- This is undoubtedly one of the most popularly acclaimed songs amongst the PMD music fan-community, even esteemed by those who only played PMD 2.
I happened to have noticed that there were various sections of the song that represented the various mixed emotions that the you, the hero, are carrying, as you ascend Sky Tower, knowing this will be your last adventure with your invaluable, irreplacable friend, your partner. If you wish for me to elaborate, please feel free to inquire.

My headcanon is that the PMD universe is the universe the meteor would have gone to if Zinnia didn't destroy the dimensional shifter.

Low PP can be a problem though, I eventually ran out of Max Elixirs but that problem didn't run deep for me in my modern run due to finding stairs quickly.
My childhood run on the other hand... Actually, I think I was still quite okay on that because I had a ton of reviver seeds compared to my modern run.

I want to play this game the same way, I played it the first time. Not knowing the story. Not caring about being a Grass type Pokemon. Just once more. But you never forget such a story. :)

I'm playing it for the 4th time bc it's such a great game. I really love the story of it. Idk why but I always played as Torchic with Mudkip as my partner.

PMD GTI: Ok, but not as good as the previous ones, but still some great pieces in it!

The Red Rescue Team's OST is way better than the Blue Rescue Team's though.

Oh man, I remember playing this game as a kid when looking up soundtracks wasn't a thing for me yet and I recorded the soundtracks I liked in the game with my shitty late 2000s phone.
I just wanted to preserve every memory from the game because it was such a good experience for me

Exactly how my life as a little kid went. I used to grab something to record soundtracks because I felt at ease with videogame music. Now that videogame soundtrack videos are a thing, (and thanks for that, because I can now turn them into mp3), I can easily look for my deepest memories at any time.
Because back then you had to live with the moment or invent a way to listen to them again.

When I was a kid before I knew youtube, I was recording the soundtracks on my IPod nano and got frustrated when it couldn't register the whole loop.
Now Im so glad TH-cam exists for making soundtracks easier to search and with good quality.
I still wanna replay this game along with other NDS titles but since I either lost them or sell them, Im kind of sad even if DeSmuMe is a thing but it was quite buggy/laggy.

i dunno why, but the towers always have the most amazing music, not to mention the boss battle theme when you reach the top. Both Sky Tower and Rayquazza and Temporal Tower and Dialga have outstanding soundtracks. round of applause to the composers. so many memories...
Spires and Trees also have pretty good music too.

one of my favourites pokemon games ever. awesome history, great OST, very original... and i almost cried with the ending. this was the adventure of a true bromance with your partner.
They really just do not make games like this anymore. A masterpiece.

This could be the theme of the game. It's so good. Thinking of the game and it's plot with heavy nostalgic influence makes me want to cry. I think it's the nostalgia, though.
This and mt blaze were my favorites. It just makes you think about life and beyond no wonder these games were ahead of their time.
Gosh. I played this game when I was, maybe, 8. This music still hits my core so easily. It's truly my favorite soundtrack of anything, game or movie, ever.

@xaddgx Actually, the brooding and melancholic tone of Sky Tower Summit leaves me to believe that the Hero is very heavily weighed down with sadness, which is momentarily set aside during the final battle with Rayquaza. But yes, I totally agree with you on everything else you said ;)
you are correct Bespinben, i played a lot of PMD as a kid, and this ost is easily my favourite. I still listen to it like 10 or so years after playing it as a kid
I played this game about 6 or 7 times. I started when I was a child, and I remember so well when I went to the Sky Tower for the first time... Now I play again, I'm a Treeko and my partner's Totodile. I still remember the musics, I sing them when I play, I still know the dialogs... I know this game by heart, but it's by very far my favourite game from the DS. SO many memories, such a good story, epic musics (my fav' is the Great Canyon), well... It makes me happy !

It's the same for me... The first time I played Pokemon Mystery Dungeon was when I was just a little girl and it was even before I began learning English (and the game didn't support my language but I figured out how to play it anyway). I have played it sooooo many so many times and I never get tired of it. I remember most of the soundtrack by heart. Pokemon mystery dungeon will forever be my favorite DS game :')

Great canyon is such a great track. Very understated.
Playing as Bulbasaur (or any Grass-type, really) had been a pain in the ass throughout the entire game, but it had never been as painful as it was in this dungeon.
Aerodactyls using Wing attack and agility EVERYWHERE!! And my partner Charmander didn't help very much o_x and the monster houses... Oh God.
I had it even worse as a Machop, thanks to the Ghost-types too... :(

