the only negative of black and white is that many of the pokemon are terrible to me. the 3 apes, sok throw, even the starters are totally mid at best. kelfki, vanillux, just bad, bad bad. tons of good ones too though
@@ChrisMS0815 well that kind of stopped me from buying the games. i was already out of my "pokemon is not cool anymore" phase and might have given it a shot if i didn't see so many weird pokemon and 0 i recognized, so i restarted my pokemon fever with X/Y
Hot take but I like the six gen exp share, it makes gridding for a balance team much easier and simpler. Yeah it does make the game easier but sometimes Pokemon is a game where you just chill and play for fun
I agree! For me just like how it’s nice to have it be easier I wish they allowed it to be harder too. I just want a difficult selection that is balanced lol :D
I don't have a problem with people enjoying how it is now. I have a problem with how I don't have a choice to disable it gen 8 onwards. Similarly to how they removed the ability to play on set mode in gen 9. They seem intent on forcing players to have the easiest experience possible against their will and making it an extremely tedious process to give yourself any challenge. Almost like they're punishing you for not just taking the easy mode and resisting the way they want you to play. Next they might make gimmicks auto activate and force you to watch your Pokémon steamroll everything with them lol.
If the games are usually too short for that. Part of making the old pokémon games feel longer was having to grind. But since the newer games are ballpark give or take roughly the same length, having EXP share makes the game too easy and on top of that beating through the campaign in a day or two
One thing to point out is that "Too much water" doesn't just apply to the areas you go to. It also applies to the type of pokemon you find. The abundance of water types compared to others hinders team building quite a bit.
One thing comes to mind that they could have done to make omega ruby.Alpha sapphire, a bit better, would have been for the water areas to have mr briney and peeko be more available for fast travel .@@ItisJG
But they should focus on just 1 game, they are releasing too many games BDSP was a fail as remake. Current leaks suggest a legends game and Gen 10 are on the cards.
I can't believe 2 of the BEST features of Pokemon Black & White weren't even mentioned: 1) the music changes both whenever u get into Red HP and when the Gym Leader is down to his/her last Pokemon. And 2) the REPEL feature where when your steps ran out it asked if you want to Spray another Repel.
How do you mention the best parts of gen 5 and not mention the beautiful animated sprites? I mean they didn't all hit, but overall it's the best Pokemon has ever looked.
You've got to be kidding me. You're probably thinking only about the from sprites. Look at the back sprites, specially during battle where they are pixelated. And come back here saying they are beautiful. If you still think that you're out of your mind! Sorry. 😂
0:57 that's an unconfirmed THEORY perpetuated by the same people who think mew was under a truck. gen 1 is not dark bro, or at least isn't not any darker than later games like blue rescue team and explorers of sky and silver and black and white and probably some other spin-off we all forgot about
@@dreamgood130 isn't the professor of gen 9 canonically dead and the version of them you fight an AI recreation and then what's his name morns their death Didn't let's go how this same plot point the whole dead cubone thing and since let's go is canonically a sequel to red/blue/yellow it means they intentionly re-did this plot point in modern day (idk does 2019 count as modern day) And no they're not remakes they're sequels if they were remakes we wouldn't be able to fight red and blue because we would be playing as red lol
@@dreamgood130What are you on? Annihilape is literally a dead Primeape. Grevard is literally a dead dog. Are using dead pokemon not dark enough for you?
modern games shining away from dark aspects, aren't we forgetting arvin's story in scarlet and voilet. Loses his parents and then has to go through the trauma of watching his best friend slowly fade away until we make him better.
If you played Pokemon since Red and Blue you would be happy until gen 4 and maybe 5 but after that it’s all downhill after than. The games just don’t feel like a challenge anymore
The 3d games are objectively mostly godawful and terribly made with no effort or care; they poured theri heart and soul into gen 5 and it didnt sell well so now they build off of the downgrades that gen 6 introduced (which, gen 6 is actually incredible overall with amazing gameplay and a seriously beautiful region in Kalos, and Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire are PEAK remakes up there with HG/SS and FR/LG). Sadly many newgenners take the slop without complaints.
Personally I got to gen 3 then thought who ever designed the pokemon got lazy there was maybe 5-10 out of the full pokedex that acctually looked OK the rest were terrible and the starters wow they were horrendous yeah some may be good battle wise but the designs who wants to walk around with a orange baby chicken or a baby blue penguin ffs And no disrespect to the person making the video but the guy sounds exactly like my brother in law realistically yes played red and blue and silver and gold but wasn't bang into it wen they came out and missed the essence of what pokemon was back then.. and that's the issue I have 31 year old and can't even look at anything pokemon related these days they decided to turn a sword and sheild into a pokemon and then a brush how sloppy can you litterally get and it looks more kiddie and less realistic now than it ever felt
Idk why people hate Pokémon ORAS, it was such a good remake It brought back mega evolution from X and Y And they massively redeemed Sceptile for Treecko fans by giving him a bad ass mega form that turns him INTO A FRICKING DRAGON! and made it a lot more stronger as a Pokémon than the original Hoenn games that made him useless compared to Blaziken and Swampert It had the Eon flute which helps the user not waste HM Fly on a Pokémon’s move-set It had a bunch of legendarys from Johto, Sinnoh and Unova coming out of Hoopa Rings for crying out loud And Delta Emerald episode is one of the best post game story’s in a Pokémon remake ever.
Oras and bdsp suffer from the same problem. I enjoyed playing both but these remakes are half assed. They don't feel complete. Why remake Ruby/sapphire and diamond/pearl instead of emerald/platinum? Why leave out all the quality of life changes, improvements, and added content? This is why people hate these games.
@@2810Mad Because remakes are aimed more for newer players. And newer players wouldn't know much about third versions or care for them especially as it is not easy to get those games these days. It makes sense to remake the first games of each generation because they are the first. The only third version that got remade was Yellow but that was a special case that involved bringing Go fans to main series games
@@--julian_ it is called having an opinion. You don't have to agree with it. We all have our own preferences to remakes, third versions, sequels and main series games in general. We won't always share the same likes or dislikes.
You should have given some recognition to not only how nostalgic the route tracks and themes in general sounded in generation 2 but how game freak over in Japan probably composed their best ever melodies on a pokemon game all on the Gameboy back in the 90s, for me that would be their best feature ever.
