26:32 Dynamaxing and Terrastalilzation aren't the same at all (no shade to you). Terrastalization allows you to completely change your Pokemon's type, while still retaining your same type attack bonus on moves of the Pokemon's orginial type. Dynamaxing just beefs up moves/stats.
I personally think that terrastalization should carry on someway or another, it have a pretty impact on how battles are playing and give some uncertain factor to battle and another layer of strategy, while not be complety disrupting for the battle

I asked for a turn, defeated the group's leader with Garchomp (and likely button mashing, it was my first time playing) and just like that I joined the friend group! Now I'm out of school I still don't have the game and I'm still hyped to play against my friends when I see them. Garchomp Duel Phase Combo Back special counter into up strong attack (hold the button down) into back weak attack then release the held strong attack button I don't remember how much damage it does and the combo will usually end early from the game shifting to field phase but hey that'll give you some synergy so its a good thing!
Random encounters and not just throw a pokeball to catch a Pokemon, is really important for me to give me the real Pokemon Blue feeling back in the days. For these reasons Briliant Diamond and Shiney Pearl are the one for me.

Looking to buy a pokemon game for the children for Christmas. Thanks for the reviews. I've only ever played Pokemon Unite online on the switch. Too bad you didn't really give it a go. I really love it!
With most other franchises doing well on switch it's odd to see how every pokemon game on the system is trash, with the exception of legends arceus which I'll never need to play again. Would prefer monolith soft were the pokemon company at this point because gamefreak is utterly incompetent on hardware more powerful than the ds.
I bought Arceus like a year ago and only played 5 min until about a week ago and now I’m at 80 hours on the game and I now how a new massive love for Pokémon again like I did 15 years ago
Hearing about the performance issues with Scarlet and Violet definitely lessened my interest in the game but the ultimate deal breaker for me was not having Legend Arceus's catching mechanics. The fact they added something so fun and so fresh to pokemon as a series and then striped it away like it was some complained about feature in scarlet/violet was a serious bummer and I refuse to play them because of that. Legends Arceus was so good on so many levels and I won't play another pokemon game until one builds on the foundation of that game and those catching mechanics.
i had the opposite opinion, wasnt as much of a fan of legends arceus. i was so relieved when the more traditional style came back for scarlet and violet, but thats probably because i play mainly for the nostalgia so arceus was just too different for me
i respect your opinion, but when i bought arceus because you also ranked it 1st, it's fun and the graphics is so good but i think it depends on the person playing, like me i got bored with arceus and i miss the classic pokemon games where there gym leaders and badges to compete. So my vote will be Pokemon Sword/Shield
HAHAHAHAHHA OMGG SAME!! I bought the pokemon legends just 3 days ago and uhmmm i spent $60 on a game just for me not to play it😭 i just dont see myself playing the game like ok if i completed all the pokemon if i captured them all so what😭 but capturing pokemon is very enjoying

Def want to get Arceus. Would love a new take on Pokemon. I'm 34 so I been playing the same formula since red/blue. And I LOVED Pokemon snap on n64 can't wait to try the new one. Buying a switch lite just to play these games.
Pokémon Arceus is really good I've had 3 switch's and on all of them I've had Pokémon Arceus haven't played any others but plan on getting some more soon.
So I just bought a switch and I've been wanting to try one of the new Pokémon games but because of all the horror stories I've been scared and sadly even after the video I'm not sure which to try first. Legends I'll give a shot soon enough because as you said it just looks so insanely different from anything we've had, also snap I already got immediately because, I mean it's Pokémon snap need I say more. What I have been really itching though is for an actual mainline series entry so if I were to buy it this upcoming week let's say, should I get sword/shield or scarlet violet? They both look kind of... Equally shit? Which one is at least prettier / more comfy to look at and vibe with? Cutest art style, gym design, world design? From what you said in the video I'm guessing scarlet/violet? But it kinda looked worse... Lol Also why bricks lol
I generally agree with your whole list! NEW Pokémon Snap and PLA are my faves. I haven't really cared for any other Pokémon game on the system, as a fan since Gen. 1. But I also haven't played them all! 1. NEW Pokémon Snap (9/10) 2. Pokémon Legends Arceus (8) 3. Pokken Tournament (6-7) 4. Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee (6) 5. Pokémon Sword & Shield (5)
Ok, im gonna be honest here, but I totally disagree with your pokken fighter opinion, imho is one of the hidden jewels on switch and a pretty solid and fun fighter game
I just got a switch and only knew mostly about botw and totk, and thought about Pokémon, I just didn’t know any of them so wanted to study and find one that caught my eye.
