What you talking about? I once visited Prohor Pcinski, where he seemed to meditate under the rock, called "Isposnjak" or something like that, in the mountain above the Church. The Orthodox Church was building a cabin where people can come and visit and left some money there off course, but nevertheless , three people worked on the roof of the new build cabin of which two were very kind and simple people who greeted us and answered are curious questions but the other one who was arrogant and did not even greet us , turned out to be the priest. A very good example how much spiritual evolve he is. Anyway, after my hike partner, who led me there, found out that he was a priest, wanted to know why in the nearby village they removed the ancient stones that was the gate of the same old church, he answered with contemptuous tone "So you would ask, thats why!". We saw that there was no talking with the guy. A spiritual leader without humbleness is no spiritual at all, he can be leader though. Orthodox church, as any the other religious groups today, have so much power and act as if they are God themselves. If you read the new testament you can see that the priests who were against Jesus, behave the same as these religious leaders behave today. As Jesus said " ..they don't practice what they teach." Total misusing of power and manipulating the poor pious people, especially on the Balkans. But in front of the cameras, oh they are generous, and act holy. And the irony is, the person who meditated there , Prohor Pcinski, was a holy man, he went there to meditate. A thing some new age people do. I do not say that they are better or those are worst, and that all priests are corrupt, but open your eyes and do not trust priests who regurgitate words from scriptures.
I started praying every morning, and it was so helpful that I now pray in the evening, too. I found a free Orthodox prayer book online. I also pray the St. Michael prayer throughout the day when evil strikes or my mind starts to stray. I am very new and not officially Orthodox yet, but I look forward to praying the Jesus prayer while doing prostrations in the Orthodox church and hope to speak to an Orthodox father soon.

During Covid, I lost my job as a medical clinician and subsequently my home because I refused a certain jab. I became depressed and anxious and began to look at tarot readers online. Fortunately, I also prayed, eventually repented and through the help of my priest, once again placed my trust in God. Pre-Covid, I never thought that would have become a passion but through unceasing persecution and anxiety it did, so we always have to be on our guard.

Over the decades (I'm old) on and off I participated in Yoga classes. And some one at some time would tell me it was not a good thing to be involved in. I was also part of new age groups, doing exercises with energy, reiki and Buddhism. Our financial life was declining, and our marriage was almost over. One day when I was exercising, a friend in the group commented to me that his life is falling apart, including his job and he thought it was the meditations. So I decided to quit. I never went again, But My husband continues to attend, but not like before. I'm praying for him to stop.
Sadly maybe you could have focused on your own emotional needs so you didn’t fully follow anything but the great mind God gave you and all of us. Don’t go from one extreme to the other. Find you, be compassionate, kind, and also don’t forget you can find God anywhere not just in a building. Practice those things that promote love and compassion.

As a kid , Yoga was my religion and Paramahansa Yogananda was the "master" that Mom, so I as a kid, followed. The Autobiography of A Yogi, Edgar Casey books, the Bagvad Ghita, and the Tibetan Book of The Dead were my spiritual books. I attended my first seance at 7 years old, could observe auras at around 9 and learned the Tarot when I was 11 years old. My next thing was the Ouija board. Mom said that I could learn. We were members of the Aquarian Foundation in the Self Realization Fellowship. I grew up a child of the occult. Fast forward, to 29 years old, when I began studying the Christian bible with Diciples of Jesus, and was baptized as a Diciple of Jesus. Over the years in Fellowship with Christians, I've determined that most Christians are not truly aware that there ARE elements or "entities" affecting things that are unseen to most, just like the invisible data that streams to the cell phones. The "unseen" is there. It's real. The Holy Scriptures given by the Lord God (YHWH) identifies them and provides the signs that Followers can observe to protect yourselves. The Word can arm us to both defend and prosecute war against those entities. Our battle is not with the flesh, unless it's our own. NEVER sway from that which is WRITTEN. I am an Orthodox and have son who had depression due bullying at the school.As every mother I tried everything to help him.I took him to the church and baptised him.Few days later we went for Reiki sessions and after first day my son stopped vomiting from nervous stomach and felt better.I was doing sessions with him couse I felt bad too.All I can say is that Reiki saved me and my son.I mever felt better and never felt so much love and compassion for others.Nobody can tell me anything bad about Reiki.