That is a really good point but for me the best soundtrack is diamond and pearls, it is just so atmospheric all the way through. But the Gameboy tracks especially in Crystal were incredible :D
Pokémon let’s go is so underrated. Hm replacement, follow/ride Pokémon, overworld Pokémon, shiny mechanics, and the postgame battle with red are all great. The visual quality however, puts it in the top tier of switch Pokémon games imo, it’s not just the overworld, but battles actually take place where they are started and each gym is unique. Most people’s biggest gripe, that waving a joycon around was “forced” on them, is unfair because catching mechanics in handheld (the only way to play a Pokémon game imo) are so easy. You rarely have to aim with the thumb stick or tilt the screen. It’s usually press A to catch. That being said the game is certainly not without its faults: the rival, the fact that the sevi islands were gone, and the absence of EVs and held items was all disappointing. In addition the ability to access your box anywhere and the constant exp share took the difficulty out of the game, but those mechanics have been in most of the recent releases. The downsides are rough, but they aren’t bad enough to keep it out of the top spot for Pokémon games on switch imo. Legends Arceus was great at first, but it grows tiresome grinding for materials to craft Jet balls and then missing half your throws because they bounce off rocks and ground that aren’t even in the way is frustrating, especially when you need to catch every Pokémon 20 times to fill up the dex which is the major goal of the game (there are no gyms). Not to mention that the world feels completely empty outside of the Pokémon scattered across it. I won’t get into SWSH or SCVI because I don’t feel like my disappointment needs to be explained. Really, my ideal future generation of Pokémon game would look much like let’s go but have options for difficulty, exp share, controllers, etc. and would have wild Pokémon battles, limited box access, more post game content, EVs, and held items. I’d rather have a polished experience than another empty joyless open world.
Lets go has one of the worst rivals its just castrated Blue, the Sevii Islands are gone which removes how it sets up the sequel games, They replaced Red with making a new, useless, pointless character that takes all of his canonical and great achievements that make him the iconic trainer we all know and love, and they FINALLY made Green into a character only to make her a mere NPC and relegate her into the end of the game. The catching mechanics is garbage and way too easy when it took a bit more intricacy in the much better 2D games (Gens 2-5). Having easy mechanics sucks and makes it annoying. Terrible experience, horrible replacement characters, missed potential, and though it looks decent, FireRed/leafGreen and even the jumbled together Gen 1 (which is literally only a 7.3/10 for me) are WAY better.
@ Sounds like you agree on most of my negative points. To be fair, every modern rival has been awful and catching Pokémon is easy in every game, in 2D it just takes more steps before you throw the ball. Besides, catching in Let’s go it’s certainly not easier than in PLA. But in the end, I agree that there is a lot of missed potential and that it’s certainly not a replacement to FR/LG but I think it has its place as a more relaxed, visually pleasing, and faster paced experience. I still revisit both games. Imo being the best Pokémon game on switch isn’t setting very high bar
Here's some of my hot takes of low points for some of the generations: I found Gen 5 annoyed me nearly as much as Gen 7 for being stopped every 5 seconds to be exposited at. I think that was the point where they should've ditched the silent protagonist trope. Gen 4s honey trees are satanic and the bane of my existence. Gen 1s cave obsession is an underrated issue with those games Gen 6 choices for who received mega evolutions was disappointing Gen 9s towns are pathetic and forgettable
@vishuindia1113 that plus the Pokémon that really were doing fine, without Megas, getting them anyway. Great feature, badly implemented. People hate on dynamax, but at least every Pokémon could do it
I like the slow HP bar in Platinum and below, for some reason I was always fascinated by the bar going slow depending on how high their HP stat is, maybe I’m weird lol
Level scaling in an open world is trash, period. It breaks any feeling of progression. No reason to explore, everything is at your level, no suprise like "damn, I shouldn't go there" or trying to go to a harder zone to level up faster. Nope. Everything scales with you. Trash at its finest.
Yeah I see so many people talk about scaling for some reason without realizing how boring it would be. Being able to go absolutely anywhere and not having exploration in later parts of the game makes open world feel really small. If every pokemon you encountered leveled up with your gym badges or something (level 15 can spawn with 0 badges, level 25 can spawn with 1, level 35 with 2, etc) it would make the entire game feel boring after you’ve explored the whole map. Not saying Scarlet and Violet did it right though for sure. They need to take a look at something like Elden Ring, which is a fantastic open world game that doesn’t have any scaling. Environments are large and visually distinct, and the first time you run into a place like Caelid you get stomped by difficult enemies and realize that it’s a future area to explore, not for you at a low level. Throughout the entire game you’re exploring new areas and constantly being amazed. And for people good at the game, they can go through the whole game quickly at their faster pace while new players can work slowly, even without a “change difficulty” mode. I can see a world where Scarlet and Violet has no scaling but didn’t need it and nobody complained, but unfortunately they didn’t do the open-linear path very well.
The worst thing about every pokemon game is that Game Freak are very anti consumer. No game had the franchise ability to "catch em all". That's the worst part about this franchise hands down.
At least prior to Sword and Shield, we could turn off the xp share. Now they don't even let us do that. And Scarlet/Violet even got rid of set mode in options which I will never understand
Make gym leaders match your level. They have different teams based upon how many badges you already own. Would make replaying more valuable and also wouldn't hurt certain starters in the early game. Also make a difficulty selection that actually works
@@XI-Daybreak It costs them money to upkeep them and at this point there is no financial benefit whatsoever to keep them up. @@DoodMcAwesome The Raticate thing is made up. Gen 1 was just a barebones RPG, even Team Rocket didn't have any real stake in the story. FRLG and Gen 2 gave them more depth, but only a little bit. If anything, stealing Pokémon is basic AF. Especially compared to literally freezing your Pokémon because you have attachment issues or an entire village blacklisting their hero out of sheer stupidity and trying to kill you as a result.
@@SilverDrive92 yeah it feels like most (if not all?) gens after 1 are darker than it. Not that Pokémon is ever really that dark or gritty of a game series, but the storylines definitely got more darker tinged especially with the plots of the enemy teams. Something I actually thought was refreshing about Team Yell in gen 8 was that they were a much more subdued team, really just like sports hooligans instead of actual threats which contrasted with the increasingly more villainous and over the top teams in the previous games. That said, I enjoyed most of them and their plots, especially gen 4 and 5, it was just neat to have them step back in that game. Plus Team Yell is just so fun as a concept.