Let's be real, anything won't beat Black&White 1&2's story, but i put Legends Arceus there because it's Sinnoh, same reason why i like Platinum (Renegade Platinum specially) so much
OMG only if they made Legends of Arceus 2 players. Thats one of the main reason SV shines in its multiplayer. I love versing my friends or family members and riding together to find the coolest pokemon ever and do raids together. But legends of Arceus looks like it flows better and has its own niche. Also Pokemon SNap OMG It looks so beautiful like you can actually catch pokemon in the forest. Thats what I was hoping SV would look like. Walking in the world with biomes, forests, jungles, Lava rocks caves and be able to catch pokemon that look like it belongs in their habitat. Imagine Physically diving underwater using the move Dive and you actually see fish pokemons like Magikcarp or Electross just swimming around coral reefs, seaweeds and many more underwater Foliage. Rather than just having an open grassland and have Pokémon Walk around randomly. I try to think of Monster Hunter where monsters actually move and climbs trees and fly over the Desert and even dig underground and knock you down creating wormholes. Monster Hunter Ecosystem is what Pokemon should do especially 2023. Otherwise going back to a Nostalgic version of pokemon will do me. At this point with your review I am considering LOA or Pokemon Snap. These two look so well made. I enjoyed Mystery Dungeon as well. As a kid it felt so spooky because I was actually being a Pokemon and actually having to fight other scary pokemons like Charizard, I think by memory. One more thing Pokken Tournament DX is actually one of my favourite fighting games it actually reminds me of the anime because pokemon don't fight side to side. They actually move around in the Arena Just like when Pikachu fought Mewtwo. Pokken Tournament actually requires skills. I'm glad its different to tekken since its Pokemon not streets fighting type of people lol. Great Review nothing less!!
I'm getting a switch and want to get one of the pokemon game since the last version I played was Gold/Silver way back. This is the video I needed to see. I'll definitely be getting the Arceus game. Thanks! P.S. Bricks!
I feel like pokken tournament might be fun for me. My friend and I like to play fighting games together from Injustice 2, Marvel vs Capcom infinite to Smash bros ultimate or even nickelodeon brawl. Just seems like something we'd have fun with. We're not hard-core fighting players. We'd get destroyed in any fighter online lol but playing against each other is always fun.
To me, it felt like the last 2 levels of PLA were rushed. Not as interesting or complex as the first level. And I didn't like how skewed the damage calculationsfelt battling. Too fast with levels not seeming to matter much. The agile/power options were good tho. But I loved the innovation and catching mechanics. It's an 8/10 for me but the framework is there for an absolutely excellent game if they can up the presentation and build on their ideas. It still deserves top spot on this list, like you have it.
Thats what I hate at S/V... Shiny hunting ist useless because they are not Special anymore. Lets Go was great. Shiny hunting was fun, Not 2 hard but still rewarding.

@@SoggySlopster right
@@SoggySlopster like all the pokemon games but they really dropped the ball on gen 9 scarlet and violet look and feel like crap they should have stuck to arceus style as apposed to what they went with for gen 9 or even modeling it after bdsp would have been better
Just go play platinum then?