I’m orthodox Christian was raised like that but I have realized after researching and strong prayers that only God is the ultimate redeemer and savior. We can honor saints and respect but we should pray to God directly. I also speak from experience , I would pray directly to a saint and only came to understand that it’s by Gods permission a saint can intercede. It’s not the saint that gives the miracle. You should pray to your holy guardian Angel. We all have one assigned to us. Gives our angel permission to protect you from sin and harm. We have free will. Best reasoning Ive heard against yoga as Orthodox. It had to come down to the poses because many of the westernized, hip yoga classes at the beach do appear very stripped of any mention of the religious beliefs-other than vague comments or saying “namaste” at the end. But knowing that the poses are symbolically referring to demons puts the nail in the coffin for me. Thanks to the father for pointing that out.

When I was leaving the prtnst world and becoming a convert to the Orthodox Church, I often thought of ' MY YOKE is easy, and MY BURDEN is light'. From the outside, the Orthodox Church can seem scary and intimidating, but, even as we take up our crosses, somehow HIS YOKE and BURDEN TRULY ARE LIGHT.. The sad thing is that so many people don't see the things they do as New Age or Occult practices. I know Christians who think Tarro cards, astrology, crystals, and all kinds of things are in harmony with Christianity. A lot of people think the "Universe" is some kind of god too. People have no idea how bad some of the things they do effect their soul and their relationship with God.
Valuable insight. We have moved too far from what has made us strong. Strength comes from God and we need a resurgence. We must focus on the young generations, most adults are unfortunately too deeply in bed with the Devil. We may be able to stem the tide but not fully heal multiple generations. We are in a battle for the soul of our society, for the very world and for ourselves. The corruption and rot that has spread by evil influence through the world is deeply embedded but it is not final. Darkness will never consume the world as long as we hold the torch, as long as we continue to feed the fire of righteousness and hold the torch of God high.
Id be really curious to hear the orthodox perspective on psychedelic tryptamines in specific. Theres a tremendous value behind these compounds wether medically or spiritually. For example, without them id still be suffering chronic migranes as i had my entire life, and have not in several years now, even without taking them consistently. But also, i wouldnt be here engaging with this curiosity towards orthodox christianity. Been a proud heathen my entire adult life, and my gods have served me better than ive served them if im being honest. But its almost as if that path lead me here in an unexpected roundabout way. I grew up around a protestant and catholic but secular world. Made christ seem utterly impotent and frankly corny to me, while the gods of my ancestors always embodied vitality and wisdom. I dont feel that same sense of cringe and disgust towards orthodoxy... its truly beautiful, and genuine.
In short. Psychedelics opened my mind so I remembered my childhood, that was too horrific to cope with, and still is. It led me, that for decades before was very negative against Christianity - to run to the Russian Orthodox Church. (I was 43) And I was Home. Baptized 6 months later, married 13 months after that. Before I had only bad relationships, open and hidden trauma. Like much else these plants and other medicines can be used in both good and bad ways. Therapeutic or as a drug to escape reality.

Orthodox church, as any the other religious groups today, have so much power and act as if they are God themselves.
If you read the new testament you can see that the priests who were against Jesus, behave the same as these religious leaders behave today. As Jesus said " ..they don't practice what they teach."
Total misusing of power and manipulating the poor pious people, especially on the Balkans. But in front of the cameras, oh they are generous, and act holy.
And the irony is, the person who meditated there , Prohor Pcinski, was a holy man, he went there to meditate. A thing some new age people do. I do not say that they are better or those are worst, and that all priests are corrupt, but open your eyes and do not trust priests who regurgitate words from scriptures.
I started praying every morning, and it was so helpful that I now pray in the evening, too. I found a free Orthodox prayer book online. I also pray the St. Michael prayer throughout the day when evil strikes or my mind starts to stray. I am very new and not officially Orthodox yet, but I look forward to praying the Jesus prayer while doing prostrations in the Orthodox church and hope to speak to an Orthodox father soon.

