Did this race twice first time no pit and just went on level 4-5 fuel saving finished 6th the second time I pit on lap 10 for a little bit more fuel and won the race, it was my 5th win of all time on sport mode I was hyped still am and that’s why I am telling y’all lol

Given how well Steve drove in the worse car with the less fuel (less power) strategy, I'd like to have seen him go all out power and 1 stop
Says to me that in races like this, way more than just 1 car are viable, unlike the popular belief that 1 car dominates. Well, it may dominate a no strategy race, but not so much in ones that require more than just pedal-to-the-floor for X laps.
Surely most of that time difference is you starting farther back at the start

Yes this is not strategy I would want to do, when its so booring, when its so slow car everybody just overtaking you and you have to hang on, because you do zero pitstop strategy, so I would do atleast one pitstop strategy.

Fuel conservation races are always a challenge, especially if caught on the back foot. Good top 5 results though!
I'm very impressed by the Swift Gr4. It has a very good tire and fuel management, since it's very light and the engine is a low-liter capacity (compared to the rest of the field). It's my car choice for technical circuits, like Deep Forest or Suzuka

The difference in total race times probably mostly comes from your starting position. If you start further back, your first lap time and therefore race time will be longer, because you are actually driving farther than someone who starts up front.

@@Jay-dx9fi why not? The newer Sport looks really good and it’s engine does actually make respectable power compared to the car’s weight (which isn’t even a ton lol). 140 BHP on paper, but dyno results of factory cars with 165 BHP.
@@jerkopatrik Fair enough, I just cant see that being worth the price for what you get out of it. If you're buying something with a title such as "sport" surely you'd want something with a bit more sauce than a damn swift doing 0-100kmh in over 7 seconds lol..Thats like 90s economy car territory. But if thats what you or they like then sure no worries :)

Even though the Swift may be off on pure race pace, it's very strong around handling tracks and is amazing on fuel and tyres... very underrated GR.4 car in longer races

Hey Steve, i love the new (super chill) intro. Chill music and a very interesting 5 wide shot. It's very you, not that stuff most of youtubers do when they show you the most intense moment in the clip and they scream and shout and feels like something's gonna blow up. I hate that trend! If someone was meant to make it better, it was you! Congrats!
Brilliant video Steve I did this race to came 4th from P 12 so I was happy.
Great video! I love trying to keep pace with a slower car and playing out the strategy. It's hard to guess the best strategy sometimes but you moved up from your original qualifying position. I know I would have probably thrown out the fuel saving option the moment I found my self toward the front of the pack. At that point you probably could have drafted a few cars in mode 1, saved fuel when you lost the draft, and then just had a shorter pit stop time.
Yeah, I was thinking the better economy may have saved enough time in pit stop to leap frog maybe

You should try the Corvette on Daily Race C, that things got some acceleration and is a fun challenge to control on the narrow mountain part of Mount Panorama. But if you could tame the beast that is the Suzuki Swift, then you could handle it. Awesome video! 😅

Gotta love that on track days the small hot hatch has enough fuel to drive home and the bigger trailered cars use up a tank and a half or so! Yet still the same performance

Have a go with daily race C (Bathurst) with the Skyline Super Silhouette - It's actually a viable car (within top 300 last time I checked) due to high top speed & handling / not many gear changes needed. I've found staying in 3rd for the first left hander is better, as well as maxing out all the gears (especially 4th).

I did this strategy in NSX, running most of the race on mode 4/5/6, ended up 22s ahead of P2. The advantage is that you don't have to fight with anyone throughout the race. Did quite a lot of lift&coast too.

I would love to see Steve attempt the race very early on in Mafia: Definitive Edition on simulator settings. Notoriously difficult with 1930’s race cars (plenty of under steer and three gears only). I’ve never struggled so much in a race in my life, I don’t know how people who don’t play racing games ever made it through that level.
Lift and coast is another way to save fuel that is super effective, you can do it on top of the fuel mixture settings
I planned on running this race on map 1 full out, adding 7 laps of fuel and barely making it to the line on fumes. But got busy doing life things and missed all of the race time slots.