@@chiefreefer0420ngl just bought the game a week back and it's not nearly as bad as the internet made it out to be. The graphics aren't amazing but I don't care too much for them when the actual gameplay was pretty fun ngl. If you are a stickler for graphics then I guess I cna understand not getting the game but yeah
I really enjoyed Sword and Shield, but I did feel it could've been much better. Where were the Elite 4?? I didn't love the tournament and the region wasn't great, but I did enjoy the DLC so much! Can't wait to continue Scarlet/Violet.
shield was so good, it was just way too short. i beat it in 10 hours and there’s basically no post game
I hate its tundra dlc it was just so bad and sadly I never tried it's other dlc even though I downloaded it and when I wanted to try it I got to know that I deleted the sword game and sword was not that great I am so greatful that I didn't payed money and got it free in my pc but I still hate the fact that it was one of fastest and easiest game but it literally costed me 14 GB storage which is too much for a Pokemon game.
Actually I have 5 games 4 are the latest and each for free in pc and the fact that I don't even have a switch😑.
So you just basically said the key aspects of the game were all bad but you loved the DLC
@@oscarzxn4067 tundra was bad ,Isle was ok
I love the feel of Pokémon unite Pokémons though... If you play just for fun you'll get a lot of it I would say idk play with a friend or your partner.. you can really have fun with it but your ranking still makes total sense I would say still need to play them all :p
I love having to learn the moves of the bosses and having to adapt to them . A challenge but not too too challenging
Great video dude, I haven’t kept up with Pokémon since XYZ. It’s cool to get a run down of what’s happened.
I wish I understood why everyone hated Sword/Shield. I'm a Gen 1er and honestly, sword and shield were fun to me. Scarlet and Violet disappointed me and let's not even talk about the diamond and pearl remakes.
Yeah I love sword and shield I was proud and thankful for them .... They're completely great Pokemon games maybe the so called fans are just picky .???
Pokemon Sword was my top game until Pokemon Violet. Violet took what Sword had and made it better. Took me awhile to admit it.
Keep in mind this dude doesn’t play or seem to like Pokémon
Bricks, nice video very informational. Just got a new switch (late but better then never) and I haven't played Pokemon since the gameboy color and I'm trying to get back into it. I didn't know which one to choose but this helped a lot.
I personally think that terrastalization should carry on someway or another, it have a pretty impact on how battles are playing and give some uncertain factor to battle and another layer of strategy, while not be complety disrupting for the battle
but both are still ass compared to mega evolutions
@@FryJayPhilip megas are cool and my favorite, but the other two are more functionally exciting and strategic. IMO I think objectively Terrastalization is the best, followed by Dynamax, and then Megas. Megas are my favorite though
Even if i don't agree with a lot of the list, I still respect ur opinion.
hey bricks, whare would you put dectective pikachu returns? i personally really love it and for me its maybe even in my top 5 pokemon switch games.
Finally someone that puts Sword/Shield where it belongs. In the trashcan. Arceus, Letsgo, BDSP.... are all so much better.
Sword and shield is mad underated tbf the dlc Carry’s but it’s better then just having a bad game
The game is very empty and Incomplete. We shouldn’t need a DLC to make a shit game feel better.
It's overrated
See this is why you domt base ur purchases off what others think lol. I bought pokemon violet and have had a blast playing it so far and it runs perfect for me atleast. Haven't come across any issues
Ive heard violet has slightly less issues than scarlet.
Whoooooooooooo Pokken! I was at school and heard some other teens were playing "pokemon" I went over to have a look and it was a fighting game on the switch. I asked for a turn, defeated the group's leader with Garchomp (and likely button mashing, it was my first time playing) and just like that I joined the friend group! Now I'm out of school I still don't have the game and I'm still hyped to play against my friends when I see them.
Garchomp Duel Phase Combo
Back special counter into up strong attack (hold the button down) into back weak attack then release the held strong attack button
I don't remember how much damage it does and the combo will usually end early from the game shifting to field phase but hey that'll give you some synergy so its a good thing!
Bricks! This was such a fun watch thank you for compiling this list
Why is everyone saying bricks
Thanks for your work on this. its because of your video that i saved a bundle in buying titles for my boy. lol
Random encounters and not just throw a pokeball to catch a Pokemon, is really important for me to give me the real Pokemon Blue feeling back in the days. For these reasons Briliant Diamond and Shiney Pearl are the one for me.