As a kid , Yoga was my religion and Paramahansa Yogananda was the "master" that Mom, so I as a kid, followed. The Autobiography of A Yogi, Edgar Casey books, the Bagvad Ghita, and the Tibetan Book of The Dead were my spiritual books. I attended my first seance at 7 years old, could observe auras at around 9 and learned the Tarot when I was 11 years old. My next thing was the Ouija board. Mom said that I could learn. We were members of the Aquarian Foundation in the Self Realization Fellowship. I grew up a child of the occult.
Fast forward, to 29 years old, when I began studying the Christian bible with Diciples of Jesus, and was baptized as a Diciple of Jesus. Over the years in Fellowship with Christians, I've determined that most Christians are not truly aware that there ARE elements or "entities" affecting things that are unseen to most, just like the invisible data that streams to the cell phones. The "unseen" is there. It's real. The Holy Scriptures given by the Lord God (YHWH) identifies them and provides the signs that Followers can observe to protect yourselves. The Word can arm us to both defend and prosecute war against those entities. Our battle is not with the flesh, unless it's our own. NEVER sway from that which is WRITTEN. The Apostle Peter warned us that the wolves entered in and after 2,000 years have become very good at perverting the Word to lead the unsuspecting astray. Avoid symbolism, and follow the WORD ONLY. I am an Orthodox and have son who had depression due bullying at the school.As every mother I tried everything to help him.I took him to the church and baptised him.Few days later we went for Reiki sessions and after first day my son stopped vomiting from nervous stomach and felt better.I was doing sessions with him couse I felt bad too.All I can say is that Reiki saved me and my son.I mever felt better and never felt so much love and compassion for others.Nobody can tell me anything bad about Reiki.

I’m orthodox Christian was raised like that but I have realized after researching and strong prayers that only God is the ultimate redeemer and savior. We can honor saints and respect but we should pray to God directly. I also speak from experience , I would pray directly to a saint and only came to understand that it’s by Gods permission a saint can intercede. It’s not the saint that gives the miracle. Best reasoning Ive heard against yoga as Orthodox. It had to come down to the poses because many of the westernized, hip yoga classes at the beach do appear very stripped of any mention of the religious beliefs-other than vague comments or saying “namaste” at the end.
But knowing that the poses are symbolically referring to demons puts the nail in the coffin for me. Thanks to the father for pointing that out.

When I was leaving the prtnst world and becoming a convert to the Orthodox Church, I often thought of ' MY YOKE is easy, and MY BURDEN is light'. From the outside, the Orthodox Church can seem scary and intimidating, but, even as we take up our crosses, somehow HIS YOKE and BURDEN TRULY ARE LIGHT..

@@Jorvaskrr I would say that although drugs aren't related to christian spiritual properties (and shouldn't be taken at all) it's good that he saw something like this while he was high, even better if it made him stop using it. You don't need drugs to meet Christ.

The sad thing is that so many people don't see the things they do as New Age or Occult practices. I know Christians who think Tarro cards, astrology, crystals, and all kinds of things are in harmony with Christianity. A lot of people think the "Universe" is some kind of god too. People have no idea how bad some of the things they do effect their soul and their relationship with God.
Sad this is so many people don't see that all religions are now corrupted too.

Valuable insight. We have moved too far from what has made us strong. Strength comes from God and we need a resurgence. We must focus on the young generations, most adults are unfortunately too deeply in bed with the Devil. We may be able to stem the tide but not fully heal multiple generations.
We are in a battle for the soul of our society, for the very world and for ourselves. The corruption and rot that has spread by evil influence through the world is deeply embedded but it is not final.
Darkness will never consume the world as long as we hold the torch, as long as we continue to feed the fire of righteousness and hold the torch of God high.

Id be really curious to hear the orthodox perspective on psychedelic tryptamines in specific. Theres a tremendous value behind these compounds wether medically or spiritually. For example, without them id still be suffering chronic migranes as i had my entire life, and have not in several years now, even without taking them consistently. But also, i wouldnt be here engaging with this curiosity towards orthodox christianity. Been a proud heathen my entire adult life, and my gods have served me better than ive served them if im being honest. But its almost as if that path lead me here in an unexpected roundabout way. I grew up around a protestant and catholic but secular world. Made christ seem utterly impotent and frankly corny to me, while the gods of my ancestors always embodied vitality and wisdom. I dont feel that same sense of cringe and disgust towards orthodoxy... its truly beautiful, and genuine.

In short. Psychedelics opened my mind so I remembered my childhood, that was too horrific to cope with, and still is. It led me, that for decades before was very negative against Christianity - to run to the Russian Orthodox Church. (I was 43) And I was Home. Baptized 6 months later, married 13 months after that. Before I had only bad relationships, open and hidden trauma. Like much else these plants and other medicines can be used in both good and bad ways. Therapeutic or as a drug to escape reality.

By the way, I am talking as an ex psychonaut that came to Christ for help. The psychedelics made my life a fantasy, where I wrongly thought I got to know God from those intense experiences with psychedelic, it was a lie, my life was not truthful and not sustainable. Christ is repairing all. I love Him so much!

@@ericzmusic No, it was the Holy Spirit. I had my first encounter as a toddler before I could speak. I just went through a process of denial for 40 yrs or so.
