This song was so layered, and I could feel the weight behind it without any context of where it is placed into the game! Great music can always do that. I'd like to check out the definitive edition version someday as well.

Engage the enemy is such a good track. Without spoiling you are definitely correct with the song being “important”
Love to see Xenoblade start appearing more on the channel :)
In terms of other Xenoblade songs Moebius Battle (phase 2) and Praetor Amalthus the Acting God are great ones with Colony 9, The End is Near, Gaur Plains and Zanza the Divine being just as great.
Have an awesome day :)
Surprised no ones mentioned it yet but "Once we part ways" from XCDE is an absolute masterpiece and gets overshadowed by a lot of the more high energy songs
YES I thought it was just me who loves that song
I recommended it in the last video and I completely agree.
I absolutely love that song too!

@@SolitarySaturn 100%! Let’s go!
It’s really hard for me to not recommend every song in the xenoblade chronicles’ OSTs but I’ll restrain myself and recommend the more iconic songs like “Mechanical Rhythm” and You Will Know Our Names” from Xenoblade Chronicles definitive edition
Definitely these. I’m actually partial to the original version of You Will Know Our Names, though-I think the climax hits a little harder in that one. Both are great, though.
Those are battle music, just to give context

These games are all full of great songs that are all over the musical spectrum, easily my favorite series for music. A tragic decision is one of my favorites that hasn’t been mentioned yet, but all the songs mentioned here are must listens imo
Thanks for the recommendations! I might even pick a few at random as well. I also like to use the channel to shine light on the tracks that deserve more attention than they get here on youtube.
Also, I started playing the game on the channel if you are interested.
To my taste the DE versions of most tracks are better. Original version's arrangement of this song is more experimental/unique, but the quality of instruments is not comparable.
The quality of the instrumentals is higher in the DE versions but there are a lot of tracks for which I find the original arrangement and the level balancing makes me prefer them. Often this is because it lends certain sections or instruments more impact.
The original tracks are still great for sure but I cant get over the worse quality. The tracks have so much more oomph to them in the remake.@@bdk336
I came to the games later, after playing XC2, so I don't have the emotional connection to the original version. I much prefer the DE version as a result. But I get why people who played the original prefer that music. Music really has such an emotional hold on you.
@@champansara I do have nostalgia for og and usually prefer the "crunchyness" of the guitars except for ironically Mechanical Rhythm in DE which I prefer dramatically to the og 😭
Gaur plains is an absolute must listen. Probably the most memorable track for me in Xenoblade 1 to be honest.
loving all the xenoblade content. definitely check out mechanical rhythm, great battle theme. somebody get this man a switch pls lol
I'm so glad you listened to it! ❤🔥I told you it hit hard, and yes even more with the context of the game
Really been enjoying your interest in Xenoblade lately. You obviously have a strong history with RPGs and a love for the genre. This series as a whole is amazing. You'd be doing yourself a disservice by not playing this game. I'd love to watch you experience it.
As much as I want to recommend like 20 songs for you to listen to (lol), some of the song names can get a bit spoiler-y.
Love the Streets of Rage shout-out btw! I never would've made that comparison for that part of the song but you were spot on lol🤘🏼
Guess what! Playthrough has started here on the channel if you are interested in seeing my journey. :)
Here are some xenoblade 1 songs you can listen to!
Zanza the Divine
You will know our names
Gaur plains
Mechanical rythm
Note that there are TONS of songs in this game but these are very notable ones
Ah, and also Fog beast battle. Thats a great one!
In most cases I prefer the original over the de. But in this particular song the de-version hits sooooooo different. They got a new vocalist for the de and, God damn, her voice is purely amazing
Can't wait for you to experience this music with the cutscenes that it goes with. It's going to be great.
Though I enjoy the original version of this track that we just listened to, I however find the definitive version so much more impactful not to mention emotional for obvious reasons
Interesting, I'll probably be in the minority, but I find the arrangement from Definitive Edition to be overly melodramatic. I find it very hard to take the scenes seriously. Especially that one scene from early on in the game, total mood killer. Oh well, opinions.
@@oneish7454 I was of the same mind when I first heard the DE version of this track before DE released, preferring the original version, HOWEVER, once DE actually released and I played it with the new music, *that* moment just hit SO much harder and I suddenly couldn't look back...
I started playing the game here on the channel and just heard this track in game for the first time!!!
My personal favorite track in the game is "Mechanical Rhyhtm" (Especially the definitive edition version), but I'd be remiss to not point out some of the cool stuff about Engage the Enemy.
Basically, Engage the Enemy is part of a line of three tracks from XCs 1, 2, and 3 that all sort of musically reference each other in some 1.
"Counter-attack" from XC2 starts with the exact same piano chords "Engage the enemy" ends with but in reverse and "The Weight of Life" from XC3 directly uses motifs from "Engage the Enemy" and "Counterattack". It might ve a fun video idea to listen to Counterattack and Weight of Life in one video for that reason!
One of the better tracks. One of the songs which was hit a bit by the DE version. Tragic decision is I think better in the DE edition.
All xenoblade games have an exceptional soundtrack, but there isnt really something like trailers with visuals wich you could react to. Everything story relatet from xenoblade is best enjoyed by playing throu the game.
Another great anime game with a great soundtrack would be Honkai Impact 3th. And in contrast to Xenoblade, Honkai impact 3th has a lot of really fancy cinematic music videos, wich would make for good reaction content.
Playthrough just started here on the channel! Yay!
The Definitive Edition music is much better! You should try it
I started a playthrough here on the channel and just heard this track in game for the first time! Wow!