Sword and Shield were my favorite pokemon games on the switch to date I was never as captured by the other ones as much as how sword caught me.
Same Sword and Shield are fantastic
i do not agree that sword and shield is boring i think its good they dont just rely on the main character at least to the end allowing you to focus on your Journey its how i see it i played both SW&SH twice each so i must of liked it but i have played all games from Leaf green & Fire Red and have enjoyed them all.
i will Agree that New pokemon Snap is Great awesome even
i am not big on the mystery Dungeon but i have watched some one play the new remake i did not mind watching it..
I really Enjoyed Arceus
i am enjoying Scarlet and Violet alot as well.
i played both Pokemon go & Pokemon Unite they were decent i play them real occasionally now.
no game is perfect as long as they are playable and fun i am good tbh.
i dont play to many MOBAs my self i made a exception for Pokemon Go but i played Unite on SWITCH.
pokemon is pokemon for me if it improves and make changes its all good.
tf
I would say sword and sheild is better than brilliant diamond and shining pearl. But that’s because I had a really good time playing it
Quite the opposite for me. Sword and shield along with scarlet are by far worst games ever
Yeah the Diamond and pearl remakws look like dog shit, the 3ds games look better. Scarlet and violet also look horrible.
All three games are horrible. Legends Arceus and Let’s Go are the only Pokémon games I’d recommend on the switch.
Playing Pokuhmon, catching Pokuhmon, battling Pokuhmon..throwing Pokuhballs.
Pokuhmon.
Would it kill you to know I have a degree in communication? And that my job is completely centered around communication? lmao
@@TotallyTubularJonathan hahaha!! man I can respect that. And thanks to your detailed video I’ve done determined which Pokémon games on the switch are worth me spending my time on, so yeah thanks for the video
I hate random encounters because I like to see which Pokémon it is so if I wanna catch it then I will go if not then I can go to next area quick - the amount of times I have to run away in the caves because I get random encounters is annoying - I don’t go into cave to fight I go into it to get to next place fast -random encounters slows the game
BUY REPEL GEEZ
I have Arceus and I love it highly recommend!!! I wish there were more Pokemon games like this and I wish there was more story lines but I love the game!!!! Also I want more customization 😭
But yeah I think it’s the best switch game unless u like other things
I also like legend of Zelda and stuff but yeah!
Wow I really appreciate your reviews and stating all these critiques of each game throughly,.
Lately I've been thinking of getting a pokemon game and I was torn between SV and arecus, I never played a single pokemon game in my whole life even though I'm the biggest fan of pokemon ever since I was a kid but I was only interested in the anime series, the movies, merch, real life cards but NEVER the games but I thought that I should give it try especially with these so many options in the switch :)
bro your literally me right now but right now am thinking of getting sv for my first pokemon game
@@DYAHUNTER me too I will definitely get SV !! I've read so many positive reviews about the game after the recent updates especially the ones that fixed the major issues and people seems to genuinely thinks it's a great game and tbh I prefer to get a game that's still getting updates and improvements over a game that doesn't
Pokémon quest was my first game and I still love it no matter what
i have a feeling you did not get everything out of BDSP that you could have. It has SO MUCH to do.. I am on hour 110😂 as someone who played the original, I LOVE the remake
Sword and shield are top three best Main Line games and add so much quality of life and I recommend it to everyone
Looking to buy a pokemon game for the children for Christmas. Thanks for the reviews. I've only ever played Pokemon Unite online on the switch. Too bad you didn't really give it a go. I really love it!
I absolutely love Violet and Scarlet and with the few updates so far it’s getting better
Worth picking up ?
@@jackstamford9937 if u can handle 15 fps
They updated it?
Can confirm.
Hated it at first, now it's in my top 4 Pokemon games.
Nah m8 this game fucking sucks
Which ratings are better for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet and Pokemon Legends Arceus and which ones are recommended?
