Its difficult to find spots that your lure willbstay on bottom on that river. The current is so fast that 3/4 ounce jigs won't even make it to the bottom especially when it's windy
Boat control is 100% of this, can maintain a 1/2 oz dropshot vertically in the heavy current from lake st Francis below the damn in the 5mph current and above the dam to where the “drifts” die off. It takes some practice for sure, east winds make it hard, north and south winds make it really hard to fish your spots
You just have to learn to play the current. Cast up river to give things time to fall, then work your jig where you want it. There's some finesse to it, for sure.
