No warning, No Delay just instant. However in 40k the Necrons who own it realise not to do anything with it incase any ramifications head their way down the line (chain reaction/butterfly effect fears).

Nobody should compare it with other scifi because the 40k universe is one where the worth of a single life is in the negative because of how many people exist and die each day. For example in the imperial guard (human faction), you are more likely as an average soldier to help the war effort by absorbing as many rounds as you can instead of the similarly inconsequential deeds you may commit on a single battlefront.
You know, for a bunch of magical bloodthirsty murderer I'm amazed none of them ever tried using the force to control like 10+ blasters at the same time, turn themselves into a living turret of death and tear their enemies apart. Sure Jedi can block a few blaster bolts, but try blocking 10+ times of them blasting into ye face, lol.
I've always wondered why a Sith didn't use a cortosis blade infused with some dark side ability because Cortosis blades literally short circuit lightsabers. It would be extremely useful especially if you have to fight a badass lightsaber duelist like Mace Windu. They could have at least used them as an off hand weapon, literally one swing from it, no more Vapad bullshit, use a bit of force lightning and fry his ass.

What I'd give to see this ancient era of the Old Republic get a movie or tv series. And please, let the director or even the producer be Denis Villeneuve, or someone with a similar style.
It would be nice to see how the st universe would evolve if the jedii had not splintered and remained on their planet so many different forms of force users would have developed if the Jedi and sith doctrine wasn't forced on every one else
I'm just waiting for Disney to get "creative" with lightsabers. Lightsaber blade rotating shields. Lightsaber scythes. Lightsaber Wolverine claws. Ugh.
Personally, I find it a bit silly and counter-productive, when I see individuals able to perform such feats as "destroy the entire Cron Star Cluster". Yeah, I get the writers desire to ramp up scale to provide a cool, engaging story but in reality, I think it denigrates the efforts and abilities of others, to simply win a battle or confrontation on a far more believable (and entertaining) scale. I ascribe it to the old "Dragon Ball Z" dilemma, of ramping up the power for power's sake, essentially because we are out of ideas. When you have individuals that can crush planets, destroy stars, wipe out entire armies, it becomes a bit numbing and so the stakes and the objectives become worthless for lesser beings. As I've mentioned before, this is one of Jar Jar Abrahms biggest problems. For him, BIGGER is always BETTER ! (i.e. the stupid and hilarious Death Star Planet). Meh, I'm bored already just thinking about it... :( That all said, thanks much once again for your excellent presentation Geetsly's!!! You folk always provide outstanding stories for each and every topic, greatly appreciated. :)
Pssh! Lightsabers are still king and queen. They symbolize the ultimate advancement in sword tech, plus they cut through a lot of metals and armor. Also, axes?! Too heavy, easy to dodge, and are only useful for terrifying eye candy. Ah, the elegant yet unnerving lanvarok. Here's hoping we see them in a lot of simulations, and "kid-friendliness" be darned! Not a fan of warbeasts. Would rather vouch for simple rider and carrier animals like horses and griffins and good old mechanized divisions and air and space forces. We really need high quality pictures of those ancient weapons and warships. Also, hope we get names for all those unidentifiable ship classes. Drop pods. Useful in case portal and teleportation methods are unavailable, or, at the very least, we just want a good shock and awe moment via orbit. 9:50: Yes, but they also made sure their best and finest forces were also destroyed as well. After that, they eventually lost the war. Not sure how I feel about the meditation spheres, however.
The Terentatek was a monstrous mistake that terrorized the sith as much as the jedi. The sith struggled to control them right from the git-go

For a dark side weapon, the sith used pretty weak tools. Our force sabers were superior in every way.