@@DoodMcAwesome It's actually Team Star for me that I find refreshing. Team Yell didn't really do much so I don't count them as an evil team. In my opinion, Team Plasma was the peak of villainy in Pokémon. Because they disguised themselves as saviors via gaslighting when they really wanted to take over the region.
Worst part is how babified the story and gameplay has gotten. Braindead easy gameplay and lackluster stories. Theres’s wayyy too many pokemon ‘monsters’ (and a lot of them suck), they should have stopped making new ones after Diamond/Pearl/Platinum and just focused on story, gameplay, game modes (platinum had a lot of fun to be had after beating it), difficulty challenges, multiplayer, and graphics. exp share and flat out telling you what moves were effective or not just made the game pointless to keep going.
I LOVED this video!! Very nostalgic! This year is my 20-year point of playing Pokemon games! I have such fond memories attached to almost every game in the franchise 🥹 I know that it had a myriad of problems, but scarlet and violet have been some of my favorite games and I’ve logged the most hours into it since gen 5! I don’t know what it is, but I just keep going! The shiny hunting, the raids, the open world, the DLC.. I loved it all! lol I’m excited for the future of the games!
I still think, white and black do have the most potential of all games. They have a reasonable plot with a darker theme, the best villian team since rocket to this day, and even the region locked pokedex is appealing to me while I also like the more open dex in black and white 2. The pokemon game I enjoyed the most probably was Sun and Moon, because this was the time when I really got into online battles. Heart Gold and soul silver could be mentioned for the most content, considering these are the only games that have more than 1 region. Best feature would go to gen 6 games, bc come on, mega evolutions are very cool. Fire red and leaf green for the nostalgia. gen 4 for style and pokemon league. All other games have massive flaws in terms of graphics and performance in my opinion. Legends of Arceus needs to be credited for the unique concept. *Forgot about gen 3, well, had a lot of fun with it too.
0:56 A fan theory does not make Red and Blue darker than the game where a major plot point is finding out an important character was dead the whole time lmao. Could've easily brought up the ghost Marowak, but you went for the Raticate Blue 100% boxed because he's trying to build a strong team
Raticate being replaced is a sign that Blue is growing as a trainer, recognizing that some Pokémon will hold back the team in the long run and thus should be swapped out for better ones. It's organic storytelling.
Blue is still beloved as a rival and character by the fanbase, same with Silver though slightly less. Both ahve amazing arcs and I prefer them to the overly-obnoxiously nice ones.
Such a good video man. I recently bought a switch and I was really hesitant on wether or not to buy some of the pokemon titles, but your video really helped and it’s so well made and edited that it was a joy to watch. Keep going.
This is ABSOLUTELY one of the BEST Pokemon videos on TH-cam. I played every Pokemon main series game up to date and I strongly agree with everything you say about each game. You are spot on correct with the games that are at the top of the list and the worse ones. Even though, some people going to have their own opinions, this video speaks for the majority of the Pokemon fan base. You are a real Pokemon OG.
Pokémon sun and moon were my first video games ever, I played through the entire game never running, I didn’t know how to, seeing you point out the no running shoes made me remember that and how it didn’t matter to us as kids, it’s funny how we change
I like both Unova and Alola games equally, I like their iterations in telling stories, the concept, the world building of the region, the Pokémon and even the characters. Both sides also gave us the best fanservices ever made with Pokémon World Champion and Rainbow Rocket Episode, but if I’m being honest, those 4 aren’t exactly my favorite games either, I like them all but equally, equally in 3rd rank Sword & Shield is my most favorite one of all, sure it has lots of issues (with lack of side quests being the worst to me, not the dexit), but putting all biases aside, Galar is the most aesthetically pleasing region, its gimmick (Dynamaxing) is a pretty balanced if not the most balanced of all, you can use it both offensively and defensively, the Rotom Bike also feels so much better transportation than riding a Pokémon, sure it can’t jump like Acro Bike but it can dash through water. I like exploring SwSh games especially in the Crown Tundra DLC, say all what you want about these games, I like it the most and you can’t change my mind, bet you can’t find sponsorship in your regions huh also Legends Arceus is my second favorite and ORAS + Crystal ties for my 4th position with HGSS being my 6th
@0:53, the modern Pokemon games have gotten pretty dark in scarlet violet and PLA. Sada and Turo straight up die in those games and then you have to see how Arvin deals with losing his parents. Kieran has an interesting arc too with how he deals with his issues.
loved sw/sh and also love the region, I think people jumped on the bandwagon with the hate because of the national dex issue - but crown tundra was so fun and dynamax raids were such a great addition
I feel like the fact that Red, Blue, and Yellow were held together with hopes, dreams, duct tape, and a whole lot of phlegm (they ran out of tape), at least deserves a mention.
I liked the fact that you could only get Unova Pokémon during the main story. It just makes sense that if you’re in Unova you should only be able to catch Unova Pokémon
Except gen 3 was first dexitsituation. I shouldn't need to buy peripheral accessories, other consoles, and their games just to get my favorites. There was no way in RSE for me to get an espeon if those were only games i had access to
Thats the funny thing about Team Flare, i dont kno whymany elderly pokemon players say is the worst team, when in third gen both teams only wanted more of something without thinking of implications. Ofc what make Flare a dissapointing one are some of their methods and the fact they doesnt seem to feel well stablished, as their motivation to do what they do are pretty interesting. The idea of wanting to preserve the beauty and youth of our soroundings is a pretty solid one and even kinda phylosofical, but they never get that far with that
According to the Pokemon leaks, Pokemon Legends Arceus was supposed to have voice acting but they weren't able to. Probably because they were pressured to release it as soon as possible.