Legends Arceus was so good on so many levels and I won't play another pokemon game until one builds on the foundation of that game and those catching mechanics.
your so right. i feel cheated
Same. exact reason. Boycott until they improve on Arceus
I like both but arceus was so much better and held me longer than any other
i had the opposite opinion, wasnt as much of a fan of legends arceus. i was so relieved when the more traditional style came back for scarlet and violet, but thats probably because i play mainly for the nostalgia so arceus was just too different for me
u said it, you are just blinded by nostalgia lmao@@raelol1499
i respect your opinion, but when i bought arceus because you also ranked it 1st, it's fun and the graphics is so good but i think it depends on the person playing, like me i got bored with arceus and i miss the classic pokemon games where there gym leaders and badges to compete.
They updated scarlet and violet and now it has better performance and not glitchy and clunky and it is actually getting better and the new updated made the game less of a glitch and I find it to be the best game out there.
This was the comment I was looking for lmao 😂
@@D2hitmanisboss It is good the game got more love than hate because they solved every problem that made the game "hated" and now it is getting more love than hate. thank you Nintendo so much for saving a game that now regains its popularity.
I've only played Sword or Shield for a little while it's my sister's game, and then I ended up getting violet for Christmas, and I just finished the main story plot, and its May 18th 2023 it's taken me a while to complete.
Bricks. Loved the video. Had to subscribe
Bricks, good video, just discovered your channel. Subscribed and like, thanks for your efforts, they have not been wasted.
Imagine a mainline Pokémon game looking like Pokémon Snap. Give me that, let me play it for like 80 hours and then you can let me die in peace.
I been in decision on if I should get scarlet and violet or legends arceus bricks
Bricks
I LOVED Let's Go Eevee, but I understand why some don't. I also love Arceus and agree with it being the top!!
Lmfao i love sword and shield. Most people donr even realize its a reference to legend of zelda.
It was like a universe parallel to breath of rhe wild. Hence the name sword and shield. It was actually a clever cross reference. Online battles and trades are fun ; its a great pokemon game i even like rhe gigantamax cave . Being able to go get some legendaries .!!! 💖🔥🔥💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
I have started building a nintendo collection starting with the oled switch. Im buying these games so i can play on my free time and travel back to when i was a kid yes they may have problems but to be able to experience how the look now versus when i was a kid in the 90’s its a blast
I liked Pokemon Sword /Shield
Just imagine, a mainline game that performs like Legends of Arceus, is open World like S&V, Mega X and Y evolution, catching Pokémon’s like in Arceus where you don’t have to battle them. A deeam
That'd be amazing. Give it the walking with pokémon system Let's go Pikachu have and the emotional story from V/S and you have perfection
Bro doesn’t like anything 😭
poken dx is an amazing game for me
3:42 They do have some Johto mons & Sandile, but apparently, they’re only available in China for some reason!
Hello there! Planning on getting my 8year old his first pokemon game, he loves pokemon and I think it’s time! Was planning on getting S&Sh, what do you recommend?
I doubt you'll see this, but Let's Go would probably be the best starting point! It introduces a lot of the pokemon mechanics in a pretty simple way and he'd probably enjoy it. If he likes Let's Go, then look at the other main series games - I think starting with one of the other games could be a bit overwhelming
Legends arceus is so addictive. Scarlet and violet is fantastic as well.
What about the fps drops and lag. I'm thinking of buying a switch oled pokemon edition and pokemon violet but I'm really anxious 🥺
@@iamthenewblxck SV were fixed.
The only lag I experienced was during a sidequest (the Sunflora one) and during the lake part, which both are brief parts.
@@iamthenewblxckdont listen to the critics..it was all okay overall..
@AF-sh1qk sadly i haven't got my switch oled yet so i havent tried any pokemon games yet 🤕
ARCEUS is great
So I just bought a switch and I've been wanting to try one of the new Pokémon games but because of all the horror stories I've been scared and sadly even after the video I'm not sure which to try first. Lol
Also why bricks lol
Scarlet/Violet is genuinely not that bad; it's a pretty decent game in my opinion, better than X and Y at least.
