As a management consultant who manages projects for a living, but is looking to transition into project management as a career, this video has been an incredible resource in me understanding the theory behind what I've been working on for so many years. Thank you so much!
As an assistant PM for 5 years in Telecom industry, I always think PM work is a complicated task until I watched your video. You sorted it out in a clear manner and I suddenly realized all the works I did is not as complex as I think. You just provide the dots that I am missing to see how all my responsibilities are interconnecting. I'm also impressed with your clarity of PM concept and the ability to present practically how it functions in detail. Great job and Thanks!

I’m project manager for 3.5 years currently preparing for PMP exam. Can’t thank you enough in the way you connected and elaborated the planning phase. Thank you once more
Great video. Just a note or two on daily PM tasks: I don't find it necessary to meet everyday with the team and owners. Most owners are extremely busy with other day-to-day tasks that generate revenue for the business. I always send out bi-weekly status reports (Powerpoint format usually with updates on costs, resources, schedules, action items, etc.). And, I always put high visibility notes in the email body (like off schedule, overrun costs, etc). If the project is shorter in duration or if the stakeholders want/need the information more readily available, I will issue status reports in a weekly manner. The most important thing I do everyday is ensure that my emails are allocated correctly. Your brain is made for execution, not storing information. Every email is tagged into a project folder or tagged as follow-up. If I need to follow-up, I add it to my daily notebook under each project. If I need to speak to someone, I add it to my daily notebook under each project. I always send out minutes from every meeting. At the end of the day, I go through my daily notebook (Microsoft OneNote is perfect for this) and proceed to mark items off the list as I complete them. This allows me to manage multiple projects at one time. We don't use PM software at all.
I always felt I forgets things too quickly which make me feels very bad but as you said Out brain is not meant for storing information but Execution. I think it describes us best and now I feel peaceful about forgetting. I really don’t need to remeber everything
Your approach to daily PM tasks, including efficient communication, regular status reports, and meticulous organization, is commendable. Leveraging tools like Microsoft OneNote for task management and email organization is a practical alternative to PM software, especially for managing multiple projects simultaneously. Your emphasis on clear communication and accountability contributes to successful project execution.
Not ten minutes in and this is already helping more than any of my lessons have done! I'm doing Project Management in my college course and the lessons haven't taught us anything but the types of PM, not how it actually works. Thanks so much for this!
Finished PMP, and this video is basically a summary of what is taught. I understand why the video is saying that PMP won't make you a good manager, so that he can make money selling a course for $297 that is basically the same as a PMP course. By the way, you can find a project management course online for free (what I used to pass PMP).
Hey, Tom, Congratulations on getting the PMP! Great achievement. Yes, PMP won't make you a good manager, especially in the IT industry. At the same time, I totally agree that a person can learn project management online for free. It's will take more time and they'll repeat a lot of typical mistakes. My courses come from my practical experience to help you become a great PM without trials and errors. And let me ask you this: Did you watch this whole video because you felt like you are 100% ready to take on any project right now?
Impressive! Packed with valuable insights from 12 years of project management experience, all condensed into just 45 minutes. This tutorial is a must-watch for anyone looking to learn practical, real-world PM strategies in a short amount of time!
Just great, studied Project Management Master of Science Project Management in the UK, Manchester Salford Online University (Robert Kennedy College Switzerland campus), but this compact and comprehensive Video says all, to be ready to go. Good video, but even better: Good advise, I have 39 years of PM in automotive and your are spot on in most of the topics. I hope everything is all right with your and your loved ones with the current situation in your country.
Hi Dmytro! Just wanted to say thanks a second time for this great video; I'm having my project management exam for my course this Friday and the Thursday afterwards for part B It's a 7 hour exam in total, with 4 hours for part A, which is dedicated to creating Project initiation documents, and then 3 hours for part B which is dedicated towards a project checkpoint report and a performance review email for the end of the project. When I first started this part of my course, I understood the concepts of project planning (as they are all quite logical and understandable) but I didn't really appreciate the bigger picture or know how to put it all together, and there would be many concepts that I'd simply fail to think about. Due to this, I was terrified for my exam. After watching this video a few times over though, it all started to come together in my mind, and I truly think I understand what it means to be a project manager and what would be expected of me. And thanks to that, to your video and your hints and tips, I'm pretty confident that I can pass this exam, and on top of that, I've developed a personal interest and enthusiasm for this topic and part of my course. This has truly meant a lot to me, thanks. Edit: If I ever fancy getting into the world of project management, or have the funds just to explore it all out of my own curiosity, I will definitely seek out your course and videos.
@@ITProjectManagers Hi! I've finished both parts of the exam now. The first part I ran out of time on, but I managed to get the Gantt chart, resource plan, and cost plan done, and I did well on the smart targets, stakeholder analysis, risk analysis, background information, and communication plan. I did do my cost plan, resource plan, and Gantt chart on Excel though, and I later found out that they would be converted into PDF files which... Well... Produced less than favourable results. My checkpoint report in part B was pretty good throughout, but without my Gantt chart and stuff being so hard to read I may have gotten the dates wrong for many sections. The information I put in each section was very thorough though. As for the performance review email where I needed to reflect on the project's performance, and my own performance, through reflection on resource management, task delegation, quality management, project management methods used, risk management, communication management, and how requirements were met, lessons learnt etc... That went really well! In fact all of the things I listed I discussed in great detail and remembered off the top of my head, so my revision really paid off there! So overall it's a mixed bag, but I'm proud of what I did achieve. Edit: Also we were doing the whole exam on an word pad... And their version of Excel felt just as clunky. So... That was also a challenge.
I watched this video 3 times, I had a PM interview and bombed it surprisingly I have another one and hope to ace it. Once I make enough money, I'm definitely getting his book too. Thanks for what you do!