13 reasons why BDSP are the WORST remakes of all time: 1. Faithfulness: Unlike other remakes, BDSP literally copy/pastes 90% of diamond/pearl(2006). You cannot copy almost everything from a 2006 game.. (Remember its a remake not a remaster!). Almost everything is copied: All dialogs, the storyline, the chibi art style, the national dex, old pokemon encounters and even the Poketch were copy & pasted to this game. Pokemon games have been improved in the past years and had many quality of life changes like 3D art style, overworld Pokemon encounters and reusable TMs. None of these changes were adapted to the game which is just sad. This game is too faithful and faithful sounds more like a excuse for lazyness. 2. Not-Platinum-Based: So they copy & pasted 90% from the old Sinnoh game but not based on Platinum? Diamond & Pearl had several weaknesses and Platinum fixed many of them and included many Quality of Life changes. Here are some Platinum improvements over Diamond/Pearl: It extends the storyline with additional content, new dialogs, new characters like Charon and a new map Distortion world (loved it). The rival was a bit too weak in Diamond/Pearl which was fixed in Plat. The Poketch has a reverse Button. It has the battle frontier. And finally: the Sinnoh dex which was baaad in Dia/Pearl was fixed. The bad sinnoh dex in dia/pearl has only very few Fire Pokemon (very weird). Gym leaders were forced to use weird mons in the main game like Electric gym leader using Octillery or IceType gym leader using Medicham (WTF? Despite Sinnoh having enough Ice/Electric mons) and also many sinnoh mons were restricted to the postgame. Thats means many of the favourite sinnoh mons cannot be used in your team for the main story. But Platinum fixed this issue and created a NEW sinnoh dex which fixed all these issues which made the main story like a sinnoh game. ALL of these great changes of Platinum where NOT included in BDSP. This means BDSP uses the OLD sinnoh dex, OLD dialogs, OLD storyline, NO new character like Charon, NO distortion world and NO battle frontier. That makes BDSP a worse Sinnoh remake than Platinum which was released in 2008. (Imagine a 2008 DS game of the same Region beats you in ALL aspects. WTF) 3. EXP-Share & Friendship-System: One of the most hated features is the EXP-Share system which often leads to WAY more exp than in the past games. In my opinion, the EXP-Share is not too bad. BUT diamond/pearl were not designed to be played with the new EXP-Share system. So if you include an EXP-Share system, you have to increase all levels of the pokemon (from opponent). But they didnt which makes the difficulty of this game too easy.Basically, my whole team was too oveleveled. And the friendship-system is the worst luck-based system i ever saw. A feature that increases the Critical hit-chance,removes paralysis, lets me dodge 100% accurate moves and even lets me survive moves with 1HP. WTF did you smoke gamefreak? And the worst is that, you cannot make any of these optional. Because of that many players who love to do a nuzzlock in Sinnoh, prefer the old DS games. 4. No Innovation: This game not only copy & pastes the majority of its content, it adds nothing new to the game. Lets review some good remakes: HeartGold/SoulSilver (HG/SS) were Gen 2 remakes and included some storyline from Crystal and added many new stuff like the pokeathlon, battle frontier (from sinnoh), gen 1 map/storyline, a complete national dex and the pokewalker. HG/SS were not copy & pasted, but actually remade the game and added good new stuff. Also Alpha ruby&omega saphire (ORAS) have new changes like new art-style , new designs for Team magma/aqua, new Mega-forms, new Primal forms, changes to dialogs and storyline and the complete national dex. BDSP on the other hand does not provide any kind of major change in the game which makes this game really boring. It does have a new Underground which has overworld pokemon, but that is nothing special for 2022 and the ramanas park was neat but nothing too exciting. 5. Underground/Super-Contest: The old underground allowed to create your own living room with furnitures and set traps to troll friends online. Both were removed for a statue system which is really boring. Collecting statues and the effects of the statues are really disapointing. The Super-Contest used to be a fun-mode where you had many different options and varities and had to have good reflexes to do the correct moves at the correct time. Now all you have to do is Press A at the correct time and use 1 attack. That makes this mode so boring and disapointing. I mean, was it really that hard to let the player press like 4 different buttons instead of just 'A'?? 6. Art-Style: Many of us expected a modern review of Sinnoh in a 3D human like Art-style. But they decided to go for the Chibi-Art-Style. Everyone has different tastes but in my opinion the Chibi-Art-Style ruins many serious moments of the story line of this game, especially vs team galactic. It feels like all the emotions of the characters were removed. The reason why it was used in Diamond/Pearl was because of the limited hardware. In my opinion the Chibi-Art-Style waas the wrong decision and does not suit a switch game at all. 7. Only Gen 4: BDSP has a national dex which includes the pokemon from Gen 1-4 which is basically the same as Diamond/Pearl. As a player who would have loved to see at least some Pokemon from Gen 5-8 in Sinnoh, i am very disappointed. At least some Pokemon post Gen4, or some new forms or at least add Sylveon in this game. Not even mega-forms were included in this game. The fact that 95% of the megas are from Gen1-4 and the underground being the perfect place to grind the mega-stones, makes this decision even more disapointing. The reason why diamond/pearl was limited to Gen 1-4 was because there werent any other new pokemon. The reason why BDSP limited the game to Gen 1-4 is because of lazyness.. 8. PVP: On of the worst things in this game is everything arround PVP. The worst disrespect a main series pokemon game can get, is when GameFreak calls that all the competitive tournaments including the world championship will not take place in BDSP (WTF?). Unlike Sword/Shield, you have no option to search for PVP matches which makes it way harder to find battles. But the worst thing is the grind for a PvP team: TMs are not reusable (WHY?!). For some important TMs like Earthquake, you have to grind for 80BP (WTF. Thats a lot of Grind). Also you cannot catch pokemon with hidden abilities except those from poke radar. To get the hidden ability you have to grind for the ability patch for 200BP (WTF. Grind competitive to create a competitive. Nice system). By putting important PVP items behind such ridiculously high grind walls, it makes creating a PVP team disgusting. 9. Events: The events were also copy & pasted from Diamond/Pearl. Same Shaymin event, same Darkrai event. And other events are only accesible if you bought other main series pokemon game (Why..). And finally some garbage "events" which include some useless statues. Meanwhile, the 3 year old SW/SH getting better and innovative events like new PVP cups/tournaments and some legendary shinies. In my opinion the events in BDSP are disapointing. 10. Bugs/Glitches: Holy Moly! This game had so many bugs and glitches! You dont even need hacks, when the game itself has to many glitches. Many of them where completely broken. Many Pokemon clone glitches and item dupe glitches ruined the game. You could even get infinity money, create your own shinies (WTF), make your pokemon 6IV and let any Pokemon learn any move. I used to be in a discord for trading in BDSP and because of the glitches, the trade market was only about getting shiny 6IVs etc. Not to forget to mention the soft locks which made you restart the whole game which can happen for example in the ice gym. Usually every games has a few bugs. But this one had too many and too many game breaking glitches. A very hyped game like this shouldnt be developed by a 3rd party company.. But Gamefreak had other plans.. 11. Controls: The controls of this game feel weird and uncomfortable. Characters move in a grid which looks so weird during the storyline. The pokemon who follow me often block me in a bad way. The underground has many inivisible walls which makes moving in some rooms horrible. And finally the control with the cycle are the worst. The cycle in pokemon games are a beloved feature but in this game.. It feels so uncomfortable moving with the cycle, I sometimes even prefer walking. 12. Standards: A 2021 game should adapt the standards from the latest games (Sword 2019). The BDSP-standard isnt nearly as good as Sword/Shield. Many items, many attack moves, renewable TMs, dynamax, new pokemon, old moves without heart scales, more customization, max Raids or ranked battle stadium. None of the mentioned were adapted into this game -> BIG Downgrade for 2021 pokemon standards! 13. Price: Dia/pearl/Platinum: 40$ and Copy/Paste BDSP with Bugs:60$ -> Bruh.. Conclusion: It feels like GameFreak didnt want to do a Sinnoh remake but wanted to milk some money by releasing the highly demanded Sinnoh remake. The fact that, they hired a 3rd party company who never developed a major game, only supports this theory. Not forget to mention that, BDSP had a giant day one patch which was essential to enjoy the game. The fact that they released Legends Arceus almost 1-2 months after BDSP release also supports the theory, that they didnt care at all for this remake. Because of the release of Legends Arceus, the hiring of ILCA, the amount of glitches, the boring events, the exclusion of VGC, the 0 Innovation in this game and the fact that the majority of the game is copy & paste of a 2006 game (Dia/Pearl) which is worse than a 2008 Game (Platinum), makes this game the worst remake of all time in my opinion.
