Ugh, this song just guts me! Thanks for your reaction. I totally agree with what you have to say about the tone of his voice in this song. I think it might have to do with the subject or what he’s singing about. Like, he has been doing a lot of thinking, and it’s just over, he’s apathetic. Whereas in the other songs, he’s hurting, and yearning for love like in, I was wrong, barely alive, and sometimes I cry, what are you listening to?, etc. And then he has a different tone with his love songs like, you are the joy of my life, more of you, Starting Over, etc..
Seeing him live left me with goosebumps for the entire performance. He doesn't do a lot of banter, there's not a bunch of showy stuff, he just stands there and sings ... and that's all he needs to do. He is amazing! And if you want to see him "dance," there's a clip of him "dancing" with Jimmy Fallon. Lol. Ok, so maybe there's one thing he doesn't do well ... 😂
