Fr. Roman Braga, a Romanian Orthodox monk who spent 11 years in Communist prisons in Romania gives his life story. At the time, Fr. Braga served as priest and spiritual father to the community of nuns at Dormition Monastery in Rives Junction, Mich. In 1947-48, while teaching Romanian literature at a high school in Bucharest, Braga began to pursue a doctorate in theology. In 1948 he was arrested and sentenced to five years in prison, where he was placed in solitary confinement for three years and later was part of a forced-labor crew of political prisoners who dug a canal joining the Danube River with the Black Sea.