Never had an hm slave, never had an issue with hms. Wish they would come back. Or at least I wish MY Pokémon were the ones I rode or used to interact with the world. No more hires/summon random pokemon
Another interesting timing because of new leaks for Diamond and Pearl remakes. Apparently Game Freak orginally didn't plan to have a faithful remake like you were complaining about. They were planning to make a new technical foundation for the remakes that would be use for future main pokemon games. But they changed their mind at the last moment. It seems to be decided based on the leaks that there was an internal delay with Legends Arceus. The original release date was late 2021. Another interesting to note that Legends Arceus was created to attract core gamers. In other words, a different target demographic than usual pokemon core fans.
I feel like your last point is true about Lets Go too. They made it to draw in Pokémon Go players who didn’t play the mainline games much, if at all, with the Go catch mechanics and having all of the Kanto Pokemon which they were probably the most familiar with, on top of luring in people who played the OG games back in the late 90s
8:14 they temoved the Day & Night cycle because of how taxing it was on the internal batteries. Go find a cartridge of Gold/Silver/Crystal. They will 100% of the time have an expired battery (unless someone manually changed it), therfore making some parts of the game entirely unplayable. It also often time made it impossible to save the game at all
I LOVE Scarlet and Violet's story (i did not expect them to make me care about Arven after that introduction lol), and I'm playing through it again, but damn am I annoyed that i have to look up the right order to do things in because I don't want to get murdered by a surprise level fifty pokemon 😂
I used to captain the hate train for exp all, but as time has gone all, ive grown to love it. No longer, am i forced to use a pokemon in a less than favorable matchup because its level is lower than the rest of my team simply because my ocd refuses to have a mon on my team that's lower level than the rest. What I dont like is them removing the ability to turn it off. While i see no reason to not have it off, thereare those that want the more og experience of switch training. There was no reason to remove the ability to turn it off.
27:05 Absolutely not. Pokemon has been easy from the start and XY are far above RBY and GSC in terms of difficulty. Yes, the boss battles are incredibly underwhelming with each gym leader having 3 pokemon max and no megas, but at least they have functional movesets and some of the gyms have fine enough synergy, something neither RBY nor GSC can attest to. XY are definitely still easy, but don't act like the lack of difficulty started in gen 6 when it was at its easiest at the beginning of the franchise
For me the last set of games i played was USUM but i came into a moment when i got so burnt out of playing Pokèmon games, let alone games in general that i felt like i didn't missed on much by skipping Gen VIII, BDSP and Legends Arceus, it wasn't until i bought a Switch Lite a few months ago and decided to try Pokèmon Violet. I somewhat enjoyed my first run through the game and by the time i was starting my second playthrough i got bored of it and haven't touch it since then. I guess the thrive and hype i once had when it came to playing videogames "especially the new ones" has been slowly fading away over the years and i'm the kind of person that hates forcing myself to play a game to completion if i'm not feeling it.
EXP All is easily the worst mechanic that's been standard in Pokémon games since Gen 6. While the postgames have become more fleshed out, I have zero motivation to replay the main stories because they're just too easy. To make matters worse, they don't even give you the option to turn it off anymore.
I've always wondered if the lets go games are Wii ideas that got scrapped at the time because they didn't think anyone was interested in them, then Pokémon Go was a massive hit and it was revisited for the Switch.
Alot of yall say black and white was the best which makes me think yall weren't born yet when pokemon red blue green yellow came out. For the true pokemon fans that was born during the 1st Gen period I think we all can agree the best pokemon game of all time that had the most substance was Pokemon Crystal. There was like two stories in 1 in that game. First u beat hoenn Gym leaders and your rival who was ACTUALLY a rival because he STOLE his starter, then u become champion and you gotta beat all Kanto Gym leaders. Then the final battle on the mountain against ash. I remember the first time I ran into ash I was so hype. Of course I lost but I was astonished. Level 81 Pikachu?? I was like if only he had held items on like the one that prevented 1 hit kos then Pikachu would have been an issue. But yeah my personal favorite is that series of pokemon silver gold crystal. No game after that had that much to accomplish after beating the game.
Gen 2 was also the first generation you could play as a girl which is pretty awesome, im glad they made that change early so that pokemon wasnt considered “just for boys”
good video but to make an easier listening experience changing your cadence and tone, would be amazing cuz right now it’s the same same same but love da video ❤
Playing Shining Pearl while watching....I love this game because of the expanded underground. I kinda miss it that they took away the burying of spheres and traps. I also love Let's Go Eevee, because, well...Eevee...and ORAS. Love all the games except Sun and Moon (including "ultras" ) and Sword/Shield (but love Wooloo. Just look at it! A big ball of fluffy cuteness!!!...but Hopp is annoying as heck!) I have never completed these games....don't think I ever will.