Yes, please. I watched this video again and again to understand the whole concept. Even if the video is 1hr or more I'll still watch it. Thanks for sharing this information.
Truly magnificent video. Thank you for giving so much value! In disbelief about the comments about your accent - as a native English speaker, I can confirm you articulated yourself beautifully at all times. Best of luck bro!

Started my career as web design and developer transitioning into ITPM. Hope I can get the most out of your course. Even though I agreed that certificate is somehow not practical and many are on theoretical, being certified is still important to get a PM job. Hopefully this course can offer certificate one day in future.
@@ITProjectManagersI passed my project manager interview today!!!! Your content is gold. Especially the 15 years in 45 mins video , it really helped me
@@ITProjectManagersI only watched that one, and this and another interview video of yours. I never truly understood how project management work until I watched that video
I’m new to the video and project management. I’m not a dedicated Project Manager but considering adding the skill to my résumé for my role in manufacturing. Would you recommend the CAPM?
It depends. If you want to have a certificate on your resume, it won't add much extra credit for you. PMP may do that at some point, but you need 3-5 years of hands-on experience. However, if you want to learn project management, I recommend taking my course. You'll learn a lot of practical skills that you can apply throughout your whole career.
You explained more in those 45 minutes than my teacher has in the past 4 weeks or so; this is fantastic! I am curious though, where are you from? You have a very strong accent but I can't place it.
Just whanted to now, What Project Management tool(s) do you reccommend? Specially for IT Security & Infrastructure Project. MS Project doesn't address our requirements. Specially Dashboarts and Automation.
Learn to talk as much shit as you can and keep up with the latest buzz words and catch phrases. Hold as much useless meetings as possible, You'll will find that from middle management and above all do the same.
I greatly appreciate the time and dedication you gave to produce this video! It is both insightful and resourceful for people who are embarking in the project management realm. Congrats for the excellent work!
You're very welcome! Check out this series. It will help you understand how it works out in practice: th-cam.com/play/PLjbXjDdSp7vcVDSFY6D6AQf4LFSVO1i3r.html
Thank you very much Dmitriy, I am a newly certified PMP and found your Project Management Basic tutorial very resourceful. It has strengthen my project management skills and i look forward to join your other Online classes in shortly.
Great sales pitch. I just watched out of curiosity to better work with project managers who often are sometimes incompetent. like one of out 5 can actually understand what the project goal is, and it impacts how they can direct things... but the other people on the project can help. it always comes down to learn how to work with them, how to supply the right bits to the project manager so he can integrate them well. So doesn't make sense to book but good to listen, and again, nicely explained why it would make sense to just learn from you.
If you’re a sales donkey for some reason no matter the industry there is friction. The role of a project manager forces us to think different and contrary to what we are taught not all of them are customer focused but can be profit, politically (company politics), deadline, etc. focused instead.
What an incredible resource! This is so practically helpful. I have been through lots of videos which are mostly theoretical. This video shows how project management works in real world. I am saving up for your course :)
Very good video! What is the project management tool you recommend to manage all the process you mentioned here including day to day task management, issue and action list, which roll into risk management? By the way, I am in construction field, the process is the same, just the task is not going to finish in 3 days. Thanks!
Thanks for your feedback, Lans. I'm glad that you found it useful. Check out other videos on the channel as well. I provide lots of real-life examples that will help you understand how it's done in the real world.
Hey! This is mind blowing. Thanks a lot. But I would like to know if this approach works for Healthcare PM. That's an area I'm looking into?? Please respond
I did several project that required moving, transforming, and analyzing data in huge amounts. But it wasn't the goal of the project. It's the data for the product we built.

