- This is undoubtedly the most epic song in the entire game. Don't even try to compare this to its PMD2 counterpart "Defy the Legends". I will hunt you down, and spam your inbox (not really).
Hmm...if you slow the song down to half its orginal tempo, the second section of the song sounds kind of Jamaican.

The cover art of ACT being "possessed" is representative of how Gengar manages to convince them (and everyone else), that you're the same human from Ninetale's Legend, thus the cause of the natural disasters and therefore must be eliminated. Sure, Gengar doesn't literally possess them, but he sure is pulling the strings for awhile.

@@WinterFuyu Yeah. In Red and Blue Rescue Team, gender didn't matter so it worked on literally any Pokémon. Idk who designed it to be what it was, but I guess they didn't think it through much (or thought it would be gender-specific like the main series).

"Unbreakable Will" is what the PMD2 counterpart of this song used to be called until Explorers of Sky came out, which has a sound test function. As such, all tracks from PMD2 now have official names, and the one for the song in question would be "Defy the Legends".
Both are correct, but one is fanmade and the other is official.
Maaaan I love PMD. Explorers of Sky was my fav, but I've played them all, and each one is awesome.
I may have enjoyed pokemon explorers of time more, I still prefer blue rescue team because of the impact it brought to me

This was so intense as a kid and it took my breath away every single time my partner got attacked. I was even more happy then when the attacks missed.
Charmander with SMoke Screen was also pretty useful.
It's funny that I've only heard this music once and it still sticks in my head after almost 7 years.
This is probably the most upbeat and least "emotional" final boss theme of the PMD series

I beat Rayquaza around level 30 (Can't remember the exact level.) What I did was I linked all my moves with link boxes right before and ended up paralyzing, burning, poisoning, AND sleeping Rayquaza all at the SAME TIME! It was so awesome. I was going for a low level run because I wanted a challenge, and I did not expect to do all that. Actually, up till' that point I didn't know status ailments stacked like that in Mystery Dungeon.
Level thirty is a low level?
DylFromAcounting Nvm looked up a guide, it's the recommended level on that guide. I thought it was low level because I went through the game trying to do a low level run. Seems I was still average, despite struggling greatly during the running-away dungeons. (I swear I was at least low level then.)

Easily the best boss battle music. I love how they gave this fight a different boss fight theme than all the others.
Well of course they are gonna it a different music track, it’s the final boss. Not having different music would be like having the gym leader theme play for the champion in the mainline games.

I respect your opinion, but personally I think this song fits very well with the storyline, especially seeing how it is based on the motif seen in Fugitives Theme and Parting, to give a sense of continuity.
Ah, my favorite mystery dungeon games getting a well deserved remake. I don't care for the other entries as much, since they seemed to be a drop in quality from this masterpiece. Thank you chunsoft for doing things correctly unlike Gamefreak. :D

♥ Pєяσηα ♥ It may be that more people enjoy the fact that RRT's music is more confined. Comparing BRT's version of the soundtrack to RRT's, I have to say that the limitations of the GBA is what wins me over on the Red side. There are some songs that are better on the blue soundtrack, however.

Since I was a treeko my partner was a totodile and taught him ice beam for most other types grass has trouble fighting and it was quicker than you could imagine fighting rayquaza
I remember finally reaching rayquaza for the 1st time and waiting 3-5 minutes to hear that song, then... I started dying time after time for like 10 times before finally defeating him T_T

I gotta agree w/ Bespinben on this one. Defy the Legends was good, but this was much more atmospheric and fast-paced in my opinon. My heart's racing just listening to it. Defy the legends, while better sounding and more polished, was too synth-heavy and they made the bassline way too active.
But that's just my opinion.

It's my favorite game of all time. Definitely try it. I'd get Blue instead of read. Even though the games are almost identical, the music sounds better in Blue because of the better sound hardware on the DS.

Agreed. PMD2's was also more emotional. This seems more fit for an epic battle, while PMD2's was fit for an emotional battle against the enemy that had caused all of the pain that you and your teammates felt during the game.

I remember when I was 7 or 8 my friend and I were facing Rayquaza. It was a fun time especially when we beat him. I was Treeko and he picked Pikachu and we played this amazing adventure together on one screen.

I remember this playing as my Cyndaquil partner used Smokescreen while we all pummeled Rayquaza, and when he recovered from "Whiffer" my partner would use Smokescreen again and repeat the process until we killed Rayquaza. I also remember hearing this as Ho-Oh whooped my team's a**...