Im currently playing ultra sun for the first time. Im obviously not using experience share, and i ditched my starter at the beginning, playing with pichu and caterpie as my starters, and its the most challenging pokemon i have ever played😂
I prefer the whole exp share change after gen 6. Grinding the older pokemons were lowkey tesious as hell. And i like BDSP, but i fully acknowledge that they could have been better. They should have honestly done a remake of platinum instead.
People are so dramatic with the Diamond and Pearl speed I swear. The speed is so bad it makes you not want to play it?! That’s just insanity. If we can play Red and Blue, we can play Diamond and Pearl lol
I have played every Pokémon game except for the sun and moon games because after an hour and a half of tutorial I got annoyed and never picked it back up. The other game I haven’t played much is scarlet and violet I was confused about what I needed to do. I don’t enjoy open world games.
38:30 they actually really don’t have much of an excuse for this. The previous games (ultra sun and ultra moon,) were HUGE, and ran perfectly fine and for its time had actual amazing graphics, even on my 2DS! Having a new home console game look worse and be smaller than a handheld console game was really disappointing
I love that gen 4 clip, of the heracross using super effective close combat on blissey, where it takes over a minute for it’s health to go down lol Edit: I’ll also mention, I 100% understand the bdsp hate, games aren’t great. HOWEVER, I will defend its difficulty increase, specifically in the poke league. The majority of Pokémon there have the best abilities, good items, and all of the aces have perfect evs/ivs/stats whatever. Cynthia’s entire team of im not mistaken has all of these applied to her Pokémon. The game has been the toughest since they made them easier back in gen 6. With strategy you can still beat it ofc, but it almost feels like your taking on comp teams in the league.
You about BDSP: “I Hate this game with every fiber of my being… there are some inexcusable things they did in this game that drive me up a wall” Also you about BDSP: “I put well over 100 hours into this game and beat it twice” Sounds like you excused the inexcusable haha Don’t worry, I’m sure your $60 ($120?) and 100+ hours really showed TPC how you felt
Generations 2-6 are peak Pokemon, honestly the 2d games were when Pokemon was at its peak. Unova, Hoenn, Sinnoh (Platinum), Johto (Crystal & HGSS), and though its 3d, Kalos, are all some of the best regions in terms of worldbuilding, exploration, locations, stories, and overall gameplay. Kanto is pretty good but Firered/LeafGreen are MILLIONS of times better from the OG games. Gens 8 and 9 are horrible though, I'm sorry but they're just awful... there is No exploration, NO fleshing out in towns and cities or folklore or mythology that any of the previously mentioned regions had, mostly terrible forgettable characters with mediocre writing, and lack of buildings to be entered with dungeons and caves being relegated to short, one-note or one-path ways with no intricacy.. Yuck. HeartGold and SoulSilver are some of the best still to this day despite the flaws.
I still remember getting my giant brick Gameboy and my copy of pokemon yellow on Christmas and literally crying cause I was so happy, it's one of those memories that just stick with me, and I was so amped for gold and silver that I literally got a Japanese version at my local Gamedude just so I could play the game early, even though this was before online walkthroughs or translator so you can just imagine.😂 But my favorite game of the entire pokemon franchise has to be Ruby and Sapphire not counting Legends arceus which is an offshoot of the main games in my mind like pokemon pinball or pokemon snap.
Testament to how good the originals were that you were forced to use something that isn't even a bad part of the game as the "worst" part. Plus, you get the bike before you get fly. G/S/C battles weren't really that slow, and definitely not even close to D/P. You also had to do basically nothing to not be lvl 70 by the time you get to/beat the Elite 4 before going to Kanto in gen 2. The water isn't a problem at all in S/R/E. Literally no such thing as too much HMs, one of the worst decisions was removing HMs. There has also never been a Pokemon game that requires a HM slave. EXP share being automatic is not a good thing. Chibi version of Pokemon was amazing, they didn't need it to look like Sword/Shield. BD/SP were not actual remakes, and were never advertised as such. As they said from the beginning, it is more of a 1:1 remaster. Not scaling was the BEST part of Scarlet/Violet. Level scaling is BS.
ts good there's no level scaling, it shouldn't exist in any game with levels. If you want the same effect, just have levels removed, because that's essentially what scaling does
I disagree that Black and white 2 has the best postgame, It's quantity over quality, being able to fight tournaments with older characters is fine but Emerald's battle frontier was an entire game in itself
I love Sun and Moon. I really like the Z-moves, especially the exclusive ones. But I’m not a fan of dyna/gigantamaxing in Sw/Sh. It just wasn’t fun for me even when doing it with other people. And I barely even use terastralization
35:38 they did indeed do that. Literally gives you the option at the BEGINNING of the game. All you die hard fans are so quick to hate on this game you just outright lie.
If the only negative of Black and White is not having any Pokémon before Gen V before the Elite Four then that proves how good they are.
Well, trainers in second area after story also have weird lvls. 1.st game was rushed and its noticable.
the only negative of black and white is that many of the pokemon are terrible to me.
the 3 apes, sok throw, even the starters are totally mid at best. kelfki, vanillux, just bad, bad bad.
tons of good ones too though

Hot take but I like the six gen exp share, it makes gridding for a balance team much easier and simpler. Yeah it does make the game easier but sometimes Pokemon is a game where you just chill and play for fun
I agree! For me just like how it’s nice to have it be easier I wish they allowed it to be harder too. I just want a difficult selection that is balanced lol :D
@@StrawHatMidas i think I remember Pokémon super mystery dungeon being harder mode of x and y it took me longer to finish it than Pokémon x and y
THANK YOU YES
If the games are usually too short for that. Part of making the old pokémon games feel longer was having to grind. But since the newer games are ballpark give or take roughly the same length, having EXP share makes the game too easy and on top of that beating through the campaign in a day or two
One thing to point out is that "Too much water" doesn't just apply to the areas you go to. It also applies to the type of pokemon you find. The abundance of water types compared to others hinders team building quite a bit.
