figured if you want the Recurve Rails you also probably want the 6" hub
@@Onewheel no doubt! Y'all are making huge moves in the right direction. Stoked to be a rider. 😎👊
@@Onewheel why can't you figure out to just let us relevel our boards? Really send our boards in just to have rails installed when it's a simple job!
@@andrewavery8040one of the factory team riders is claiming on facebook that the CPSC and lawsuits cause this. 🧂
@@Onewheel Do you figure we would want to install ourselves and not lose our property for weeks?
Will these be available as a part or do we HAVE to mail in our board and have them installed by FM? I'm interested in getting a set but have zero interest in sending my board in and sacrificing my standard rails.
What about your international customers?
You would think it would be much easier to come out with self leveling instead of making people ship there boards… that way you can make way more money because you can still charge 450$
This is a big move and something I have been waiting for you guys to do since the S Series launched. A dialed in set of rails dedicated for trail riding! I’m still super hyped for this, but damn I feel like it’s a missed opportunity that you didn’t build a controller recalibration widget inside the app and a slick tutorial, like you guys do, with one of your pro riders on how to recalibrate your board properly. That would have easily been a massive W for you and for all of us aftermarket rail owners and for those of us that want to buy your first party rails and give them a shot ourselves. The competitive pricing is fantastic, but locking it behind a service doesn’t feel too great. Idk, my two cents anyway. Y’all are moving in the right direction and I love to see it. 🤙🏻
we Wish they would
I think it's especially a letdown for international customers who not going to send their boards in from the other side of the world. I would have expected the same provided parts and service your own instead of forced service.
Apreciate the comment, we hear ya.
A good way to circumvent this would be to sell a "re-calibration code" that when redeemed unlocks a new option in the app for international customers. Small fee in the form of a GTS rally edition board is enough ;)
@@Onewheel thanks for taking the time to read my comment and respond. Any of my criticisms comes from a place of passion. My OneWheel changed my life.
If we purchase the rail upgrade service do you ship it back with the mini fender deletes on it? And if I already have the GT hybrid fender, will it attach to the mini fender deletes?
You guys are amazing! And have never givin me bad advice. When Neil says 40/50 increase in stompage! I’m sold. Can’t wait to shred these. Dude no fatigue back leg I feel that bigtime. Congrats you guys on helping us become better onewheelers.
Does this mean we can recalibrate now?
Nice job FM. Are these rails CNCed?
Also, let us relevel our boards please
Wait refurbish program is for rails only? What about the 6 inch hub? Can we trade up for that too?
A service for rails? …..this is so counter intuitive. I love you guys, but you literally just released a video of a battery replacement product that requires the removal of rails and now you want us to send boards back for rail replacements if you want the new rails?….love that you are going in the direction of rails, but can’t you see the issue with that? I know it all comes down to “not releasing a digitilt software piece” , but if you allowed for consumer controlled digitilt to happen at home with the consumer, i would think you would make more sales on the rails. To me, tilted rails require a way to adjust for the tilt at home with the consumer. It’s not worth the idea of shipping my board back and forth just for rails. Love you all, but this approach needs some adjustments.
this.
Rail swaps are simple
Yes! I'm all for Onwheel requiring us to send in the straight wheel to get the reserialized recurved rails and then having a tutorial/widget to relevel on the app. Alot better process then sending in the whole board.
Not shipping rails by themselves is a massive L.
I was probably one of the first ones (if not the first) to receive and ride a GT-S in Brazil. Have bought it right on the announcement. Would like to upgrade it, but I suppose it is not feasible with all the logistics required and lack of support locally.
You can do the 6” motor hub upgrade or order batteries or controllers. The rails are serialized so it’s the identity of the board which is why that’s a service and not sold separately at the moment.
@@Onewheel When does OneWheel lose the trademark and become like a Skateboard/Snowboard/Actual boardsport where everything is serviceable?
How long is the refurbish program going on for? I would love to hold out to the winter and do exactly that.
...and when slick tire factory option for all the street rippers out there??
Such b.s. you won't just let people relevel their own board!
What's the benefit of the 6" hub on the rally edition vs the gt-s recurve?
I haven't experimented with boards beyond my mostly stock XR, so I'm pretty out of the loop.
Ah, the 6" hub gives you a bit more tire volume which dampens vibration off-road and makes it a little easier to go over rocks or roots. I'd say if you're considering the Recurve Rails, I'd just send it and get the Rally Edition
Even they know the factory service is trash

Lol they keep your old rails when you send it in for the recurves
You should think about carving footpads! That's the next main Goal! Try to build them so they can give a slight angle when pushing the onewheel on the turns... Imagine your foot instead of being always horizontal flat it lifts a little on the heel or on your toes when pushing a turn. It will definitely give you more stability and more control turning... and of course more style riding it, with beautiful snaps on the dirt! :) I have a XR and I love it!