Sean O'R At least I got to beat the crap outta Bitchquaza with Eevee the second time I restarted the game. On that game, I named my partner (pikachu) after my best friend.
Wow, I was Bulbasaur with Charmander as my partner on my first playthrough too, on Red Rescue Team. Ha, the second half of this game is a real pain with that duo. XD
No other video game soundtrack, let alone Game ever in my life gave me this sense of “Epic Final Quest” as much as this single song, dear lord I adore this game so much
this dungeon was much longer than I had anticipated. I made it to rayquaza with only 1 reviver seed left but managed to beat him by the skin of my teeth with everyone on my team at low health
I actually just beat Rayquaza yesterday without using any Reviver Seeds or linked moves, and here's how:
My third teammate was Absol, and I taught him Torment.
I recruited Shuppet on my way up, and she knew Spite and Screech.
It's the final dungeon. You've escaped becoming a wanted fugitive and now you have to fight the God of the Sky so he will help you save the world. Best Pokemon game of all time.
i always listen to this in awe because the various parts complement each other so greatly. it‘s like a journey with different checkpoints but the ride just keeps on going and you can‘t help it and just go with the flow.
@Bespinben I agree with your statement regarding the different emotions that the hero carries on its way to the top. I personally think that the Great Canyon does a great job at this as well. When I listen to that, I hear the beginning of a long journey to the top with the first high flute-like notes. In the lower, ongoing notes that come after that I hear that it is a long journey to find out the truth, but no matter how difficult it may be, the hero will go on, because the hero thinks it must know. Meanwhile you can hear small high notes, that sound to me like questions that are going through the hero's head.
First time on Sky Tower. 25F me thinking this will end soon. See the stairs...runs into a monster house...

This and everything about this game always hits my heart hard.... really beautiful track. Sad memory. I was really happy when a friend of my father gifted me this game even though it was used version. He was drug addict and one day in winter cold day, he has found in the side of the road.... I remember the sad memory always everytime when I touch this game, how I couldn't help him. because I was kid, it'll be excuse. How powerless I am, I always think like that. By these beautiful breathtaking musics.

The greatest Pokémon game ever.
The feeling of climbing sky tower while listening to this song I will never forget it for the rest of my life.
When Rayquaza tells us we won't escape unscathed if he looses his Hyper Beam here, our partner says ""So? We knew that from the start!" Adds another layer of sadness to this theme. We were knowingly marching towards our potential death, to sacrifice ourselves to save the world.
It brings me back to tht time everything was o full of joy in my life :')

I remember when I played this game... So many memories! I felt horrible that Torchic would have to leave Treeko... And the music brings all the emotion of that moment back.

Sky Tower is a fitting name and a fitting place, with fitting music. The music, coupled with the fact that you're climbing a tower in the sky, gives you the impression that you're a little closer to heaven.
And when Rayquaza mops the floor with you, you've arrived.
To think that I got this game as a part of an assortment of random DS games, given to me by one of my cousins when I was eight years old. And because it was Pokémon, I had to give it a try first. Little did I know that this would be one of the best games with some of the best music with some of the best stories I’ve ever experienced.

Sky Tower is by far my FAVOURITE dungeon in this game! It's really too bad that, in the original game, you had to find the Fly HM if you ever wanted to return to it. So glad that the remake fixed that little issue!
I used to listen to this on repeat in 2009.
The intro of this song is really light, yet serious when the flute comes in.
Then, the drums appear andgive the feeling that you and your partner courageously start ascending the Sky Tower, in hopes of finding Rayquaza. The little bridges seem like your partner asks you how you're feeling, but you're alright.
Then, at 2:00, you and your partner start to look around the miraculous place. Amazed by the beautiful sights, you seem distracted in awe. Yet you still keep on going.
That's my resume.
They really should have done that in the battle against Bittercold. That would have automaticly mad PMD3 my favorite in the series. But then it would take the record in the series for making me cry thelongest. These games are heavy, which is part of why they're so awesome.

I remember beating this dungeon when I was 7. Very first playthrough , and this was my very first video game. I banged my head against it for two weeks straight. Shuppets, Metagrosses, and Aerodactyls are just too much.
I've been passing on this upload here and there. This is one of my fav music to just pump myself up. This is such an amazing soundtrack than even the DX remaster isn't as good as the original (while I usually prefer the DX soundtrack over the classic one)

Listening to this track again after all these years, it's able to reach down and touch a place that I thought had gone numb a long time ago. I want to go back to the days when I was young and vulnerable and naive, when a game could make me feel this way so easily.

Of all the epic pieces I've heard, I keep returning to this one. Made the mistake of only bringing one oran berry and still managed to plow my way through sky tower (thank god for X-ray specs)

Start off as a grass type and you'll be doomed by 2-3hit KO silver winds in Sky Tower... Pikachu's thunderbolt is also a great AOE.
i wanted to replay this game recently. finished the game, and the ending somehow got me out of my sadness/depression. great game and great story, I'd recommend for people that don't like Pokémon games like me, since it's more like an rpg than an usual Pokémon game.

I think that 2:03 to 3:42 is one of the best music sequence of all the PMD series (some tracks aren't even as long as this, I find this funny, it show how important was this track for the game maker. Think about it, the whole track is 3:42 long, PSMD's Tree of life Trunk is shorter !)

Holy crap... I've listened to the red version so much, and hearing the blue one finally.. There's a little background bit in this one that isn't audible in the red version, and it contributes so much.

I've always wondered - how can such a beautiful piece of music have been created, and with such crystal clear quality on a small device like a DS? It's absolutely legendary, and it fits perfectly with what the main character pokemon is feeling. It's perfectly synced with the gameplay, and then the summit theme comes along and you know the main character has set aside all his sadness and turned it into even more bravery to save the world.
every time i hear this theme, i look around and have a different, new perspective, it's really awesome!
