    I did not screw down the gas cap after a fill-up and got a Check Engine light & then a PO 440 code from my code tester. Tightened the cap and the code went away. Easy fix.

      If that code pops up again replace the solenoid that is mounted on the side of the engine. A few months later it went out causing the same problem. I am assuming the seals in the valve get dry rotted over time causing the vapors to leak.

      If it does we found one more solenoid like that one one up on the side of the engine on the passenger side. We replaced it a month after this one. The rubber seals just wear out from use and age.

    Im pulling a 440 code on my 2000 2.2 s10 for the evap system, would this fix apply to my truck as well?
    Ive been having fuel economy and power issues for awhile, feels like it would be the same issue

    • @matthewrandall6320
      @matthewrandall6320  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It might be the problem. There are several issues it could be with that code. Unfortunately in 2001 they lumped several problems into one code. It was a trial and error on our part until we found the exact problem. It is a cheap and easy part to replace.

    Matt good video man, very informative. I just got a 98 S10 2.2L w/ 70k original miles. Threw this code the other day. Should I start with this vent solenoid? And going forward, what is the other solenoid on the side of the engine? Purge valve?

    • @matthewrandall6320
      @matthewrandall6320  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      After doing this I would replace both of them. The other one was on the side of the engine. It went out the next week after fixing this one.