Actually, I suggest you buy it. I don't have much to compare it with (I've only just completed the main story in Blue Rescue Team, and I haven't started Explorers of Sky yet), but it's really an amazing game. The story's extremely good, too.

@Bespinben That's basically what I meant... Having played both Red and Blue Rescue Team, I know the story well, and I was eluding to the sly nature of Gengar and how he is basically telling people what to believe while maintaining their belief that they came to this conclusion themselves
This fight was hard on my first playthrough as a psyduck with a charmander, but second time I was cubone with a pikachu and it was really easy. On my second playthrough I recruited a syther all the way back in sinister woods and trained him along with me all the way to sky tower and all I did was throw a sleep seed a Rayquaza and then syther used agility so I only use 1-2 sleep seeds.

I love that this theme plays when you fight mewtwo and i fought him one on one well the first time I had my partner with me but the second time it was one and one and funny enough he joined after that lol
And the box art for Red Rescue Team shows Charizard with Medicham and Ekans. I'm not sure why they decided to mix them up, but that's the way it is.

Absolute banger
It's not really Rayquaza's theme... It fits Lugia a lot more.
First because Silver Trench is the hardest dongeon ever made (if we don't consider dungeons where you have to start at level 1 without items or money), and those who've completed it will agree with me since there are floor-monster houses and there are A LOT of regular monster houses (every 5 floors at least you're bound to get one), and let's not forget that on the last ten floors, the Kingdras have AGILITY, boosting every other pokemon on the room up to +4 speed, so unless you have a move like earthquake (which you might not have anymore because of all the traps and/or because you don't have any max elixirs left), you'll lose, powerless, after +90 floors.
Second because Lugia's dialogue is one of the best (if not the best) in the entire Pokémon game series. There is even a part when the dialogue is on black screen, and it's written that you've reached this far in your adventure and that it is time to give it your all, as if it were not only Lugia speaking, but also the entire staff of the game-makers. It is easily understandable that this dungeon, or at least this fight, is the one they prefered making the most.
(Also, it is the dungeon with the most musics in it in the whole Mystery Dungeon franchise)

It's strange that PMD players try to say that either PMD2 or PMD1 is better. Both of them have EPIC story lines that make you feel for the characters, they Both have AMAZING music that made every moment fell 10x better and that you could listen to forever, and they both have an awesome and unique gameplay style that I've never seen before. The only difference is that PMD 2 has more to it and some bad things in PMD 1 were fixed in PMD 2.

I may get some hate for this, but even though this game (In my opinion) has the best story, I have to say that Explorers of Sky is my favorite out of the series. It fixed so many problems that were present in Red/Blue Rescue Team and Explorers of Time/Darkness. After playing through Explorers of Sky, it's difficult to go back to Explorers of Time.
However, I could never stay away from this game. Like I said, I think this game has the most engaging story and I still play it to this day.
as someone that decided to play these games after playing Explorers i was like oh hey this is the song from the regi battles then i was like. OMG this came first XD . i love seeing the diffrence between the songs they reused in Explorers XD so fun

@DarkGlaceon471 There are very distinct differences between the song here and "Defy the Legends" from PMD2. The instrumentation is very different, and the bass line in the PMD2 version is completely different notewise.

The PMD2 soundtrack I downloaded lists this songs counterpart as "Unbreakable Will" not "Defy the Legends" :P
PMD2 still had a few 99 floor dungeons, the only ones I can remember now are the Zero Isle ones.
I just got so lucky in Sky Tower. I brought Absol along to deal with pesky psychic types and to have another Quick Attack user and I recruited a Lunatone with Hypnosis, and it learned Psywave during the trek up. Both of these moves were crucial against Rayquaza. My main plan was the same as usual: Use a Stun Seed( I couldn't believe they actually worked against bosses, but hey); get 3 tiles away, use whatever consumables you need like Oran Berrys and Elixers, and use Bullet seed; Then Lunatone came through with the Hypnosis so I could surround Rayquaza and hammer it to defeat. I brought like 6 Reviver Seeds (2 for each original party member).
I only got hit by Silver Wind once and was able to stop all Agility users with bullet seed

Hell no. They obviously couldn't get past Team Meanies when they reviewed these games. This is the most epic franchise ever.