It's also that the sea route encounters are just Tentacool and Wingull lines. Very tedious
its supposed to be equal parts land and sea to highlight the cause of the villain teams
One thing comes to mind that they could have done to make omega ruby.Alpha sapphire, a bit better, would have been for the water areas to have mr briney and peeko be more available for fast travel .@@ItisJG
Hot take but I am cool with 3 years of no pokemon because game freak needs more time to make a pokemon game instead of every year
Based
But they should focus on just 1 game, they are releasing too many games BDSP was a fail as remake.
Hard agree, the music was peak too
On a similar note, gen 5 are the only games I don't mind playing with move animations on as they didnt feel slugish
Gen 5 games are so good, I still play today also whenever I am free.

Personally I got to gen 3 then thought who ever designed the pokemon got lazy there was maybe 5-10 out of the full pokedex that acctually looked OK the rest were terrible and the starters wow they were horrendous yeah some may be good battle wise but the designs who wants to walk around with a orange baby chicken or a baby blue penguin ffs
And no disrespect to the person making the video but the guy sounds exactly like my brother in law realistically yes played red and blue and silver and gold but wasn't bang into it wen they came out and missed the essence of what pokemon was back then.. and that's the issue I have 31 year old and can't even look at anything pokemon related these days they decided to turn a sword and sheild into a pokemon and then a brush how sloppy can you litterally get and it looks more kiddie and less realistic now than it ever felt
I stopped at 3
@@purplebull013don't blame you 1 bit
I stopped playing after Diamond and Pearl because of how painfully slow they felt.
Idk why people hate Pokémon ORAS, it was such a good remake
It brought back mega evolution from X and Y
And they massively redeemed Sceptile for Treecko fans by giving him a bad ass mega form that turns him INTO A FRICKING DRAGON! and made it a lot more stronger as a Pokémon than the original Hoenn games that made him useless compared to Blaziken and Swampert
It had the Eon flute which helps the user not waste HM Fly on a Pokémon’s move-set
It had a bunch of legendarys from Johto, Sinnoh and Unova coming out of Hoopa Rings for crying out loud
And Delta Emerald episode is one of the best post game story’s in a Pokémon remake ever.
i hate ORAS for not being faithful and respectful to the originals. That is not a good remake in my eyes
@@JamiePokemonTrainercan't tell if this is a joke or legit lol
@@2810Mad Because remakes are aimed more for newer players. And newer players wouldn't know much about third versions or care for them especially as it is not easy to get those games these days.
Here's some of my hot takes of low points for some of the generations:
I found Gen 5 annoyed me nearly as much as Gen 7 for being stopped every 5 seconds to be exposited at. I think that was the point where they should've ditched the silent protagonist trope.
Gen 4s honey trees are satanic and the bane of my existence.
Gen 1s cave obsession is an underrated issue with those games
Gen 6 choices for who received mega evolutions was disappointing
Gen 9s towns are pathetic and forgettable
Audino getting mega from Gen 5 and Diance from Gen 6 is absolute Joke🤣🤣🤣.
@vishuindia1113 that plus the Pokémon that really were doing fine, without Megas, getting them anyway. Great feature, badly implemented. People hate on dynamax, but at least every Pokémon could do it

For me gen 2 is my favourite all time! Remember when I got Pkmn Silver when I was 10. So much nostalgia.
good taste, anything from Gen 2-6 is worthy of being someones favorite. Thats it though.
Dude said, "just get an Alakazam" like I wasn't a broke kid with no friends.
Besides legends arceus. You can actually catch every pokemon that is in the game.
At least prior to Sword and Shield, we could turn off the xp share. Now they don't even let us do that. And Scarlet/Violet even got rid of set mode in options which I will never understand
The limited bag space in gen 1 is a killer
Make gym leaders match your level. They have different teams based upon how many badges you already own. Would make replaying more valuable and also wouldn't hurt certain starters in the early game. Also make a difficulty selection that actually works
I'm mostly just disappointed they didn't call it Shining Diamond. It's not like Araki would have any right to complain about the name.
Shining diamond isn't even the actual name of the stand, it was localized with that name to avoid copyright issues. Original name was Crazy Diamond
its CRAZY DIAMOND

"Modern games are afraid of being dark unlike Gen 1"
Legends Arceus: Hey
I don’t even think gen 1 was all that dark. Sure there’s the raticate thing, but I’ve never seen any evidence to suggest it was intentional.

I was grateful to hear not only bad things about scarlet and violet; I genuinely loved them
Such a good video man. I recently bought a switch and I was really hesitant on wether or not to buy some of the pokemon titles, but your video really helped and it’s so well made and edited that it was a joy to watch. Keep going.
Being able to have emulators such as delta for iPhone has really given me happiness replaying RBY and GSC again.
Oh Pokestar studios ruled. I spend a LOT of time in that mini game.
Another goated video man! Keep up the great work :)
Appreciate it as always :D
Hey!
just wanna say I binged like 4 video of yours after seeing the 2D Mario video, and you deserved my sub all the way!
Thank you! I hope I can keep making videos you want to watch :D
Pokémon sun and moon were my first video games ever, I played through the entire game never running, I didn’t know how to, seeing you point out the no running shoes made me remember that and how it didn’t matter to us as kids, it’s funny how we change
No lie, playing Violet/Scarlet for Typelockes is a really fun time, plus the story and characters are memorable af; even down to the side characters.
I like both Unova and Alola games equally, I like their iterations in telling stories, the concept, the world building of the region, the Pokémon and even the characters. Both sides also gave us the best fanservices ever made with Pokémon World Champion and Rainbow Rocket Episode, but if I’m being honest, those 4 aren’t exactly my favorite games either, I like them all but equally, equally in 3rd rank
Sword & Shield is my most favorite one of all, sure it has lots of issues (with lack of side quests being the worst to me, not the dexit), but putting all biases aside, Galar is the most aesthetically pleasing region, its gimmick (Dynamaxing) is a pretty balanced if not the most balanced of all, you can use it both offensively and defensively, the Rotom Bike also feels so much better transportation than riding a Pokémon, sure it can’t jump like Acro Bike but it can dash through water.