I generally agree with your whole list! NEW Pokémon Snap and PLA are my faves. I haven't really cared for any other Pokémon game on the system, as a fan since Gen. 1. But I also haven't played them all!
1. NEW Pokémon Snap (9/10)
2. Pokémon Legends Arceus (8)
3. Pokken Tournament (6-7)
4. Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee (6)
5. Pokémon Sword & Shield (5)
Can you give us SV score too please :L :L
Ok, im gonna be honest here, but I totally disagree with your pokken fighter opinion, imho is one of the hidden jewels on switch and a pretty solid and fun fighter game
Bricks 👏 👏 👏 Nice to see a fresh review of these games
Why is everyone saying bricks
I really enjoyed sword and shield and don’t get why people hate it I also like pikachu and eevee
They can't even give you a good answer as to why 😅🤣😂😭😭😭😭
I just got a switch and only knew mostly about botw and totk, and thought about Pokémon, I just didn’t know any of them so wanted to study and find one that caught my eye.
Sword and shield is a great game . !! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise 🔥🔥💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
Let's be real, anything won't beat Black&White 1&2's story, but i put Legends Arceus there because it's Sinnoh, same reason why i like Platinum (Renegade Platinum specially) so much
my favorite pokémon games are SoulSilver, Platinum and…..Shield…
Nice Video ... I Just Want A Poken Tournament 2 :)
Solid list. The only thing I disagree is that BDSP is higher than Mystery Dungeon
"They're really just interacting with the world!" *Throws 15 apples at pokemon with 0 reaction*
Scarlet/Violet looks like a PS2 game to me lol, and I actually like the game a lot. No way does it look like a PS4 game imo.
Finally someone says it. Sword and Shield were just bland. Not an enjoyable experience at all.
I disagree with bdsp being this high but otherwise pretty solid list
Same, mystery dungeon was significantly better
I'm getting a switch and want to get one of the pokemon game since the last version I played was Gold/Silver way back. This is the video I needed to see. I'll definitely be getting the Arceus game.
Thanks!
P.S. Bricks!
I feel the same way but the last Pokémon game I really played was Red and Blue. 😂
Why does everyone say bricks
ARCEUS is great especially the battle gameplay
Pokémon Puzzle League on 64 was so dope
I’m super old school….played when Pokémon first came out in the mid/late 90’s. I just want a remake of red/blue or gold/silver for switch lol
I actually really like unite
They haven’t made a good Pokémon game since X & Y.
Bricks! I got Pokémon let’s go Pikachu because of this video! Thanks 🙌
It still deserves top spot on this list, like you have it.
thank you, for helping me chose where to throw my money at!
Just bought Legends Arceus earlier, looking forward to it
Pokémon scarlet and violet is only laggy and stuff because they released it too soon, but it’s still a good game.
Anyone else thinks that Pokémon let’s go pikachu is the best
Fax
Yes. Something about the Pokémon’s in the Kanto region just keeps me hooked. The other Pokémon designs in the other regions just look poor and shitty
It wasn’t great on first playthrough but when returning and replaying them it’s was apparent they were amazing!
It’s my favorite for shiny hunting by a mile, S/V is easier but less rewarding
Thats what I hate at S/V... Shiny hunting ist useless because they are not Special anymore. Lets Go was great. Shiny hunting was fun, Not 2 hard but still rewarding.
Rescue Team DX below BDSP and SV is an absolute joke. 😂 Also New Pokémon Snap has no business being below Legends Arceus.
If I never played Legends again, I wouldn’t be upset. It wasn’t a bad game just not my style. I personally loved Sword and Shield. Let’s Go exists I guess. Despite the bugs, scarlet and violet probably rank near the top of my favorite pokemon games ever.
I only want a pokemon game with OG pokemons, maybe gen 2 aswell. Anything further have no interest at all.. So I think Pokemon Lets go eevee is for me