@@ITProjectManagers Do you a class on step by step to use Jira and other tools to run or become a scrum master step by step like you have for PM. Scrum management step by step using Jira and doing it step by step using tools such as Jira
I would start with Merlin Project or Wrike. They are quit affordable even in case your company doesn't want to pay for it. And you can share PDF extracts with stakeholders.
I'll start my job as a software project manger on May 8, 2023. I have no background on Software PM, specifically the process and tools that are required but i have been an assistant project officer for more than 4 years. what do i mean is that, it will apply the same principles except for the tools. Wish me luck!
It’s a complex question, Clark. If you want to have a PM software for yourself, I would go with ClickUp or Merlin Project (Mac OS only). But keep in mind that a project manager usually doesn’t "bring" PM software with themselves into an organization. Organization should provide you with one that works well with their environment. In the real world, 99% of time I use enterprise level solution like Azure DevOps or JIRA.
It depends on what's your goal. I think there's more money in DevOps role right now. But if you feel like you want lead people and make bigger impact - go for the project management.
Thanks for your insightful content. As a junior developer, I find this tutorial very beneficial. Your 11 years of experience condensed into 45 minutes gives me a valuable perspective on project management. I appreciate the clarity and structure of your presentation - it makes complex concepts more accessible. Keep up the great work!

Glad it was helpful!
@@ITProjectManagersI passed my project manager interview today!!!! Your content is gold. Especially the 15 years in 45 mins video , it really helped me
@@ITProjectManagersI only watched that one, and this and another interview video of yours. I never truly understood how project management work until I watched that video
@@amylyu9144 Congratulations! Glad to hear that!
Thank you! for sharing! I have watched it twice in two days and made many notes. This has helped me to refine my PMP processes further.
I'm so glad it was helpful! Thank you for your comment
This is the most interesting pm channel I’m following. Thank you very much for the great content
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it:)
I see. Thank you for the prompt and insightful response. I’ll definitely consider your course if I decide to pursue this further.
Thank you very much, Dmytro! Really useful and time saving content!
Glad it was helpful!
Only one word: BRAVO!!!!!
Thanks! Glad it was helpful.
great job, as an acting PM I can not imagine what could be even more usefull within the paid content:)
Thank you, Bogdan. Glad you found it useful.
You explained more in those 45 minutes than my teacher has in the past 4 weeks or so; this is fantastic!
I am curious though, where are you from? You have a very strong accent but I can't place it.
Thanks for your kind feedback.
I'm from Ukraine.
@@ITProjectManagers No problem! Keep up the good work!
And thanks for the info the clarity. Cлава україні 🇺🇦!
I think JIRA with Service Management module with help you. Check out details here: www.atlassian.com/software/jira/service-management
I greatly appreciate the time and dedication you gave to produce this video! It is both insightful and resourceful for people who are embarking in the project management realm. Congrats for the excellent work!
You're very welcome! Check out this series. It will help you understand how it works out in practice:

very comprehensive and in depth! thanks!
You're very welcome!
Thanks for the detailed breakdown of the entire PM process 👍
Glad it was helpful!
thank you very much i learnt so many useful things
Glad to hear that
This was the best explanation of project management
Thanks for your great feedback. Super glad you found it useful!
Glad you enjoyed it. What do you do that you need to work with project managers?
If you’re a sales donkey for some reason no matter the industry there is friction. The role of a project manager forces us to think different and contrary to what we are taught not all of them are customer focused but can be profit, politically (company politics), deadline, etc. focused instead.
Great video, thank you for sharing your experience! 👍🏽
You are welcome. Glad it was helpful.
Excellent post. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it. You are welcome!
@ITProjectManagers thanks for such amazing video. I as Product Manager learned new things for me
Great to hear! Thanks for writing back.
What an incredible resource! This is so practically helpful. I have been through lots of videos which are mostly theoretical. This video shows how project management works in real world. I am saving up for your course :)
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for writing back!
Very good video! What is the project management tool you recommend to manage all the process you mentioned here including day to day task management, issue and action list, which roll into risk management? By the way, I am in construction field, the process is the same, just the task is not going to finish in 3 days. Thanks!
In the construction field, I would go for Merlin Project or Wrike.
Great presentation. Well done. Invaluable for beginners who want to accelerate their grasp of the discipline.
Thanks for your feedback, Lans. I'm glad that you found it useful.
Check out other videos on the channel as well. I provide lots of real-life examples that will help you understand how it's done in the real world.

Thank you! You too!

Wow, thank you!
Nice video and thank you. Have you ever done Data Analytics project?
I did several project that required moving, transforming, and analyzing data in huge amounts. But it wasn't the goal of the project. It's the data for the product we built.
This video is priceless. Thank you Dmytro!🙏
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video , Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
great video, it's the best lesson i've found on the topic. thanks a lot.
You are welcome, Nessim. I would also recommend watching the project management examples series. It will add more depth to the overall PM approach.

@@ITProjectManagers Do you a class on step by step to use Jira and other tools to run or become a scrum master step by step like you have for PM. Scrum management step by step using Jira and doing it step by step using tools such as Jira
@@seanjohn4677 I explain how Scrum and Kanban work, but it's more of a project management perspective, not a scrum master.
which software to use to create a project schedule ?
I would start with Merlin Project or Wrike. They are quit affordable even in case your company doesn't want to pay for it.
And you can share PDF extracts with stakeholders.
One of the best!
Thanks, again:)!
This is amazing content. Hopefully I am able to land the PM role I’m applying for.
You’ll land a PM job sooner or later. Just don’t stop applying and going for interview until you get a job offer.
Thanks for these great insights from real world you provide⭐😊 Best of the best
So nice of you, Anna.
I'll start my job as a software project manger on May 8, 2023. I have no background on Software PM, specifically the process and tools that are required but i have been an assistant project officer for more than 4 years. what do i mean is that, it will apply the same principles except for the tools. Wish me luck!
I wish you luck, Joseph! Focus more on leadership and motivation of your team. Together you'll work it all out.
@@ITProjectManagers thanks for the responses and advices. Do you have a discord channel?
Wonderful video! May I know which Project management software you recommend?
It’s a complex question, Clark.
If you want to have a PM software for yourself, I would go with ClickUp or Merlin Project (Mac OS only).
But keep in mind that a project manager usually doesn’t "bring" PM software with themselves into an organization. Organization should provide you with one that works well with their environment.
In the real world, 99% of time I use enterprise level solution like Azure DevOps or JIRA.

Thank you! 😁
Thank you for sharing, god bless you 🙏🏻
You are so welcome!
Just found this. Great approach and love that you have support materials to help!
Thank you and welcome aboard!
I watched it and now want to become a project manager. Should I transition from DevOps into project management?
It depends on what's your goal. I think there's more money in DevOps role right now. But if you feel like you want lead people and make bigger impact - go for the project management.
You are really amazing for explaining this all.
Glad it was helpful, Adam!
Thanks for your insightful content. As a junior developer, I find this tutorial very beneficial. Your 11 years of experience condensed into 45 minutes gives me a valuable perspective on project management.