Steve I, a Road Atlanta enthusaist, can confirm that yes, that was in fact turn 7.
A way to save fuel is to stop accelerating at say, 150MPH, then accelerate again at 130MPH. I did that on a campaign endurance, Le Mans WTC700/800 with Honda NSX Group B & Group 3. Saved a lot of fuel that way. Also stopped accelerating before turns.

For the no stop strategy you need to find the car with the best mid-rpm fuel efficiency so it has a lot of power earlier on, but it also doesn't consume lots of fuel. A muscle car would be great, but I don't think many of those are available.
I play with speed markers on. Try that out and May be use the third person camera. Enjoying this game to the core. On my 37th Menu card !!

Super GT, What do you feel about the PSVR2 and the free VR Upgrade for GT7? I play VR on an old HTC Vive but have used my son's Quest 2 and the older PSVR. I once played Asseto Corso in VR and loved looking around while racing. I don't think I had dabbled with any settings it was just a quick test. But Im thinking GT7 is gonna be a great game in VR. Any thoughts?

polyphony still not giving us a rearview mirror in all views or at the very least separating the radar from the rest of the mfd is such a massive oversight. the whole thing becomes incredibly awkward during fuel saving races; i'm a decent enough A+ driver but the quality of my driving/my ability to race respectfully diminishes significantly in fuel savers, i cant imagine what a B rank fuel saver would look like.
@super gt now that Sony has confirmed PSVR2 support for Gran Turismo 7 as a free patch, will you be getting that and doing videos in that format? When I used PSVR1 for racing games it was clearly an advantage over flatscreen because I could place my car even better in the line. Let us know, would love to see some Super GT PSVR2.

I had the Acura NSX. Similar to your Suzuki. Not the fastest on the straights but made up for it in the turns. With the Acura I was able to go up to 9-10 laps on fuel mix 1 before the pit.

As an irl Suzuki Swift owner I can definitely say that it is the slowest car. 850 kg, hybrid engine, but it starts slower than the old 1.2 L Ford Fiesta Mk4 (1999). There's nothing "Japanese" about this car, I don't recommend it. They slapped the electric motor on just to be able to sell it in Europe because the engine is just insanely bad.
The Suzuki Swift Sport is just a road car with turbo, splitter and wing slapped on it.

You should've tried to huck a hot lap in power 1 once you built up enough reserve just to see about how much you burn that way you can know with confidence when its time to put the hammer down. But then again, like you say, you really gotta feel it out from race to race
Hold up: you got a penalty in the first race, how was it that much quicker?
Yeah this is the race of distance while trying to stay out the way of obstructions.
I am just thinking, the sections of the track you are losing time compare to others you should switch to lean 1/2/3.
Also the parts that are steep use 1 tick less lean as what your middle lean would be for the track, and for the parts that go down hill rapidly use max lean.
This is all trying to get as close to others, cause the hidden key would be you want to be in as much toe all the time.
Finding someone in the top 10 that has the same speed could be very difficult but not impossible.

I used the Supra, 1 stop half way through the race, no fuel management running on 1 the whole time and finished top 3. No stress
I wonder if you accompany fuel savings woth higher gear rising does it preserve even more fuel. For example on some turns that require gear 4, maybe ride through in 6th gear, some kind of experiment to that nature.
I come to think. How long has it even been since the last time you were in a gt race, and fuelsave no stop was the go-to strategy?

Please forgive me for not knowing if this is allowed, or would make no difference. But if I was racing a specific track, with an underpowered car. Then I would concentrate the finaldrive, and adjust the gear ratios for the track, especially trading away top-speed for acceleration, and finding that balance, where I'm about to bounce off the rev-limiter, in top gear, just before I need to start braking for the turn after the longest straight or highest speed section. That's what I would do. You can even adjust gears for specific turns.
I understand building & tuning to be ready for anything, or just for what you're comfortable with or prefer. But if you're desperate for the best performance on a specific track, then you can adapt everything to be the best possible, just for that track.