I like exploring SwSh games especially in the Crown Tundra DLC, say all what you want about these games, I like it the most and you can’t change my mind, bet you can’t find sponsorship in your regions huh
also Legends Arceus is my second favorite and ORAS + Crystal ties for my 4th position with HGSS being my 6th
@0:53, the modern Pokemon games have gotten pretty dark in scarlet violet and PLA. Sada and Turo straight up die in those games and then you have to see how Arvin deals with losing his parents. Kieran has an interesting arc too with how he deals with his issues.
I mainly played let's go to see kanto in 3d which was cool but I literally rolled through the entire game mostly just using Eevee. It's really easy
i’m playing through it for the first time now and i’m basically never using eevee bc i don’t want it to be too easy
loved sw/sh and also love the region, I think people jumped on the bandwagon with the hate because of the national dex issue - but crown tundra was so fun and dynamax raids were such a great addition
Helen Keller always catching strays out here😭
This was a great video! Hope your channel grows quick and reaches out to much more pokefans!
I feel like the fact that Red, Blue, and Yellow were held together with hopes, dreams, duct tape, and a whole lot of phlegm (they ran out of tape), at least deserves a mention.
Me when I'd take that over gens 7-9 any day
@shewolfcub3 I feel like 7-9 would be more bearable if they just made the cutscenes skippable.
I liked the fact that you could only get Unova Pokémon during the main story. It just makes sense that if you’re in Unova you should only be able to catch Unova Pokémon
yeah i don’t hate this idea. i know people want old favorites but playing through with new pokémon help you find new favs
Great video. I bet this would have been an amazing series to watch. Great work. Keep grinding man and keep shining!! 🔥💪
Except gen 3 was first dexitsituation. I shouldn't need to buy peripheral accessories, other consoles, and their games just to get my favorites. There was no way in RSE for me to get an espeon if those were only games i had access to
No way this dude just said og emerald had too much water lmao
That’s what alot of people say. And I can see why but tbh I liked the water routes
7.8 TOO MUCH WATER
Thats the funny thing about Team Flare, i dont kno whymany elderly pokemon players say is the worst team, when in third gen both teams only wanted more of something without thinking of implications. Ofc what make Flare a dissapointing one are some of their methods and the fact they doesnt seem to feel well stablished, as their motivation to do what they do are pretty interesting. The idea of wanting to preserve the beauty and youth of our soroundings is a pretty solid one and even kinda phylosofical, but they never get that far with that
great video editing, very informative and entertaining. keep up the great work 🤙
Much appreciated :D thank you for your kind words :D
According to the Pokemon leaks, Pokemon Legends Arceus was supposed to have voice acting but they weren't able to. Probably because they were pressured to release it as soon as possible.
13 reasons why BDSP are the WORST remakes of all time:
WTF)
The Super-Contest used to be a fun-mode where you had many different options and varities and had to have good reflexes to do
the correct moves at the correct time.
13. Price: Dia/pearl/Platinum: 40$ and Copy/Paste BDSP with Bugs:60$ -> Bruh..
Worst part of EVERY Pokemon game is version exclusives. Also, Bellsprout is considered to be in the same dimension as Charizard in terms of design?
trade evolutions too
Never had an hm slave, never had an issue with hms. Wish they would come back. Or at least I wish MY Pokémon were the ones I rode or used to interact with the world. No more hires/summon random pokemon
Sword shield was absolutely flawless and dexit is a good thing
*loads the gun*
@@Bullminator😂😂😂😂😂😂
WOrst games ever made sorry. Top 10 worst games not just in Pokemon either.
B2W2 are probably my most played games when you include rom hacks.
EXP All is easily the worst mechanic that's been standard in Pokémon games since Gen 6. While the postgames have become more fleshed out, I have zero motivation to replay the main stories because they're just too easy. To make matters worse, they don't even give you the option to turn it off anymore.
Some of us would rather not grind, grinding isn't difficult, it's boring.
I've always wondered if the lets go games are Wii ideas that got scrapped at the time because they didn't think anyone was interested in them, then Pokémon Go was a massive hit and it was revisited for the Switch.
eh i could see the joycon catching being something they originally wanted to be on wii
Gen 2 and 3 were awesome games! I never got to play gen 4-7 but I did play BDSP and they were lacking for sure.
My second fav is emerald but that's only because of the battle frontier. That tournament battle was lit. OK I've said enough 😂
Gen 2 was also the first generation you could play as a girl which is pretty awesome, im glad they made that change early so that pokemon wasnt considered “just for boys”
Vanilluxe is my favorite pokemon, so I'm glad you didn't dunk on it :)
good video but to make an easier listening experience changing your cadence and tone, would be amazing cuz right now it’s the same same same but love da video ❤
Sword and Shield were the best and I’ll die on that hill, especially giving us the coolest Pokemon design with Gigantimax Cinderace
Your obsession with bellsprout is so funny.
Bellsprout is #69
Playing Shining Pearl while watching....I love this game because of the expanded underground.
This is a great great vid since I just bought an emulator and don’t know where to start lol
Omegaruby and alphasapphire in the Let’s Go! Format.🙏🏽 that would be a solid next gen.
0:53 *remembers how dark the Area Zero stuff got* what u smokin? lol
I love that gen 4 clip, of the heracross using super effective close combat on blissey, where it takes over a minute for it’s health to go down lol
Edit: I’ll also mention, I 100% understand the bdsp hate, games aren’t great.
You about BDSP:
“I Hate this game with every fiber of my being… there are some inexcusable things they did in this game that drive me up a wall”
Also you about BDSP:
“I put well over 100 hours into this game and beat it twice”
Sounds like you excused the inexcusable haha
Don’t worry, I’m sure your $60 ($120?) and 100+ hours really showed TPC how you felt
I will always buy a new Pokemon game lol, I talk a lot of trash but it’s a Pokemon game so it’s at base pretty good :D
You're taking it wayy too damn seriously and genuinely getting angry about some dude buying a damn video game lol touch grass
And I’m sure if he said he didn’t play it that much you’d say he can’t critique it without playing the game
22:52 Pikachu was left out of both BW and B2W2, not possible to obtain without trading from previous generation games or getting one from an event😂
No way to counter psychics? Snorlax disagrees
Sword and Shield is the reason I quit Pokemon. I put up with the bullshit before, but what they took away in that game was a step too far.
Not the Helen keller joke lol
35:38 they did indeed do that. Literally gives you the option at the BEGINNING of the game. All you die hard fans are so quick to hate on this game you just outright lie.
